More than a little confused at the sudden appearance of a letter from St. Mungo's Lucius picks up the letter and starts reading out loud to his wife and child:
Dear Malfoy family,
It is with great joy and sorrow that we at St. Mungo's have discovered a grave mistake. Nothing more can be said through a letter as the chance of interference is too great. Please come in at your earliest convenience so that we may discuss how best to proceed with this new development.
Sincerely yours,
Healer Julianna Emerson
Growing more confused by the minute Lucius looks towards Narcissa.
"Who do you know that would be admitted to St. Mungo's?"
"I'm not sure Luc it can't be Severus he would much rather send an owl himself."
"Only after locking himself in his private potion's lab," Lucius amuses only to sober when he remembers the mysterious letter.
"There's only one way to find out," Draco speaks up for the first time. "We'll just have to go and see what the healer's discovered. I can't help but feel that I've heard of Healer Emerson before."
"Healer Emerson?!" Narcissa focuses on the signature for the first time. "We haven't heard that name since--" she abruptly cuts herself off. Casting a glance at the older blonde, Lucius appears to be in the same state of shock.
"Yes, we will leave at once to converse with the healer and see what is the meaning of this." The family quickly leave the dining room and dress in fine robes before Floo away. The moment they step foot in the fireplace the Malfoy mask slides firmly in place despite each of their internal conflicts.
Draco is racking his brain for the name Emerson, knowing that not only is it important to the cause of why they were summoned but also a part of a distant memory he can't recall.
Narcissa and Lucius are well aware of whom they will be speaking to and fail to get their hopes up. There is only one thing they want to hear from the healer and there will be hell to pay if anything else is said.
Walking up to the front desk Lucius informs the man at the desk of their appointment before being quickly ushered into a private waiting room.
They aren't kept waiting for more than 5 minutes before a middle-aged woman enters the room, her lime green robes indicating her healer status.
"I'm so glad that you could meet with me on such short notice Lord and Lady Malfoy," she shakes the adults' hands. "As you know I'm Healer Emerson." She pauses for a moment contemplating her next words. When she does speak it's almost to herself rather than directed at the family. "Do you both remember me? It was such a long time ago."
"We remember you," Lucius interrupts, his voice as hard as stone. "I hope you have an excellent reason for showing yourself and demanding an audience with us."
"Hadrian has been found." Those four little words mean everything. They stop time. They're breathtaking.
Before everything starts once again.
"How? When? Is he here? When can I see him?" Narcissa is already getting up to go find her missing child but stops as the Healer holds up her hand.
"You both have full access to him, of course, there are just a few things I must discuss with you first. Hadrian came to us yesterday afternoon in terrible shape. We only recently got him stable enough to send out your letter."
"What happened to him?" Draco speaks up. "What aren't you telling us?"
"Hadrian was severely abused and neglected by the muggles taking care of him," Healer Emerson pauses, taking a breath. "If Arabella Figgs had waited even a minute to contact us it's unlikely he would have survived."
The silence in the room is deafening after her statement.
Muggles. Not only was he being taken care of by muggles all this time but they have been hurting him for who knows how long.
"When can we see him?" Narcissa insists once more.
"Now," she states after checking her wand, "but be warned that we haven't been able to fully reverse everything done to him. He's still in quite a bit of pain alongside all off the potions we've given him we don't expect him to wake before tomorrow. It was during the chaos of trying to stabilize his magic that we even discovered the glamor.
"Glamor? How did he look before? Has he even been introduced to the magical world yet?" Lucius questions trying to keep his mask up even in the face of Earth-shattering news.
"We have not been able to remove it yet. His magical core has been wearing itself out trying to repair all the damage his previous guardians have inflicted on him over the years. A deep analysis showed that a big portion of his energy is intertwined with the spell. So much so that we are not able to break it down completely at this time," Emerson tries to explain. "As for his previous identity, it was someone you were quite familiar with. Someone we all were familiar with actually."
"Please refrain from dancing around our questions. Who was our son forced to be for the last eight years?" Lucius demands fed up with the stalls that are keeping them from the final member of the family.
"Harry Potter." The silence lasts for a beat before Draco scoffs.
"Potter? Impossible. Potter is my age. We've been going to school together for two years now."
"Along with the glamour, we also found a strong aging potion still in his system. As you know it is very dangerous to give anyone under the age of 20 an aging potion as the potion ages their physical state, not their mental state. We still need to run more tests to determine when Hadrian was given it but he's going to be very confused once he wakes and will need a lot of support to get through this. We are hoping that your presence will settle his core so that in the next few hours we can safely administer more potions to cleanse his entire system."
"If that is all when can we see him?" There is nothing in the world they need more than to be with their child at the moment.
"Hadrian has already been moved in the Malfoy family ro--" She's cut off by a high pitch scream originating from down the hall. Without much evidence, Narcissa knows that her baby is in trouble and doesn't stop to look at any of the other people in the room before she quickly exits with as much grace as any proper pureblood woman should have.
Nothing will keep her from her child a moment longer.
