"Well, since Aaron is taking a few days off to be with Jack, I think that you should be the one to deal with this issue, David." Erin handed him the case that had been placed on her desk by Director Shepperd earlier that morning. "This is one of those tricky political cases, and I need the best person to handle the interview. Frankly, I'm surprised that Sanderson is even being considered for parole, given how vicious the murders he committed were."

David took the file from her hands and glanced through it, his eyebrows raising at certain points. "It does seem a little odd that he's being considered, yes, but that's also why they're asking is for the risk assessment. And I wish that I could conduct the interview with Sanderson. But…"

"But what, David? I know that Aaron asked you to be in charge for the week, and I signed off on desk duty for you all during that time, especially as Cadet Seaver needs to get her bearings about her in terms of fitting in with this team, but there's nothing pressing for you, in particular, to do."

He gave her a sheepish look before glancing at his computer. "Well…"

"Just spit it out, David."

"I have to write a new introduction to one of my first books. The publisher wants to put out a tenth anniversary edition, and has asked that I revisit it and write something new that describes how things have changed in the decade since when it was written. Since everyone was going to be catching up on paperwork or teaching classes during this time, I thought I would be wise and finish this now. It should, theoretically, only take the length of a workweek to accomplish?" He gave her a winning smirk, and Erin rolled her eyes a little. "But I think that this sort of thing would be right up Morgan's alley. Let me get him up here."

She nodded and listened to him call down to his desk, asking him to join them in David's office before hanging up and giving her another little smirk. "You need to take that look off your face, David. I am still thinking about putting you in the living room tonight for being a prat."

"Ooh, I'm a prat now! I knew that I shouldn't have let you and the kids watch those British shows." He winked at her before Agent Morgan knocked on the door and entered.

"You wanted to see me, Rossi? Ma'am." She nodded at him before indicating for David to hand over the file.

"Yes, we need you to conduct a risk assessment interview with Donald Sanderson. He's been in prison for twenty five years now, and this is his first time up for parole. The board would like to know if there is a chance that he'll reoffend if he's released, and since David has conveniently decided to delegate this task out, it has fallen into your lap to conduct the assessment. The prison is expecting you, and you have three hours with him before you need to present your findings to the board. Will that be enough time?"

"It should, ma'am. Do you think that there would be time for me to read through his file before I head over for the interview?"

Erin glanced at her watch, seeing that it was only quarter past eight. "You should, as long as you can reach the prison by nine." Agent Morgan nodded before leaving the office, and she let out a long breath. "I would dearly love to spend the morning in here with you, but I have a meeting in two hours that I have to prepare for." They rose to their feet in tandem, and she welcomed his arms closing around hers. Breathing in deeply, she allowed the scent of his aftershave to fill her nose.

"Do you have to start preparing right away? Or could you bring your work here to prepare?"

"I wish that were possible, but I have the distinct feeling that we would both drive each other to distraction, and then get nothing done. Hold me for a few seconds longer, and then I'll head back to my office, and you'll buckle down and get to work on that introduction. If you manage to get a rough draft of it written by the end of the day, I might be persuaded to be frisky tonight." He chuckled into her hair, and Erin let out a little purr as his hand slipped dangerously close to her ass. "But not in the office, darling. We have reputations to maintain, after all."

Letting out a soft sigh of displeasure, David stepped away from her before cupping her chin in his hand and raising her face to look into his eyes. "You have a reputation to maintain, I am still seen as a bit of a lothario. So if someone happens to walk in while I'm kissing you senseless, well…" Erin knew what was coming next, and she melted against him as he lowered his lips against hers, kissing her deeply as he backed her against the door, his hands wandering up and down her torso as they continued to make out like randy teenagers.

"David, please," she finally managed to gasp out when he pulled his lips away from her and began to pepper kisses along the edge of her jaw. "I have to face the others, and I don't want to look like I've been well loved."

"I think you mean well fucked, Erin." She rolled her eyes again as she spread her hand out on his chest. "But I think that you might have a point. I don't want to share this side of you with the others, it is for my eyes alone." He bundled her close to his chest before dropping a more tender kiss to the top of her head. "Here, use my mirror to make certain that you don't look like too disheveled." Erin nodded as she followed him over to the small mirror that he kept on the wall. "I'd offer you my comb, but I think I left it at home."

"Your hands would work just as well," she quipped, hating that fact that she could see so much sadness in her eyes. He nodded and began to smooth the small flyaway hairs down before resting his chin on top of her head. "You do know that I love you, yes?"

"Yes, just as much as I love you, Erin." His arms closed around her waist as he rocked them back and forth a little. "Everything will be all right with time. I promise."

"I wish that I fully believed that, David. And please, if you see Agent Morgan before he takes off for the prison, try to impart upon him how important it is that this goes well. I don't need added scrutiny on the team at a time like this."

"I will, Erin. Now go, prepare for your meeting, and know that we have everything under control here. I promise you, nothing bad will happen under my watch." She nodded as she turned her cheek upwards, hoping that he would understand what she was asking for, and a soft sigh escaped her lips when he kissed her skin sweetly. "Let me guess, you're having a working lunch?"

"Yes. Which might help things move along quickly. As long as too many people don't ask stupid questions. Come get me when you're ready to head home. That's the best thing about this week, the ability for us to head home together." She kissed his cheek before making her way out of the office and out of the bullpen, knowing that it would be a long day ahead of her.
