Just a little piece to go with the previous chapter that I couldn't get out of my mind and wanted to write it.

CBloom2: Thank you for the review, I'm glad you liked it, I enjoyed writing it, I agree, it is going to be hard when he finds out, I'm glad you loved the scene where Cal's death was mentioned as I had to include it.

The Secret Life Of Casualty.

Chapter 331

Ethan picked up the copy of the blog and stared at it, feeling angry, how dare Alicia betray him? Cal had warned him that Alicia would break his heart, he hadn't listened to his brother, but now wished he had. A knock on the door, pulled him out of his thoughts. It was Jac. Of course. it was Jac, she was a like a vulture.

"Have you got a name for me?" She demanded, glaring at him.

Ethan nodded. "Yes, "

"Speak up" said Jac.

"I know who is responsible for the blog, " Said Ethan, more clearly. He'd never admit it, but Jac intimidated him, it was like he was back in school and he was being bullied for his stutter, at least then he had Cal to protect him, now he was on his own, Cal had left this world for a reason, after protecting him, otherwise it would have been him rotting in the ground and he owed it to Cal to live.

"Who?" Ethan jumped when Jac spoke, it was like he'd forgotten she was there.

Ethan bit his lip, Alicia would never forgive him if he dropped her in it, but she had done wrong. She'd probably get a suspension.

"I'm waiting, " Said Jac, rolling her eyes. She had to get back to Darwin and complete her own paper work.

"Alicia Monroe, " Said Ethan. There he'd said it, there was no going back.

Jac nodded and left, leaving Ethan alone, he sank back in his chair and took off his glasses, it had been a draining day. He couldn't wait to go home. But first, he needed a cup of tea. He left his office and walked down the stairs, just in time to see Jac talking to Alicia, he couldn't make out what Jac was saying but could feel his staffs eyes on him as they burned in to his back.

Jac found Ethan in the staff room, sitting on the battered blue couch, he needed to take the weight off.

She folded her arms as she leant against the kitchen area. "Alicia's been suspended while we investigate"

Ethan nodded, knowing he'll now need to find another doctor to replace her, briefly.

Jac left the staff room and headed to the crèche to pick Emma up and take her home, as she carried her daughter to her car, Ethan was back in his office, packing away his things for the night, and looked at the blog he'd left on his desk, before he scrupled it up and threw it in the bin, which was by the door. Picking up his briefcase, he whistled to himself as he too headed to the car park.

Emma threw her teddy on the floor.

"Emma, don't do that, " Jac said to her daughter, bending down to pick the pink teddy up, Ralf had been with her since she was born, but before she could get it, Ethan did.

"Here" He said, dusting the dirt marks off her teddy as best as he could, but it'd still need a wash when Jac got home. engine

"What do you say, Emma?" Jac said to her daughter.

"Thank you, " The little girl said.

"Yes, thank you, doctor Hardy, " Jac said as she watched him walk away.

"No problem"

Jac got in to the drivers seat and belted up, before starting the engine. Ethan unlocked his own car, putting the briefcase in the boot and then getting in the passenger seat, putting his belt on and driving out of the car park, heading towards his flat, but then he had a change of heart and headed to the cemetery where Cal was buried. He got out and took a deep breath, before walking through the big, black iron gates, and started walking towards his brothers grave.

"Hey Cal," Ethan whispered as he approached his brothers stone.

"Here lies Caleb "Cal" Knight.

Brother, son, friend,

"Gone, but not forgotten"

It was the inscription Ethan had chosen when he and Charlie were picking out his tombstone.

"I could really do with you here Cal" Said Ethan.

"I'm always here for you Ethan"

"The job's just stressful and I can't do it. " As he spoke, he felt his eyes become damp and took off his glasses, putting them beside him.

"Talk to Charlie, mate"

Dam, Cal, why did you have to leave me?" He cried. He could have sworn he felt a hand on his shoulder, but that was impossible right, the dead can't communicate with the living. He looked up, anyway and saw his brother, he was in his scrubs, his hair messy and he didn't look like the bloodied mess he had been when he lay in the cold street, dying.

"Cal, I miss you" Said Ethan.

"I miss you, too, Nibbles"

"Don't call me, Nibbles" He half laughed, half cried, taking a swipe at his brothers arm. "Why did you have to go?"

Cal shrugged. "Guess I was needed elsewhere. "

"But I need you, I'm lonely Cal"

"How can you be lonely when I'm around?" His brother joked.

"But your not, are you?" Ethan said, sadly. He'd do anything for Cal to mess up their flat again, while he tried to keep it tidy, Cal pilled his dirty dishes in the sink, leaving Ethan to wash them up.

"I'm always here, if and when you need me, Ethan. " Said Cal, "But now, I have to go. "

"No" Ethan cried out, as Cal started to disappear, he wanted Cal to stay for a bit longer, so they could talk some more and make him feel as if he was close to his brother again.

"I'm always here" Cal repeated, then he was gone.

Ethan stood up, picked up his glasses, cleaning them with a tissue and put them back on his face. He walked out, through the gates, getting back in to his car. On his way home, he made a resolution.

Returning home to his flat, he headed to his room and got out the shoeboxes in which he'd dumped Cal's pictures in, after what had happened, where they were just gathering dust. He decided to put them up again. He put one up on the fireplace in the living room, one on his table in his room and one in the kitchen.

Cal's smiling face stood, staring back at him, it made him feel close to him and even though, he couldn't respond, Ethan spoke three special words:

"I love you, Cal"
