Chapter 547
Connie was in her office, on the phone to her daughter, Grace, she was supposed to be flying to America to spend some time with her daughter, but she'd had to pull out.
"But Mum you promised, " Grace said, on the other end of the phone.
"I know, darling, but something has come up," Connie replied.
"Work's more important than me, " Connie heard Grace grumble.
"Darling, you know that isn't true, I'll see you soon, love you. " Connie replied, but it was too late, Grace had hung up. Connie sighed and put the phone down.
"Work" was the excuse she'd used for Grace, but the truth was, Connie felt unwell, she had a headache, and her stomach was hurting, it must be a 24 hour bug, she thought to herself, thinking that she'd get a few minutes rest to herself by closing her eyes, but as soon as she had closed them, there was a knock at her door. She striaghtened up.
"Doctor Noble, what can I do for you?" she asked.
"Your needed in RESUS, " Will told her.
Connie nodded, and grabbed her stethoscope, following Will to RESUS. The patient was an old staff member, Linda Andrews, who'd been drunk and dislocated her elbow. Connie examimed her arm. "Let's book an x - ray, Will. Will nodded and took Linda for her x - ray.
"Well?" Connie asked, when Will returned from taking Linda for her x - ray.
"The x - ray shows that her elbow is dislocated. I'll reduce it. "
Will walked in to the cubicle and after he'd reset Linda's elbow, he'd discharged her. Connie took the chance to go back to her office, but went to the pharmist first.
"Pregnancy test, " she said, quietly, not wanting to be overheard. She paid and quickly took put the box in to her bag, heading to her office. She unlocked the door, didn't bother, putting the lights on and sat down at her desk. She put her head in her hands, weighing up her options. If the test was positive, she knew Grace would love a brother or sister, but how would she cope with a baby? Abortion wasn't an option for her.
Grabbing her bag, she headed to the ladies and locked herself in a cubicle. She took the test out of her bag and opened the box, even though it had been 12 years since Grace was born, she still remembered how to take one. After 3 minutes were up. She looked.
Pregnant.
"Shit" Connie muttered. This baby was Will's.
