A/N A reviewer commented that Xander shouldn't know about the Pacific Rim movie because it came out in 2013, although the screenplay was written in 2006. Technically, he shouldn't know about Firefly either since it came out in 2002 and this Xander is from the year 2000. Different realities are based on different decisions that have been made. The movie was inspired by video games that had been out for a long time. I have an arc planned that includes Xander seeing a different version of Star Wars and his reaction to it. George Lucas made a number of changes along the way according to my research. I think Xander's reaction is going to be...interesting.

Xander and Cordelia materialized on a warm beach.

"Oh this is so much better!" Cordelia exclaimed. "I am not meant for the cold. Sunny California beach girl here."

"Cool, bikini." Xander commented. "Well, let's have a look at the little guy and see if we need to take him to a vet. Cordy, he looks sort of dog like maybe."

"I wonder what kind of dog. Hard to tell given how small he is. I bet he weighs less then ten pounds."

"Which leaves out miniature breeds since full grown they'd be around that size. And he's got some fairly decent sized feet on him, for such a little guy. Which probably means he could get good sized. The brown color might change as he gets bigger. Looks like he wants down." Xander suggested as the small, brown dog like animal wiggled. Cordelia gently set him down and he shook himself. Then he raised his leg and peed on Xander's boot.

Cordelia started laughing at the expression on Xander's face. "Maybe he's marking his territory." She joked.

"Funny." Xander grumbled, as he dug the tip of his boot into the sand, trying to dry out the wet spot on his boot.

"I thought so." Cordelia agreed as she squatted down by the small animal. It excitedly licked her face. "He doesn't seem injured, but he must have been really scared. It's okay baby, you're safe now. I'm not going to let anybody hurt you. I promise."

"Cordy, I'm not sure we can take him reality jumping with us. Long term, how's that going to work?"

"We can't just leave him here either Xander. It could be the equivalent of introducing rabbits to Australia."

"You know about rabbits in Australia?"

"We vacationed in Sydney one year. And never again. There's alot of dangerous animals, snakes and spiders there. And the spiders can be huge."

"Ew."

"Yeah. Not that other places don't have dangerous stuff too. But my adoptive mother ran into a very large spider while we were there and refused to go back. After getting a good look at the thing I had nightmares for awhile. But I was six, so it probably looked bigger that it actually was."

"Well, pick him up. If he's coming with us, we need to get some supplies. Let's head up to the boardwalk I can see up there. We need to get stuff for him and stuff for us. Looks like I'm going to be building some more dimensional pockets."

"Thank you for not fighting me on him staying with us, Xander." Cordelia said seriously. "I realize it could be difficult to take care of him. But I feel responsible for him."

"Yeah, I guess I do too." Xander nodded and they headed up to the boardwalk. They followed it out to a parking area. A sign said the beach was currently closed.

"I wonder why the beach is closed." Xander said, after reading the sign. "The weather's great."

"I don't know, budget cuts making for a shortage of lifeguards. Or maybe there was a storm and they're still in the process of cleaning up. Any number of reasons."

"Yeah, too many to really speculate on. Excuse me." Xander said to a boy near his own apparent age of eighteen. "Do you know where we can find a pet store?"

"You'd have to go into town for that. There's a phone booth and phone book at the end of the pier. There's probably several different ones in town."

"Thanks, oh you dropped your wallet." Xander pointed to the ground near the boy's feet. He stuck his hand in his back pocket and said. "No, my wallet's here. There's a lost and found down near the phone booth, you want to drop it off?"

"Sure, no problem. Oh, if the beach is closed, why are people here?"

"There's going to be a concert, local band, and a bonfire."

"Thanks." Xander dropped the wallet at the lost and found and using the phone book attached to the payphone, found several pet stores in the nearby town of Eureka, California.

"We're back in California, Cordy." Xander told her as he looked through the phone book. "A town called Eureka. Not a town I've heard of. I wonder where it is in relation to Sunnydale or even if Sunnydale is here?"

"I hope not, I'm tired of ending up there. Call a cab and let's get moving, Doofus."

"As my Queen commands."

"Damn right, as I command." She smiled as she cuddled the pup in her arms.
