I don't own Twilight or its characters. Stephenie Meyer does.
Cheryl, Noles, and Gabby, thank you for pre-reading, and April, thank you for editing. Any mistakes left are my own.
Ch. 7
I woke up the next morning, feeling unsatisfied and alone. Everything had been going great, and I thought we would finally have sex until Edward doused those plans with a bucket of cold water. He claimed he was worried he could hurt me if we had sex. He wouldn't listen to my arguments that I couldn't recall ever being sick or hurt in my life. In the end, I found myself really going to bed. At least he had laid beside me as I fell asleep. But I woke up to him missing.
I searched the house and found the same vampire from the club, who collected me for Edward, in one of the lower rooms of the house. Apparently, he was my guard. I looked in my visions and found Edward at some office downtown. I then spotted a note on the bed from Edward to call him when I woke— I didn't even own a phone. I tossed the note aside annoyed at being left this way.
I glanced around the bedroom and thought about how I should decorate it. My first thought was to be a brat and decorate it in hideous colors, but since it was me who would be spending the lion's share of the time of the room, I changed my mind. The wall became a rich purple color with silver swirly accents. I always wanted a canopy bed growing up thinking I would be like a fairy tale princess, so I turned the one I was lying in into my vision. The corner posts were also silver with leaves and carved flowers and vines adorning them. The tapestries were multiple of different shades of purple and white twinkle lights. I changed the furniture in the room to a cherry finish and the carper to a soft beige.
I walked into the bathroom and added a large spa tub and glassed-in shower. I contemplated taking a shower but was a little weirded out showering in the house with a complete stranger listening nearby. I jumped to my store and made myself breakfast and got dressed for the day. I heard a knocking about the time I was finished. Walking out to the front, I spotted Alice, and unfortunately, Rosalie with her.
"Good morning," I greeted them.
Alice stepped in first, looking amused while holding up a cell phone. "Good morning. Apparently, you need this."
I took it from her. "Thanks." I walked back to the counter and put it down.
"Aren't you going to call him?" Alice asked.
"Nope. I assume you already told him I was at work," I answered her.
"That's really childish of you," Rosalie huffed, walking around the store, eyeing everything with distaste.
"It's not childish to want to be treated with respect and as an equal rather than as a child. He's the one that fled this morning, only leaving a note and a babysitter," I countered. "And if you think the store is so tacky then leave. I don't need your negative energy affecting everyone's moods."
"Stop reading our minds." Rosalie glared at me, her eyes narrowed into slits.
"I'm not reading hers, just yours. You have given me no reason to trust you and have been openly hostile toward me. I have the right to protect myself." I glared right back at her.
"Rose, you really should dial it back several notches before that hairy thing attacks you." Alice looked pointedly at Franklin.
"That ugly thing is alive?" Rose turned up her nose at the yeti.
"Franklin only comes to life if I'm in danger," I answered.
"His name is Franklin?" Alice giggled. "Like Frankenstein?"
"You're the first to get it." I grinned.
"Frankenstein was the mad scientist, his creation was referred to as the monster," Rosalie scoffed.
"Keep insulting him and see what happens?" I smirked.
Rosalie pursed her mouth then crossed her arms in front of her, she side-eyed my protector. She didn't say anything but continued to walk around the store getting on my last nerve.
I heaved a loud sigh. "Out with it already. We're going to have to deal with each other for many years to come, and this negativity and hostility of yours is already old. What is your problem with me?"
"I have no problem." She wouldn't look at me.
"Bullshit. Do you also blame me for Esme losing her arm?" I demanded.
"Edward told you about that?" Alice asked.
"Yes, he did. Well?" I looked back and forth between them.
"No. That's not it." Rosalie shook her head.
"What, are you jealous that I'm going to steal the spotlight off of you or something?" I asked.
"No," she said harshly.
"Liar," I called her out.
"I don't want to be the center of attention," Rosalie stated, and Alice snorted. "Fine. I do like attention, but that's not it."
"Well, you're jealous about something," I insisted.
Rosalie shook her head and went for the door, but Alice blocked her.
"Bella is right, just tell her. This animosity isn't just affecting the two of you. It all affects Jasper too, and I don't want him miserable," Alice said.
Rosalie closed her eyes for a moment. "You have the life I want."
"Trust me, I don't think you want my life. Magic you have no idea how to use to its full extent. And a soul mate, who treats you as if you're a child," I told her.
"But you can have a baby," she said softly.
"I told you I'd never cheat on Edward. So, what makes you think I'm going to have someone's baby?" I was upset she thought I would do something like that.
"But you could have Edward's," she said softly.
"Then why can't you have Emmett's, if you want a baby so badly?" I was confused.
"Female vampires can't have children," Alice explained.
"Well, that sucks and is really unfair. No wonder you're upset. But I still don't think you have anything to be jealous of. Edward refuses to have sex with me. So, no sex, no chance of a baby. Unless there's some sort of immaculate conception." I turned to Alice. "What did you see anyways? I assume it was you that foretold I was supposed to be some sort of powerful witch, then you must have seen a baby too. Because I don't see one."
"It was a relative of yours that actually made the prediction, some great great grandmother or maybe it was an aunt. I'm not sure. Don't get me wrong, I did see you would be a witch when you were first born; but not the extent of your powers. As for a baby…" Her eyes glazed over for a moment. "No baby, right now."
I glanced at Rosalie. "I guess we'll both have to be disappointed."
"I don't understand. Years ago, you saw a baby?" Rosalie's offense crumbled.
Alice shrugged. "I did. But the future changes all the time."
"It probably has to do with Edward being a stubborn old coot and refusing to have sex." I rolled my eyes.
"So, seduce him." Rosalie gave me a small smile.
"I've tried, but I welcome suggestions." I was glad we were finally past all the hostility. "You know, if a baby ever does come, it sounds like he or she will need all the protection they could get. Therefore, I would hope the both of you would be their biggest protectors since you will be their aunts."
"Aunts are cool," Alice said encouragingly.
Rosalie nodded but remained quiet. I could see her deepest desire was to become human again.
"I have no idea if I have the power to do that. But if I ever find out I can, I will let you know," I told her.
She looked at me, and I prepared for her to snap at me about reading her mind again. Instead, her smile became a little bit bigger. "Maybe, Alice and I can teach you so you can lower Edward's defenses."
"That would be nice," I agreed. "But first, I have a different question for Alice."
"Her name is Siobhan; she is also a witch with a vampire mate, they live in Ireland. And from what I can see, she'll help us.
"I can't wait to meet her," I smiled.
A few hours later, and with some helpful ideas from Rosalie and Alice, I made my way to Edward's office.
A/N:
A breakthrough and some understanding with Rose. Without Franklin attacking. I bet some of you were disappointed in that. I'm sure some you are upset with Edward at the moment too.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. I hope for everyone that celebrates has a good holiday weekend.
