The Secret Life Of Casualty.
Chapter 250.
I'm scared. That was the only thought that ran around Connie Beauchamp's mind as she sat in her office, logging in to her computer. Doctors has just informed her that Grace was well enough to come home. Any other parent would have been excited to hear that, but Connie went in to shut down mode.
A knock on the door broke her out of her thoughts, she stiffened. "Go away" She called, in no mood to deal with anyone at the moment.
"Connie, it's me, sweet cheeks. " Said Jacob, wishing that she would let him in. Connie had been about to tell her daughter that her and Jacob were in a relationship, but the accident had put a stop to that.
With a sigh, Connie stood up and unlocked her office door.
Jacob smiled at her. "Are you ready?"
"I don't think I'm ready, Jacob, " In a rare moment of weakness, Connie mumbled against his chest.
"She's waiting. " Jacob said, with a smile.
Taking her hand Jacob led her out of her office and to the lift. In the lift, there was silence between the two, before the metal doors opened. They walked through the corridor, Connie keeping her head down.
Grace was sat on the bed, dressed in normal clothes, there was a plaster on her neck.
"Hey firecracker, look whose here, " Smiled Jacob, giving Connie a small push in front of him.
"Mum" Grace whispered, standing up from the bed and putting her arms around her. Connie rubbed her back and noticed that she had gotten thinner.
"How are you, Grace?" Connie asked, inwardly wincing at how formal she sounded with her own daughter.
"I want to go home. " Said the young Beauchamp.
Connie nodded as Jacob picked up her daughters bag with her dirty washing in.
Jacob had drove Connie and Grace home.
When Connie spotted her house, she sank back in her seat as Jacob drove up to the front door.
Connie put the key in the lock and turned it. When the door swung open, the hallway seemed to go on forever.
"Make yourself at home, sweetheart " Connie said to her daughter, as they stepped inside.
Grace went and sat on the couch while Connie walked in to the kitchen. She hadn't been home in weeks, she'd either been sleeping in the on - call room, or hiding away in her office, so Jacob had been coming for her, collecting her mail, taking it back to the ED, and checking she had food in the fridge.
"What if she gets ill, Jacob?" Connie secretly panicked, she wasn't usually a worrier, but she knew since coming out of her coms, that Grace was bound to pick up more infections.
"Stop worrying. " Jacob said, kissing the top of her head. He got the pizza out of the microwave and then got the chips out as well, as a special treat, Connie had allowed Grace to go to her favourite take a way. He took it through to the living room and placed it on the table. "There you go, fire cracker "
Grace whispered a small "Thank you" as she picked up her fork and knife.
Connie and Jacob sat on one couch, Grace on the other, she was under a blanket, as Connie didn't want her to get cold, as she watched one of her favourite films. "Frozen. "
Thank you for reading, I wasn't going to write this, but it just popped in to my head.
