20th prompt from W. Y. Traveller: Watson visits his old haunts.

Old Haunts

He ascended the steps of his old university,

clutching his notes as he leaned on his cane.

Well-polished floors and ornate wooden panelling,

he'd never expected to see them again.

A clerk offered help, as he walked to the lecture hall,

assistance declined, with the route known by heart.

Long days of anatomy, long nights clerking patients in,

all seemed several lifetimes ago, worlds apart.

He settled in place, looked around at the audience,

he wasn't surprised that the room was so full.

A signal, he smiled and joined Holmes at the podium…

forensics in medicine, their talk…never dull.
