Chapter 109
How to Train Your Dragon 2
Hiccups POV:
It's been an hour since I got back to my island from my latest dragon recruitment trip turned dragon rescue mission and in the time between us capturing the men and coming home so much has happened with both my dragons and I. Before we got back I dropped off the prisoners on Outcast Island where Alvin promised to take care of them and told me he was looking forward to brushing off some old interrogation methods again to see if these men were hiding anything. I gave him a bag of gold and a bag of jewels for his services before taking off again. When we first got back to the island I steered my ship into the bewilderbeasts nest and let all the dragons free to find their own places to build their own nest areas but all of them stopped to bow to the Bewilderbeasts showing they acknowledged them as the leaders of the nest. Once that was done I'd taken my ship out to the dock to begin unloading the cargo I'd looted from the ships and among the various treasures I'd discovered something amazing locked in a crate. A new egg and this one was round like an orb and glowing cyan blue with darker blue swirls around it. I found this egg when I was emptying out my cargo hold of all the stuff after releasing all the new dragons into the nest and after figuring out what it was I added it to the hatchery alongside my un-hatched bewilderbeast egg. Once all that was done I took off for a walk to just try and relax after a hard day of dragon rescuing and just needed to do some thinking about what my new dragons could do along with the information I got on those who employed those who were capturing them.
This brings us to where I am now and that's walking on the beach of my Hawaiian section of my island with my shoes off and my toes in the sand as I listened to the waves crash on the beach. I let out a sigh and turned to face the waves as they shimmered in the moonlight and watching as Kal swam through the waters while just playing in the waves happily. I sighed and thought about how much I envied him at this time since he was so joyful and didn't have a care in the world while I couldn't relax now. The reason for this was because I couldn't shake the thoughts about the men capturing those dragons or to be more precise the people who were buying them. I kept wondering what it was they were buying them for and who their leader was since from what I can understand they're the type of person who prefers to leave the work to his minions while he pulled the strings from the shadows and only come out when he had to. I let out a sigh and shook my head as I said to myself.
"You're worrying too much Hiccup, you've taken on demons and a titan for Odin's sake plus you have multiple alpha dragons under your command, god made weapons with major power, a ship that could turn into what's practically a destructive fortress, your own island that can be hidden whenever you want, multiple mystical beasts that will help you in your fights and a small bloody army of Anubis warriors that you can summon at will alongside multiple bags of dragon teeth that grow skeleton warriors." I squeezed my fists and looked up at the moon. "I swear to every god I've ever met that whatever this threat is I will use the gifts I was given and I will defeat EVEN IF IT KILLS ME IN THE PROCESS!" I then let out my battle yell and punched my fist up into the air.
Six weeks later
It's been six weeks since that night I swore to the gods that I would take on this new threat and in that time a lot has happened. For starters all of my new dragons had all settled into their new nests well with Itchy, Whiplash, Sweet-tooth, Frostburn and Thundra choosing to sleep in the stables while the others chose to live in either the Bewilderbeast nest or Voclana's volcano. Itchy now supplied me with an endless amount of his venom, which I used to create small bombs that can leave, a person covered in an itchy rash and I knew they wouldn't be that much help in battle I mostly used them on pests in the village like the twins who refused to leave me alone still. Sweet-tooth now helped my dragons in patrolling the island and mostly stuck to hiding under ground in various locations around the island. Whiplash now worked as one of my hunting dragons by using his ability to stick to things in order to watch over traps along with using his severed tails as bait for predators like wild boars who chowed down on them before they're left paralyzed and easy pickups. The Thunderclaws worked pulling wagons and ploughs on my fields except for Thundra who was one of my hunting dragons who helped Greta track down animals like boars. As for Frostburn he'd become the islands unofficial healer tending to every dragon and animal that had been wounded. Sadly, now Gothi's become one of the people in the village who's started pestering me wanting me to train her, her own prickleboggle since it could help her out with her job as the village healer. When I told her, they weren't that easy to find she asked that I give her Frostburn but I just told her none of my dragons were for sale after I asked her if she was crazy resulting in her hitting me with her staff.
As for the other dragons we rescued they pretty much just do their own thing flying around the nests and island but they'd also been training under Scardian and his pack. Scardian had pretty much become the unofficial general of the dragon nests answering only to my alphas and me. It was because of this he'd been running the new dragons through the multiple training courses I'd built for them. Whenever I watched them all going through the different courses, which included blasting targets, I knew that should we ever be attacked the enemy wasn't going to have an easy time fighting. Scardian wasn't the only one who'd been busy with the new dragons though as all of my Alpha species had also been busy settling a few fights over nesting areas but they were easily settled and they'd also needed to make a few new nesting areas to help house new dragons. Even Aegir had been busy working on his own underwater nest with large holes surrounding him for smaller tidal classes. This was all a good thing since some of the new dragons had taken off to Thor knows where only to come back a few days later with more dragons of different kinds including tidal classes so I'm guessing they were out recruiting new dragons or letting them know about the nests where they'd be safe. Some of these new dragons though were injured with some having rips in their wings or sadly missing limbs. These dragons had kept me busy in my forge as I was constantly designing, forging and creating new prosthetics for them, whether it be for their wings, limbs or teeth I had built them to help the dragons and I could tell they were all grateful for my help if their licks and nuzzles were anything to go by. All in all the nests was truly starting to feel like real dragon nests with multiple flocks all flying around. It was all rather beautiful to see especially when I saw some of them flying around a large ice pillar that came with one of the expansions.
When it came to the nests though I did have to make a few of my own adjustments to the ice nest though like having my whispering deaths dig tunnels through the ice for me before my gronkles drooled their lava onto the paths which I smoothed out before it hardened into stone and thanks to my immunity to heat and my prosthetic arm it wasn't that difficult. This process took a while but it was worth it in the end. It was thanks to these paths I could find my way to different sections with no trouble at all. My whispering deaths, gronkles and I had even helped set up a few nesting areas themselves via digging them out of the ice before my gronkles used their lava blasts to make solid stone grounds that I'd smooth out. From there making nests fell to whatever flock chose to nest there but it was mostly the nadders, zipplebacks, terrible terrors, and the thunderclaws who roamed the ice nest alongside the multiple tidal class dragons who nested in the water. The Nightmares and gronkles preferred to nest in the volcano with Volcana, the singetails and Logi where it was hot and in the gronkles case plenty of rocks to munch on. My other dragons that were the first ones of each species that I trained just preferred to nest in the stables with their respected mates.
I'd also been running tests on my ship to see if it had any other surprised when it comes to attacking or consuming ships and I was amazed with what I discovered. I started out by testing out what happens inside my ship when it consumes another by using one of the ships in the ship graveyard, Bucket and Mulch who were happy to help after I offered to make them one of my fishing boats and a few of my dragons who volunteered to help me test it. From my first test I learnt when the ship is consumed the walls in the back of the cells open up to reveal a bright blue light before the ship's crew members are pushed into the cell before the walls closed up and when it came to my dragons the same thing happened the same way except it was the floor that opened up. I asked Bucket and Mulch if they remembered anything when they were taken in and all they said was they saw a bright flash before they were pushed into a cell feeling a little dizzy. Along with this I learnt that when the ships were being pulled in the cabinet where they were kept couldn't be opened and the glass bottles that the ships were trapped in were indestructible unless I stabbed them with one of my own weapons and tossed them in the water where the ship would grow back to size.
Along with this I'd also been using old shipwrecks from the ship graveyard to test out my ships defenses after having my dragons tow some of them out of the ship graveyard since I didn't want to anger the eels. Now I knew my ship was a whole lot more powerful than I originally thought when it comes to firepower since in under five minutes the ten ships I brought back were sunk. It all started when I willed my ship to get battle ready and then much to my surprise multiple secret trap doors opened up on the deck behind the railing before five catapults rose out of the deck on either side with a single ballista between every two catapults making four on each side. At the back of the ship two ballistae rose from the floor while on the backside large slots opened up in the back-dropping flaming barrels that exploded when a ship contacted them. If that wasn't enough the bolts fired from the ballistae either exploded on contact or reeled a ship in using ropes allowing me to board it or completely destroy the ship since when it's ten feet away shutters open up on the side of the ship before flaming balls of metal are launched out pummeling the ship with holes. Along with all of this the ship even had a place for my statues of the Egyptian gods that had the power to fire the destructive blast. This place was on the head of the ship in the statue of a nightfury, what happened was I'd place the statues in slots just behind the head which would then open up allowing the blast to travel through the mouth while the wings would raise up revealing mirrors on the tip of the wings that redirect the suns light into the statue of Bastet which then shone into the statue of Ra before letting out its blast through the mouth of the nightfury. All in all, this ship was definitely good for travelling but when it came time to battle it was a true weapon that I had the feeling I'd need in the future.
As for my animals, the harpy eagle chicks seemed to be growing fine and healthy while my new wolves had fully settled into their new lives on my island. They even got used to me and began running up to me looking for a pat or rub on the head whenever I was walking through the forest. As for Maelstrom, he seemed to be getting along just fine now with the new wolf, which was a major improvement over how, they were before when the males were constantly challenging him for dominance. All this resulted in was me needing to pay all of them a visit to tend to their wounds, which were fortunately never to severe and wouldn't leave any scars but they also got what I assume was a scolding from their respected mates. Adal had also gone through a major change two weeks after I got back and when this change came I could not have been more nervous but I'll never forget it.
Flashback
I was lying on my bed wearing nothing but my pants while going over my thoughts about what I could do to find out who those dragon trappers were working. As I stared up at the ceiling I was brought out of my concentration by the sound of howling from the forest and shrugged knowing it was a full moon tonight and Adal enjoyed howling at it but there was something different about this howl for some reason. I decided it best to go investigate what was going on and stood up before making my way out of the room to go and see what was happening.
I made my way through the house to the cave where my wolves slept and out into the forest to see what was happening with Adal and I only began to run faster when I began to hear other howls join him. The reason for this is most of the time my other wolves just went for a walk when Adal howled and rarely if ever joined him and by the sounds of things this time it was the whole pack. When I reached the location, they were I hid behind a tree to watch them since I had the feeling it was best I not interfere with things. I looked from behind the tree to check out my wolves and saw they were all standing in a clearing with a large smooth topped boulder sticking out of the ground in the center of it all. All of my wolves including Maelstrom were circling around it and all looking up at Adal who was howling on the rock with the full moon shining right down on him. He then let out another howl as I noticed that it was getting colder to the point where I could see my breath and the surface of the boulder was freezing over.
Adal then let out another howl with all the wolves joining him as the ice grew from the boulder and completely covered him freezing him in what looked to be a small glacier of ice. I was tempted to run out and start slamming into the ice to free him but before I could my wolves began howling again as the ice began glowing white from the inside for a few seconds before it began cracking and then burst making a blast of ice air go flying through the area. I had to hide behind the tree to avoid the wind that was cold as the frost giants. When the wind stopped I looked back to see what happened and had to hold back a gasp at the sight of the creature now standing on top of the boulder. It looked like Adal except his under body, front paws, back legs and muzzle were now white as snow, his eyes glowed a fierce looking ice blue, his fangs seemed to have grown, his claws looked to now be made of ice, there were sharp shards of ice sticking out of different parts of his fur and he was now the size of two bears. (AN: Picture the fenrir from Chaos-Draco art on Pinterest) He looked up to the moon letting out one of the most powerful howls I'd ever heard with all my wolves joining in. I stepped back accidentally stepping on a branch making all my wolves turn to face the tree I was hiding. I slowly walked out from behind it with my hands up showing I wasn't armed as my wolves just stared at me before I said.
"Easy now guys, it's just me." They didn't move and just kept staring at me until I heard a growl ahead of me and turned to see Adal crouched down and ready to pounce. "Easy now Adal, I was the one who brought you here and helped raise you when you were a pup."
He just growled before pouncing and pinning me to the ground using his large paw to pin me to the ground and I closed my eyes waiting for the feel of his icy fangs and the sound of growling and barks of a predator killing its prey but they never came. The feeling that did come was that of an ice-cold tongue rapidly running across my face mixed with a little bit of whining. I couldn't help but laugh at this since despite the tongue being ice cold it still tickled as it always did and I knew despite how different looked he was still my little Adal. When he finally let me up my other wolves ran up to make sure I was all right and were all relieved to see I was fine but they wouldn't let me leave so I spent the night with them in the forest.
End flashback
The next day I began running some tests on Adal and was more than impressed with what I found out he could do. He had his own icy blast that resembled a blizzard like wind blast that froze whatever it hit on contact, when he took a step the spot iced over, he could swing his tail and icicles would be launched from it, when he jumped into the water he'd freeze it instantly allowing him to run across it, when it came to strength he was ten times stronger and faster than any dragon or animal I'd ever seen but his howl was without a doubt one of the most powerful things I'd ever seen. It was like a thunderdrums blast but it had the power to shatter an entire sea stack with a single blast. When I tested him on running if he could find me when called he could hear me summon him from anywhere and use his howl to open up a portal to where I was and he could keep it open for half an hour at least allowing others to come through.
It was three days later after his transformation that I got a visit from Thor himself who came to see what the strange power surge he felt days earlier was. When he discovered it was Adal he was impressed that Adal still obeyed me and allowed me to keep him as Odin was originally planning to have Thor take whatever it was back to Asgard for protection against those who'd abuse it. Still though Odin asked the Dwarves to forge Adal a collar that would help him control his powers and I was asked to help them in forging it. I was happy to help out since it was to make sure Adal didn't hurt anyone using his powers by accident and we got to work on the collar in the same forges where my axe was forged. The collar was made from the same material as my Axe so it wouldn't be broken so easily but it looked to be made of silver with ice blue colored Norse runes inscribed on it.
Adal didn't mind the collar and actually seemed to like it since it helped him control his power. While I was with the dwarves though I asked them if they could help me understand Adal's portal making abilities but they told me it best I go to the elves for they were more knowledgeable in these types of things and promised to send them a message as soon as we were done with the color. A day after I gave Adal the color Freyr came to my island to see the portal and study Adal after the dwarves informed him of my request and came to examine not only the portal but also Adal in general. Once he finished checking out Adal and his portal with me being present of course he turned to me smiling while saying I'd done a remarkable job with him with both having him not fight his nature by having him live with the other wolves but also keeping him tamed by playing a major part in his life ensuring his loyalty. As for Adal's ability to make portals Freyr said it was similar to the magic of the Bifröst except instead of allowing travel to other realms it allowed Adal to travel to where I was when summoned by me. Along with this I also learnt Adal's presence would come to affect my other wolves but it would take time as his powers have only now fully developed with him fully maturing and with his maturity came an imperviousness to any mortal weapon and it was only my god made weapons that could harm him but I prayed I'd never have to use them on him. Four days after the visit I learnt that despite the collar helping him control his power it still had an effect on the island as the forest was snowed upon leaving it covered in a thin blanket of snow but nothing serious and my wolves seemed to enjoy playing in the snow. The only other alteration to happen in the forest was Adal used his breath to create himself a den outside of the regular wolves den since he seemed to like it cold now.
I'd also been training with Amr since I haven't spent that much time training with him since I first got him and I wanted to see if he was capable of anything I wasn't aware of like how it was with my ship. Once his training begun I'd realized how right I was about him having powers and also how he got around the island so fast. He could travel through the shadows by sinking or walking into one and then walking out of another one in a different place no matter the location. I learnt this when I tried having him do it by travelling from my island to different areas in the places I had portal doors open like in El Dorado I flew into the jungle where there were no portals and he was able to come to me plus he was able to bring others through the shadows like my jaguars but they weren't happy about it. Along with that he'd always come no matter where I was when I called him. Then there were the flames that he was able to produce and when it comes to these flames they were not something to mess with. The flames were as black as his fur and formed on his back and feet but he could launch them from his mouth as well and when he ran the places he stepped would be burned. When a person touched these flames the nerves in their body part that touched them would shut down leaving them completely unable to move whatsoever and they'd only move again when Amr breathed a white flame onto them. This is something Snotlout helped me learn when he tried to challenge me in the great hall when I was testing Amr again. Amr thought he was trying to attack me and defended me with his flames while also scaring the life out of Snotlout and everyone in the Great Hall. Still though I felt he could do more but he was only going to reveal his true power when the time was right.
There're also how things have been going on Berk between me, the people and how things have been going with the younger generation. The month-long grounding of Lars and his gang has come and gone and with it they got their freedom to have fun back but now their parents were keeping a closer eye on them and being far stricter when it came to their bullying. Lars and his group already tried to pick on Yvla and Jamie and as Lars put it, pay them back for their month of punishments that they got them stuck with. They tried to give them a beating but before they could even lay a hand on them my dad and Gobber spotted them as they walked by and put an end to their attempted assault. While Gobber took care of Yvla and Jamie by escorting them to the Great Hall for lunch my dad took Lars and his gang back to their parents who weren't too happy about what happened. My dad decided it best to give them assignments to keep them busy which is why they were now in charge of helping the farmers of Berk shovel yak dung into a wagon for the fertilizer piles.
Speaking of my dad and Gobber I'd discussed the men I captured with them for any ideas on who their buyer might be by the name of the generals who pick up the dragon. They told me they'd never heard of the generals before and asked me if I saw any symbols like a tribal crest on them or their equipment. I showed them all the equipment I'd stolen from them but came up with nothing since there wasn't anything to show what tribe they belonged to. From this we learnt they were likely a gang of traveling mercenaries for hire who didn't belong to any tribe but all this did was make things more complicated when it came to finding their employer.
It was then I decided it best I use my golden falcons to try and find out a bit more about the generals. When I sent the one out to find each of the generals one by one my dad and Gobber requested they be there to see if they recognized them. We saw Ragnar giving orders to a large group of men and Chaghatai going over some strategies but Griselda was the one that caught the most attention. She and a large group of men had arrived on the island where I caught the mercenaries and by the looks of things she was not happy to find the mercenaries weren't present. She threw a fit demanding to know where the men and the captured dragons were and when one of the men said they might be out catching more dragons he received a punch to the face from her showing she wasn't a person you wished to be near when angered. She had her men search the area for the mercenaries and came up empty.
Three of her own men ended up with serious injuries when they discovered they were nowhere to be found and she needed to take out her anger on someone when she believed those mercenaries had double-crossed them and run off. She then mentioned something about an idiot dragon trapper named Eret son of Eret having new dragons sent in since at least he knows what'll happen should he come empty handed again. From this little spy time I was at least able to learn the name of another man capturing dragons for her leader and I figured if I found him then I might find out who the general's leader is. After I learnt this I took off to Outcast Island to question the men I'd captured to see if they knew where I might find this Eret guy. When I got there Alvin informed me that they were telling the truth about never getting to meet the man in charge but I told him I needed them questioned on a guy named Eret son of Eret. All it took was a glare from Alvin and they spilled their guts on everything they knew about him.
Apparently, they'd done business with Eret a few times at his fortress where they kept the dragons they captured before they were shipped off to the guy the generals answered to. They were hesitant with their leader out right refusing claiming if it were discovered he gave information away it would be his life. Fortunately, I brought Amr with me as my own personal guard dog since he seemed to be getting a little restless after patrolling the desert for so long with no enemies to face. It was then Amr walked into the shadows and reappeared in the cell right behind the leader while growling at him with a black flame running down his back. When the leader saw this, he swore he'd tell me everything if I just called of what he called 'my demon dog from hell'. To be honest I couldn't blame him for being afraid of Amr since whenever he got like this he had this terrifying feel around him that intimidated even me and I'm his master. Once I called Amr off the leader then told me everything he knew like his trapping methods, his weapon of choice, what his traps are like and where to find Eret's fortress. Armed with this knowledge I took off to do some reconnaissance on Eret's fortress using my golden falcons but not before Alvin asked if he could borrow Amr for interrogations in the future. I let him know if I was present then he'd be welcome to use him however he wants. When I got back to my island I went to my golden falcons and had used them to check out Eret's fortress to see what was happening there. From this I learnt who Eret was, he was a big-time dragon trapper who'd been trapping dragons for years and he's planning a delivery to his employer who I now knew to be named Drago, tomorrow but he didn't say his full name so I couldn't find him yet.
All of this brings us to where I am now which is standing at the edge of a cliff looking out at a large forest with trees that were covered in orange leaves while I wore my regular armor since it's meant to be a simple scouting mission with Toothless and Scardian at my sides since things might get ugly. Despite this being a scouting mission I wasnted to be prepared if things got ugly so along with the dragons I had I also brought my entire god made weapon arsenal, Amr ready to come if called and four bags of Damen's teeth if the need for them arises. I'd named this place Itchy Armpit when I gave Toothless the choice of naming it. I looked out at the area and sighed before I noticed a large cloud of smoke rising in the distance and turned to my dragons as I said.
"Let's go check it out guys."
They each gave a growl before we took off since I had the feeling that the answer as to who wanted the dragons and why they wanted them was there. As we flew over the land I used my eagle eye to look around for any dragons and surprisingly I couldn't find anything other than the occasional terrible terror and even those were rare to see here for some reason. It was then the trees carrying leaves gave way to a sea of dead burnt trees that was truly just saddening and it didn't help that the cliffs were casting a shadow upon this area as the grass gently let loose the smoke of a freshly extinguished fire. It was then we flew between the cliffs to discover a destroyed fortress covered in ice that looked all too familiar. I signaled my dragons to stay close and be careful as we flew towards the fortress for a better look and to see if I could confirm my suspicions of what did this to it. We flew up to and around the ice where I looked down and saw large footprints in the mud confirming my suspicion that it was a bewilderbeast that did this to this fortress. I was brought out of my thoughts when I noticed to men with a ballista as one yelled.
"FIRE!"
They launched a net towards us but me and Toothless dodged it only for it to hit Scardian behind us sending him falling to the ground below where a group of armed men with weapons that looked to be made of metal and dragon bone surrounded him. We did a quick fly around making Toothless give the whistle signaling his presence before we landed on one of the ice shards sticking out and out of the men's sight. I quickly summoned Amr along with ten Anubis warriors and pointed at the archers before giving a hand gesture for them to get behind them and not attack until I gave the signal. They each nodded before Amr and them vanished into the shadows while I mounted Toothless before we flew down landing while I released my starsword and glared at the men and asked.
"What do you lot think you're doing?" Eret just asked.
"Back again?" He then looked at Toothless. "Soil my britches." He stepped on top of Scardians head that had now been tied up. "That is a nightfury." He leaned down and patted one of the men on the shoulder. "Thought they were all gone for good." Toothless growled but I signaled him to calm down but I was ready to hurt them to for what they were doing to Scardian. "Looks like our lucks had a turn for the better lads, don't think Drago has one of those in his dragon army." I raised an eyebrow at this.
"Listen I don't want any trouble here." He glared at me.
"You should've thought of that before you stole all our dragons and blasted our fort to bits." He gestured to the destroyed fortress while the men yelled in agreement.
"What are you talking about?" He ignored my question.
"Dragon trapping is hard enough work as it is without do gooder dragon riders sneaking in to rescue them."
"What do gooder- "I paused to process what he said. "There are other dragon riders?"
"You mean other than your thieving friend from last night you tell me." He pointed at me. "You may have an ice spitting dragon on your side" He stepped of Scardians head and began to slowly walk. "but we still have a quota to fill and how do you suppose we explain all this to Drago Bludvist?" He gestured to his destroyed fortress as I used the opportunity to check on Amr and my Anubis warriors and smiled seeing they were all in position to take down the archers before turning back to Eret.
"Who?" One of the men with a beard that had been split at the bottom wielding a shield and a bone sword with barbs on one side replied.
"He's expecting a new shipment of dragons for his army tomorrow." One of the men wearing a hood with a barbed bone sword then said.
"And Drago don't take well to excuses." Eret pulled his shirt down to reveal a brand that looked like the ones the dragon hunters planned to give me at one point.
"This is what he gave me the last time I showed up empty handed." He pulled his shirt back up. "He promised to be far less understanding in the future."
"Does the name Krogan seem familiar to you?" Eret nodded.
"Yes, he was Drago's prized student, second in command and like a son to him until he failed him a second time which meant he had to pay the price." He smirked for a minute. "I saw them drag him away claiming there was some dragon rider with magical weapons who was to blame." They all chuckled. "Like magic actually exists." I smirked at him.
"I can assure you Eret that magic does exist as do demons, giants, witches since I've faced more than a few of them." They all chuckled.
"I'll believe that when I see it." It was then he raised an eyebrow. "How'd you know my name though?" He pulled out his sword and pointed it at me. "I don't recall telling it to you or meeting you in the past."
"Oh, where are my manners." I bowed to them. "My name Hiccup," I stood up and gestured to Toothless. "this is Toothless and the nadder you have there is Scardian." I then looked at Eret. "As for how I know your name, I've been watching you and your men for a few days now."
"You've been spying on us?"
"I prefer to call it learning about my enemy but I guess you can call it spying."
"But how since we would've spotted you at least once."
"Yes, you would have if I'd been there but I never left my own island that you've never even seen and most likely never even heard of."
"So, you've been watching us somehow without leaving your own island?" He glared. "I take it you've got spies watching us then?" I shook my head.
"No, I use a gift I got from the Egyptian god Horus." They all laughed at this as the one with the split beard said.
"Oh, so you've met some gods, have you?"
"A few, to be honest but it's mostly either to give me a message or to gift me for my services to their worshippers." I then smiled. "I also got a few other gifts but the one I find most useful is the one I received from the God Anubis and what I won from Set." Eret then asked.
"And what gifts would those be?" I smirked.
"You're about to find out."
I then raised my real fingers to my lips and let out a loud whistle right before my Anubis warriors jumped from the shards of ice they were hiding behind and attacked the archers from behind. Eret looked up at his men to see what was attacking them and the look on his face when he saw what was attacking them was hilarious. With the element of surprise, the archers didn't stand a chance and were quickly disarmed before they were thrown from their towers to the ground while my warriors destroyed the ballistae and glared down at the hunters. Eret stared at them and yelled.
"WHAT ARE THOSE THINGS?" I calmly replied.
"Anubis warriors Eret but they're not the only souvenirs from Egypt I brought with me." I then glared at him and whispered. "Sic em!" No sooner did the words leave my mouth did Amr appear from the shadows and pounce on Eret while my Anubis warriors jumped from the towers and attacked the trappers while I made a break for Scardian and quickly cut the ropes holding him before he stood up a free dragon. "Let's get out of here pal."
I quickly mounted Toothless and let out another whistle calling Amr off but not before he let loose a black flame blast on Eret's right arm. This left Eret's arm completely useless as Amr leapt off him and ran into the shadows quickly disappearing into them as Eret got up with some difficulty since he couldn't use his one arm. He glared at me as I had my Anubis warriors return to their sand form while we took off. As we flew away I could hear him yell.
"YOU'LL PAY FOR THIS AND YOU WILL NEVER HOLD ONTO THOSE DRAGONS, YOU HEAR ME?" I looked back at him. "DRAGO IS COMING FOR THEM ALL!" I just rolled my eyes and yelled back.
"I'VE HEARD THESE KINDS OF THINGS FROM MINIONS BEFORE ERET AND THEY ALL END UP GETTING THEIR ASSES HANDED TO THEM ON A SILVER PLATTER ALONGSIDE THOSE THEY SERVE!" I then turned my attention back to my front. "We better warn my dad since Drago might come to Berk which means we have to get everyone to safety and prepare for a fight." Toothless growled and nodded.
Sunset
I came to land in the middle of the village where my dad was finishing up his chiefly duties and people were going about their day doing their own thing. I sent Scardian back to inform the dragons of a possible upcoming fight but I prayed to the gods it wouldn't come that since I was hoping I might be able to find Drago before he could come to Berk. I dismounted Toothless and walked up to my dad who was talking with Gobber but stopped when they noticed me and before they could say anything I said.
"Dad we need to talk, now!" He nodded.
"What is it Hiccup, I don't see you this serious that often."
"I had a run in with one of the top dragon trappers working for the same man as those other men I captured were working for and learnt a few things that answer more than a few questions I've had for a while."
"Like what?"
"Like who Johan and Krogan were working for and why their employer wants a bewilderbeast."
"Who is it and why?"
"His name is something like Dragy Bludyfist or something and he's putting together a dragon army." I saw the color drain from my father's face, as he looked me in the eye while placing his hands on my shoulder and asked.
"Drago Bludvist?" I nodded.
"That's the name." I raised an eyebrow. "Do you know him?"
He just walked away with a glint in his eye that I'd seen only during war times like during the times of the hunters. I quickly followed him as he began yelling out orders at people to prepare our naval defenses and be on guard. He even turned to Gobber ordering him to start forging as many weapons as he could since he wants the armory fully stocked and more catapults and ballistae made. It was then he turned to me and said.
"Hiccup I need you to ensure you keep your island hidden and also to supply us with every last weapon in your armory." He then stroked his beard a moment before stopping and looking me in the eyes. "Do you know any of your foreign allies who'd be willing to help us in a fight?"
"Well yeah all of the rulers told me that should I ever need an army all I'd have to do is ask and they'd be happy to lend me some of their soldiers."
"Good because we're going to need every able-bodied warrior we can get and see if they'll give us any catapults or ballistae they can spare."
"Dad what's this all about?" He turned to face me.
"A war is coming son and we need to be prepared for it."
"But such extreme measures for a guy you once knew?" He grabbed my shoulder and looked me in the eye.
"Drago Bludvist is a mad man without conscience or mercy and if he's put together a dragon army then Gods help us all." He shook his head and turned around before shouting out more orders.
"Dad, I need to know more about this guy if I'm going to request the aid of my allies since they'll want to know if we've tried reasoning with him."
"Drago Bludvist cannot be reasoned with son." He turned to face the ocean. "We need to fortify the island."
"Can't this be handled peacefully?"
"Peace is over Hiccup, this is war times."
"War?" I sighed. "Dad I've faced worse threats than a mad man and if he's coming for my dragons then I need to take him down sooner rather than later." He turned back to me. "I can follow the trappers to him and try to reason with him." He glared.
"It's in no way that simple Hiccup." He turned away.
"But if there's even a chance to prevent war from happening-"
"There is no chance of that son."
"Why do you believe that?" He turned back to me.
"Because war is what he wants son!" My eyes widened at this as he sighed. "You don't know Drago like I know him so just drop any thought of reasoning with him and help prepare for war because you don't know what he's like." He then began to walk away and bark out new orders but I was getting sick of this game so I took out my crystal spear and threw it ahead of him making it land in front of him with the crystal end imbedding itself into the ground before a wall of crystals burst from the ground cutting him off as he turned to me but before he could say anything I cut him off.
"Then tell me what he's like." I said this in a tone that made it clear there was no room for arguments so he sighed and said.
"Years ago, there was great gathering of chieftains to discuss the dragon scourge we all faced, into our midst came a stranger from a strange land covered in scars and draped in a cloak of dragon skin." He looked down and whispered. "He carried no weapon and spoke softly saying that he Drago Bludvist was a man of the people, devoted to freeing man from the tyranny of dragons." He looked back up at me. "He claimed that he alone could control the dragons and that he alone could keep us safe if we chose to bow down and follow him." I raised an eyebrow.
"Knowing how you lot are you no doubt laughed at him." He nodded.
"Ey that we did until he wrapped himself in his cloak and cried out 'let's see how well you do without me' the rooftop suddenly burst into flames and from it armored dragons armored dragons descended burning the hall to the ground." My dad looked to the sky with a faraway look in his eye. "I" He looked down in mourning. "was the only one to escape." He then looked at me. "Men who kill without reason can't be reasoned with." I kept a straight face.
"Do you honestly think I haven't learnt that in my life?" He opened his mouth to reply but I cut him off. "I know of Drago's kind and they all have a reason to kill and it's always the same reason."
"What is their reason then?"
"They want to be feared which makes them feel powerful." I rubbed my prosthetic arm. "Babajide, Desert Flower, Madhimaran, Morgan le Fey and of course Cronus, a titan with the ability to control time, all of them are opponents who craved power and used fear in order to get it but I went up against them all and beat them all." I shrugged. "Compared to them a human being with an army is nothing more than an annoyance." I pulled my spear from the ground before having it re-enter my arm.
"I can't let you do this Hiccup; the man has an army of dragons and an army of warriors." I turned to face my father.
"And I have my own dragon army, two Bewilderbeasts, a green death, a purple death, a three headed ice spitting dragon, mythical animal including the son of Fenrir, an army of Anubis warriors and multiple bags of dragon teeth that can literally grow an army of fierce armed warriors."
"Hiccup I can't let you go after him." I turned to him. "A chief's duty is to protect his people and despite what you may think you are still and always have been the future chief of Berk." I raised an eyebrow. "Surprised?" Before I could even nod. "Hiccup when you first left I never gave up on the hopes of you returning to us which is why the minute you did I reinstated you as heir despite you leaving the tribe." He sighed and looked at me in the eye as he took my shoulders. "Hiccup I know I haven't been the best chief or father to you and you'll more than likely never forgive me or the village for all the pain we put you through but you have a duty to protect our people." I sighed and shook my head before looking up at him.
"That's exactly why I have to confront Drago now rather than just sit back and wait for him to attack us." I then looked him in the eye. "I'm really sorry about this dad." It was then I released a small speed stinger dart from my sleeve and stabbed it into him making him freeze up as he stared at me in shock as I turned to Gobber. "Gobber when he comes to let him know I'm truly sorry for doing this to him but I can't let Drago attack Berk with his army." Before he could reply I quickly mounted Toothless and we were off.
Four hours later
I'd spent half an hour checking on Drago Bludvist with my golden falcons and I was not happy with what I saw. He had an armada of armed men and armored dragons. Should he attack the village everyone would be slaughtered but fortunately with my own dragons and my alpha's we stood a chance at least. It was then Eret's ship finally came into view making me smile until they launched nets at us making us need to move quickly to dodge them before we swooped down and landed on the deck where Eret smiled and pointed his sword at me as he said.
"And here I was worried we'd show up empty handed." I dismounted Toothless as I rolled my eyes.
"Nope you're going to show up with one nightfury and its rider who's going to beat Drago Bludvist." I walked over to the railing and leaned against it. "Don't worry we won't be any trouble." It was then they all pointed their weapons at us making Toothless growl. "Unless you do that, you know wooden boat with a big ocean so if you plan on doing that I hope you're good at swimming." The hooded guy looked down and said.
"Not good." Eret stepped forward with his left arm holding his sword.
"What game are you playing?"
"No game, just want to meet with Drago."
"Why?"
"Because I'm going to make sure he doesn't hurt any human or dragon again." They all chuckled. "Trust me men, I've faced a whole lot worse than some mad man to protect my dragons."
"Like what?"
"Well there's the demon from Arabia who enslaved Toothless using dark, the dark sorceress Morgan le Fey who took Toothless hostage and my most recent adventure in Greece brought me up against the titan Cronus and the furies who once again enslaved Toothless along with my first Griffin and a few of my other dragons." They all stared at me as if I was crazy but I just shrugged. "Yeah, I live a pretty full life."
"Why would you go through all that for that dragon or the others?" I rubbed Toothless' head.
"They're amazing creatures who will do anything for you once you've earned their loyalty there is nothing they won't do for you."
"You honestly expect us to believe that?" I raised an eyebrow.
"You're talking to a guy who had your men attacked by creatures with the heads of jackals while you wrestled with a beast that had black flames on its body before the beasts that attacked your men turned to sand and the creature attacking you ran through the shadows." He just glared.
"Well that thing also paralyzed my arm so if you think we'll help you you've got another thing coming." I snapped my fingers.
"Oh, yeah I forgot about your arm." I looked to my shadow. "Amr, come!" As soon as the words left my mouth Amr rose out of my own shadow while looking up at me waiting for an order as I kneeled down and patted his head. "Hey pal do me a favor and undo what you did to Eret's arm." He just growled before turning and walking up to Eret who held his sword ready but Amr was faster and had him pinned before breathing his white flames onto his arm for a second before stopping and walking back to my side where I rubbed his head. "Good boy." I then turned back to Eret. "You shouldn't have any more problems with your arm now Eret." He lifted it up and moved it around a few times.
"What is that thing?"
"Amr is one of the dark god Set's totem animals known as a Sha." I gave Amr another head rub. "I got him after stopping Set from returning to our realm and also striking a major blow to his power impressing Amr who then chose to serve me."
"If you want the full story then you'll have to wait another time since it's a long one." I then signaled Amr to return home and he walked back into the shadows and vanished as I turned back to Eret and his men. "Now where were we" Eret glared at me.
"If you plan to convince any of us that dragons are anything but mindless beasts." I smiled.
"Well I can change yours." I gave Toothless a pat on the head as I switched his tail to automatic. "Right here, right now." I gestured to Toothless as Eret and his crew stared at me. "May I?" He smiled.
"Well since Drago doesn't care if I deliver you dead or alive" He pulled out his sword. "I'll give you as long as it takes" He turned around and swung his sword around. "to remove that oversized head of yours." He turned back to me. "How's that?" I shrugged.
"Fair enough." I walked over to some barrels. "So, you trap dragons and ship them North to Drago." He walked up to the railings with his sword ready.
"Except when they're stolen by you." He hopped onto the railings before swinging on the masts rope and leapt at me with his sword ready to be brought down as I pulled the rope holding the barrels setting them free to roll.
"Right!" Eret landed on a barrel and began rolling on it. "My friend the dragon thief and his ice spitting buddy." Eret rolled on the barrel.
"The days of rescuing dragons are over!" He swiped at me with his sword. "Drago has found the ice spitters cave!" He began rolling toward me as I ducked under the sail. "Soon all of your dragons will be claimed for his army."
"Yeah how'd he pulls that whole dragon army off since dragons aren't the easiest thing to" He kicked the barrel on at me but I caught it with both arms and put it down as I finished with. "train?" Eret held me against the railing with one hand as he glared at me.
"Even dragons know not to cross Drago Bludvist." He then raised an eyebrow. "Is this part of changing my mind?"
"That parts coming up." I hit a gear next to me making the rope it was holding rapidly lift as I took it with my prosthetic allowing me to be carried up with it as Eret looked up at me.
"Come now Drago's about to take over the world." I swung from the rope onto the top of one of the sails. "You're either with him or against him." I turned to Eret who just reached the top of the sail. "And the way I see it against is a losing proposition." He held his sword towards me as he scowled. "Any last words to change my mind?" I shrugged.
"Nope!" I released my starsword. "Just this." I cut the rope holding the sails down catapulting us towards some rocks as Eret screamed before looking at me.
"YOU IDIOT!" I just shrugged.
"TRY TO ENJOY YOUR FLIGHT ERET!" It was then Toothless flew under me allowing me to mount him as he grabbed Eret when he was only a second away from going splat on some rocks as he screamed before we flew up back to the ship making Eret fall to the floor as I asked. "So?" He got up and looked at me.
"So, what?" He pointed at me. "You didn't do anything" He pointed to Toothless. "your dragon did it all."
Exactly, once you've earned their loyalty there is nothing a dragon won't do for you."
"Oh, they've done plenty for us." He turned back to his men. "Right lads- "He was cut off when all his men were looking at us and turned to see me while I was scratching Toothless.
"Good work bud." I then smiled as he rolled onto his back allowing me to get at his belly while I spoke in a baby like voice. "You saved the big loud mouth from splattering on the rocks, oh yes you did." I turned back to Eret and his men. "Dragons are complicated creatures but they can be understood with enough time." I then mounted Toothless. "Just think about what I said Eret and when you see Drago tell him that Hiccup Haddock is coming for him and going to make sure his reign of terror comes to an end one way" I released my Khopesh blade. "Or the other." We then took off into the sky before they could react but I turned back to look at the back of their ship with my eagle eye and smiled at the outline of my changewings. "All according to plan bud." He just crooned and nodded. "Thanks to our distraction Angel and Phantom were able to sneak on board with no problem and they'll make sure those men don't capture any more dragons and with any luck they'll make sure Drago doesn't do any harm to Eret and his men before reporting back to us on Drago's location." Toothless growled. "Call me crazy bud but I think they might be potential allies in the future." He just huffed and turned back to the sky ahead of us.
Two hour later
The sun was beginning to set as me and Toothless flew high above the clouds with me lying back on Toothless as I went over today's events. I'd sent my changewings under the cover of their own cloaking ability to keep an eye on Eret and his men to ensure they didn't trap any more dragons but also ensure the safety of Eret and his men since there's no doubt if what my father and Eret said about Drago was true then he'd more than likely kill them. It was then I felt the presence of another and figured it was probably just Hermes messing with me. I sat up and said.
"Hermes I'm not in the mood to- "
The words died in my mouth when I saw the person who was with me wasn't the messenger of the Greek gods but someone else entirely. This person was wearing what I recognized as leather armor with a red, torn cape and strips of fabric around their waist, wooden claws above her knuckles, a masking helmet with five horns on top and two at the bottom like tusks, that was probably there to hide her identity. This armor was covered in blue and red paint while the shield they held in their left hand was splattered with blue, red and yellow paint and in their right hand was some sort of staff. They stared at me for a few seconds before sinking back into the clouds with their covered eyes never leaving Toothless and I. I patted Toothless on the head and whispered.
"Keep your guard up bud."
No sooner did I say that did the person burst from the clouds standing on the back of a large stormcutter dragon that circled around us. The figure pointed at me with their staff as they came to hover in front of us with the stormcutter exposing its hidden wings and kicking up the clouds like dust as I stared at the figure in shock. Before I could even react though a shovelhelm dragon swooped down and grabbed me off the saddle before I could set Toothless' tail to automatic making him plummet to the ground as I yelled.
"TOOTHLESS!" I could then only look back and watch as the shovelhelm carried me away before I looked up at the rider and yelled. "YOU LEFT MY DRAGON AND HE CAN'T FLY ON HIS OWN, HE'LL DROWN!" My cries seemed to fall on depth ears as the rider just ignored me as we flew through an opening in some rocks to see what I recognized as a large ice nest belonging to a bewilderbeast before we flew in and landed in a dark cave where I was let down. "WE HAVE TO GO BACK FOR MY DRAGON!"
A dragon in front of me growled in warning as I looked around to see all the dragons glaring at me and knew I needed to calm them down so I channeled a red crystal in my arm and ignited it gaining their attention. I waved it around my head gaining the attention of all the dragons around me before I lowered and slowly extended it towards the dragon while extinguishing the hand but keeping the arm lit. Before I could touch the dragon however the stranger in the armor stepped to the side gaining my attention. I turned to face them while extinguishing my arm and asked.
"Who are you, the dragon thief?" They didn't reply. "Can you even understand what I'm saying?" They swung their staff around making sweeping noises before slamming it down making beads inside the head rattle as the sound echoed through the cave while the dragons growled before a thunderclaw flew over and dropped Toothless in front of me filling me with relief. "Toothless!" He shook off the water as I ran up to him and rubbed his head. "I'm so happy to see your alright bud." He licked my head. "You really had me worried." He just crooned as the stranger shook their staff making it rattle before a thunderclaw lit the flame in its mouth as the stranger kept making their staff rattle and one by one each of the dragons in front of us did the same as Toothless growled. "Easy their bud." The stranger approached us as they dropped their staff and shield before dropping to all fours and slowly crawling over to Toothless who growled as the figure held out their hand and waved their fingers in front of his face and he collapsed on his back crooning as the figure ran a hand over his chin before turning to me. "Don't think that will work on me." They then reached up towards my face as I leaned back but then they gasped and pulled back before they spoke for the first time asking.
"Hiccup?" I raised an eyebrow and nodded before they took off their helmet to reveal a woman staring at me with wide eyes. "Could it really be, after all these years?" She smiled as I stared at her.
"Do I know you?" She frowned and looked down.
"No, you were only a babe" She then looked up at me. "but a mother never forgets." I felt my body freeze up in shock at this as I stared at her but before I could say anything she shushed me before she smiled as she began walking away. "Come!" I quickly followed her into her cave as I said.
"Hold on for just a minute." She didn't stop.
"This way!"
"Come back here!"
"Come!"
"You can't just say something like that and run off!" I waved my arms. "You're my mother, I mean what the-" I ducked under a jutting rock. "Do you even grasp how insane that sounds and that's coming from a guy who's faced beasts that were once thought of as legends to frighten children?" She climbed up some rocks.
"Come quickly." I climbed up the same rock.
"Where have you been all this time?" I climbed over the rock. "What have you been doing?" I followed after her. "They said you were dead." I ducked under another rock. "Everyone thinks you were eaten by-"
I ducked under another rock and froze at the sight of a large ice nest with the ice covered in foliage as multiple species of dragons flew around an ice support beam as I walked forward to the near edge of the stone platform to watch them. I looked to the side and saw a few gronkle hatchlings playing on the moss as Toothless walked up next to me. He then let out a low rumble and pointed his head up towards something and I turned to see none other than the stormcutter hanging from the roof of the stone part with my mother held with him. It was then I asked.
"This is where you've been for twenty years?" She nodded. "You've been recuing them?" She nodded. "Unbelievable!"
"You're not upset?"
"Upset's not exactly the feeling I would say I'm experiencing right now." I kept a straight face. "More like a mixture of shock, confusion and anger as it's not every day you find out the mother who you believed to be dead turned out to have just abandoned you to a life of abuse in order to become some crazy vigilante dragon lady." The stormcutter let her down as she stared at me.
"Did you say abuse?" I clenched my fists and nodded.
"Every single day in that village you left me in was a day filled with beatings, insults, having my stuff stolen and being treated like dirt by both my generation and the younger generation all while the majority of the older generation just turned a blind eye to it all."
"But what about your father?" I raised an eyebrow. "Didn't he try to stop the bullying?" I gave a single fake laugh.
"Please the man passed off them teens holding me against the wall of a hut as another beat me as a simple game, ignored my crying because of the wounds and just told me to man up and took the sides of the other teens whenever they caused an accident and blamed it on me despite the fact that I was nowhere near the sight of the accident." I sighed. "If it wasn't for Gobber standing by me I would've been completely alone." Toothless crooned and rubbed up against me making me smile. "Then I shot Toothless down but as usual nobody believed me so I went after him myself but instead of killing him I set him free." I chuckled. "Best decision of my stinking life." I saw her knuckles clench around her staff as she walked up to her dragon. "And where are you off to now?" She turned to me with a fire in her eyes.
"To have a chat with that father of yours and to give both him and those villagers a good whack to the head to knock some sense into them."
"And why do you plan on doing this."
"Because it's my duty as a mother to do so and my duty as a wife to knock some sense into that father of yours." Hearing this made my blood boil.
"So, you're planning to actually do your motherly duties and go confront them." She turned to face me but before she could say anything. "You're about fifteen years too late since that's when the bullying started and ten years later I left the village before a few months later I returned after putting an end to the raids with the help of Toothless and my other dragons before I finally confronted those idiots about their treatment of me before weeks later I gave them another chance." I sighed. "They actually managed to prove they regretted how they treated me and make me believe they'd changed their ways." I then growled. "Sadly a few months ago it was proven that the parents of Berk still needed to have their eyes opened to see the so called 'games' their children were playing were actually assault."
"How'd you get them to open up their eyes?"
"Easy I just played the games their children were playing with their parents which is when they finally opened their eyes that what their kids were doing was wrong and my dear father actually understood how he had truly failed as a father." I saw her look down in regret before looking back up at me.
"Hiccup, I am truly sorry for leaving you to that and I know you may never forgive me but if there's any way I can at least try to make it up to you just tell me." I looked at her with no emotion on my face.
"You can start by telling me why you left and never returned to begin with." She sighed.
"It was back when you were a baby." She looked down. "Berk was a land of kill or be killed but I believed peace was possible." She sighed. "It was a very unpopular opinion." She then looked up at me. "Then one night a dragon broke into our house finding you in the cradle, I rushed to protect you but what I saw was proof of everything I believed." She turned to the stormcutter. "This wasn't a vicious beast but an intelligent gentle creature whose soul reflected my own." She turned back to me. "You and your father nearly died that night because I couldn't kill a dragon." I turned to Toothless.
"I know the feeling."
"It broke my heart to stay away but I believed you'd be safer if I did."
"How'd you survive though?" She pointed to the stormcutter with her staff.
"Cloudjumper never meant to harm me." She lowered her staff and began walking to the edge with me following. "He must've thought I belonged here." She then pointed to a resting Bewilderbeast lying in a lake. "In the home of the great bewilderbeast." I looked down at it.
"So that's where the bewilderbeast of this nest is." My mom turned to me.
"You know about bewilderbeasts?"
"I've encountered a few in my travels." She nodded as she led me down a slope.
"Well this is the king of the dragons and we all live under his command and protection." It was then a group of dragons I recognized as Scuttleclaws jumped out of the bushes and ran at Toothless only for Cloudjumper to roar and scare them off. "All except the babies who listen to no one." She then laughed as they all flew down and began playing on the bewilderbeasts head waking him up and stand to face us. "I've lived among them for twenty years Hiccup, discovering their secrets." The bewilderbeast then blew a cold mist onto me covering my face and hair in frost as my mom chuckled. "He likes ye." I turned to her as I rubbed the frost from my hair and turned to her.
"Alright but do you have any nightfuries in this nest?" She shook her head before turning to Toothless.
"No, I've never seen one up close before now." She turned to me and slowly approached Toothless. "Can I?" I just nodded before she ran a hand over his head. "Oh, he's beautiful." Toothless then nuzzled her and wrapped around her. "He might very well be the last of his kind." Toothless then rolled onto his back. "And look, he's your age." I was impressed with her knowledge as Toothless stood in front of her smiling and retracted his teeth making her open his mouth as she stuck her head in. "And retractable teeth." She began stroking his tongue. "How did you manage to train him?" I sighed.
"Like I said before, I shot him down but when I went to kill him I couldn't do it since I saw he was just as scared as I was so I cut him free before he flew off or at least tried to." I pointed at his prosthetic. "His tail got damaged when he crashed and although it took me a few days to get him to trust me and build his prosthetic but once I did my life changed dramatically for the better." She turned to me frowning before walking over to a blue snafflefang with orange patches.
"This snafflefang lost his leg to one of Drago Bludvists iron traps." She then picked up her staff and used it to lift the damaged wing a raincutter. "This raincutter got its wing sliced on razor netting." She then turned to a blind purple hobblegrunt. "And this poor hobblegrunt was blinded by a tree snare and left to die scared and alone." The hobblegrunt rested its head in her arms as it turned from purple to yellow as I looked down and sighed.
"I rescued a few from some dragons' trappers who either took a limb or damaged their wings." I looked down at my own prosthetic. "
"What did you do with them?"
"The dragons or the trappers?" I looked at her and raised an eyebrow.
"Both!" I sighed.
"The trappers are now cooling their heels in the Outcast dungeons while the dragons are now safely living with my own dragons with the injured ones using prosthetics I build them." She stared at me for a few moments.
"We really have a lot to catch up on."
"Clearly we do." She nodded but I could tell she was holding back her desire to question me.
"You must be hungry." I shrugged.
"Yeah, I could eat."
"Good, because it's feeding time." I nodded as she led me away but I never let my guard down.
Five hours later
It's been five hours since I was captured by the woman who turned out to be my mother who turned out to be alive and well, spending the last twenty years rescuing dragons and learning about them. We've spent the last five hours together with my mother showing me how she spent her days beginning with the bewilderbeast spitting up a ton of fish for the dragons to eat and showing me a brief drawing of the surrounding lands. I in turn told her of some of the lands I'd been to but decided against telling her the danger I was often in or the rewards I got for saving the people. I did however tell her about how I lived on an island near Berk but not what island near Berk in my own place with my own dragons and animals I'd adopted along with what my life on Berk is like these days when I decide to visit the village. She was surprised when I told her about how everyone had come to accept Toothless and any other dragons I brought with me. Now we'd just finished enjoying an updraft of wind that allowed the dragons to just spread their wings allowing them to simply glide without moving. We flew away from the updraft as my mother kneeled down on Cloudjumper and said.
"Oh, when I'm up here I don't even feel the cold, I just feel-"
"Free!" She smiled at me and I smiled back before turning back to the sky and holding out her arms.
"This is what it is to be a dragon Hiccup." I decided to show her how I was a bit more dragon then her.
"It's all good to call yourself a dragon." I switched Toothless tail to automatic as I stood up. "But can you" I jumped over Toothless' head. "FLY!"
I free fell for a few seconds before I released my wings and began to glide, turning my head back to look at my mom's reaction only to see she wasn't there but when I turned to my side I saw her smiling at me. It was then I saw a large stone formation with a hole in it. I decided to be a bit risky and flew right towards the hole before closing my wings as I dived through the hole. As I went through the hole I swept up a bit of snow before I opened my wings again and glided down towards the ground while doing a simple turn and coming to land on the snow-covered ground. I folded my wings in smiling as I shook a little snow off them and my head as Toothless came to land by me while staring at me in concern. I smiled at him and said.
"Well that was fun." I spread my wings out a little so I could look at them. "I really have to use these more often, don't I bud?" He just swiped his tail beneath my legs making me fall into the snow as I laughed before standing up as my mother ran up to me and pulled open one of my wings and examining them.
"Incredible!" She examined the joint.
"Thanks, but could you not tug that's actually painful." She seemed to ignore my words in favour of examining my wings from the front until her hand went to my face as she began examining me smiling and being silent.
"All this time you took after me." She then frowned and looked down. "And, where was I?" She looked back up at me as she placed a hand on my shoulder. "I'm so sorry Hiccup, can we start over?" I looked down thinking if I should. "Will you give me another chance?" I looked up and saw the sincerity in her eyes and smiled. "I can teach you all that I've learnt these past twenty years." She walked up to Toothless and stroked his head. "Like!" She pressed down on a spot on his neck before the spines on his back split apart making me smile. "Now he can make those tight turns." Toothless ran up to me in excitement as I stared at his spines while patting his head.
"Did you know about this?" He just turned back to look at his spines before opening and closing them.
"Every dragon has its secrets and I'll show them all to you." She walked up to me as Toothless ran around me. "We'll unlock every mystery," Toothless burrowed under the snow. "find every species together" She placed a hand on my shoulder. "as mother and son." Toothless burst out from the snow in front of Cloudjumper, covering the stormcutters crown in snow making us both laugh before he turned his head dropping the snow onto Toothless as I turned to my mother. "This gift we share Hiccup, it bonds us." She placed her hand on my shoulder. "This is who you are son, who we are." She took her hand off my shoulder. "We will change the world for all dragons, we will make it a better, safer place."
"Yeah." I ran a hand through my hair. "That sounds amazing."
Then before I could react she hugged me and after a few seconds I hugged her back since I had to admit it actually felt good to hug my mother for the first time I could remember since I'm sure she hugged me when I was a baby. She pulled away smiling more than likely thinking of the life we could have together but I knew the life she was picturing couldn't happen with Drago Bludvist still around. Knowing this I sighed and said.
"Mom that life does sound great but it can't happen with Drago Bludvist still around so it'll have to wait until I've taken him down." I saw her eyes widen hearing this.
"Hiccup you can't do that, he's too powerful and you're way too young to go after that mad man and his army." Hearing this reminded me of what my father said to me before I paralyzed him with a dart. "Hiccup I don't want you to get hurt in any battles against Drago." She walked over to Cloudjumper while I clenched my fists. "We take care of our own Hiccup." Hearing this coming from her I felt the urge to slap her becoming more difficult to hold back and all I could do was growl out.
"Too powerful to go up against?" I looked up at her. "I have been through more than enough to deal with a power crazed maniac intent on taking over the world." She kept her attention on Cloudjumper.
"Hiccup, just because you've dealt with idiots on Berk and doesn't mean you're ready to go up against a mad man like Drago." I looked down while glaring at the ground as I felt my blood boil and growled.
"You obviously have no idea what I've been through."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean just what I said." I then looked up at her with a glare that actually made her and Cloudjumper step back. "That you have no idea what unspeakable horrors and pains I've been through." She was about to reply but I didn't give her a chance. "You think Drago Bludvist is someone I should fear then you're dead wrong." I took a breath. "In my life I've travelled to many places after leaving that wretched village on Berk and in any every place I go to I go up against some sort of beast or power-hungry sociopath with ALL OF WHICH HAVE ABILITIES THAT WOULD MAKE DRAGO BLUDVIST AND ANY OF HIS SOLDIERS TURN AROUND AND RUN WITH THEIR TAILS BETWEEN THEIR LEGS AS THEY WET THEMSELVES." She took a step back into Cloudjumper and raised her hands.
"Now Hiccup calm down." I glared at her.
"No you listen here, I've gone up against a demon who not only used his dark magic to enslaved my nightfury and turn him into little more than a mindless puppet but also turn him into a beast that would make your worst nightmares scream in fear, a witch who was able to summon warriors that were not only skilled but couldn't be harmed by mortal weapons, two banshee's, frost giants that had a giant dragon with three heads, an insane high priest who had control over a giant stone jaguar and those are just some of the things I can list off the top of my head." I could see she was shocked. "Furthermore, my latest trip to Greece brought me up against the Titan king Cronus who had the ability to manipulate time, the three furies at his side and an army of monsters under his command and I went up against every kind of monster in his army and walked away without a scratch other than a few dents in my armour." I took a breath. "I came out on top of every enemy I went up and with every victory I was given a gift from the gods to aid me in future battles" I raised my prosthetic fist and looked down at it. "So don't tell me that I should be afraid of Drago Bludvist because the only thing I see is a mad man who's gained an unquenchable thirst for power who's nothing compared to some of the beasts I've faced in my life." I turned back to her. "There is nothing you can say or do to stop me from taking that mad man down since if there's one thing I know about his kind, it's that they don't stop until they have all of Midgard under their control." I then pointed at her. "And you expect me to turn a blind eye to all this and allow him to rule over those in need and kill those who won't bow to him." I lowered my hand and took a breath while looking down. "As much as I hate the people of Berk for all they've done to me, I'm not going to let them be slaughtered this psychopath plus I know those dragons in his army are being forced to do his bidding because he knows how to use their fear and pain to turn them into nothing more than tools." I clenched my fists at the thought of Krogan and his flyers. "I've witnessed such methods and knowing what his seal is I know he was the one the dragon hunters answered to in their search for a bewilderbeast that endangered me, my dragons, Berk and my friends which makes him my enemy from the beginning." I looked back up at her in the eye. "I'm not going to stop until this mad man is either dead or locked in a foreign prison where he can never harm another innocent and there's nothing you can say or do that will stop me from taking him on." I then waved her off. "So go ahead and hide like you did all those years ago when you decided to abandon me and your husband instead of coming back with proof of what you believed in." I then chuckled. "You know I should strike you now for abandoning me to those people who kept asking why you and you husband didn't just ship me away so they didn't have to deal with such a useless excuse for an heir but now I see that you're not worth the bother like how you couldn't be bothered to come and check up on how your only child is doing." I turned around and mounted Toothless. "Oh, and just so you know Drago knows where the nest is and he's going to be coming soon so I'll be sticking around and preparing to fight him but if you come near me" I released my starsword and pointed it at her. "Then there's going to be problems." And with that we took off back to the nest.
Nobodies POV:
Valka dropped to her knees with tears in her eyes as she finally understands all the pain her son truly has endured all because she was too big a coward to go back and show Berk the truth or at the very least check on him to make sure he was alright. She thought this was her chance to bond with her son and although they did have a good time today and it seemed like he was willing to give her a chance she blew it by believing him to still be a child. As the tears ran down her face she thought back on her sons words and realised she had truly missed out on so much of her sons life while she was out protecting dragons when she should have been protecting her son. She looked back on what just happened and mentally beat herself up for telling him that there was nothing he could do about this mad man Drago Bludvist because she still saw him as a child that she failed to protect. The person who stood before her was no child but a man who she could tell was a warrior, a hero, a fighter and without a doubt a skilled rider. She wanted to know how he became who he is, to ask him what beasts he'd faced in his life and to know what terrors he'd faced in order to protect his dragon. Now because of her own stupidity she might never know what he's been through. As she thought back on her actions she realised she said what she said because she didn't want Hiccup to be in any danger like when she left but by leaving him on Berk just ensured he was in danger because of the people. She growled thinking of them and knew that if she ever saw them again she was going to give them a piece of her mind and a good hard strike with her staff except for he husband who's going to be given a full mind on a silver platter followed by her staff being shoved up his ass. For now though she needed to try and make right with her son but felt it best she give him time to cool off since after his rant she knew he didn't want to see her.
Drago's base
Eret and his men were not having a good day with what's been happening to them with their fortress being destroyed, their dragons being stolen, them being attacked by some rider with jackal headed warriors and some sort of dog that could go into the shadows that paralyzed Eret's arm and to top it all off they couldn't catch any dragons on their way to Drago Bludvist who was no doubt not going to be happy about their lack of dragons for delivery. Along with all this they felt as if something strange had been happening on their ship like they weren't alone and something was watching them. They just chalked it up to being nervous about facing Drago about their failure to bring in any new dragons but they hoped he'd understand what happened and let them off but they knew the chances of that happening were nearly none existent. Aside from what's been going on with their ship and their desire to capture more dragons to deliver to Drago another thing that's been going through their minds is what happened with Hiccup. Along with those things that he had attack them there was also what he showed them with his nightfury and what he said to them concerning dragons. These were the thoughts going through their minds as they docked in the usual spot when they delivered dragons to Drago.
Now they were being lead to Drago by a group of his men after docking their ship and questioned by Griselda and by the look in her eye she knew what fate awaited them. As they made their way away from their ship they still felt the strange presence they did on their ship but that was quickly forgotten when they saw how all those they passed had a look in their eyes showing they all knew the fate of the trappers. It was then they were brought before Drago who brought his attention away from the bubbling waters in front of his ship. He turned to face the trappers who were looking at him with fear clear in their eyes as Eret slowly walked up and said.
"Drago it's good to see you again." He just glared.
"Where are my dragons?" Eret shuffled his feet in fear as his men looked at the ground.
"Well you see Drago we had a big flock ready and waiting to be delivered to you with a bit of variety with nadders, nightmares, thu-" Drago then cut him off by growling.
"Get to the point!"
"Well you see our fortress was attacked by a rider with a bewilderbeast that destroyed our fortress and stole all our dragons."
"So you come here empty handed." Before Eret could reply. "Get rid of them." Some men walked forward and took Eret and his men by their arms as Eret said.
"Drago wait there's more." He just turned his attention back to the waters. "It's about the man who defeated Krogan and Johan." Drago perked up at this and turned to face Eret as he held his hand up signalling the men to stop.
"What did you say."
"I have information on the man who defeated Krogan and Johan."
"It better be good."
"Well you see after our fortress was destroyed we shot down a deadly nadder but before we could cage it a nightfury appeared but it had a rider." Eret took a breath. "Drago we were going to do something but before we could he called out these strange men with the heads of some kind of dog along with some kind of dog that could walk into shadows and breath black flames that left my arm paralyzed." He took another breath. "Drago he told me to pass on a message to you."
"You expect me to believe he had some sort of beasts like that under his command?" Eret just looked Drago in the eye.
"Drago I swear that's what happened." Drago just glared at him.
"What is the message he supposedly sent you with?"
"He said that his name is Hiccup Haddock and he's coming for you to end your reign of terror one way or the other." Drago growled and gripped Eret by the throat before lifting him up.
"First there was one rider and now a second rider who's the heir of Berk with supposedly magical weapons." He pulled Eret's face closer. "You lead them to me." He tossed Eret aside who wheezed while he turned and made his way up a to a lift.
"Drago?" Drago turned to face the men.
"STOP ALL PREPERATIONS!" All heads turned to him. "We must attack the dragon riders nest at once where we will take down their alpha and then we will take Berk." Eret stood up.
"DRAGO!"
"Get rid of him and his men." The armed soldiers closed in on Eret and his men before three of them threw their weapons at the trappers with the aim to kill them but before they could reach their targets Phantom flew in and intercepted the weapons knocking them back.
"A changewing!"
Before anything else could be done Phantom sprayed acid at the men making them all back up but before he could take off he was hit in the neck with a dart while Angel watched from the wall she was gripping. She knew that if she attacked them now she'd be captured
Four hours later
Back at the nest
Hiccups POV:
It's been four hours since I finally let out all my repressed anger at my mother and in those four hours I've been keeping busy by preparing for Drago's attack. I had summoned ten of my Anubis warriors who were helping me practice my fighting through sparring while the others were ready to be summoned, I'd summoned Amr who was ready to help in the coming fight, my gauntlets and prosthetic were loaded with charged crystals, my gauntlets had been loaded with enough scrap metal to launch more than a few good hard balls out to launch at people and had readied my bags of Damens teeth to be sowed in order to grow the skeletal warriors.
Now I was in the cave in the nest where Toothless and I were brought when we were first captured getting ready for the fight to come. I was standing in a circle of seven Anubis warriors while three of them sparred with me in the centre of the circle with my star sword and khopesh while Toothless was lounging on the ground outside the circle watching me with Amr lounging next to him. I just ducked under an axe swing to perform a leg sweep before he fell down as I got up and turned holding my weapons up to block the strike of two incoming weapons and then pushing them back knocking the warriors back. I got in my battle stance ready for another attack but was brought out of it by the sound of Amr growling and turning to see him ignite the flames on his back and paws as he stood up to glare at the person who was staring at us in shock. This person was none other than my mother who hadn't come near me since I released my emotions and told her to keep her distance from me until Drago was dealt with. I sighed as Amr hopped in front of her growling making her stop and step back as I sighed and said.
"Amr, come!" I pointed to the ground on my right side and he walked over taking his place next to me with his glare never leaving my mother. "I trust you have a reason for interrupting my training." She held up a flask.
"I thought you might be thirsty so I figured I'd bring you some water." She took a step toward me but two of my warriors cut her off growling with their axes shaking in their grip.
"Stand down!" They nodded and stepped aside as my mom walked up to me with my Anubis warriors glaring down at her as she gulped in fear before I took the offered flask and had a sip of the water before looking at my mother who was looking around in fear. "Is something wrong?" She turned back to me.
"What are these creatures?" I pointed to Amr.
"Amr is a sha." I pointed to the Anubis warriors. "They are Anubis warriors and I have forty others that I can summon to my aid making a total of fifty of them under my command." She just nodded and stared at them. "Is there anything else I can do for you." She looked down at the ground and took a breath before looking me in the eye.
"Hiccup I just wanted to say I am truly sorry for everything." I raised an eyebrow. "I'm sorry for leaving you in that abusive village, I'm sorry I never bothered to check up on you, I'm sorry I was never there to stop the bullying and knock some sense into that father of yours, I'm sorry I was never there for you when you needed me." I nodded as she sighed. "And I'm sorry for not thinking you could handle Drago but I've seen him a few times and he's got a large army and I don't want to lose you after I've just gotten you back." I sighed and shook my head.
"Mom, I understand your concern but I've gone up against far worse threats in my life than Drago Bludvist." I looked down. "You don't even know what I've faced and the power I gained from the gods in return for it." She placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Then tell me." I raised an eyebrow. "Tell me everything." I sighed and turned to my Anubis warriors. "You are dismissed!" With that they turned back into the sand that formed their bodies.
Drago's fleet
Nobodies POV:
Drago stood at the front of his ship striking the chains with his bull hook as he glared down at the water while at the back of the ship Eret and his men were being forced to walk on part of the wall that had been lowered down like a drawbridge by six of Drago's men. What none of the men on the ship knew however was that on the ship cloaking herself was none other than Hiccups female changewing Angel who avoided being caught like her mate by staying back even though it broke her heart to do so. Eret was forced towards the edge of the dropped wall and looked down at the water as two guards with spears walked towards him with their weapons pointed at them. Eret turned to face them and said.
"I don't suppose there's any way I could convince you men to let us go."
They just growled and got ready to stab him but before they could do so Angel used her tail to swat them back before uncloaking herself and glaring at the men. The men were stunned but before they could do anything Eret caught one of the spears and used it to cut the ropes binding his hands. One of the guards got ready to fire a dart at Angel but the hooded trapper rammed into his side as he blew making the dart his one of the guards in the neck instead before Angel grabbed the one who fired the dart and tossed him into another guard that was pointing his spear at her. The remaining guard readied another dart but before he could bring the blowpipe to his lips Eret punched him and took the pipe before firing the dart at the remaining guard who was running to tell the others. Eret turned to Angel smiling as he said.
"Hiccup send you and your friend to watch out for us?" She growled and nodded before looking back at his men. "We'll have to thank him the next time we see him." He turned back to Angel. "For now though we best find that friend of yours and get out of here." Angel growled and nodded before Eret turned back to his men. "Come on boys, we owe it to that dragon for saving us so check the traps." They all gave words of agreement and went to work.
1 hour later
Back at the nest
Hiccups POV:
It's been an hour since I decided to tell my mom about what I've been through starting with how I came to meet Toothless and why I left the village to begin with. When I told her of my life there and what dad she said about me she was so mad that there was a vein on her forehead that looked ready to pop out. She literally swung her staff around in anger a few times while talking about how she was going to shove her staff so far up my father's bottom that she'd be able to use him as a scarecrow. I just sat down and watched her vent her frustrations with Toothless, Amr and Cloudjumper who was looking at her in concern but I just raised my hand making him stop and told him to just let her at it since it's not healthy for her to bottle it up. When she finally calmed down I asked her if she felt better and she told me she felt a little better before she asked what I did in order to get my Anubis warriors. I then told her of the threats I faced and listed the creatures I've been up against and an explanation on what they were. When I finished the list I thought she was becoming a ghost with how white she'd gone. This brings us to where we are now which is my mother sitting down on a boulder processing everything I'd told her about my adventures. I looked at her as she stared into space and asked.
"Mom, are you alright?" Before I could react she grabbed my shoulders.
"You've honestly been up against such beasts." I nodded.
"And I was well rewarded by the gods for my victories against them." I could see tears forming in her eyes as she reached up to rub my cheek.
"I'm so sorry I wasn't there for you during those battles." I shrugged.
"If you were there you would've only gotten in the way, it's better that I took them on by myself since the last thing I want was anyone else being put in the same danger as I was."
"Still if there's any way I could make it up to you just let me know."
"Just come back to Berk with your dragons and actually do your duties."
"My duties?"
"Your duties as a wife to knock some sense into the empty head of that man you call a husband and your duties as a mother to actually be there for me when I need you." I smiled. "And besides, we have a lot of catching up to do." She smiled back.
"That we do."
"I get the feeling though that I'm going to have a hard time getting your attention away from my dragons as I have some that I guarantee you've never seen before."
"You've already proven that with that nightfury of yours." She gestured to toothless who was lightly growling and turned to face the nest.
"Toothless?" I looked out at the nest and saw all the dragons flying out. "What's going on?"
I turned back to my mom to ask her what was happening but she was running out of the cave with a look of fear in her eyes. Seeing her like this made me worry so I quickly followed after her down the ice covered passage way towards an opening where my mom was standing on a piece of ice that was sticking out. I ran up next to her to see the ice was overlooking the beach. It was as I reached her side and looked down I realised Drago and his army had arrived and begun their attack. There were multiple ships docked and hundreds of troops marching off them while others were either arming the men or manning what I recognised as Drago's traps some of which were being pulled by armoured dragons. Above these men flying in formations were armoured dragons getting ready to help Drago in his attack but I knew they were as much of victims of Drago as the other dragons. I looked out at the gathered army and could only say one thing.
"Oh no!" My mom then began to walk away with a determined look in her eye. "Mom!" She ignored me until I grabbed her arm and turned her to face me. "It's alright, we're a team now." She nodded. "Now what do you want to do?" She placed a hand on my shoulder.
"We have to save the dragons!" I nodded.
"Don't worry, I'll summon all of my Anubis warriors to even the odds a bit but before I do you need to show me a place with multiple exits to the beach." She nodded as I smiled. "But first." She raised an eyebrow as I released my spirit bow and took out a forest arrow. "You never did ask me what my god made weapon could do." I walked up to the edge as I loaded the arrow. "Watch!"
I opened my eagle eye and took aim at what I recognised as a Zipple Catcher and let the arrow fly landing a direct hit between the two heads. I saw the men manning it look at my arrow in confusion until it rapidly sprouted roots that began digging into the wood. One of them tried to run up to the arrow only to be tripped as the roots began to sprout out from the wood and tear the machine apart. My mom turned to me in shock as I took out a water arrow and loaded it while saying.
"Things just got a whole lot more difficult for Drago and his men." She smiled as I aimed at one of the gronkle cannons and launching the arrow while smiling as it hit its target and sliced it right through the centre. "Now take me to where I can summon my army." She nodded and lead me back into the nest where Toothless and Amr ran up next to us as we were lead through many twists and turns before arriving in a large cavern that had multiple tunnel openings.
"All these tunnels lead outside but it'll still be a bit of a long fall for your warriors."
"How high?"
"Thirty feet but it's the closest to the ground with right now."
"Don't worry as my warriors can do the drop without sustaining any injuries." She nodded and gestured to the cavern.
"Will this be enough room to summon them all?" I nodded.
"Yeah it will and don't worry everything will be fine." She nodded. "Now go and get Cloudjumper and get ready for the battle." She nodded and turned around to run but looked back at me.
"Be careful out there Hiccup." I nodded.
"You to mom." She then turned back and ran down one of the tunnels as I looked at Toothless and Amr. "You guys ready to do this?" They each gave a growl of confirmation as I smiled and kneeled down before placing my prosthetic hand onto the ground and said in Egyptian. "Soldiers of Anubis, come to my aid for I am in need of your strength and the innocent are in need of your protection!" As soon as the final words left my mouth my prosthetic hand glowed gold through the openings on it before black sand rose from the ground of the cavern forming all of my Anubis warriors with the lead one walking up and bowing as he said.
"We await your commands master!" I nodded and looked out at them men before walking onto a large piece of ice so I could address them all. "Right now there is a large army being led by a mad man through these tunnels and we're going to need to do all we can to stop him." They all growled at this. "He's got an army of both men and armoured dragons along with multiple machines to help him capture the dragons of this nest so be careful out there." They all growled and nodded. "When it comes to the men, take them down hard and when it comes to the machines, see if you can take control of them and if you're able to either turn them on the armoured dragons or the men and if you can't then simply destroy them." They all growled. "Also if you find any downed dragon that's been trapped and has no armour on then free it as it's an ally and make sure the men don't lay a single hand on it." They all gripped their axes tightly. "Remember, take down the men hard, try gain command of the machines until they run out and then destroy them and free any dragon you can." They all roared and raised their weapons. "Now come and I will show you the way to the battle." They all growled as I lead them down a tunnel with Toothless and Amr at my side.
Outside
Nobodies POV:
Dragons had begun flying out of the nest and attacking the men and their machines with many of them being shot down by a net or well-aimed bola sending them crashing down to the ground. Those who were able to avoid the restraints fired at them however were tackled by Drago's armoured dragons who focused on pulling the dragons they tackled down to the ground for the men to deal with. It was then Drago Bludvist who was the man who begun this madness turned away from the nest to look back at his men giving one simple order.
"READY THE TRAPS!"
The men standing by large metal domes began turning the cranks attached to the sides slowly opening them up to reveal dragons that were tied down and trapped inside. A few dragons flew into these domes in an attempt to help the dragons inside only for the domes to close on them trapping them. One Thornridge dragon however wasn't as fortunate as the others when it was trapped as the dome closed on one of its wings no doubt causing it pain. It was as another dome closed up that a light green acid began to seep through the metal slowly melting the gears holding it closed making it the folds of the dome drop open. As soon as it was opened the male changewing known as Phantom flew out with Eret on his back, while the other domes opened up allowing the dragons inside to fly out with Eret's men on their backs surprising the men who opened them. Drago stared at the sight in a mixture of both shock and anger as the trappers took off with the dragons towards the nest as he yelled.
"WHAT IS THIS?!"
It was then Angel made her appearance next to Phantom growling at him and the other dragons while gesturing towards the ice nest with her head. Each of the dragons gave a growl of understanding before flying up to the shard of the nest with a tunnel leading inside and had their riders dismount them. They then used their heads to push the now former trappers towards the tunnels for their own safety since most of them did nearly fall off when they were flying up and the dragons needed to join the fight. The trappers understood what they meant and walked back into the tunnels but not before giving each of the dragons they rode a rub on the head while telling them to be careful before watching them take off. It was at that moment Hiccup came to the edge of the tunnel he was in on Toothless with Amr and my lead Anubis warrior on either side of him.
Hiccups POV:
I stared out at the battle with disgust seeing the methods they were using to trap the dragons since they not only grounded the dragons but also injured them. It was truly repulsive to watch as I let my spirit bow out of my arm and aimed a fire arrow at a nadder whipper catcher. I looked at my lead Anubis warrior and said.
"As soon as this arrow lands begin leading the attack on the ground forces." He growled and nodded before I turned back to my target using my eagle eye as I whispered. "Let the battle" I released the arrow which went speeding through the air striking the trap right in the mouth of the nadder. "begin!"
As soon as the words left my mouth the trap was engulfed with flames as the one manning it ran from it in fright while my Anubis warriors all let out roars and began running past us. They flowed out of the tunnel like a river with Amr and the lead warrior at the front all charging towards the army with their axes raised high. I watched with an emotionless expression as they charged at the army before I looked down at Toothless and said.
"Let's show Drago and his men why we're considered powerful bud." He growled and nodded before we took off to join the battle.
Nobodies POV:
Members of Drago's army stared in shock at the jackal headed creatures charging at them with strange axes raised high but their shock was quickly shaken away as they closed in on them. The men believing the creatures were nothing to truly fear as they greatly outnumbered them charged at them ready for the fight. How wrong they were they did not know until they met the beasts head on in battle and immediately fell victim to both their superior strength and skill. They all fought fiercely showing no restraint when fighting the men under the command of Drago Bludvist with the leader of the Anubis warriors fighting the most ferociously out of all of them.
This was clear as he brought his axe down towards a soldier armed with a spear who was trying to block the strike with the pole of a spear only for it to be sliced right through. The soldier looked down at his now destroyed weapon for only a second as that was all the time he had before the warrior grabbed him by the front and threw him a good ten feet to the left into another charging warrior sending them both sprawling to the ground. He then turned to one of the dome traps and ran right towards it while grabbing another one of Drago's men and flinging him at the man who was twisting the crank to open the trap. As he ran at it he jumped over a sword swing from one of the men before glaring down at the man who just gave a sheepish smile before the warrior lifted his clawed hand and used it to slash the man's chest while throwing him back as he screamed. The warrior then reached the trap and brought his axe down on the crank breaking both it and the spring that closed the trap making it fall open before he jumped into find a tied up nadder and immediately got to work on freeing it, using his axe to cut through the ropes before the nadder took off to join the fight.
With the nadder free the warrior leaped out of the trap landing on the man who was once manning the trap who had begun to wake up. He then ran towards one of the traps that would hold and launch a net using two large branches that had been bent back. The warrior growled at the trap before turning to two other Anubis warriors who had just flung the men they were in combat with into each other and let out a bark, gaining their attention before pointing at the trap. No words were needed between them as the two warriors nodded at him before all three charged at the trap together while trampling any man who got in their way. When they reached the trap they immediately threw the ones manning it aside as if they were nothing more than annoying flies before flipping the trap onto its side. As soon as it landed it released the net sending it flying into one of Drago's dragons that was pulling one of the traps. This lead to the entire trap falling over bringing up more problems for Drago's men who were already having a difficult time fighting these strange creatures.
The Anubis warriors however weren't the only things on the ground that the invading army had to deal with as they also had to deal with Amr who's ferocity matched that of the lead Anubis warrior as he ran across the battlefield. He pounced on any man he could while his feet were ignited leaving the nerves in the spot he touched no longer existing. This spot was often either the shoulders so the men could no longer move their arms or on their spine leaving them unable to walk. He skidded to a halt as he came to land after a jump off his latest victim and looked around for his next target with his ears raised. The Sha turned to face a group of three men charging at him with their weapons raised at they screamed about killing the demon dog. Amr just stared at them for a second before letting lose a stream of his black flames towards the ground in front of the charging men. The men didn't have the chance to stop and ran their legs right through the flames making them fall and tumble across the ground unable to move their legs.
With them out of the way Amr turned his attention to the dragon traps that were nearby. He charged towards a gronkle cannon and pounced on top of it before jumping off just as quickly leaving the cannon burning with his flames while slowly melting beyond repair. He then ran his way across the battlefield towards a raincutter that had been netted and surrounded by a group of four men. He didn't have to worry about the men since two Anubis warriors also took note of the downed raincutter and the men surrounding it. While the warriors dealt with the men Amr took care of the dragon and immediately used his flames to burn through the ropes letting the dragon free. As soon as it was free it gave a quick growl of thanks before taking off to continue to aid the other dragons in the battle up in the sky.
It was up in the sky where a whole other battle was being fought and the one doing the most damage to Drago's army was none other than Hiccup Haddock who looked upon the battle below with absolute disgust. He knew his mother was insider the nest readying the bewilderbeast for battle but she needed more time and he was all too happy to buy her as much time as he could. He'd already been doing so using his arrows to destroy more than a few of the dragon traps and stop a few of the men and dragons up in the air.
It was then Hiccup took out a forest and aimed it and an armoured thunderclaw that was wrestling with a windgnasher and let the arrow fly. The arrow struck the thunderclaw in the side and immediately began to grow roots binding its claws forcing it to let the dragon go free as the roots bound its wings sending it falling to the ground. He then took out an earth arrow and launched it at a nadder nabber which was pulled into the ground by that opened up beneath it as soon as the arrow landed. He steered Toothless to the side of three chain bola launching machines and fired a wind arrow at the side of the one on the far right sending it tumbling down to the side knocking the one next to it down which in turn also knocked down the third one that was sat next to it on the far left. Hiccup smiled at the sight but his smile quickly fell as Toothless did a sharp turn to avoid a net launched at them from a three ballista net launcher. (AN: The thing that took down that orange windgnasher and Cloudjumper in the movie.) Hiccup glared at the machine and felt it better to deal with this one up close and personal so he switched Toothless' tail to automatic and said.
"Keep up the fight while I get a little closer to the men bud." He growled at this as Hiccup rubbed his head. "Don't worry Toothless, I'll be fine and when I'm done I'll send up a fire arrow signalling you for pickup."
He growled an nodded but by the look in his eye anyone could tell he didn't like it but that didn't stop Hiccup from standing up and diving towards the machine. As he closed in on the ground he opened up his wings making both slowing his fall and redirecting him towards the centre ballista of the machine. Hiccup pulled up slightly to avoid hitting the ballista and instead flew just above it before he twisted his body up as he folded his wings in turning his drop into a flying kick. He landed his kick on the chest of the man who was manning the ballista sending him tumbling back and off the machine as Hiccup released my gauntlets. As he did so the men manning the other two ballista turned to see what happened to their comrade in the middle only to be greeted by the heads of metal lions flying towards them. Before they could react the lion heads had grabbed onto their chest plates before Hiccup swung the chains forward making their bodies fly off their ballistae and slam into each other. Hiccup pulled the heads back into their original places in the gauntlets smiling at the sight of the men landing on the ground unconscious.
Once the heads were back in place he collapsed his gauntlets and released his khopesh blade while channelling an orange crystal before stabbing it into the floor beneath him. Soon as he did lava began leaking from the ground and spreading over the machine setting it ablaze as Hiccup pulled the khopesh out of the wood leaving the machine on fire as he jumped off it. As he came to land on the ground Hiccup found himself surrounded by a large group of men all armed and glaring at him ready for a fight. Hiccup just looked around at the men smiling at them, which confused them as Hiccup took a small leather bag of his belt and said.
"Sorry boys but I don't have time to play with you right now but don't worry." He reached into the bag and pulled out a handful of dragon teeth. "You can play with these guys."
With that he sowed the teeth at the men who laughed at him until they saw the teeth sunk into the ground before armed skeletons crawled out of the ground while screeching. The men stared at the skeletal warriors for a second before they had to raise their weapons in order to block the attack of the skeletons who'd charged at them. Hiccup didn't stay to watch his skeletal warriors fight though and turned to one of the nearby gronkle cannon and released his mystic hook before charging at it. A group of five men saw him coming and ran to intercept him but as they closed in on him Hiccup raised his hook high before swinging it at them while releasing the chain. The hook struck each of the men in the face knocking them out cold as Hiccup continued his charge towards the machine while reeling his hook back into place.
When he got close he ran his hook across the snow on the ground covering the hook with water before swinging it forward, throwing a rotating blade of pressurized water at it cutting the head right off the machine. Once he had it back in place though a warrior charged at him from the right side but he just used his hook to grab the guy underneath his shirt and then throw him over his shoulder into another charging guy. With them dealt with Hiccup once again released his spirit bow and fired a fire arrow into the sky signalling Toothless he was ready for pick up. It was then Toothless flew in low as Hiccup put his spirit bow back into his prosthetic arm and launched his hand at Toothless as he flew past before reeling himself in and getting back into the saddle.
It was then a mighty roar echoed throughout the battle field as the bewilderbeast rose up from its nest with multiple other dragons along with Valka standing on cloudjumper as she raised her staff high and shook it. Hiccup smiled as his mother pointed her staff forward signalling the dragons to attack those destroying their nest. A group of zipplebacks let loose and ignited their gas as they bit down on their tails and began rolling on the ground turning them into flaming wheels that made the men run away in fear. It was then a dragon trap known as 'a snuffer' flung it's grate on top of one not only extinguishing the dragons flames but also pinning it to the ground, trapping it. Hiccup glared at the device before releasing his axe and throwing it at the grate's handle that attached it to the machine and watched as it sliced through it allowing the zippleback to throw off the grate and take off again while Hiccup summoned his axe back to him. It was a few seconds later that Cloudjumper and Valka were shot down by one of the nets launched at them but when they crashed Valka was quick to get back to her feet. Drago walked towards her with a cruel smile as he looked at her and said.
"I've waited a long time for this." Valka immediately began trying to hit him with her staff only for him to use the staff of his bull hook to block it as she said.
"You cannot take our dragons!" She kicked him in the stomach. "They are controlled by the alpha."
"Then it's a good thing I brought a challenger."
With that he turned back to the ocean while raising his weapon and swinging it around while screaming like a lunatic. It was then the ocean waters began to bubble before a large grey bewilderbeast burst from the waters making the ships rock from side to side. Hiccup stared at the bewilderbeast in shock before shaking his head while wondering why these things are never easy before looking for his mom. The bewilderbeast stepped out of the waters knocking over a Snuffer trap and making it roll around before landing on its side only for the bewilderbeast to then step on it. Valka stared at the bewilderbeast and said.
"No!" It was then Drago yelled out.
"COME ON!" Valka looked at him. "TAKE DOWN THE ALPHA!"
Valka then hit him with her staff on the back but he turned around and swatted her back sending her falling to the ground. Drago looked at her with sick delight in his eyes as he walked up to her as she tried to back away using her hands but he put his foot on her chest stopping her. She gripped his foot trying to push him off but he shoved his foot down making her stop before he pushed his spear down onto her helmet and threw it off exposing her head. She grabbed his foot in a last ditch effort to push him off but he just gave a cruel smile down at her and raised his bull hook to deliver the final blow. Before it could be delivered however he was thrown off her by a flying kick delivered by none other than her son who once again had his wings out. Hiccup skidded to a stop on the ground as he glared at Drago and said.
"Don't you ever touch my mother again." Hiccup then turned to Valka. "Mom focus on trying to stop the bewilderbeasts." He then turned to Drago. "I'll deal with this beast." She looked ready to protest but Hiccup gave her a look that left no room for argument so she nodded as she ran up to Cloudjumper.
"I'll do my best." She ripped the net off Cloudjumper and took off to try and stop the alphas while Hiccup stared at Drago who asked.
"Who are you?" Hiccup took an eccentric bow as I answered.
"Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the third!" Hiccup stood back up. "Son of Stoick the Vast of Berk!"
"You're Stoick's boy?" He nodded and he growled. "I saw him go up in flames."
"What can I say other than we haddock men aren't that easy to get rid of." Drago growled and tried to hit Hiccup with the pole of his bull hook but Hiccup released his crystal spear and used it to not only block the attack but give himself the opportunity to kick Drago in the stomach. "Do you think we can talk a bit more before you try that again."
"What's there to talk about?"
"A few things." Hiccup slowly began to circle Drago. "After all we're not that different you and I."
"What do you mean by that?"
"Just what I said, that we're not that different."
"How are we anything alike."
"Well for starters we both want the same thing but for different reasons." Drago raised an eyebrow as Hiccup gripped his staff. "That one thing we both want is power." Hiccup gestured to the land around them. "One of the ways we're different is how we gain power, why we desire it, what we do with it and what price we're willing to pay for it." Hiccup then looked Drago in the eye as he said. "Also, I'm not blind like you."
"I am not blind!"
"I meant blind to what dragons truly are." Hiccup pointed to the dragons flying in the air. "They are magnificent, kind creatures with the power to bring people together."
"Or tear them apart." Drago took off his left arm revealing it to be a fake but Hiccup didn't look surprised since he knew I was a fake as Drago never used it. "You see I know what it is to live in fear, to see my village burnt, to see my family taken." Him and Hiccup began circling each other with their stares never leaving each other. "But even as a boy left with nothing, I vowed to rise above the fear of dragons and liberate the people of this world." Hiccup chuckled making Drago glare. "What's so funny?"
"What you just said about liberating people is the best joke I've heard in a while." Hiccup then glared. "You don't want to liberate people, you want to enslave them." He gestured to Drago's bewilderbeast. "That's why you chose a dragon army." He lowered his arm. "You want to control the dragons because they can make people fear you or destroy your enemies who stand against you." Hiccup glared at him. "All this destruction and loss so you can try and take over the world and gain power over people." He then pointed to himself. "Me on the other hand desires power not to control people or make them fear me but to protect them and their homes and in return I'm well rewarded with their love, respect and in some cases loyalty." Drago growled.
"Fear is the only way to get loyalty out of people and I will take this world with the power I hold over the dragons." Hiccup chuckled before he smirked at Drago.
"You honestly have no idea what's out there in this world do you?"
"What do you mean?"
"Drago, I've seen the world and gone up against a lot of threats and the things I've gone up against make your bewilderbeast and dragon army look like nothing more than annoying fly's to be swatted." He then stabbed his crystal spears spear end into the ground reached for his prosthetic arm. "One such threat was the sorceress Morgan le Fey who was able to turn my allies to stone, imprison my nightfury, summon an endless army of monsters, raise a magical monument surrounded by a fortress into the sky, conjure a blade that rots away all that it cuts and to top it off survive being stabbed in the gut with a sword that went right through her." He then winced in pain as he took off his prosthetic shocking Drago. "a single cut from the blade she conjured forced me to sever my own arm or die." He placed his prosthetic back on. "The funny thing is she wasn't the most powerful opponent I've ever faced."
"Lies!"
"I'm not lying and it was my victory against each of these threats that not only got me the blessings of the gods of each of those lands but gifts as well like my own prosthetic or the weapons I use and part of the fun is finding out what they can do."
"Are they truly that powerful?" It was then Drago's bewilderbeast was about to slam Valka's bewilderbeast into the rocks as Hiccup noticed he knew what to do and took his crystal spear.
"Let me show you the power a single one holds."
He raised his crystal spear with his prosthetic arm and threw it towards the bewilderbeast trusting his instincts and his weapon. As the spear flew through the air Drago's bewilderbeast pulled back to administer the final blow to the now unconscious bewilderbeast but it was then the crystal spear landed between the two bewilderbeasts. Drago's bewilderbeast didn't even notice the spear until it began glowing green brighter than ever gaining its attention. It was mere seconds after the spear began glowing, giant green crystals burst from the ground surrounding the unconscious bewilderbeast creating a wall protecting it from Drago's bewilderbeast but that didn't stop it from trying. It tried to smash through the crystals so it could finish off its opponent but every time it tried to do so the crystals near instantly grew back making it seem as if the damage was never done enraging the dragon. Drago glared at the crystal wall as best he could before turning his attention back to Hiccup and said.
"You think you've won because of this?"
"I think I just stopped your alpha from killing the true king of dragons."
"I still win as my challenger took down the king of dragons and with that claimed dominance."
With that Drago raised his bull hook to the sky and swung it around while screaming, gaining the attention of his bewilderbeast before he pointed at the nest. The bewilderbeast looked down at its master before looking up to the sky and letting out a loud roar that echoed across the battlefield where many of Drago's soldiers were still locked in battle with Hiccups Anubis warriors and trying to kill Amr. Soon after the roar finished the bewilderbeast turned it into a vibrating growl causing the pupils of every dragon to turn into slits right before they all flew out of the nest and bowed to the bewilderbeast as they were now completely under its control. Drago watched all of this with a cruel smile on his face before he turned to Hiccup as he said.
"He who controls the alpha controls the dragons."
"This is not the way to go Drago." Drago raised an eyebrow. "The world wants peace and I have the answer but I know your kind." Hiccup said this last part while glaring at him.
"My kind?"
"The kind who don't desire peace and only wish for control that they shall never have and it's people like you who I truly pity."
"Pity?"
"You'll eternally try to gain something that you shall never have and in turn it leads to your own destruction." He growled. "I could tell from the moment I laid eyes on you that you were a lost cause which is a shame since if you weren't I'd do my best to show you-" Drago cut him off.
"NO!" Hiccup stopped talking and looked at Drago. "Let me show you what happens to those who defy me."
He turned back to the alpha and began screaming while swinging his bull hook around once again gaining its attention before pointing his hook at Hiccup and swiping it to the side. The bewilderbeast slowly walked towards them as Drago once again pointed at Hiccup and screamed while swinging his staff from left to right. Hiccup knew what was coming and immediately released his starsword and plunged it into the ground allowing the vines around the handle to wrap around his wrists right before two giant arms with one made of earth and the other stone burst from the ground in front of the bewilderbeast. Hiccup immediatley took control of the arms and made them grab onto the bewilderbeasts tusks and try to force it back which was a struggle as Drago turned to face Hiccup who did his best to smirk at him as he said.
"I've been to quite a few places and picked up more than a few weapons from the gods besides my crystal spear." He just glared.
"It doesn't matter because it won't save you."
He turned back to the bewilderbeast and began screaming again while waving his hook above his head before pointing it right at Hiccup. The bewilderbeast understood what it's master was ordering it to do and brought its head down shaking the arms off for a few seconds but that was all the time it needed. Drago walked away from Hiccup as his bewilderbeast looked down at Hiccup before opening its jaw and firing a single icy blast at him. With his arms tied to the sword Hiccup couldn't dodge the blast or even bring up his eagle shield in an attempt to block the blast and so Hiccup Haddock was hit by the blast trapping him in ice. Drago watched from the side with a smile on his face while Valka stared in utter horror and grief as her son was killed right in front of her. She had Cloudjumper land near the ice and ran to the chunk that now held her sons body while Drago's soldiers all turned to him wondering what had happened. As for Hiccups Anubis warriors, they were no more as they turned to sand the second their master was frozen while Amr ran for the ice hoping to find his master. He was not the only beast though as Toothless and the changewings flew to see their friend along with giving the trappers who wished to see him a lift. As this went on Drago walked back to his army, mounting one of the armored thunderclaws and taking flight gaining the attention of his army as he yelled.
"GATHER THE MEN AND MEET ME AT BERK!"
This was met by loud cheers as he took off with his army leaving an unconious bewilderbeast, a heart broken mother, an angry sha, a battlefield that would be littered with the remains of a major battle and a nearly abandoned nest as he lead his bewilderbeast and his army of dragons away while his soldiers began to board their ships. Valka watched as her own dragon Cloudjumper took off after them now completely under the control of the alpha. It was then Amr arrived and stared at the block of ice whining at the loss of his master as Toothless and the changewings arrived. They each placed a paw on the ice while crooning in despair at the loss of their rider and friend before the trappers arrived at the sight. They had witnessed what happened to the man who trained the changewings and ordered them to protect them before dropping to their knees and bowing their heads in both grief and respect. What none of them knew was this was not the end of the story for Hiccup Haddock for in the ice something was happening that would unlock the true power the gods had given him in the form of a prosthetic arm.
Inside the ice
Hiccups POV:
Darkness was the only thing I could see after that bewilderbeast blasted me with its ice but the strange thing was I didn't feel cold from the ice, I felt warm in the darkness. I don't know how long I just floated in the darkness before I saw a bright flash and I was standing on a path that seemed to be made of white light. I slowly came to land on the path and realised I wasn't wearing my armour but only my pants and my prosthetic. I slowly took a step down the path only for the darkness of the place I was in to be lit up by large circle shaped mirrors but when I looked into one I didn't see my reflection but my battle against the anaconda. When I looked in another I saw my battle against the Nemean lion and when I looked through each mirror I saw all my past battles and not just the ones against monsters but the ones against mortals including my battle against Ichik. I looked around at the different mirrors and said.
"This has to be some kind of trophy room." It was then a strong male voice that sounded familiar said.
"Indeed it is Hiccup." I turned ahead of the path and when I saw who was standing there I dropped to my knees in a bow for standing there was none other than Odin himself with his eight legged steed Sleipnir standing behind him.
"You honour me with your presence lord Odin." He just gestured for me to rise.
"Rise Hiccup for all you have done for both the world of mortals and gods you have more than earned the right to stand in my presence." I stood up as he gestured to the area around us. "As you guessed this is a trophy room as when it is time for a warrior to come to Asgard they often feel unworthy so they need to go through their hall of victories to view their past and show why they're worthy of the halls of Valhalla." He smiled. "This is why you are one of the few mortals I would come down and collect myself instead of sending a Valkyrie." He gestured to Sleipnir. "Now come your ancestors are eager to see you again."
"But what about Drago Bludvist and what about Berk." He looked down.
"I am sorry Hiccup but there's nothing you can do but wait for those of Berk in the halls of Valhalla." I looked down and shook my head before looking back up at Odin.
"Forgive me lord Odin but I can't accept that, I need to go back and stop Drago."
"I'm afraid I cannot allow that Hiccup and demand you come with me now." I glared at him.
"No I cannot accept leaving things on Midgard as they are and I need to go back to finish off Drago and protect Berk." Odin glared down at me but I stood strong.
"Should you not come peacefully I shall be forced to either take you by force or banish you from Asgard for the rest of eternity."
"I don't care!" I released my stormcutter axe. "I'll fight you myself if it's what it takes to get home because I refuse to abandon Berk when a major threat is on its way there to threaten the lives of its people AND I HAVE TO FIGHT THE KING OF THE NORSE GODS IN ORDER TO GET HOME THEN I'LL GLADLY DO IT IF IT COSTS ME MY LIFE!" It was then my prosthetic arm shone brighter than ever before the light completely engulfed me as I felt something seep over my body and harden but I couldn't see what it was while much to my shock Odin chuckled.
"That's exactly what I wanted to hear Hiccup showing you to be just as honourable and worthy of our blessings and now you've unlocked the full power of your arm and with it the power of our blessings may they serve you well and remember that this power is not to be used lightly and should only be used when absolutely necessary." He clapped his hands once and a wind began blowing against me. "And now I return your soul to Midgard to finish the battle that Drago has started and to fulfil your duty to both the people of Berk and to Midgard." With that said the light blinded me and then darkness once more consumed my vision.
Bewilderbeast nest
Nobodies POV:
It's been hours since Drago's victory and in that time not much has happened for those who remained at the nest aside from the bewilderbeast coming to. Besides that the humans and remaining dragons had yet to leave their spots by the large block of ice where the body of Hiccup Haddock was still trapped. In that time Eret and his trappers had filled Valka in on how they came to meet Hiccup and what he had shown them but that did nothing to improve her mood. They couldn't blame her as the woman had just lost her son after reuniting with him for the first time in nineteen years. The only other things to happen were Hiccups dragons mourned the loss of their rider and Toothless was the one who felt the greatest loss out of the three of them.
It was at that moment as that inside the ice a golden glow shone through catching the attention of all those present but before they could react the ice burst open sending out a large golden shockwave throwing them all back. When they got back up they looked at where the ice that held Hiccup only to find it was no longer there and were shocked to discover what now stood there. There in the middle of the destroyed ice stood a warrior covered in full body armour made of gold that seemed to be shining as bright as the sun. This armour had large shoulder pads with the right shaped like a purple deaths head and the left a green death, clawed gloves that had arm guards reaching the elbows, metal boots with three clawed toes, his eagle shield on the left arm but now it was a shimmering gold, the chest plate of the armour had a single red crystal ball with a black nightfury symbol inside it floating in the centre and the helmet resembled a bewilderbeasts head with smaller tusks, a mouth guard and green lenses covering the eyes.
Hiccups POV:
I burst from the ice feeling as if I were invincible right before my mind flooded with the knowledge of my new armour and its abilities. This armour increased the power of both my weapons, body and wings to new heights making me feel as if I could go up against Cronus and an army of titans single handed and easily win along with it being able to harness the power of the alpha dragons. The shoulder pads could turn in any direction and release a stream of flames while the mouth guard on the helmet could open and release an icy blast like that of a bewilderbeast. Along with that the lenses over my eyes allowed me to zoom in on things like my eagle eye only more powerful since they could also allow me to see in complete darkness. All in all this armour was nothing to laugh at nor was it something to take lightly and if someone did I pity them since I'd have to show them how wrong they were to underestimate both the armour and me.
It was then I saw my crystal spear still held the wall of crystal strong but now it was holding the now awakened bewilderbeast prisoner. I raised my hand as I summoned my spear back to me and watched as it left the ground before flying right at me while the crystals shattered into dust. When my spear reached my hand the crystal end turned from green to gold as the blade shone as if it were brand new before I collapsed it and put it back into my arm. It was then I noticed my mother, the trappers and my dragons all staring at me in shock or in the case of my dragons in aggression. I walked up to my dragons who growled at my until I had my helmet plates fold back revealing my smiling face to them. They stepped back in shock before Toothless slowly walked up to me as I held out my hand. He sniffed it be for his pupils widened and he growled in joy before pouncing on me trying to pin me to the ground but thanks to the armour I was able to remain standing as Toothless put his paws on my shoulders and began licking my face. I laughed at this as I said.
"It's good to see you to bud." I pushed him off gently. "There'll be time for that later bud since for now we need to find and stop Drago." He growled and nodded as my changewings ran up and nuzzled me but I just rubbed their heads before Amr ran up and cuddled my leg but I just gave him a pat before a voice asked.
"Hiccup?" I turned to see my mother and the trappers staring at me in shock but I just smiled.
"Hey mom, what I miss?" She ran up and hugged me while crying into my chest plate as I wrapped my arms around her in a hug.
"I thought we'd lost you."
"You almost did but we'll have time to catch up later since for now I need to know what's happened." She pulled away when Eret walked up staring at me.
"How are you still alive."
"I'll explain everything later but as I just said I need to know what's happened while I was frozen."
"Well Drago's bewilderbeast's took control of all the dragons and has taken them all to attack Berk with Drago leading them on one of his thunderclaws." I nodded.
"We need to get back to Berk them." I looked from the bewilderbeast to my mom. "Mom we're going to need your bewilderbeast."
"Hiccup, he's already been beaten once by Drago's bewilderbeast and should he lose again he might not be as lucky to survive." I smiled at her.
"Don't worry as this time he'll have some help from some other alpha species." She stared at me.
"What?"
"Just trust me mom because now we need to get going." Eret then asked.
"But how are we supposed to get there when we don't have any dragons." I gestured to my dragons.
"You guys will have to fly on my dragons but as for me." I released my wings. "I'll fly on my own." I turned to my mom. "Mom can you get your bewilderbeast to help." She nodded.
"I can try but one of your dragons will have to fly me up to its head." I nodded and gestured Angel forward.
"You can use Angel." My mom nodded and mounted Angel before flying up to the bewilderbeast and five minutes later we were on our way to Berk with the bewilderbeast behind us, Amr using the shadows to travel back to the island, the trappers either on my changewings or Toothless while I used my wings to fly by them since with the armour I was able to use them to fly instead of just glide.
Four hours later
It's been four hours since we took off and in that time my mother and the former trappers caught me up on everything that happened while I was frozen. It was then at that moment Berk came into sight and I did not like what saw in the least as one of the giant stone guardians on the ocean was rubble, Berk was now partly covered in ice, Drago's bewilderbeast was standing at the edge of a cliff looking over the village, multiple dragons circling around above its head, Drago sitting on an armoured thunderclaw at the front looking down at the village while the everyone in the village was hiding. I turned back to my mom as I had my helmet fold back exposing my face and said.
"Mom have your bewilderbeast sink below the waves for now so we can catch Drago by surprise." She nodded and had Toothless fly low so she could tell him what to do before flying back up to us while the bewilderbeast sunk. " Now that that's done I'm going to have you guys dropped off on the island behind some of the ice in the village and stay there so you won't get hurt." They nodded. "Angel, Phantom you both know what to do?" They both growled and nodded. "Toothless, you're with me." He growled and nodded before we flew towards the island and landing behind a bit of the ice before I looked at Angel and Phantom. "Alright guys cloak yourselves before you go and make sure Drago and his alpha don't see you." They growled and nodded before taking off as Eret asked.
"Where'd you send them?" I smiled.
"To get my secret weapons." The trapper with the split in his beard said.
"Don't you think we could've used their help?" I smiled at him.
"Trust me, they're going to bring back more than enough help we'll need." I then turned to Drago. "Now if you'll excuse me I've got a mad man to deal with." I had my helmet fold back up and used the lenses to zoom in to see my father in the village centre looking up at Drago yelling how he'd never surrender to Berk but Drago just chuckled and pointed at my dad with his bull hook. "Now if you'll excuse me, Toothless and I need to save the idiot that I call my father."
I spread my wings and took off with Toothless right at my side with my eyes never leaving my father who was standing defiantly against Drago. I saw the bewilderbeast about to let loose its icy blast and turned to Toothless signalling him to get its attention. Toothless launched a plasma blast striking the bewilderbeast in the head while gaining both its attention and the attention of Drago. Me and Toothless both came to land in between my father and Drago who glared at me as he asked.
"Who are you?" I smirked behind my helmet.
"Drago, don't tell me you've forgotten me so soon after we only met a few hours ago." I had my helmet fold back revealing my face and saw Drago's expression turn to one of shock. "Did you honestly think a little ice could beat me Drago?" He just growled and screamed while pointing his hook at me making the bewilderbeast look at us. "Take control of the nightfury!" It looked down at Toothless while making a growling sound and vibrating its spikes but all Toothless did was glare at it and growl in defiance before launching a plasma blast towards Drago who was able to dodge the blast but fell to the ground separating him and his bull hook while I turned to my father.
"Dad take cover because things are about to get ugly." He opened his mouth to reply. "We don't have time for this but if we survive this you can yell at me later." He just gave me a look showing that this wasn't over before running for cover as I looked back at Drago as he screamed. "HOW?"
"All my dragons are immune to any form of mind control Drago thanks to a gift I got from the Arabian gods."
"You're not easy to get rid of, I'll give you that." I smiled at him.
"Drago if I was that easy to get rid of I would've been dead years ago."
"I take it you're here to try and convince me to leave Berk alone." I chuckled.
"Oh please I told you I've dealt with your kind before and I know there's no way to negotiate or talk any sense into you."
"Then what is it you want?"
"I just wanted to thankyou since if it weren't for your bewilderbeast I would never have unlocked this armour."
"If you think that armour will help you save your village then you're a fool but by all means feel free to try."
"I like my chances after all I don't need armour to take down a fool like you." He glared at me.
"How am I the fool when you're the one who thinks he could beat me."
"Well you're a fool thinking you have any power when that power belongs to the bewilderbeast and without it you're nothing more than a one armed man with anger issues." He growled. "You're also a fool for thinking I'd go down so easily but that's a mistake a lot of people, beasts, sorcerer and sorceress's make." He stared at me. "Yeah, my life is anything but normal but those are stories for another time." He glared at me.
"You're the fool if you really think you're going to live long enough to tell those stories." I smiled at him. "What are you smiling at?"
"Another thing that makes you a fool is you don't realise when someone is stalling you."
"WHAT?"
As soon as he yelled that Quake burst from the ground roaring as Volcana flew from behind the mountain while Glacia, Oceanica, Aegir and moms bewilderbeast burst from the ocean from behind Drago's bewilderbeast and flying behind them were all the dragons from the nest. I smiled as all my dragons circled around to hover in the air behind me with Quake and Volcana as Drago stared in shock. I smirked at Drago and said.
"Did you honestly think you were the only one with alpha class dragons Drago?" He glared at me before he turned to bewilderbeast who was looking around in shock at the other alpha's in shock before he began screaming again and swinging his spear while pointing at me as I put my helmet back on.
"I won't let it end here."
It was then he backed off as his bewilderbeast let out another icy blast but this time I was able to hold up my eagle shield as Toothless ran to shield me like a true friend but he didn't make it. Toothless however took the full blast of ice trapping him as a golden dome surrounded me stopping the ice from touching me. I quickly folded my shield collapsing the dome and walked up to where Toothless was trapped and got ready to punch into the ice to free him but before I could a blue glow shined through. It was then large explosion shattered the ice around me revealing Toothless standing there only now his back, fins, spines, nostrils, forehead and the back of his throat were glowing bright blue and he had a look in his eyes that showed he was ready for a fight. He looked at me and crooned and I smiled back while saying.
"I'm fine bud."
He growled and nodded before turning back to Drago's bewilderbeast and running onto a jutting piece of the bewilderbeasts ice and let out a loud roar showing he was challenging the alpha. The bewilderbeast got ready to blast Toothless but Toothless let out a plasma blast that was more powerful than his regular ones making the bewilderbeast turn its head to the side. Toothless kept blasting not giving the bewilderbeast the chance to fight back while also stopping the vibrations of its horns freeing all the dragons from its control. When Toothless saw this he jumped down to the ground and roared at the dragons who immediately flew to join my own dragons. Drago screamed at the bewilderbeast to fight back while climbing its tusk and asking.
"What's wrong with you?" I mounted Toothless as he ran back to his original place on the ice and gestured to the dragons behind us.
"This is what it is to earn a dragons loyalty Drago, something you've never known." He glared at me. "Let this end now and surrender."
"NEVER!" He then raised his hook and ordered his bewilderbeast. "COME ON!" I sighed and whispered.
"So be it."
Toothless roared back at the dragons who all readied their own blasts as I had my shoulder pads turn to face Drago and ready to fire. Toothless let out the first blast and seconds after it hit the bewilderbeast the other dragons let out their own blasts pummelling the bewilderbeast with their own blasts as I willed my armour to let out its own blasts. Toothless just stood there and watched as Drago's arm was blasted off by one of his own armoured dragons while hiding behind one of the bewilderbeasts horns. The bewilderbeast raised itself up to let out its own attack but before it could Toothless let out the most powerful blast I'd ever seen severing the bewilderbeasts left tusk. When the bewilderbeast saw this Toothless gave out another roar but this one was a roar of dominance as the bewilderbeast lowered its head in submission while I said.
"The alpha protects them all." With that I looked up at my own alpha dragons and ordered. "TAKE HIM AND THE OTHER NEW BEWILDERBEAST BACK TO THE NEST TO REST FOR NOW WHILE I DEAL WITH THINGS FOR NOW!"
They all growled and nodded before the bewilderbeast turned to leave but not before Drago fell off and onto the ground. Seeing him I dismounted Toothless and walked up to him while releasing my starsword that now shone with a golden glow to it. He looked up at me from his position on the ground as I glared down at him before his eyes landed on his bull hook that was imbedded in the ground just a few feet away. He tried to make a dash for it but I held my sword at his face and said.
"Don't!" He looked up at me. "Just don't!" I then stabbed my blade into the ground before golden vines burst from the ground tying him up and restraining him. "I'll deal with you later." I then called out. "Amr!" He walked out of the shadows as I pointed at Drago. "Can you use your shadow travelling abilities to put him in the solitary confinement cell?"
Amr nodded and grabbed Drago before dragging him into the shadows as he struggled to try and get out of the vines while I watched as the dragons from Drago's army, my mom's nest and my nest all landed around the village as the armour folded off my body and back into my arm leaving me in my regular armour. It was then Cloudjumper landed in front of Toothless who had stopped glowing and bowed to him and a few seconds later the other dragons joined him in bowing to Toothless. I smiled and walked up to Toothless while my helmet folded back exposing my face before I pressed my forehead against his head. "You never cease to amaze me bud." He then jumped on me and began licking my face as I laughed. "Come on bud we've got a lot to do so settle now." It was then an all too familiar voice yelled.
"HICCUP!" I turned to see my dad running towards me along with Gobber and before I could react he swept me up in a hug before he put me down. "I was so worried about you." He then gripped my shoulders. "Don't go thinking I've forgotten about you not only disobeying me and paralyzing me before you took off." He sighed then brought me into another hug and when he pulled away he looked me in the eye. "I don't like it when you go looking for trouble like this." I shrugged.
"Well it's normally the trouble that finds me but I always get something out it and I think you'll agree that this time it was more than worth it."
"What have you been up to?"
"Well besides taking on Drago and his army I've just been catching up with someone from the past that I know you're going to be glad I found."
"Who did you find?" I noticed the woman I was talking about standing in front of some ice behind dad but I could tell she was getting ready to run so I gave her a look telling her not to go anywhere and pointed her way.
"Take a look for yourself." My dad turned to see who I was pointing at and I could practically hear him stop breathing as he stared at her while Gobber stepped back and said.
"I'll leave you to handle this." I don't think my dad heard him as he continued to stare at my mother who finally spoke by saying.
"I know what you're going to say Stoick." My dad took off his helmet. "How could I have done this, stayed away all these years and why didn't I come back to you and our son." My father slowly began to walk towards her. "Well what sign did I have that you could change Stoick that anyone on Berk could." My dad was closing in on her as Cloudjumper walked up behind her. "I pleaded so many times to stop the fighting, to find another answer but did any of you listen?" Gobber then said.
"This is why I never married." I looked at him. "This and one other reason." I turned back to my parents as my mom took her staff in both hands.
"I know that I left you to raise Hiccup alone but I thought he'd be better off without me" My dad was right in front of her and she was backing up. "I see that now but-" She was backed right up against the ice. "Stop being so stoic Stoick, go on shout, scream, say something-" My dad cut her off by caressing her face and said.
"You're as beautiful as the day I lost you." They then leaned in and shared a kiss as I looked to Gobber and said.
"Now that's what I call an expression of true love." He nodded.
"That it is lad, that it is." I then looked around at the destroyed and ice covered village.
"Gobber!" He turned to me. "These next few days are going to be anything but peaceful aren't they?" He looked around and sighed.
"No they're going to be very busy lad." He then smiled. "Hope I can count on you to help me in the forge." I smiled at him and nodded.
"Always!" I then turned back to my parents who were still embracing each other. "So do you have any idea how to soothe a vicious beast."
"What kind ye talking about."
"An angry mother." He raised an eyebrow. "Once everything sets in I'm guessing my mom's going to have a few words for my dad about how I was raised in this village." His eyes widened at this.
"Lad, in the case of your mother it would be best if you just stayed out of her way and let nature take its course." I nodded knowing that these next few days possibly weeks were not going to be easy but with my dragons and family I knew we could do it.
AN: And that brings an end to the longest chapter I've ever written and worked so hard on to complete. I hope you all enjoyed it and will review kindly. I am also both happy and sad to say I'll have more time to write now but sadly it's because South Africa has gone on lock down because of the Corona virus meaning the citizens aren't allowed to leave their houses for any other reason than to see a doctor, buy groceries or medical supplies and when you do you must have the receipt to show those patrolling the streets because if you don't you risk getting either a fine or a month in prison. I'll also be spending some of this time with my family so I won't be writing all the time so don't expect constant updates and please stay safe. Until then all I can say is sayonara till the next chapter.
