I don't own the characters, I only own the mistakes in the chapter.
The Secret Life Of Casualty.
Chapter 542.
Ruby clutched a crying Harmony in her arms, she was frustrated, Harmony had been fed, changed, but still she was crying. A knock at the door filled Ruby with dread, was that someone complaining about Harmony's crying?
"I'm coming, " she said, walking in to the hallway. Unlatching the lock, she pulled the doorway open and her mouth opened slightly as she realised who was standing on the doorstep. It was Iain Dean, former paramedic, last she had heard he was in HEM's.
"Hey Rubes" Iain said, to break the short silence that had come over the former colleagues.
"Iain. " Ruby replied. "What are you doing here?"
"Jan told me you were struggling," He said, stepping in to the small flat.
"I'm OK, " Ruby said.
"Ruby, it's alright to ask for help, " He replied, refrencing the time he had almost taken his own life, if he had gone through with it, it would have left Ruby and Gem devastated. Harmony let out a snuffly noise in her aunts arms.
Ruby sighed, she was happy to see Iain.
"Let me, " Iain said, taking her from an exhausted Ruby. He rocked her, gently from side to side before placing her in to the moses basket.
"How, did you do that?" Ruby asked, every time she had tried to put her down, she had just cried and she'd felt guilty before picking her back up again.
"Gem's had a baby, a little boy." Iain told her, Ruby stared, she was shocked. Iain was getting his phone out of his pocket and accessing his camera, ready to show Ruby of his new nephew. When he'd found the photo, he handed his phone to Ruby. In the photo, Gem was lying in a bed, the baby boy on her chest and in another, Iain was holding his new nephew. "
"He's cute, Iain" Ruby said, handing him his phone back. "What's his name?"
"James Dean. " He told her.
Ruby nodded as Iain spoke again. "How about I make us both a cup of tea?"
That sounded nice to Ruby. Iain walked in to the small kitchen, whistling to himself as he filled the kettle. Soon, he walked back in to the living room and placed two mugs on the coffee table. He sat down beside Ruby and put his arm around her, kissing her head and within minutes, an exhausted Ruby was asleep, her head resting on his chest.
I hope this was OK, it's been a while since I've written Iain.
