After leaving the room, Mario headed down the hall to the right. He spotted a door and just as he reached for the handle, a loud sound scared him and he ducked into a corner. He noticed a small light flickering through the space between some boxes and smashed them out of the way with his hammer. He and Olivia peeked through the window.
"Let me go! I know what you're doing to my minions, and I order you to stop!"
There was a flimsy square being held captive by a clothesline pin. The square had Bowser's face, but no visible body. There was a silhouette on the wall of a large...thing, and an origami Shy Guy. There was also the shadow of the Goomba from before on the wall as well. Where were the Koopa Troopa and the Shy Guy?
"Stop this!" Bowser yelled, wriggling his square head around as an attempt to get free.
"No, I don't think I will." The Shy Guy spoke perfectly, unlike the one from the cell and Princess Peach, who spoke slowly. It also had a semi-calming voice, unlike the others, who sounded upset and tired. It too, also was upset, as Mario could pick up the hint of malicious tone in their voice, but it wasn't very noticeable.
"You creep! Get away from them and leave my family out of this!"
"Oh? There are more of you? Well, I suppose I'll have to fold them as well then."
Bowser growled.
The Shy Guy lifted their hand and the Goomba moved along with it. It folded, and moved over to the large thing. It clicked open and snapped shut with a loud kachunk. The Goomba waddled away, and the Shy Guy's shadow faced towards Bowser.
"You see, there is nothing you can do to stop me now. You are completely defenseless, and I have now finished folding the last of your minions that dared defy me." They stared for the door.
"We need to hide!" Olivia exclaimed.
The door opened, and Mario ducked behind a large box in the corner, Olivia going back into his pocket. The yellow Shy Guy exited first, leading the Koopa Troopa, the Goomba, a few Hammer Bros, and the green Shy Guy behind them.
The Shy Guy stopped walking and faced where Mario was hidden from view. "Hm...? What was that...? It must have been...nothing important..." It turned and followed the other ones out.
After they left, Mario poked his head above the box. "Huh. He started talking slow again."
Olivia exited Mario's pocket, a sad expression on her face. "Did you notice something weird about that Shy Guy, Mario? Around the face block, he was talking just fine, but otherwise he was speaking slowly."
Mario nodded and headed for the door. He opened it and entered, quietly closing it behind him.
"HEY! GET YOUR FOLDED BUTT OVER HERE! I'M NOT DONE COMPLAINING YE-Oh, hey Mario."
"Hey-a Bowser! What happened to you?"
"That dumb Shy Guy folded me into this, and I can't get out!"
"Bowser?" Olivia asked, tilting her head.
"YEAH! I am the most feared King in the Mushroom Kingdom! At least, I was until this "King Olly" guy showed up."
"Hang-a on, I'll pull you out."
"Did you say King Olly?" Olivia clarified.
"YEAH! HE SENT THAT SHY GUY TO FOLD ME AND MY MINIONS! HE'LL NEVER GET AWAY WITH THIS!"
"Oh no...It's worse than I thought."
"Olivia!" Mario called, pulling at the bottom of Bowser's square head. "Can you help me, please?"
"Oh, of course!" She flew over to Mario and joined in pulling at Bowser.
"Ow ow ow, I think it's working. Ow, ow."
"Wahoo!" Mario shouted as Bowser flew free from his clothesline pin prison.
"Grahaha!" He landed on the ground, still a square. "Huh, I thought I woulda unfolded. Try whacking me with that hammer."
Mario smacked him, Bowser squishing against the ground. He popped back up, still a square. "Huh. That-a didn't work either."
"Are you supposed to be a square?" Olivia asked Bowser, who was clearly frustrated.
"OF COURSE NOT! I'M SUPPOSED TO BE MUCH BIGGER AND STRONGER THAN THIS!"
"Okay, Squarser!"
"IT'S BOWSER!"
"Now's-a not the time to be arguing with a ten-year-old," Mario interrupted.
"I'm twelve, actually."
"SHUT UP!"
"Bowser!" Mario yelled.
"WHAT?!"
"If you keep yelling, we're all going to-a be folded!"
"Mario has a point, Bowser-square. If my brother or that Shy Guy sees us, we're going to be fed to the Chain Chomp."
"That was very-a specific."
"I'm serious, Mario."
"There's a back door outta this cell," Bowser stated.
"Why are there always holes in these things?" Olivia asked. "Are dingy dungeons supposed to have holes in all of its corners?"
"No," Mario said. "But it-a gives us an advantage. Let's-a go." Mario broke the boxes, and a thousand-fold arms circle flew out of it, fully charged with magic.
"They didn't even finish using this one before hiding it, huh?" Olivia smiled at Mario. "Time to go again! You should get used to this over time, right? You...do get used to magic over time, right?" Her smile had faded.
"Yes." Mario walked over to the circle, ignoring the laughter from Bowser. He felt around the wall again.
"It looks so stupid!" Bowser mocked. "Bwahahaha!"
"If you don't stop-a laughing, you're gonna get slapped by these eventually."
"Yeah, sure."
Mario felt a bit of the wall come off, and he tore it to the left. There was a visible passageway, along with the real wall behind it. Mario's arms returned to normal.
"Clever, covering up the real wall with a fake one," Olivia complemented. "I never would have thought of that!" She did a little dance. "Let's-a go! That's what you said, right?"
"HA! She stole your catchphrase!"
Mario whapped the back of Bowser's head. "Yeah, let's-a go!"
They continued, Mario taking the lead, bowser behind him, and Olivia in Mario's pocket. Mario made his way upstairs, Bowser complaining the whole time, up to the highest tower in Peach's castle. Mario exited the doorway and found the doors open.
Origami Peach exited, the yellow Shy Guy at her left side. "Mario...chose the wrong end..."
"Mario? I remember that turtle mentioning that name." He glanced at Mario, realizing his cover was blown. Olivia left Mario's pocket.
"Is that Peach? She's so pretty!"
"She's-a not supposed to be origami."
"Oh. She's still pretty!"
"That bright, crisp red. A very delicious color."
"Excuse-a me, sir. I am not an apple."
He turned more towards the three, Peach following suit. "Say, weren't you trapped before? How could you possibly have escaped without your strength?"
"SHUT UP! I'M GOING TO PUNCH YOUR STUPID FOLDED FACE IN! AND THAT KING OLLY GUY TOO! Where is he?"
"That way you're speaking..." Olivia started. "It couldn't be."
He looked at Olivia. "I'm not even going to think about how you got out. You were trapped in the wall, that's nearly impossible to escape from! Unless..." He faced back to Mario. "You can use the Magic Circles, can you not? You can use our origami magic. Odd, since flat beings have no such abilities."
"No, it's true." Olivia flew closer to the Shy Guy. "Brother?!"
"You took long enough. Such a shame that you took so long to recognize your elder twin." The Shy Guy floated up and unfolded, the color of the paper changing into a royal purple. He folded into someone who looked similar to Olivia.
He also had pale skin and blond hair, but his hair color was also a bit paled. His outfit was royal purple with a golden collar and crown, and white around the edge of his body and coattails. Mario noticed that all of his colors had a slight fade to it, as if his paper had been set in the sun too long. His feet where mauve and his hands a light grey. His hair was styled to block off his left eye.
He blinked twice, his trapezoid-shaped eye appearing. "That insult..."stupid folded face" was very irritating. If you wanted to actually upset me, you could have tried harder."
"HOW CAN YOU BE SO CALM ABOUT THIS?!" Bowser screamed. "AND WHAT DID YOU DO TO PEACHES?!"
He looked at her. "She's been folded into something better. And I also thought her name was Peach. Seems like I was wrong on that end. My bad, P...Peaches."
Mario face-palmed himself. "Fold her back."
"Hm...I'm afraid I cannot."
"Are you...not King Olly?" Mario asked.
"You thought he was?!" Bowser asked. "But he's so tiny!"
"Do not underestimate size, my friend. I am far stronger than I appear to be."
"SHUT UP! I don't believe you!" Bowser's square head charged at the tiny king.
He moved slightly out of the way, lifting his arm. Bowser froze.
"Why? Can't? I? MOVE?!"
"I told you not to underestimate me, friend."
"I am NOT your friend! Put me down!"
He moved Bowser back over to the group and dropped the Koopa.
"You are a very brave one, but also idiotic."
"So where's Olly then?" Mario asked.
"Are you not laying your eyes upon him? Did I fold myself wrong? I have done that once."
"Olly, what are you doing? Why did you trap me in a wall?"
"I disliked your idea of betraying me, sister."
"Um, hello! You folded Bowser into a square!"
"I wish to refold the world, and he got in my way."
"Then why didn't you just fold him?" Mario asked.
"HEY!"
Olly eyed Bowser. "I do not want him getting his awful stench all over my new kingdom."
"I DON'T SMELL!"
"You smell of ashes and burning wood, a scent I happen to dislike. I had hoped that you would rot in the dungeon, but I suppose that has changed now; hasn't it?"
Bowser screamed. "IF I COULD BREATHE FIRE ON YOU RIGHT NOW, I WOULD!"
"How...unfortunate." He faced Peach. "I would like it if you were to go back inside, Princess Peaches. I need to do a quick task, then I will join you for some tea and macaroons."
"Yes...King Olly..." She bowed and waddled back inside.
Olly faced back to the group, his eyes tilted at an angle that imitated a mad look. "You have gotten under my skin for the last time!"
"Uh-oh," Olivia muttered.
"Fortunately for you three, I need to spare my energy." He had calmed down rather quickly, sending a chill down Mario's spine. "I also wish to spare my best warriors, so I suppose I'll have to send somebody else after you instead."
The Goomba from before walked out of the door and faced Mario.
"I wanted to see a Toad...I never got to see...a Toad!"
Olly backed away a little, and the Goomba charged Mario. Bowser jumped in front of the red-clad hero and breathed a tiny fire on it, setting it ablaze. Mario jumped back in front and smacked it with his hammer. The Goomba fell to the ground.
"Well, you finished that rather quickly, didn't you."
Mario noticed that Olivia's hands were out in front of her, always touching, and Olly's were out to the sides. They were really different for being twins.
Like Mario and Luigi in a way.
Except one was clearly evil.
Luigi wasn't evil.
"Well, it doesn't matter. You have already held off my plan for long enough. If you fall and die, I wouldn't care."
Olivia looked down from the balcony. "I wouldn't say 'die.' It's more like you'd break a few bones."
"Not for long."
Olly raised his arms, Mario and Bowser bracing for one of them to go flying. They didn't, and instead the entire castle started shaking.
"Mamma mia!"
"Olly? How are you doing this? You could barely fold anything before!"
"I have my ways, sister. As for you, I would rather you not get injured. I suggest going inside."
"No way! I go where Mario goes!"
"Fair enough."
The castle lifted up from the ground. Mario noticed Olly's eyes were glowing purple, and a faint purple glow had engulfed him.
"We have to-a go!" Mario ordered, grabbing Olivia and heading for the main roof of the castle.
"Wait for me!" Bowser huffed, painting after Mario. Mario went back and picked him up as well.
"Waah!" Large colorful lines of paper where coming towards the castle from many directions. "Mamma mia!" Mario jumped over a red one and ducked under the purple one.
"There!" Bowser shouted. "Out in front of us! It's my Clown Kart!"
"C-clowns?" Oliva asked, shuddering.
Mario ran as quickly as he could, taking a daring leap towards the Clown Kart right as it passed underneath them. They all landed inside of it, and the red Shy Guy piloting it flew off. They stopped above Toad Town.
"Lord Bowser! You're alright!"
"Thanks to you." He looked back at the castle. "Poor Peaches..."
Olivia spotted Olly. "Um, guys? He stopped lifting the castle!"
"How dare you!" Olly shouted from the distance. "You cannot outrun me! I am the Origami King! You either obey, or perish!" He moved his left arm towards the right, and the blue streamer followed, heading straight for their escape kart.
"Wuh-oh!" The Shy Guy gasped, attempting to outrun the streamer.
Everybody screamed as it crashed into the Clown Kart. Mario held onto Olivia as they both went flying. The Clown Kart flew off with the Shy Guy and Bowser still inside, badly smoking.
Mario crashed against some trees, Olivia slipping out of his grasp. He landed with a thud, and everything was black.
