Sweet - as - Honey: Thank you for the review and your kind words, they really meant a lot to me. I love writing supporting Cal.

Panicatcasualty123: Thank you for the review. Alicia was mean, I felt sorry for Ethan as well. I love writing caring Cal. 245 chapters is a lot, but I guess I liked writing this story so much that I wasn't sure where to stop.

I wasn't going to write this but the idea wouldn't leave me. May include spoilers for tonight's episode.

The Secret Life Of Casualty.

Chapter 146.

Ethan glanced at the tickets that Elle had put on the nurses station. She said he deserved them because of the hard work he had put in recently. He had to admit, it sounded good. And he knew who he wanted to take with him.

"Hey, Nibbles. " Cal slide up to him.

"What do you want Cal?" Ethan asked, closing the patient file that he was writing in.

Cal eyes motioned to the tickets. "Well, it's not as if your going to go. "

Ethan took a deep breath. "Actually, Cal, I am. " And as he picked up the tickets, he made his way over to Alicia, who was in conversation woith Robyn. He waited until they had finished talking and then spoke.

"Do you want to come to this evening tonight?" He waited for her answer, wondering if he was going to be rejected.

Alicia was quiet for a few moments, then she nodded her head. "I'd like that, Ethan. "

Ethan smiled. "I'll pick you up?" He offered.

Alicia nodded again as she got back to her patient.

Ethan allowed himself a small smile as he also got on with treating his patients.

When his shift finished at 4: 00, he went home.

After a shower, Ethan considered the clothes in his wardrobe. The invitation said black tie and for the women, ball gowns. He got a pair of black pants out and lay them on the bed, as well as a white shirt, and his waistcoat. He was ready. He put his wallet in his jacket pocket and left the flat, driving to Alicia's house that she shared with Max and Jez. He parked up, got out, shut and locked the doors, hurrying up the path. He rang the doorbell.

Jez answered it. "Come through, mate. "

Ethan walked in to the living room. He sat on the couch, waiting for Alicia. Max cracked a joke about how long girls took to get ready for a night out. She could soon be heard making her way down the stairs.

Alicia looked beautiful. Ethan thought to himself. She was wearing a full length gown, in white, on her feet, a pair of heels on her feet. Her hair was in ringlets, framing her face, her lashes were had mascara on and her lips were painted a deep red.

"Ethan?" Alicia laughed.

"Oh, sorry. " He apologised, offering her his arm. Alicia took it and they left.

Ethan handed in the tickets to the man on the door, who nodded at them and told them to have a good night.

They found their seats and Ethan went to get them a drink, Alicia a wine, and himself a lemonade.

They were there to represent the hospital, but Elle had told them to have fun as well. They laughed along with some of the doctors and nurses from St. James and as Ethan spoke about how proud he was to be working at the hospital, the hours the staff put in, Alicia looked on with admiration.

After the night was over, Ethan walked Alicia home, keeping an arm around her. As she shivered in her gown, Ethan took off his jacket and draped it around her shoulders. She looked up at him as they arrived at the door.

"Thanks for a lovely night Ethan. " She said quietly, kissing him on the cheek.

Ethan willed himself not to blush. "Your welcome, " He replied, waiting until Alicia had walked inside. It was then he started walking home.

When Ethan opened the door to the flat, he could hear the TV.

"Alright Cal?" He asked.

His question was met by silence.

Ethan hung up his jacket. "Look, Cal, I'm sorry your upset, but I wanted to go. "

Cal realised that he couldn't get his own way all the time. "I know, Ethan. Did you have a good night?"

Ethan sat beside him. "It was good. "

Cal smiled. "You deserve it. "

Ethan stared at him, it wasn't often that Cal praised him.

"Can't I say something nice about Nibbles for once?" Cal laughed.

Ethan laughed too, it made a change from arguing.
