The Secret Life Of Casualty.

Chapter 456.

Ruby was wheeling in a patient, her first patient back at work, since the death of her sister, considering she was now baby Harmony's full time career, Ruby was exhausted, she wasn't getting much sleep as every time she had tried to put Harmony down, she had just cried again and as she was handing over to Ethan, she failed, to notice that Rosa had just finished moping the floor.

"Ruby, watch out " Iain called out, but it was too late, Ruby had gone flying on the wet floor, only just managing to put her hand out, but as she did, she heard a snap, she knew in her role as a paramedic, she had dislocated it. How was she supposed to look after an 8 week old baby with a dislocated elbow. It would be an impossible task.

"Are you alright?" Iain asked.

Ruby winced, her back hurt. "I'm fine, Iain."

Iain lifted her in to his arms and carried her to an empty bed. He helped her take off her paramedic jacket and lifted her top to see her back was covered with bruises.

Iain felt her wrist. He didn't miss the hisses of pain coming from her as he felt it. "You've dislocated that, Ruby" He told her.

The curtain twitched then and a guilty looking Rosa appeared. "Ruby, I'm so sorry. "

Ruby managed a weak smile. "It's fine, Rosa, I wasn't looking where I was going."

Robyn come in then, ready to relocate Ruby's wrist. She gave her the extnox tube and as Ruby had instructed many patients, she put it in her mouth and took a deep breath as Robyn, pulled her wrist back in to place. It hurt and Ruby let out a small cream. Robyn left the cubicle to get a splint and a sling, and soon her wrist was slinged up.

"What about Harmony?" she asked.

"Gem can have her for the night, " Said Iain as he got out his phone to text his younger sister. Gem messaged back to say she'd watch her.

"I'm going to stay here with you for tonight" Iain told her.

"Thanks Iain "
