July 29, 1984, was one of the happiest days for the Malfoy family.

The birth of Narcissa and Lucius Malfoy's second son was nothing short of a miracle. After many complications during the pregnancy and birth of their first child, the healers informed the young couple that they'd never be able to conceive again. The news of a new addition was not only a shock but a treacherous journey.

Narcissa was soon placed on a strict potion regime coupled with plenty of bed rest until it was time to give birth. It was much too risky to have a home-birth, which is traditional of all pure-blood wizards, so the little family packed up and set out to St. Mungos.

After 16 excruciating hours of labor, the smallest baby boy they have ever seen was placed in Lucius's hands.

"Draco, come meet your new baby brother," ushering the 4 (nearly 5)-year-old to sit next to his mother on the hospital bed, Lucius lowers the bundle of blue blankets to reveal a small pink face. The child looks on in wonder, never in all his life had he seen something so tiny before. Even Pansy's baby dolls, which she chooses to carry around everywhere, had been bigger than what his father was currently holding.

"Now that your an older brother," Lucius continues with the speech he'd prepared since discovering his wife's pregnancy. " you need to take this job very seriously. It's your responsibility to protect Hadrian when your mother and I can not."

"Please do not scare the boy," a silky smooth voice calls into the room. "It would not do to draw a rift between the two so early on," the smile in his voice is highly detectable.

"Severus, my old friend, come see your new nephew," the potion professor is shocked at being handed the babe, and even more so when he opened his eyes. Blue-gray; a perfect combination of his mother and father. Looking more closely, the man notices that the infant is the perfect combination of his parents. Where Draco looks more like his father with his platinum blonde hair, regal bone structure, and grey eyes, the child in his arms seems to have a more delicate look to him paired with his father's nose and traces of the signature Malfoy blonde hair atop his head.

"Oh look at that," Narcissa rouses herself from her exhausted state to gaze upon the pair. "Such a pity that the first thing he sees is you, Sev." Lucius couldn't suppress the unbecoming wheeze of laughter, suddenly grateful that the healers had left to give them some privacy.

"Now now Cissa let's not be mean. I'm sure Severus didn't mean to be the first thing my son saw when he came into the world," said man gives a huff of indignation.

"I'll have to know there are plenty of people who would like to see my face."

"Daddy you can't be mean to uncle Severus in front of the baby," Draco interrupts.

"As you wish Dragon. Though we were only teasing." The little blonde shakes his head.

"Still not nice. Right Haddy?" As if he knows he's being addressed Hadrian tries to turn to the sound of voices making little clicking noises with his tongue. "See Hadrian agrees with me."

"I think he's just hungry. Hand him over here," Narcissa beckons for her child.

"I'll take that as my cue to leave and I'll send the healers back in."

July 31, 1984, was the worst day in Malfoy's history.

Hadrian was missing, snatched from a healer as she was running various tests on him. Although Narcissa carried the babe as close to term as she could he was still too small and slightly underdeveloped. His lungs and kidneys were both on the small side whereas his heart was weaker than average. Narcissa had also lost a great amount of blood during delivery. To ensure the safety of both mother and child, against Lucius's better judgment, the family stayed in the hospital for the next few days till everything was stable.

They were due to go home that faithful day. Narcissa flood with Draco back to the manor as Lucius continued his search with the Aurors.

"Mummy, will we find the baby soon?"

"Well of course Dragon. Your father will never stop looking for Hadrian, this I can promise you."

And never stop looking was true. Even nearly 8 years later the family had never lost hope of getting their stolen member back. That hope was only strengthened by the sudden appearance of a letter from St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries.

Deep in Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry on the desk of the current headmaster two trinkets go off immediately notifying the man that his most precious weapon and secrete has just been taken from under him.
