A/N: Thank you all for the endless love you are giving my adaptation to this story! I am super excited to write the rest of this saga and I hope it continues to be with your liking despite my own little changes. :) Here is another chapter that I was just eager to create. Happy reading! Remember, if you want more, just drop a review. And I'm sorry for all the Team Jacob fans out there, but I vote for Edward (book and movie, all the way!)

Regina was surprised when she arrived to La Push beach with her friends and they were the only ones there. Literally. Regina had no intention of surfing. With her luck, she would probably just make a fool of herself, and everyone would laugh. Instead, she remained along the beach, dressed warmly as the air had proven to turn colder than earlier.

"Hey, Gina!" Ruby grins, walking up to Regina along with two other friends.

"Hey, Ruby." Regina smiles and looks at her friends. "Everyone, this is Ruby."

"Hey, guys." Ruby waves, turning her attention back to Regina. "Are you surfing?"

Regina scoffs, "Definitely not."

"Alright, let's go!" Robin reached for his surfboard, all dressed in his wetsuit.

"You guys, someone should stay here with Regina. Her date bailed." Said Ella, nudging Regina's arm with her own.

"What date?" Mulan frowns.

"She invited Emma." Zelena laughs a little.

Regina shakes her head, attempting to hide the blush that settles along her cheeks. "To be polite, that's all." She said this, and even Regina didn't believe her own words.

"I told you not to waste your time with her, Regina." Zelena snorts.

"Come on, Zel." Ella frowns at Zelena before smiling at Regina. "I think it's nice you invited her, Regina. Nobody ever does."

Robin scoffs, "Yeah, because Swan is a freak."

Regina glares directly at Robin.

"You got that right." One of Ruby's friends said.

Regina turned to them. "Do you know her?" She asks.

"The Swan's don't come here."

"Honestly, I think it would be better for everyone in this town if they just left." Said Robin before walking away along with Mulan, Zelena, and Ella.

"Hey, let's take a walk." Ruby nudges Regina, encouragingly.

"Okay." Regina walks along.

"I'll catch you guys later." Ruby waves to her friends, jogging over to be at Regina's side. "Hey," she grins.

"What did your friends mean by 'The Swans don't come here'?" Asked Regina.

Ruby tucked her hands inside of her jacket as they walked along. "Um… I'm really not supposed to say." She smiles apologetically.

Regina on the other hand became more intrigued. Ruby knew something. "I can keep a secret."

Ruby smiles, her cheeks blushing by the sparkle in Regina's eye. "It's nothing. It's like an old scary story."

"Come on, Rubes. I want to know." Regina gave her best smile and wide eyes.

"Okay. Did you know that Quileutes are supposedly descended from wolves?"

Regina's brow lifts, "Wolves? Such as real wolves?"

Ruby's grin grows as she nods, "Yeah! That's the legend of our tribe."

"And what about the Swan's? What's their story?" Regina pressed.

Ruby looked down at the floor. "Well… They're supposedly descended from this enemy clan. My great-grandfather, the Chief, found them hunting on our lands. But they claimed to be something different, so we made a treaty with them that if they promised to stay off Quileute lands, we wouldn't expose what they really were to the pale faces."

"And what exactly are they?" Regina asks, eager to know more.

Ruby chuckles, shrugging one shoulder. "Hell if I know! Anyway, who cares? It's just a story, Gina."

But Regina cared. She wanted- no, not wanted- she needed to know more.

It had been a surprisingly sunny day in Forks High School. Ella and Zelena had convinced Regina for them to hang out along the patio where the sun would touch your skin. Except, no matter how much Regina smiled and joined their conversations, her eyes were only looking out for one person.

"She's not here." Zelena breathes, tilting her head back to catch some heat of the sun along her neck. "Whenever the weather is nice the Swan's just disappear."

"They are allowed to skip school?" Regina asks.

"No," Zelena lifts her head. "Dr. Swan always likes to take them for camping and hiking. They are all real outdoorsy. I tried that out on my parents, not even close." Her eyes roll before they close to enjoy the heat of the sun once more.

Regina smiles a little. Another mystery to Emma Swan.

"You know, we really should go shopping for the dance before all the good dresses are bought. We should go to Port Angeles." Said Zelena.

"That's a great idea!" Ella perks up, grinning from ear to ear before a frown sets in. "Although, I don't know. I don't think I'll be going to dance."

"Why?" Zelena's head snaps up as well as her eyes, surprised.

"Why not?" Regina asks.

"Well, I keep thinking Mulan is going to ask me to the prom, but she just doesn't." Ella's shoulders slump in disappointment.

"Bummer." Said Zelena, her eyes closing once again to enjoy the rays of sunlight.

"Why not ask her?" Regina looks at Ella. "You know, take control. You're a strong, independent woman."

"I am?" Ella smiles, appreciating Regina's encouraging words.

"Yes." Regina nods.

"So, what do you say to Port Angeles?" Zelena asks.

"Come with us, Regina!" Ella beamed. "I need your opinion on the best dress."

"Sure." This time it's Regina who shrugs. She didn't really care about the dance, but she would be willing to help a friend such as Ella with a nice dress. What could go wrong?

"So, I did what you said. I totally asked Mulan to the prom and she said yes!" Ella beamed at Regina, who sat by the window of the dress shop.

"I told you, you could do it." Regina smiles.

"What do you two think of this dress?" Zelena comes out from the dressing room, flashing a dark green dress of silk material. It went along with long silk gloves that covered her forearms as well. It made her cleavage pop a little, which she favored. She would do anything to gain Robin's attention. Or possibly Emma's.

"Doesn't it show a bit much?" Ella asked, scanning Zelena up and down.

"Yeah! That's the point!" Zelena scoffs, and looks to Regina. "By the way, Gina, very sneaky of you to try to hide it from us."

Regina's eyes turn to Zelena. "Hide what?"

"That you're going to dance with Tyler."

Ella's eyes grew wide, her mouth dropping to the floor. "You are?" She asked excitedly.

"Who told you that?" Regina scoffs.

"Duh! Tyler! He's telling the whole school." Zelena grins. "And here I thought you were all hung up on Emma Swan."

"I'm not-" Regina's cheeks turn crimson. Of embarrassment and fury. "Tyler is lying. I can assure you."

There's a startling knock along the window, right where Regina is sitting. As they look up, a group of three guys walk along, taking their time to bluntly check Zelena out.

"Hey! Nice-" the dirty blonde one mouths the words tits, smirking from ear to ear.

The last one of the group, knocks again to gain Regina's attention, winking at her once she glares in his direction.

Ella scoffs, "Well, you certainly got their attention." She turns to Zelena who rolls her eyes.

"That's repulsive." Regina murmurs to herself.

"Hey, we should all go eat after this!" Zelena perks up.

"I'm in." Ella raises her hand. "Gina?" She looks at Regina expectedly.

"Can I meet you there? I want to stop by this book store first." Said Regina.

"Yeah, sure." Zelena shrugs, checking herself out in the long mirror before her. "Oh, yeah, this is definitely the dress."

Night took over the sky, shadowing the sun. Regina walked into the nearest bookstore. She couldn't stop thinking about what Ruby had told her about the Swan's and wanted to know more about these… Palefaces as Ruby had called them. Sure, she could have just googled the entire thing on her laptop at home, but Regina was always one that enjoyed reading something out of a book rather than staring at a screen for hours.

"Hey, welcome. Is there something I can help you find?" A man behind the counter smiled friendly at Regina as soon as she walked in.

"Yeah…" Regina walks up to the counter. Regina asked for a specific book, anything that had everything on the Quileute tribes and their history. It wasn't hard for the man to find a book that specialized in that information for her. "Thank you."

"Enjoy." Said the man, watching Regina as she walked out of the shop.

"Where the hell is she? She was supposed to be here by now!" Emma's brow deeply furrows as she tunes into Zelena's thoughts, realizing that Regina was nowhere near them.

It didn't take Emma long to find Regina in a town this small. Regina could be across centuries and Emma would always find her. She was walking away from a bookshop, and she was alone, walking in the middle of the night. Looking so appetizing, so fragile.

"Hey, look at that."

"It's our lucky day."

Emma could hear laughter coming from a distance, but to her, it was so close, she hated the sound of it. She hated it because it wasn't Regina's laugh that she was hearing. It wasn't Regina's voice. It was the laughter of the same group that had knocked along the dress shop window. Emma tried her damndest, but she couldn't tune out of their minds.

"Nice. I'll bet she'll have enough for all three of us."

"I can't wait to break that in."

"I wonder what it will be like to taste-"

Emma's eyes shut tight. One of her hands gripped tightly along a brick wall as she lurked nearby, so tight, she heard it crack, feeling a piece of it turn to dust within her grip. Her lip curled in anger once the group of boys reached Regina.

Regina walked along, cutting through two buildings when a sudden shadow figure caught her attention, halting her to a stop. At first she would have liked to think that it could have been Emma, but it wasn't. It was one of the boys from outside the dress shop, holding a can of beer in his hand. Regina's feet shuffled in the opposite direction, deciding that cutting through those two buildings wasn't the best idea.

"Hey." A voice said in the darkness, surprising Regina as the two others from the group seemed to appear out of nowhere.

"I know you. You're the girl from the dress shop." Another one said, taking a swig of his beer.

Regina gasped, her heart accelerated so loud inside of her chest, Emma could hear it for miles.

"Hey, honey. You want to party?"

"Stay away from me." Regina breathed, suddenly finding herself boxed in by all three of them, with nowhere to run.

"Whoa, hey, where you going? We just want to have some fun."

"Yeah, where are you going?"

"Don't touch me!" Regina's knee strikes into the closest one, kneeing him directly into the groin. Her eyes suddenly grew wide as another grabbed her arm. She could smell the thick scent of beer along their breaths. It was disgusting.

Suddenly, a pair of headlights caught their attention and away from Regina. Someone was speeding up, driving like hell toward their direction. The vehicle's tires screeched so loud, it startled them. Even more once the car roughly braked right in front of them. That's when Regina saw Emma exit the car. Her eyes screaming bloody murder as she walked up.

"Get in the car." Said Emma, standing before the three guys, her eyes glaring in their direction.

Regina didn't have to be told twice. She had climbed into the passenger seat of Emma's Volvo, shutting the door, not knowing what to expect out of this. Surely, she couldn't take them all by herself. What did Emma think she was doing?

"Hey," one of the guys chuckled. "Now, it's a party."

All shared a laugh that didn't amuse Emma one bit.

"That was a very dangerous maneuver, sweetheart." One of them said, stepping closer to Emma.

Emma's lip curled, her eyes darkened and they paled as what they heard come out of Emma's thin parted lips was the lowest, most disgruntled growl.

Regina wasn't sure what was happening. She thought she heard a growl, but really it could have been anything. Emma was standing as still as a statue until she whirled around and climbed into the driver's seat of her car. Her golden eyes, despite being a beautiful gold color, displayed fury. Regina gasped as Emma accelerated her car, skeeting it to a halt. The three guys fell along the concrete, taking off in a sprint afterward as if running for their lives.

The Volvo raced out of there, tires burning along the wet cement as Emma began to travel at incredible speed. Regina looked over to find Emma's knuckles turning whiter than they already were.

"I should turn around and rip those guy's heads off." Emma hissed. Her mind swimming with images of the damage she could do. Five seconds. That's all it would take for her to kill all three of them. But she couldn't hurt Mal like that. She couldn't become the monster she once was.

"No, you shouldn't." Regina breathed, her heart accelerating inside of her chest. Strangely, she believed Emma would turn around.

Emma's knuckles turned whiter, "Gina…" Her voice was a soft hiss.

"What?" Regina's eyes remain on Emma.

"Are you alright?"

"Yes." Regina blinks, her heart fluttering at the thought that Emma possibly did care for her. She never turned to look at her, but Regina could tell her fury still lingered.

"Talk about something else. Distract me so I won't turn around." Emma ordered.

"What?" Regina's brow furrows.

"Just prattle on about something unimportant until I calm down, please." Emma's eyes shut tight for a small moment before she glared forward again.

Regina racked her brain for something. Anything. "I'm going to run over Tyler tomorrow after school." Was the best she could come up with.

Despite her angered look, Emma's lip twitched into a small smirk at the intriguing thought. "Why?" She asked.

Regina wets her lips, "Because he's telling everyone that he is taking me to prom. Either he is trying to make up for almost running me over, or he has some type of death wish. So, I figured I'd attempt on his life and we can call it even."

"I heard about that." Emma muttered, seeming a little more composed.

"You did?" Regina's brow furrows. Her head tilted quizzically.

Emma glared in Regina's direction, turning her head right back toward the road ahead.

Regina blinked, "Zelena and Ella are probably waiting for me. They will be worried."

Emma made a smooth turn, driving along until she pulled over to the side of the road, right across a small Italian restaurant. She shut off her engine.

Regina's head whirled around, "How did you know where we…?" Before Regina could finish her question, she was surprised to see Emma abruptly exit her vehicle, shutting the driver's side door, walking around her car and holding the passenger door open. "What are you doing?" She asks.

"I'm taking you to dinner." Emma smiled slightly. Her mood seemed to change in her smile but not her eyes. Her eyes were still hardened despite their golden color.

Regina stepped out of the passenger side. She waited for Emma to shut the door before walking side by side with her until they reached the restaurant.

"Oh, my God! It's Emma Swan! What is Regina doing with her?" Emma picked up on Zelena's jealous thoughts.

"Regina, where were you?" Ella asked with concern in her voice. Her eyes darting to Emma.

"I'm sorry," Said Regina. "I got lost and I ran into Emma. She drove me here." Her eyes turn to Emma.

"Good evening. I'm sorry I kept Regina from dinner. We just sort of ran into each other and started talking. Would you mind if I joined you?" Emma spoke in her sultry and attractive voice.

Zelena and Ella's mouths dropped, their eyes sparkled, and their mouths practically salivated as they stared at Emma.

"No, not at all-" Said Zelena.

"Actually, Gina, we already ate. You took a while, and we were starving. Sorry." Ella said apologetically.

"It's fine. I'm not really hungry, anyway." Regina smiled.

"Um, you should eat something." Emma turns to Regina, her voice filled with authority. She turns to Zelena. "I'll make sure she gets something to eat. I'll drive her home myself."

Ella and Zelena blush crimson. Both share a glance with one another.

"That's so thoughtful." Ella grinned. "Wow, Regina's so lucky!"

"Yeah, that's very thoughtful." Said Zelena. "Are you kidding me? All of a sudden Emma Swan is into somebody and it's not me?"

"Okay, well, I guess we'll see you at school." Ella waves, linking her arm along with Zelena.

"Bye." Regina waves, turning back to Emma as soon as her friends are out of sight. "Honestly, Emma, I'm not hungry."

Emma looked down at Regina, "Humor me." There was that little smile again, dancing along the corner of her lip that Regina simply could not resist.

With no further protest or discussion, Regina walked into the restaurant as soon as Emma pulled the door open for her.
