Beck sat back, watching his friends. Specifically, watching two of them as they argued about whatever was their latest point of contention. He could see it, the way they fought. They were the only two girls, women, who'd ever entranced him. 'Yes, entranced. Like I was in a trance the whole time I was falling for them. Each one unique and special in her own way.'

They reminded him of that show, "Girl meets World." Not the show itself, but something one of the characters, Farkle, said. In one episode, he compared Riley, his angel, with Maya, his demon of desire. It reminded beck of his own struggles.

Jade was his Maya. Dark and dangerous, with a beauty tinged by danger. Rex was right, sometimes it's their danger that makes it worth while. Makes the girl hot. Beck's relationship with her consisted of constant power struggles, trying to rein in the dark goths impulses, keep the world safe. Keep his girl safe. Jade was dangerous, to herself and others. But at the same time, he was constantly provoking her, to the point that, in the lead up to the Cowau, when he agreed with her, she insticktivly reacted like he was giving her a hard time. It was their thing, always on the edge of breaking up, always on the edge of going deeper. But Jade would never take the plunge, no mater how much about herself she revealed. And she's told him things that made him wonder how she never killed anyone, just to get the hurt out of herself.

Then there was Tori, his Riley. She tried to be duplicitous, sneaky, but that didn't work out for her. Tori was at her best when she was being honest with herself. But that wasn't the only thing Beck loved about her. Tori was the damsel in distress Jade never was, frequently needing someone to help her out. He had, on more then one occasion. But she also didn't want to be saved, and when she did get in over her head and need to be rescued, she would later want to try whatever again, just to prove she could. Tori was a complicated woman, but sweet and caring all the same. She was his angel. He often wondered, how long until the dark realities of this world finally hurt her, instead of working out when she just tried being her honest, caring self?

He didn't have to worry. Not any more. Tori may have been good at thinking about others, like when she tried setting Jade up so Beck could date Meredith. Sweet, simple, manipulative Meredith. No way the girl loved all the same things he did. He was sure she was agreeing just to be with him, and how could he be with anyone who just agreed to be with him. He needed someone complicated, who could stand on their own. If Trina wasn't so desperate, she'd probably be one of the few girls he liked.

But it was Trina who caused him the greatest hurt. In retaliation for the puppet show he, Andre and Robbie had put on to teach her a lesson, the one that made her father think even less of her, Trina had used her greater understanding of human nature to push Tori and Jade together one more time. But unlike the forced date Sikowitz had put the two in, Trina had tricked them into going someplace where their shared secret, the one neither had known about, came to light. Beck couldn't even be mad, cause to the outside it looked like Trina was finally doing something nice for her sister.

So Beck sat there and watched Tori and Jade arguing about something, what was the best place to go for Karaoke, and now he could see how they were bonding, the way he and Jade used to. They were building up for something more.

The argument lacked the bite, but not the passion, of the ones he used to have with Jade. Tori may or may not have known it, but she was practically in Jade's pants. 'And she probably has no idea.'

But Beck had to agree, in the short time the two have been dating, Jade's behavior has been blunted. The queen gank of the school was still not to be crossed, but accidental crossing wasn't punishable by humiliation any more. And Tori, she was now more secure then he could remember, safe in Jade's arms.

Beck sat there, on the outside, looking in. He had his choice of girls in this school, and the only two he wanted had wound up with each other.

Trina, however, he was looking at in a new light. 'If only she weren't so desperate..' He thought. Then again, he was getting there too. And he always did well with girls who needed to change something…

Another Beck dealing with Jade being with Tori story. Kinda liked this one. Not sure how long I'd been holding this one.
