"Why do you only have one eye," Olivia asked as Mario did Shy Guys Finish Last again. He had to do the game show every time he wanted to go to the spa, but at least there was no sudden death this time.

"My paper is faded," Olly responded. "That is the equal to me slowly dying." He coughed again. "And since I used too much energy earlier, I sped up the dying process; hence the blood."

"Ah. Wait-"

"Congratulations, Mario and Olivia! You won everything! Take this trophy and get out of here before our ratings drop!" Emcee Shy Guy shouted, interrupting Olivia and startling both of the twins. Emcee Shy Guy was the host and the creator of the game show.

The floor popped open under Mario, sending Mario down some sort of slide. Since the floor had lowered and Olivia could only float and not fly, she descended as well, this time having fun on the way down. Olly peered down the hole.

"Hey, you want to try your hand at Shy Guys Finish Last?"

Olly waved a dismissive hand. "Oh, no. I'm actually with Mario."

"Huh. We must've over-looked you because you're so small..."

"Olivia and I are the same height-Why am I even bothering?" Olly exited through the hole as well.

"There you are!" Olivia called. "We thought you got stuck in there!"

Olly looked at the rainbow-colored water. "This is...very odd." Olly moved closer to it and touched it, ripples spreading across its surface. "This'll get us soggy..."

"Nope! This is special water that doesn't get you soggy. How does it work? I don't know, I don't make the rules!" Olivia splashed some water at his face. "Stop being a coward and join us!"

"Olivia, your crown..."

"I still have it. I suggest you take yours off too, unless you want to lose it in the water."

Olly removed his crown, something that came as a surprise to Mario. "I'll test it first. It's not that I don't believe you, Livi, I just don't trust something made from the Toads."

"Fair point."

Mario wanted to make a remark such as "you were made by a Toad," but decided to stay on Olly's good side. Olly dropped his crown into the water. He pushed it down, keeping it under the water for a few moments before bringing it back up. The crown seemed to be made of different paper, because it had a metallic sheen to it rather than looking like origami paper.

"I...it worked."

Olivia nodded. "See? Wasn't I right?"

Olly sat on the edge of the pool and slid in. He reached up, grabbed his crown, and pulled it under with him.

"It's nice seeing Olly like this," Olivia told Mario. "He seems happier now."

Mario looked around. "Shouldn't Olly come up now-a?"

"Olly, you should be fine now."

Olly only poked his head above the water, his pale complexion gone. "Mm...no wonder you like these things so much..."

"I know, right? They feel soo good..." Olly's face was red, much like Olivia's was whenever she entered one of the springs.

Mario exited the water, Olivia following. Olly did as well, wringing the water out of his bangs and crown.

"Olly! You look so nice! Purple and yellow look great together!"

Olly looked at his light grey hands. He pulled up his yellow collar, refolding them back down.

"...Yay!" He tried, sounding very monotonous still. He wasn't used to being happy or excited, but was trying despite that. "I have color. Actual color..." He wiped at his eyes. "Why am I crying again...?"

"You're happy! Crying is a secondary emotion, so you can cry from pretty much any emotion if it's strong enough." She gave her brother an embrace. "Now, where do you want to go?"

"Hm?" Olly replaced his crown. "Why?"

"We went here for you, sure, but I wanted to go here too. Where do you want to go?"

Olly looked to the horizon. The sun was nearly buried under the very clouds they stood on, casting a pink hue under them.

"I think I know where I want to go." He flew more to the edge of the cloud. "You may not understand why, but I want to go to Toad island."

"Let's go then," Mario said.

The journey there was silent, with Olivia piping in every now and again with questions for her brother; mostly about Mario. She was curious to see how much about Mario he knew, and Mario was surprised to see exactly how much he got correct. They left the boat and thanked the Sea Captain Toad for taking them there. Mario followed Olly inside, quickly falling behind the king.

"He flies fast!" Olivia said, saying with Mario.

He wasn't inside, so he was clearly in the back. Mario exited through the door and still didn't see Olly. He could now only be in the basement, so Mario headed down the stairs and through the door on the bottom.

Olly was indeed in there, tidying up the room. He went to the crafts table and finished folding Olivia's throne, which was white with yellow décor and her crown atop it like how Olly's held his. He moved both of the miniature thrones to the castle and placed them onto the balcony.

"What's he doing?" Olivia asked.

"I...don't know," Mario responded, watching Olly with interest.

Olly pulled open a drawer on the crafts table and brought out two sheets of origami paper that matched the twin's colors. He folded a tiny version of them and placed them on the thrones. He payed no attention when they tilted towards each other.

"Olly?" Olivia came closer to her brother. "What are you doing here? Are those supposed to be us?"

"He's not here. That means he's not bringing this to the Origami Festival anymore. I want to...you know what."

"Apologize to him. So you're finishing it for him?"

Olly nodded quickly, flying past her. "It's a favor for him...since he helped me with my...problem."

"I see. You accepted him so quickly!"

Olly stopped. "I'm not ready to accept him yet. I don't think I can. I just feel bad for hurting him, and it seems he might give up origami because of me. He did give me life, so I have no reason to hate him..."

"Ah. Do you need help?"

Olly shook his head. "You don't know what he wanted, but I do." Olly picked up one of the small houses on the display, tidied the folds, and placed it back down.

Olly went over to the crafts table for a bit, obviously folding something. He came back and placed a few floating lanterns around the castle and the town it watched over. Olly looked proud of his work before realizing that he had to find a way for them to take it to Toad Town without ruining any of it.

"Oh, lightbulb!" Olivia exclaimed.

"Pardon? 'Lightbulb?'"

Olivia nodded. "That means I have an idea! You can just fold it up really small and fix it when we get there!"

"That would work."

"What about the-a other folds from when you fold it really-a small?" Mario asked, moving his fingers close, but not touching.

"I'm the Origami King!" Olly boasted. "I can undo origami and you couldn't even tell it was folded!"

"Impressive."

Olly froze and shakily turned. The Origami Craftsman was standing in the doorway, arms crossed. He walked over to the display.

"Aww, did you finish this for me?"

"Bu-but...!" Olly stuttered.

"What? Did you think I was going to quit origami after what happened? No way!" He held up a bag. "I was just grabbing some bread. For sandwiches."

"Sand?"

"It's not actually sand, Olly." He chuckled. "Sometimes I forget you were just folded today and don't know much." He pulled out a loaf of bread. "I'll make you a sandwich."

He walked back up the stairs.

Olivia smiled at Olly. "Are you happy now? You talked to him without being mad or scared!"

Olly rubbed his head. "I guess I did?"

"You don't mind us stopping for sandwiches, do you?" She asked Mario, who shook his head.

"We're the Mario Brothers, and plumbing's our game!"

The twins looked around. "Where did that come from?" Olly asked, panicked.

Mario pulled his phone out of his pocket. "When your sink's in trouble, you can call us on the double!"

"What's that thing?" Olivia asked.

"It's-a my phone!"

"You're in for a treat, so hang onto your seats!"

Mario looked at it to find Peach was calling him. He and Luigi had worked together to buy her and a few others phones so they could keep in touch.

Mario answered it. "Hello? What is it-a, Peach?"

"Mario!"

Olivia gasped gently. "It's Peach! Hi, Peach!" She waved at the phone.

Mario told her to wait for a minute and covered the speaker with his hand. "She can't see or hear you, Olivia. Do you want to-a talk to her?"

"Hi, Peach!"

Mario smiled. "I'll-a take that as a yes." He put her on speaker and video call, Olivia coming over.

"Hi, Peach!"

Peach waved. "Hello, Olivia. Where are you?"

"We're in the Origami Craftsman's basement!"

"How...fun. Anyways, I wanted to tell you that we're almost done fixing up Toad Town! The decorations are almost complete, and I want to see Olly."

The Origami Craftsman returned, holding two sandwiches. "Hello, Princess."

She waved to him.

He handed one of the sandwiches to Olly. "Enjoy!"

"Why do you need to see-a Olly?"

She smiled. "I have a gift for him. I would have given Olivia one too, but I have no idea what to get her!"

"I don't need gifts if I have the gift of friendship!" Olivia sang.

Olly took a bite of the sandwich. He gasped gently.

"That's really sweet, Olivia."

"Thank you!" She bowed to Peach. "I'll make sure to get Olly there ASAP!"

"Thank you, you two."

"Olivia! Livi, Livi, Livi!" Olly came over, shoving the sandwich onto her face. "Try it! It's soo good!"

"Olly, that's just bread. Where'd the ham go?" Owen asked.

"I ate it." He did an excited hop. "But the bread's better! So good!"

Owen looked at his sandwich. "To each their own..."

"Get your soggy bread away from me!" Olivia pushed the bread from her face.

"It's not soggy! So rude!" Olly turned away from her, munching on the bread again. "Rude little Livi..."

"Peach wants to see you," Olivia told him, changing the subject.

"Oh?" He turned back around. "Is that so? I wonder why she wants to see me..."

"Only one way to find out! Back to the castle!"

When they got back, Peach welcomed them at the doors. She grabbed Olly's hand and brought him away from Mario.

"You two can look around if you like! The Toads are proud of the decorations."

Olivia cheered as her and Mario left. Peach led Olly inside, still holding his hand.

"Your colors are crisp," she complemented. "It's a nice look for you. I wasn't expecting your crown to be so shiny though! Metallic paper?"

Olly nodded, staying silent.

She led him to the dining room, where a long table sat in wait with a tablecloth neatly tossed over it. A few people were seated, one of them looking similar to Peach, except having tan skin, and orange dress, and red-brown curls. She was playing with a napkin folded into a small triangle, attempting to flick it between a yellow Yoshi's open hands.

Peach pulled out one of the chairs and grabbed a box. She handed it to Olly. "It's for you."

Olly hesitantly accepted it. He sat on the ground, box between his legs, and pulled the top off. Inside sat exact replicas of the Legion of Stationery, only small and inanimate. Olly felt tears build up again and brought them into an embrace.

"My Legion! Ow." He pulled the scissors out of his arm. "I forgot these could kill me...Oh, how am I kidding? I missed you!"

Peach smiled. "I'm glad you like them. I had pictures of all the Legion members and got some Toads to recreate them for you. The Hole Punch was very...exciting."

The triangle hit Peach on the side of the head. The lady apologized and stood. She was wearing orange sneakers.

"Sorry, Peachy!" She picked it up. "Oh? Who's this little guy and why is he hugging art supplies?"

Olly's face turned red. "I-I...oh dear...This is embarrassing."

"Whatever weird like you have for art supplies, I don't care 'cause I'm wearing sneakers 'stead of flats like I should."

Olly tilted his head.

"Oh, come ON! Don't tell me you haven't heard of me!"

Olly tilted his head the other direction.

She slapped her palm against her forehead. "Well, at least you didn't tell me."

Peach covered her ears.

"HI I'M-" She cleared her throat. "I'm Daisy. Princess Daisy of Sarrassaland."

Peach uncovered her ears. "She's my cousin!"

"What's a cousin?"

"I keep forgetting you only really know about origami!" Peach admitted.

"You need to get out more," Daisy said. She flicked the triangle back to the Yoshi. "Anywho, I'm going back to my game. If ya need me, call. Okay?"

"Okay...?"

Daisy and the Yoshi walked off, chatting.

"She's visiting for the Origami Festival."

"Ah."

"I hope you enjoy the gift!"

"Peach." Somebody poked their head in from the doorway. She came over to Peach and curtsied. "The festival is ready."

"Ooh, yay." She held out a hand to the newcomer. "This is Rosalina, who is also visiting for the festival."

Olly stared at her hair. The bangs...

She looked at him. "He's tiny." She crouched down to his level. "A crown? Are you a prince?"

Olly's face turned red. "I'm a King! The Origami King! I'm surprised you hadn't heard of me. I almost succeeded on killing the Toads!"

"Oh, his face turns all red when he gets mad. That's adorable. Like an angry Luma."

Olly faced away from her.

"Wait, why's your hair styled like that?"

"I was...folded this way." Olly faced back to her, calmed down. "What about you?"

She touched the bangs that blocked her right eye. "I-um...I..."

"It's fine," Olly said. "At least you aren't missing an eye..."

Peach lifted Olly's bangs. "It looks like you have both of them to me, Olly."

Olly's eyes watered. "Ah-The light. It hurts so much." Olly rubbed his eyes. "Ow, oww...Why? Oh gosh, why?"

"Ah! Sorry!"

Olly flicked his bangs. "No need, Peach. Anyways, I should be heading out. This place is literally a festival about origami! I cannot miss this!" He happily exited through the door.

The lights in the town were off except for a few stray street lights. Olly didn't see anyone.

Peach walked onto the balcony of the castle, holding a microphone. "Hello, everyone! I am Princess Peach, the founder of this festival."

Toads cheered, startling Olly.

"I see people from all over in Toad Town tonight! That's wonderful, because I have an announcement to make!"

A few people booed.

Peach giggled. "Okay, okay. I'll make this quick. It's about the magic of origami, or the magic of creation."

The crowd burst into cheers again, a few people whistling.

"You remember Olly, right? Well, of course you do, it's still the same day. Heh."

The crowd laughed.

"But anyways...Origami is powerful. To some, origami is life itself! Fold of Life, although forbidden, is the power to create living people from origami."

"Where is she going with this?" Olly asked himself. "And where's Olivia?"

"Olly only did those vile things because he was scared, alone, hurt, and felt abandoned."

Olly felt like every eye had turned in his direction.

"But as the Princess of the Mushroom Kingdom, I don't want that for anyone; even if they're different than us. So that's why, on this day every year, we will hold the Origami Festival."

"What?" Olly whispered. "Why?"

"'Why' you might ask? Because, creation! We take advantage of it sometimes! You can ask Mario. His world over-abuses the ability to create. I heard him mention nuclear weapons once, whatever that means! It sounds dangerous though..."

"What is that?" Olly asked.

"But I want to make sure we don't! I want to make sure we can live in peace with Origami Folk like the both of them wanted."

"What...?" Olly muttered.

"Origami is special. Origami is everything to Olly and his sister, Olivia. I want to make sure that Olly knows we care about him and his craft."

Olly felt touched.

She held out a hand. "So I want you to thank Olly for giving me this realization! And also wish him a happy birthday because he was folded today so..."

A spotlight turned on above Olly. He turned to find that all eyes were staring at him. He spotted Olivia in the crowd, so that comforted him a bit.

"Uh...thanks I guess." The blue Toad closest to Olly said half-heartedly.

"Yeah, villain," another agreed.

"Hey! Don't be mean!" Bowser stomped through the crowd over to Olly, slapping a hand onto the king's back. "Look, I hate him too, but at least I'm not a judgy little idiot!"

"Olivia..." Olly attempted to leave before being brought closer by Peach.

"Hey, I tried to do something nice for him and you're still going to treat him like this?" Peach was visibly upset. "Origami saved you! Don't you think he can change?"

"A few years in the Underwhere ought to do him some good!" A Toad shot back.

Olly wanted to join his sister, but Peach wouldn't let go.

"Peach is right!" The Origami Craftsman shoved his way through the crowd to join Peach and Bowser up front. He crossed his arms and huffed. "That's my son you're talking about! He gave you back Peach's Castle, and did everything in his power to make it up to you! You guys are the true villians if you aren't willing to accept that!"

The blue Toad sighed. "He makes a good point, but don't expect us to like him quick."

Olly forced himself from Peach's grasp when the group separated.

"Olly, I'm so sorry. I was trying to make it better, but I think I made it worse for you." She bowed.

Olly ignored her and went to find his sister. He pushed past a few Goombas and went to where he'd last saw Olivia. He looked around. She was gone.

"Olivia?"

No response.

"Curse my soft-spoken nature!" Olly flew higher to see if he could spot her from the sky. "Olivia!" He called again, still with no response.

He was drawn to the kingdom that the Origami Craftsman had made. It stood in all of its finished glory, the small kingdom seeming to watch over the rest of the crafts despite its size. The tiny king and princess sat together, hand in hand, happily watching the people examining the creations nearby. Olly felt a sense of peace and familiarity at that moment, not knowing why.

"Olly..."

He looked to find Bobby standing next to him. He was wearing an orange origami samurai helmet, with a matching sword at his side.

"It looks cool. Origami really is something, huh?"

Olly nodded. "This feels so familiar...us overlooking Origami Kingdom like this, even though it's not us."

Bobby smiled. "I wouldn't think about it too much. You should just enjoy the festival. It's about you, after all!"

Olly giggled, folds rattling. "Not exactly. It's about origami altogether, not just its king they aren't willing to accept."

"Your giggle is kind of cute. Reminds me of Olivia's..."

"We are identical, and I'm-You like her?"

Bobby's face reddened. "Uh...You won't kill me if I told you, right?"

Olly smiled. "Of course not! I feel happy for you two! At least you figured out how to love...Ever since what happened with the Origami Craftsman, my heart just seems to block off the feeling of love altogether. This probably sounds crazy..."

Bobby shook his head. "No, my mind pretty much did the same thing. I was so traumatized from that Gooper Blooper that my mind just said 'nope, you don't need that anymore' and I completely forgot everything."

"Oh, is that what happened?"

Bobby laughed. "Pretty much?"

Olly giggled again. "You're funny, I can see why Olivia likes you."

Bobby laughed awkwardly. "You really think so?"

Olly nodded, being sincere. "No, I know so. If Olivia's anything like me, that means you're really special to her." He rubbed his arm. "I would expect her to be since I had folded her after all...People made with Fold of Life tend to reflect the creator."

"So that means you're like the Origami Craftsman," Bobby asked. "That makes sense! You fold really well."

"Aww, shucks." Olly blushed, embarrassed. "You don't need to say that. Tell me the truth, it's horrible."

"Stop being so modest! You were bragging about your origami a few hours ago when you unfolded Peach's castle! What happened to your happy energy?"

"I've never been happy before," Olly said. "I don't know how that feels."

Bobby blinked. "But...you're happy right now."

Olly tilted his head. "Am I? I don't feel different from before..."

"You won't feel physically different!" Bobby told. "It's more like your heart is all warm inside."

Olly placed a hand to his chest. "Um..."

"Not literally!" Bobby sighed. "You're just like Olivia..."

Olly smiled. "We ARE twins."

"Twins who need to go out more."

"Oh, there you-a are, Bobby!" Mario exclaimed, running over to Bobby. "Oh, and Olly! Olivia's looking for-a you!"

"Well, great for her, because I'm also looking for her!"

"Reunite the twins," Bobby said. "Twins should never be separated!"

Mario laughed. "Yup! He's-a right! Where's Weegee?" He walked off.

Olivia came shortly after, wearing a chain-link necklace that was too large for her. "Olly!"

She tackled him, knocking the both of them over.

"Olly! Peach protected you during that thingy! That was so nice of here, huh? What are you doing here? Have you seen the Origami Craftsman yet?"

"Woah, woah! One at a time!" Olly elevated her with his feet. "But get off of me first, maybe? I want to breathe."

"Sorry!" She got off of him. "That wasn't weird, was it?"

Olly laughed. "You're weird!"

"Hey, what?! No I'm not! Be honest with me!"

"I don't mind as long as you don't crinkle me," Olly said, fixing his folds. He straightened his crown. "Bobby sure is something, huh?"

"Oh, hi Bobby!" She waved to the Bob-om.

"I'll let you and ma'am talk," he said, walking off.

"So...this display...Does it seem...familiar to you? Like some sort of odd memory? One that you shouldn't remember?"

Olivia looked at it. "A little, yeah. I wonder why. We've never ruled together."

"I kept seeing you everywhere, but it also wasn't you at the same time. She looked older and acted more mature than you."

"I did the same thing once. He looked like you and told me a story with origami, but it also didn't seem like you at the same time. It was after you beat Mario half to death after Chikyū's shrine."

"I saw one then too. That's why I took pity on you two and lowered the tower for you. I have no idea what's going on...It didn't happen until I turned against you when you told me to stop at Peach's Castle."

"When Mario first met you?"

Olly nodded, cowardly covering his face with his collar. "Yeah...And that wasn't the last, either. I saw more and more the longer the day dragged on. Sometimes, I'm convinced I'm seeing one right now and we're still in that castle, me on the brink of death."

"Oh Olly, that sounds super depressing..."

Olly nodded, folding his collar back down. "But every time I think that, I tell myself 'either way, I'm still breathing' and it makes me feel better; at least a little."

Olivia smiled, her gaze returning to the castle. "They're so cute though! Look at them! They look like they're holding hands! Sqweee!"

Peach and Mario came over, and Olly noticed they were holding hands. She smiled at Olly.

"Has things been a little better now? I didn't mean to mess up like that..."

"Nobody is perfect," Olly explained, "and I know that. You cannot be a proper ruler without taking a few risks, am I right?"

"I guess that makes sense..."

The Origami Craftsman came over holding a lantern. "Oh, Olly! I wasn't expecting to see you here!"

"Where'd you get the lantern?" Olly asked, trying to keep the conversation as far from what happened throughout the day as much as possible.

"There's a Toad handing them out," he responded. "He's coming this way with the last three."

"Three?"

The Origami Craftsman nodded. "I guess you're still not included, but they might try in the future. Who knows?"

"Oh, that's alright. I can just fold my own."

"Hm? And will it glow? Will it float?"

Olly smiled. "I am the Origami King, after all."
