Chapter 278

Hiccups POV:

It's been ten days since we came to Japan and in that time a lot has happened with me and my family such as for starters, we'd received a visit from the Ancient One who came to explain why my ninja had begun training me harder. They'd decided it was time for me to go on my 'vision quest' which is when a ninja goes out into the wilderness with nothing but the clothes on their back and a single weapon. On this quest I would need to find my true inner strength and from it I'd be able to return stronger than before and take the next step on my path to becoming a true ninja master. The Ancient One told me how when it came time for his ninja to go on their own quests, he personally saw them off and when they returned, they'd chosen the elements that they would use to represent their clans. When I asked him what this quest would be like for me, he simply said it was different for everyone who goes through it, but they all started the same way with the one going on the quest being sent into the forest after stabbing the flag of their clan at the front of the forest.

My own quest started five days earlier with me wearing nothing, but my ninja outfit that the Ancient one gave me, a normal tanto blade to help me survive while I left all my god made weapons behind. My quest began the second that I stabbed my own Japanese flag with a nightfury on it at the front of the forest to mark the beginning of my quest. Seeing me off were my family, Toothless, Twilight, my ninja and the Ancient One, all of them wishing me good luck on my quest to find my inner strength. These first five days in this forest had been pretty nice since I was able to really get back to my roots from before I began taking on monsters and getting gifts from the gods and could only rely on normal weapons and the skills I gained through hard training. I'd caught fish in passing rivers, lit fires using only two stones, made shelter using branches and leaves, pushed my body to its limits through intense training.

Presently though, a thick fog had come over the forest when I was busy hunting a deer, I saw running through the woods which I thought would make a good meal for a few days. I was still hot on its trail, following its tracks and the telltale signs such as broken branches, crumpled leaves and other such things that show which way it went. Sadly, it was then I was completely engulfed by the fog that was so thick that I couldn't even see my hand right in front of my face which meant I had to rely on my other senses. I rushed towards the sound of the deer's hooves until I found myself standing in the middle of a clearing with no sign of the deer in sight. I walked forward and felt something wobblily beneath my feet and looked down to find a macuahuitl which was surprising since I was in the middle of a forest in Japan. I picked it up and examined it and saw it was a normal one with black stone blade edgings but why in the world was it in the middle of a forest in Japan.

It was then I heard something rush behind me and turned around and saw something that shocked me to my very core since standing there was me, but I was dressed in my Mayan armor with a macuahuitl in hand. The other me smirked at me as he snapped his fingers and the fog cleared showing me that I wasn't in a forest, but the Mayan jungle which confused me since a few minutes ago I was in a forest in Japan. I turned back to the other me who chuckled and said in perfect Mayan.

"It's good to see you can still recognize the jungle Hiccup." I raised an eyebrow. "Whenever you visit the cities in the jungle you rarely if ever go into the jungle and just stick to flying over it." I glared at him as he spun his macuahuitl and walked towards me. "I doubt you even know how to move around in the jungle anymore."

"Just because I don't roam in the jungle all the time, doesn't mean I've lost my ability to move through it." He gave a chuckle.

"Then let's see if that's true and if you could still fight like the Mayans taught you." He charged at me with his macuahuitl as I held up the one, I had and got ready to fight.

Nobodies POV:

Hiccups double swung the macuahuitl at Hiccups head, but he ducked beneath it and used it to deliver a quick leg sweep to try and get his opponent on the ground. Hiccup was shocked when his leg hit only air when it went right through his doubles leg as if it was nothing more than an illusion showing Hiccup that this fight wasn't going to be easy as he thought. The double used Hiccup being on the ground and swung his macuahuitl down at Hiccups head with both hands, but Hiccup quickly used his hands to do a backflip away from the strike. When he was back on his own two feet he turned to his double and thrust the macuahuitl at his double as he would a sword but his double just smirked and held his arms out, allowing the weapon to strike the middle of his chest only for it to go right through him but the double didn't even flinch. Hiccups eyes widened and pulled the weapon back only to see that his double didn't even have a scratch on his stomach, but he did have a smirk on his face as he said.

"Like I said, you don't even remember your training under the greatest warriors in the Mayan city."

Hearing this Hiccup growled but realized his double was right since the moves he'd been using were moves he learnt from Master Shen, his ninja and from his time in Rome where he learnt to fight more effectively with a sword and what he had in his hand was not a sword, but a macuahuitl. Hiccup took the handle in both hands and charged at his double, wielding it as he would during his time training under the Mayan warriors who taught him how a Mayan fought. He swung it at my double who stared at him in shock right before the sharp stone edges at the top cut his chest, leaving a shallow but bleeding cut. The double smirked at Hiccup as he said.

"You're finally fighting like a Mayan." He chuckled. "Let's see how much of your Mayan training you remember." Hiccup smirked.

"More than enough to take you down."

Hiccup charged at his double with both losing themselves in the fight as Hiccup had done before when he was sparring with Mayan warriors, where he would take in his opponents' movements and fighting style so he could mimic it and add it to his own form. With his double though, there was nothing for him to copy since the way his double fought was exactly how he was taught to fight when he was with the Mayans. It was because of this Hiccup knew what to expect, but the problem is it'd been a while since he last fought like a Mayan, so he was a little rusty and it was the only type of attack which actually harmed his double. Fortunately, his moves weren't that rusty, and his body remembered every move he was taught by the warriors he trained under when he was first visiting the Mayan city.

It was because of this Hiccup was able to deliver a slash at his doubles shoulder, cutting it open and making his double hiss in pain and grab the wound with one hand. This of course gave Hiccup the chance to strike a hard strike to his opponents weapon, knocking it out of his hand, disarming him before pointing the edge of his macahuitl at his doubles throat. His double stared at Hiccup in shock at how he'd beaten him before he smirked and then backed away with his hands up before the fog began to reform and engulf the entire jungle and taking him with it.

Hiccup immediately went after him but couldn't see past the fog and tripped on a root, dropping the macahuitl in the process before grabbing onto what he thought was the weapons handle. When he pulled it back though, what was in his hand was not the macahuitl he fought with but a Spartan style spear which is when the fog began to clear to reveal he was no longer in a dense jungle but the ruins of a Greek city. It was then a voice from behind one of the pillars said in Greek.

"Not a pretty sight, is it?" Hiccup turned to the voice and saw his double walk out but this one was dressed in Spartan warrior armor and armed with his own spear and a sheild. "Sadly, this is what happens to all great cities as nothing can last against the passage of time." He examined the head of his spear while pointing the end at Hiccup. "Some people say that even the fighting spirit of a Spartan warrior's spirit will give in to the passage of time when they grow old." Hiccups grip tightened at this knowing that a Spartans warrior spirit would never die. "But we know better than them." He then smirked at Hiccup. "Or is it just me since you seem to have lost your connection to Greece despite it being where the Gods first took notice of you Hiccup or should I call you Heracles?"

"I've never forgotten my training under the Spartans or any of my adventures in Greece." His double walked towards him kicking a shield that was on the ground towards Hiccups feet who kicked it into the air and into his free hand.

"Then let's see if you still remember how the Spartans brutally trained you."

He charged at Hiccup, thrusting his spear at him to try and impale him through his chest but Hiccup turned to the side avoiding it before he swung his own spear at his double who raised his shield to block the strike. Hiccup quickly pulled his spear back and thrust the shield forward while it was facing up, making the shields slam together before they began forcing them against each other with both men trying to get the upper hand, strength wise. Shortly after that, neither could gain the upper hand before Hiccup shoved him back and thrust the head of his spear forward, but his double turned to the side and grabbed the pole before pulling it making Hiccup stumble forward as his double smirked. His double swung his shield at Hiccups head but he quickly ducked to avoid the blow before slamming his own shield into the stomach of his opponent who stumbled back but instead of getting angry, he smiled at Hiccup and said.

"Now you're beginning to remember your training and fighting like a Spartan." He steadied himself. "Now let's see if you still have what it takes to keep on fighting like one."

He charged at Hiccup and their fight continued with the double thrusting his shield forward but Hiccup raised his own to meet his doubles shield and thrust it forward. This time though Hiccup ducked and thrust the shield forward, slamming his shield into his opponents' gut before lifting it up and throwing him over his head. He quickly turned to his double and tried to slam the butt of his spear into his doubles head, but his double moved his head to the side to avoid the strike and kicked both his legs up, pulling his body with them and he landed on both feet. The double smirked at Hiccup and said.

"That would've caused a lot of pain you know?" Hiccup glared at him.

"Rule number one of Spartan training when going up against an enemy, show no mercy to the enemy." He smiled.

"Good to see you haven't forgotten that." It was then the fog reformed, consuming everything around them. "And it's good to see you still have the spirit of a warrior, never lose it."

He then walked back into the fog as Hiccup followed him, hoping to understand what was the reason he was facing himself but as he did, he realized the ground felt softer and felt harder to run in while the arm that had the shield felt lighter. He stopped running and looked around as the fog cleared to reveal he was now in a desert and his spear had become a scimitar with his hand gripping the handle and the shield was gone. Hiccup examined the scimitar but before he could figure out what was going on, a shadow fell on him from behind, so he turned to see a double of him dressed as a member of the Sultans guard with his own scimitar, standing on the sand dune. He slid down the dune towards Hiccup and pointed the scimitar at him as he said.

"Do you remember what this weapon is Hiccup?"

"It's an Arabian scimitar." The double glared at Hiccup.

"This is not just a scimitar; this scimitar is a mark of honor given to those who have protected not only the Sultan but all of Arabia." He lowered the weapon. "Then again, I was expecting you to forget what it meant to hold this scimitar since you rarely spar with the royal guard when in Arabia and prefer to explore the bazaar or hang out with the royals who you consider your siblings." He pointed his scimitar at Hiccup. "You allow yourself to become weak." Hiccup glared at his double.

"Just because I enjoy some down time with my friends and family does not mean I've become weak." The double readied his scimitar.

"Then prove it!"

He charged at Hiccup across the sands and slashed the scimitar down at him, but Hiccup swung his scimitar up to meet his opponents before sliding the blades across each other. The double hooked the end of his scimitar to Hiccups and yanked it back, pulling the scimitar out of his grip, throwing it a little bit away before slashing at Hiccups head. Hiccup quickly jumped back to avoid the slash but was forced to jump back once more when the double tried to slash him again and continued to do so a few more times. Hiccup knew he'd need to get his scimitar back if he were to stand a chance and in order to do that he'd need to use the environment to his advantage. He quickly rushed at his double and dropped to the ground just as he swung the scimitar at Hiccups head, making Hiccup slide across the sand, throwing it up as he did so and into his doubles face, blinding him as Hiccup grabbed his scimitar and stood back up. He pointed the scimitar at his opponents' neck just as he opened his eyes and Hiccup said.

"Nice try but I'm good at thinking on my feet." The double smiled.

"That's good, it'll serve you well with what you're going to be facing next."

Hiccup raised an eyebrowbut before he could ask what he meant, the fog returned for a few seconds and then vanished to reveal the scimitar had changed into a torch and there was now a large pyramid in front of him. Hiccup stared at the pyramid in shock since even if there was fog, he figured he'd at least be able to see it rise out of the sand since he hadn't moved from his spot this time. It was then a voice from his side said.

"Quite a piece of work aye?" Hiccup immediately turned to the voice next to him and saw another double of himself, but this one was dressed as an Egyptian royal guard.

"I'm guessing this pyramid is where you and I will be fighting." He shook his head.

"No Hiccup, I'm not your opponent this time, the pyramid is the obstacle you will have to face." Hiccup raised an eyebrow. "The pyramid is filled with traps that you'll have to get past if you want to move onto the next part of your quest." The door leading into the pyramid opened and the double walked in before Hiccup followed him in but as soon as he entered the doors shut and the double turned to him. "Reach the other end of the pyramid and you can consider your battle against me a victory as I'm the one who built this pyramid and all the traps within it." He then backed up into the shadows as Hiccup sighed.

"Why can things never be straight forward for me." With this in mind, he used one of the torches on the wall to light his own and made his way down the passageway.

2 hours later

Hiccup was tired beyond belief but who could blame him since he had spent the first hour dodging all sorts of traps before he realized that he was running around in circles and needed to disarm them. Fortunately, trap making and disarming was something he'd studied in Egypt since they were masters of the ancient art of creating booby-traps, mainly to guard the tombs of fallen royals. Now after spending the last hour figuring out the correct way to disarm the traps without setting off any traps that were meant to stop anyone from disarming them, Hiccup could finally see the end of this deadly obstacle course. Hiccup smiled and walked through the open wall that had sun light coming through it, being blinded for a second before his vision cleared to show he had just walked into the Circus of Rome where the chariot races were held while his khopesh had become a roman sword.

Hiccup looked around wondering what happened to the pyramid until the sound of horses galloping from behind caught his attention and he turned to see a chariot that was being pulled by two black furred horses was charging at him. Hiccup quickly dived out of the way of the charging chariot before it came to stop next to him, giving Hiccup the chance to see who the driver was and saw it was none other than his double who was dressed as a Roman Centurion and smirking down at him as he said.

"Nice to see you're still able to dodge the chariots Hiccup." He then pointed behind him. "But can you still race them or has your time on the dragon robbed you of your ability to race." Hiccup glared at his double as he noticed a chariot with white horses behind the double who was pointing at it.

"No, it hasn't and I'm guessing you want me to race you?" He nodded.

"If you want out of this circus then you have to beat me and if you want to do that then you have to give it your all in both racing and fighting while on the chariot." Hiccup nodded and walked up to the empty chariot before boarding it, but before he could begin steering the horses, they took off to the finish line where the double was waiting for them. "Let's ride!" As soon as the words left his mouth the sound of a horn echoed through the coliseum and the race began.

1 hour later

Hiccup was panting and was looking down at his real hand that was now covered in blisters due to how tight he held onto the reins so he could avoid falling off the chariot at the speed he was going in order to get past his double. While doing this he also had to use his prosthetic arm to wield the sword and block the strikes from his double which is why he was grateful that during his time in Rome, he'd always participate in chariot races and train while fighting on them since the races could be rough. His double was sure to put his skills to the test with numerous strikes and slashes at Hiccup who had to dodge or block all the blows from his opponent. Now he'd won the race but barely and was now making his way through the thick fog that had once again appeared out of nowhere and covered the entire area which is why he was now wondering around the fog.

It was then he walked right into something hard and stumbled back as the fog cleared to reveal a tall tree in a forest that was now surrounding Hiccup while his sword had become a bow. Hiccup, now being able to see looked around but didn't see anyone or anything within the trees but before he could continue to explore the forest, the familiar whistling sound of an arrow caught his attention and he immediately turned to the direction of the sound and caught an arrow that was inches from his head. He looked in the direction the arrow came from and looked up a tree to see another double of himself, dressed as one of the feather people with red war paint on his face and smirking down at Hiccup as he whistled and said.

"Impressive, your reflexes are a lot more impressive than when you first came to the lands of the feather people." Hiccup shrugged.

"Yeah, kung fu and ninja training will enhance your senses and reflexes to new heights." He frowned.

"I figured you'd also give credit to what you learnt from the feather people, guess you forgot all about them." Hiccup glared at him.

"I never forgot what they taught me." He smirked.

"Then prove it and track me down by sunset or you'll be filled with arrows."

He then hopped down from the tree branch and hid behind the tree as Hiccup rushed towards the tree but when he checked the back, his double was gone. Hiccup growled in annoyance as he thought back to all he learned from the feather people and remembered how in addition to teaching him a better way to use a bow, they'd also taught him how to read and listen to the land to track animals and foes. It was then he noticed a broken branch on the ground and knew it was the first step in tracking his double down and bring an end to this game.

1 hour later

Hiccup had been on the tail of his double for the past hour and a minute ago had finally found him sitting in a tree with a piece of straw in his mouth. When his double saw him though, he just smiled down at him and then watched as the fog once again covered the woods and when it cleared, Hiccup found himself in a familiar canyon with a familiar glowing alexandrite and sapphire in his hand. It was then a chuckle from above caught his attention and when he looked up he saw his double in the attire of a royal guard of India who asked.

"Brings back the memories huh?" Hiccup nodded.

"This is where I beat Sahil who was abusing the power of Shiba." (AN: Chapter 223)

"Do you recall how you beat him?" Hiccup nodded.

"I used the power of these two gems to match Sahil's power and take him down." He smirked.

"Let's see how much you truly remember."

He jumped off the cliff making Hiccups eyes widen in shock right before a familiar stone hand came up and land on the edge making Hiccup step back in shock as a stone Sahil climbed up. It was then the gems in his hand glowed and fell to the ground, sinking into the ground before the ground shifted and lifted up, forming the same four-armed body he used to face Sahil so long ago. As soon as the body was fully formed the battle between the two began once more but this time, Hiccup knew how to control this body fully and how to use the extra arms to his full advantage. (AN: Going to skip this battle since the first one was a nightmare to write.)

1 hour later

Hiccup had defeated Sahil and the stone body that had formed around his own had collapsed leaving him standing by the cliff as the fog surrounded him once more and that brings us to now. Hiccup standing in the middle of the fog, waiting for it to clear so he could see what awaited him next and when the fog cleared, he found himself standing in the Australian Outback with the weapon being turned into a boomerang. He looked around and saw nothing before he heard the sound of a child's giggle that sounded familiar caught his attention but when he looked around, he didn't see anyone. The sound of a girl's laughter followed after and this time he rushed towards the sound and passed a few trees and through a few bushes before he found a small clearing where three children were playing. Hiccups eyes widened at the sight of these kids since they weren't just any kids but Qiang, Birgit and Rana, the children he had when he was in Australia and imprisoned in that fantasy world. (AN: Chapter 205) Right now they were all playing in an empty clearing that had only a tree which they were playing around, and Hiccup couldn't help but feel a tear run down his cheek. It was then that a voice from beside him said.

"A wonderful sight to see isn't it?" Hiccup immediately turned to see his double dressed in Australian Aboriginie attire including paint covering his body. "No matter what happens to you in life, you never forget the paradise you were given when you were imprisoned and I can easily tell your heart still longs for it." Hiccup nodded.

"It never stopped, and I doubt it ever will."

"You know you could stay here and enjoy the paradise life that was once your prison." Hiccup actually looked down and thought about how wonderful his life was in that fantasy world. "Just give the word Hiccup, and you can have your paradise back." The sound of the children's laughter echoed through his mind like nails running down a chalk board continuously before shaking his head.

"No, I loved that life, but it was all an illusion of what I'll have to work in order to come close to achieving." He gripped the boomerang tightly. "And I don't know who you are or what your reason is for bringing me here is but I don't appreciate you messing with my memories of a pain I've been trying to endure."

He threw the boomerang at the kids who were playing and they turned to fog the moment the boomerang struck them as the boomerang returned to his hand before he turned to his double who smiled at him as the fog consumed him and the area. As few seconds later the whistling of something flying through the air and he quickly raised the item in his hand to block it, only to find a Hurley's stick while the thing that was coming at him was a sliotar ball that flew back into the fog. The fog cleared as the sound of the ball being bounced and Hiccup found himself standing on a Hurling field and standing across from him dressed in Irish attire including a kilt was his double who was bouncing the ball on a Hurley's stick and a smirk on his face. Hiccup stared at his opponent who smirked at him as he said.

"Glad to see you still know how to block the sliotar Hiccup, but can you still play the game." Hiccup smiled.

"I never forgot the games of Ireland."

"Then prove that you still have the skill to play the game." He threw the ball up and struck it at Hiccup and the game began and it was not the least bit easy.

1 hour later

It's been an hour since the game began and now Hiccups body was covered in bruises due to being struck by the sliotar with the speed of a nightfury thanks to the strength of his doubles strikes. Hiccup gave as good as he got through and returned the sliotar back at his opponent just as hard as it came at first until he realized he should be focusing on scoring points and winning the game. Now once again, the fog had consumed both the environment and Hiccup, who was breathing heavily while rubbing his bruises and for a few seconds there was silence until the sound of waves crashing caught his attention and the fog cleared to show a beach. Hiccup turned to the ocean and had to say the waves looked pretty rough and then he realized he'd dropped the Hurling club in the fog and looked down to see a surfboard. He picked it up and examined it, finding it to be a normal wooden board before a voice from the ocean called out.

"ARE YOU JUST GOING TO STARE AT THE BOARD ALL DAY OR ARE YOU GOING TO USE IT ON THE WAVES LIKE IT WAS MEANT FOR!" Hiccup looked out at the ocean and saw his double in Hawaiian warrior attire, sitting on a surfboard in the ocean before Hiccup sighed, knowing if he wanted out of this place he'd need to meet his double on the ocean and surfed out to meet him. "You spend a lot of time up in the sky riding on dragons Hiccup, but I want to see if you've lost the ability to spend time in the water and riding the waves." Hiccup smirked at him.

"I may spend a lot of time in the sky, but I never forget how to ride the waves." He smiled.

"Then prove it by riding against me on these waves." Hiccup nodded and they took off towards the waves.

2 hours later

It's been two hours since Hiccup and his double began surfing the waves which were incredibly rough and difficult to surf while maintaining balance. What was really the problem was that Hiccup had a lot going on in his mind which made it difficult for him to keep his balance on the board which is something his double made clear to him whenever he fell off the board. After he figured things out, he cleared his mind and was able to maintain his balance on the board and ride the waves as he was taught during his time in Hawaii.

It was as he watched his double fall off his board and into the ocean before he laughed until another wave came crashing down on him, throwing him into the ocean. He quickly swam up to the surface though and took a big gulp of air as he looked around and realized he wasn't in the ocean anymore but a lake off the shores of a grass filled field. He quickly swam to shore and climbed out of the water and began shaking off some of the moisture while looking around to see where he'd ended up this time. It was then the sound of a voice asked.

"Have a good swim?" Hiccup looked at the owner of his voice and saw his double wearing Scottish attire including blue war paint on his face, but Hiccup just glared at him. "I hope you did since you've got a real tough foe to deal with." Hiccup raised an eyebrow.

"Are you my foe?" He shook his head.

"Nope, your opponent is the path you'll have to take to get out of here." He turned around and walked towards the field and pointed at a tree. "Get to that tree and you'll be done with this land."

"Could you at least tell me why I'm here?"

"Nope, that's what you'll discover at the end of this quest."

He then rushed across the field and to the tree before Hiccup followed but unlike his double the second, he stepped onto the grass, his foot sunk into it to show it was a Scottish bog. He pulled his foot out and knew things weren't going to be as easy as he thought they would since he'd had trouble with these bogs before when he visited his Uncle Fergus and Aunt Elinor. He sighed and began trying to walk across only to continuously sink into the bog no matter where he stepped on the swamp like grass and mud. After sinking up to his knees a seventh time, he was truly getting annoyed with it but was snapped out of his annoyance by the sound of a dog's cries.

He turned to the sound of the wines and saw a large sottish deerhound trapped inside the bog, trying to climb its way out of the mud that its lower body had sunk into the marsh. Not liking to see any animal suffer, Hiccup rushed over to the dog and took hold of its body, underneath its pits, but the dog didn't like being touched and made that clear by sinking its fangs into Hiccups arm. Hiccup closed his eyes in pain and tried to ignore it as he slowly helped pull it out of the bog and set it down, free from the bog and on solid ground. When Hiccup let it go the dog licked his hand before it jumped into the bog again but this time, it didn't sink and instead stood tall on solid ground and barking at Hiccup. It was easy to tell that it was trying to tell Hiccup something so Hiccup took the chance and stepped onto the same spot as the dog and found it to be solid ground. The dog then leapt onto another spot and Hiccup followed it, finding it to also be solid before the dog leapt onto another spot to show Hiccup it was also solid and showed Hiccup that he was trying to show him a safe way through the bog. Nothing to lose, Hiccup decided to trust the dog and followed him through the bog until he reached the end and made it to the tree where his double was waiting for them. The dog rushed up to his double who kneeled, petting the dog as the fog formed around them and coated them and the bog before Hiccup could do or say anything.

When the fog cleared once again, he found himself standing in a familiar field that he couldn't remember from where before the familiar voice of his said from behind him.

"Do you remember this place Hiccup?" Hiccup turned to face his double who was dressed as a knight in armor. "This is where the army of Camelot, led by King Arthur took its final stand against Mordred's forces and where the great king met his end." An illusion formed behind him, showing how Arthur was killed by a sword to the stomach, being wielded by non-other than his own nephew, Mordred. (AN: Chapter 213)

"Why are you showing me this?"

"It's to remind you of the death of Arthur that caused the fall of Camelot." He then pointed at Hiccup. "Something that you could have prevented if you had simply been a knight and stayed to fight alongside the king." Hiccup looked down in shame. "You could've saved him by helping against the leader but instead you chose to focus on killing off the underlings of the one who would murder Arthur." It was then the illusion of Arthur turned to Hiccup and yelled.

"YOU LET ME DIE!" Hiccup dropped to his knees as the scream echoed through his head. "YOU COULD HAVE SAVED ME BUT YOU LET ME DIE, YOU ARE NOT WORTHY OF CALLING YOURSELF A KNIGHT!" These words tore into his mind and heart.

"Face it Hiccup, he's right when he says you aren't worthy of being a knight." Hiccup felt his heart ache at these words until he remembered his meeting with Arthur after the defeat of Mordred when he went to meet the gods and growled as he stood up, looking at the illusion before walking up to it and saying.

"I will not allow you to continue to dishonor the memory of great king and an even greater man." He brought the sword down on the illusion and it shattered like the illusion of his kids that he saw in Australia before he turned to his double. "I don't know what or who you are but I made peace with what happened in Camelot a long time ago so do not bring up a past I've dealt with and do not disgrace the name of king Arthur again." He smirked at Hiccup.

"A loyal knight to the bitter end I see."

It was then the fog returned and consumed the field and the double but it quickly cleared to reveal an African Savannah had taken the place of the field and an African spear had taken the place of the sword. Hiccup looked around but saw nothing before turning around and jumping back in fright since standing right behind him had been his double, dressed in African warrior attire with a spear of his own in hand. Hiccup took a few breaths as his double asked.

"Did I scare you?"

"You shouldn't sneak up on people like that." His double shrugged.

"It's what I do." He then pointed at a herd of zebra. "See that zebra herd?" Hiccup nodded. "If you wish to leave the savannah, you must kill one of them and bring me its body before sunset in four hours." Hiccup turned to his double.

"And if I don't?"

"Then the lions will eat well tonight." Hiccup glared at him before sighing and going towards the herd to begin the hunt.

2 hours later

It's been two hours since the hunt began and it's been two hours of constantly chasing after the zebras and two hours of none stop failures since whenever he got near them, they'd run away in a herd even when he was sticking to the ground since one would always see him and cause the stampede that he'd have to avoid. Now Hiccup was sitting on a boulder, staring at the herd and thinking back to his time in Africa and what he was taught about hunting the animals that called the savannah home. It was then the words of his double entered his mind about how if he didn't kill a zebra before sunset he'd be food for the lions and that's when his mind flashed back to a lesson on how the tribe's hunters learnt to use the same tactics as the lions. First is to separate one zebra from the herd and scare the herd off to isolate it before going in for the kill but the hunters would always study their preys' movements and take control, leading it to where they wanted before ending the hunt. With this in mind, Hiccup went to put his latest hunting plan into action in the hopes of killing a zebra so he could avoid being turned into a lions dinner.

Half an hour later

Hiccup tossed the now dead zebra at the feet of his double who looked down at the zebra before looking up at Hiccup and saying.

"Hard time hunting?" Hiccup shrugged.

"Hard at first but it was easy after I separated it from its herd figured out how to control the directions and way it moved." He nodded.

"Like the lion?" Hiccup nodded.

"Like the lion!" It was then the fog reappeared and covered the land.

"And like the leopard, I must disappear into the cover that the land offers."

He allowed the fog can consume him and the savannah while Hiccup sighed and shook his head wondering what was coming next and when the fog cleared, he found himself in a familiar Gaulish village with a boiling cauldron in the center and the spear had become a hammer. Hiccup walked up to the cauldron and smelled the contents and knew it to be Getafix's magic potion before a voice from behind him asked.

"Smells good doesn't it?" Hiccup turned to see his double smiling at him, and he shrugged.

"It does but that's to be expected of the magic potion." He nodded.

"Sadly, this one only lasts an hour after each dose, but you'll need every drop for what's coming." Hiccup raised an eyebrow before his double pointed to the gates and Hiccup was able to see a large number of Roman legionaries marching towards the village.

"That's a lot of romans." His double nodded.

"And it's your job to bash them all so you better hurry and take some potion." Hiccup sighed and nodded before walking up to the cauldron and taking a big sip using the ladle that was in it with the handle hanging on the side of it and rushed out the gate towards the Romans.

1 day later

It's been a day since Hiccup began fighting the Romans and that day had been fighting them none stop with no rest other than a few seconds when he had to get a drink of the magic potion, all while his double lay under the tree and watched. It was then he rushed in again to grab another drink of magic potion but the second he looked inside, he realized that there was no more potion and growled. This gained the attention of his double who asked.

"Out of potion?" Hiccup nodded.

"I'll just have to go out and face the coming forces without it."

"You know they'll slaughter you right?"

"Probably but I'm not giving up without a fight." The double sat up.

"So, you're still willing to go up against them?" Hiccup nodded.

"I am!"

The double just smiled as Hiccup raised an eyebrow until he noticed the fog approaching them and sighed while turning to his double who just gave a wave as the fog engulfed him and then it covered Hiccup, leaving him blind. When the fog died, Hiccup saw he was on top of a familiar mountain peak with the hammer becoming a dragon sword for dragon style kung fu. It was easy to tell I'd have to fight with it which made me grateful that I'd trained to properly wield one under master Shen since they were different to wield to regular swords. It was then a voice asked.

"Do you remember this place Hiccup." Hiccup turned to see his double standing there with his own sword in hand and dressed in puffy pants and kung fu shoes, the same attire he wore when he was training under master Shen.

"Of course, I do, this is where I trained under Master Shen to become a master of dragon style kung fu but I'm still a long way from being a master." He smiled at Hiccup.

"Let's see how far you are from a master." He charged at Hiccup with his sword at the ready before Hiccup raised his own and with that, the blades met and the fight began.

3 hours later

It's been three hours since the fight began and since then Hiccup and his double have been evenly matched in the fight and by the looks of things, it would remain that way since neither was giving the other any opening allowing their opponent an advantage. Now, both men were panting heavily as they stood across from each other and glaring at each other before Hiccups double said.

"Looks like we're evenly matched."

"I guess so but I'm not giving in."

"And why's that?" Hiccup smiled.

"Despite us being equally matched, this gives me the chance to study my own techniques and grow as a warrior." The double smiled.

"That's a smart way to look at things." He lowered his sword and bowed to Hiccup. "It's those words that have earned you this victory."

Hiccup opened his mouth to reply but before he could, the fog came in and covered the entire mountain top leaving Hiccup blind once more. This time however, Hiccup could tell it had become incredibly cold since the second he let out a sigh of annoyance, wondering when this whole world trip would end, he realized that he could see his breath and the weapon in his hand had become a harpoon. He had the feeling he knew what this meant and looked around to find himself in a familiar crater, in front of a dried-out tree that was no doubt in the middle of the freezing cold arctic. This was the same pit that the fire giants created when they tried to destroy Midgard by setting it a blaze and doing the same to the other realms and the tree that the dark elves intended to use to corrupt the other realms. (AN: Chapters 164 and 200) It was then a voice from next to him asked.

"Brings back the memories doesn't it?" Hiccup turned to see his double in his arctic wolf armor and looking at the tree before he shrugged and answered.

"Yeah, takes me back but then again everything I've encountered on this quest has brought back the memories and makes me realize how weak I really am at times."

"There is a quicker way to get stronger you know?" Hiccup raised an eyebrow.

"How?" His double gestured to the tree.

"This tree still has some magic remaining within it and with your prosthetic you can drain it into your body and make it your own." Hiccup turned to the tree in thought. "Just think of it Hiccup, no more limbs being lost, no more enemies who will put up a challenge, no more threats to your family and so much more if you just accept the power being offered to you now." Hiccup couldn't deny it was tempting since he wanted to protect his family and his memories of his past battles are what decided things for him and with his decision made he turned to his double and said.

"No!" His double raised an eyebrow.

"Excuse me?" Hiccup turned to his double.

"I said, no since I already have a way to get stronger without the use of any form of magic."

"And what way would that be exactly?"

"Adventure across the world." His double once again raised an eyebrow. "I get stronger by travelling across the world, meeting new people and learning the culture while also protecting them from evil." Hiccup glared at his double. "That's how I get stronger, not by absorbing some sort of dark magic that was going to be used to poison the nine realms." His double stared at him.

"Is this your final answer?" Hiccup nodded.

"It is!" Hiccup stared down his double who stared back at him before the double smiled and said.

"Congratulations Hiccup, you've passed the final test." Hiccups raised an eyebrow.

"Test?"

"The test that you have been preparing for since you began when you began your vision quest with every experience you went through being an experience to remind you of the lessons you have learnt in your time." It was then the fog came in and surrounded them before each of the doubles he'd met, walked out and the Mayan double said.

"A lesson to remind you that there's more than one way to fight like how the Mayans taught you." His Greek double stepped forward.

"A lesson to remind you that of the burning fire that is the drive to fight to the end, something that the Spartans taught you to ignite." His Egyptian double stepped forward.

"A lesson to remind you that sometimes your mind is the only weapon to solve a problem." His Roman double stepped forward.

"A lesson to remind you that you need to be ready to adjust your way of fighting when moving quickly or on a vehicle." His Arabian double stepped forward.

"A lesson to remind you that there will be times when you need to adjust to different terrains than what your used to." His feather people double stepped forward.

"A lesson to remind you that you should take time to read and listen to the land when tracking or in unknown territory where enemies may be." His India double stepped forward.

"A lesson to remind you how to adapt to times when your body has to change to face a foe." His Australian double stepped forward.

"A lesson to remind you that you need to let go of the pains of the past to embrace the future." His Irish double stepped forward.

"A lesson to remind you that no matter what the challenge is and to keep your mind on the main goal." His Hawaiian double stepped forward.

"A lesson to remind you that to solve a problem a little compassion for those in need is the answer." His knight double stepped forward.

"A lesson to remind you that you can't blame yourself for things that are out of your control." His African double stepped forward.

"A lesson to remind you that you need to know your prey and to take lessons from the animals and how they do things." His Gaulish double stepped forward.

"A lesson to remind you no matter how hopeless things look you should never give up the fight." His Chinese double stepped forward.

"A lesson to remind you never to stop improving yourself whether it be how you fight or how you are as a person." Finally, his final double stepped forward.

"After all this, you came to realize that your inner strength comes from all you've learnt and how you take it into your own way of doing things to make it your own." It was then his double that was dressed as one of the feather people walked up with a familiar locked chest in hand.

"The spirits of the Feather People were told of your quest Hiccup and now they feel that you are ready to see what's in this chest that they gave to you so long ago." He passed it to me. "When you get back to the palace and get your gear back on, you'll be able to open it and claim the reward within." Hiccup nodded as his final double said.

"Go home Hiccup, your quest is complete and your family is waiting for you but never forget all you have learnt from this quest." With that said, the doubles walked back into the fog before the fog completely vanished to reveal the same spot Hiccup had been standing in when the fog first appeared, surprising him but he shrugged.

"These ninja training methods are truly confusing at time." He then made his way towards where he left his flag.

Nightfall

Hiccups POV:

It's been a few hours since I got back from my vision quest and since then I've had a warm heartfelt reunion with my family and the Ancient One, we were able to settle down for tea in the garden and a discussion on what happened on my quest. We had a long chat with the Ancient One claiming that my vision quest was an impressive journey since it was rare for such an adventure to take place in more than one environment. Still though, he was impressed that I was able to make it through such difficult tests and lessons to make it through my quest and to do it in such little time. After that I learnt that the Ancient One had been staying over in the palace, helping with the kids training and that Chara had actually learnt how to throw her kunai in a way that they ricochet off a surface to hit targets behind cover but she still needs to practice. As for Brant, he'd been trained to spin his spear at speeds that made it look like a blur, creating a makeshift shield that would protect him from oncoming projectiles.

Now we were all in the training room with the box given to me by the spirits in my hand and I was once again in my regular gear with everyone including my ninja and the Ancient One looking at the box. The only one who wasn't interested was Xiu who was currently too young to realize what was going on and was more interested in cuddling into her mother's chest to get more of her body's warmth. I looked down at the chest that had remained locked since the day I got it from the spirits as a reward for defeating the bear of shadows and then freeing his spirit minions from their enslavement and that was only a few weeks after I married Blanca. (AN: The adventures on Chapter 151) It was because of this that I rarely if ever thought about the chest but now my mind was focused fully on it since after waiting so long to open it. With this in mind, I took a breath and opened up the chest and found a nothing more than a bunch of old sticks that had been twisted together. I took them out of the chest and examined it and I had to say it didn't look that impressive which made me wonder why the spirits gave it to me.

It was then I noticed my shadow eagle pendant release its black fog and reach out towards the sticks making it clear that they were connected somehow. I held the stick up to the fog and watched as it surrounded the sticks and then glowed orange before the string that held my pendant snapped, allowing my pendant to float into the fog that had surrounded the sticks. I watched as the fog grew till it was as tall as me with patches of orange glowing from within the fog for a few seconds before the fog cleared and my eyes widened at the sight before me. The sticks had grown into a staff as tall as me with two lengths of rope binding them together with them being separated to form handles to grip them and at the bottom there was an opening just a bit above the end to reveal a small burning flame within while at the top, it thickened with orange glows coming through the cracks. Resting at the top was the eagle skull which had grown to the size that was slightly bigger than my fist and the eyeholes now had small orange balls within them that were glowing with flames and coming out from beneath the skull was a scythe blade made of the same black fog but now had embers glowing within it. In other words, my shadow eagle pendant had just gotten a major upgrade in form, turning from a pendant into a scary looking scythe but what it could do is something I'd need to figure out later since for now, it was getting late and I needed some rest. With this in mind I tried pulling my new scythe into my prosthetic like my other weapons and smiled when it went right in as if it were any other weapon. I took a breath and turned to those who came to see what the chest contained and said.

"Alright, we'll see what it can do in the morning since right now it's late and I think it best we all head to bed." Everyone nodded as we all left the training room to go to bed but I could tell we were all dying to know what this new scythe could do but that is something that will have to wait till morning as now my bed is calling to me with my wives in it.

AN: And that brings an end to another chapter and this is one I worked hard on so I hope that you all can see the effort I put into it and will review kindly and actually review since I do enjoy reading them. Speaking of reviews, a message to Anon who requested I update one of my other stories, I am working on it but it's not that easy to come up with things although a friend has agreed to write the lemons for me, I still need to put my spin on them and that fanfic is a weekend job so be patient. Anyway, I hope you all remember to review and have a nice day.
