MYSTIC FALLS HIGH SCHOOL
Emily walked inside of the loud and brightly colored decade dance while she held Stefan's hand tightly in her own once they finally walked into the cafeteria to come face to face with the feared hybrid. The human and vampire couple had arrived fifteen minutes after Elena and Damon had, even though they rode together, since Stefan wanted Emily to experience the sixties with him which came in the form of making out against his hot rod of a car.
It had calmed Emily's nerves about someone getting hurt because of her tonight by a lot, so the human girl didn't mind at all that they were the last ones to show up. It gave her time to relax her mind and for Emily to focus on her task for the dance. There was, of course, the whole Bonnie destroying Klaus, but Emily's task was to make sure that no harm comes to anyone she loves. That was all the Gilbert girl cared about or she would gladly put her life on the line for them.
The human girl took a deep breath as she stood at the edge of the sixties dance with the comfort of her boyfriend right beside her before Emily began her search through all of the dancing teenagers to find the group of people that they were looking for. It was hard to find them through all the different patterns of clothing, though, but finally after a full and very long song had passed, Emily spotted her two siblings, Bonnie, and Damon standing to the side of the DJ booth.
The Salvatore vampire nodded his head as he also spotted their group of friends and siblings just as Emily had spoke. Stefan then placed a light kiss onto the human girl's forehead and squeezed Emily's hand as he prepared himself for the long night at Mystic Falls High School. The green eyed vampire was honestly dreading all of it as he didn't want anything to happen to Emily. He would hate himself if he allowed Klaus to take her away, so Stefan was quite anxious. However, Stefan knew that this needed to be done to insure that the human girl would be safe, so the Salvatore vampire pulled Emily closer into his body before he walked her through the crowd of humans and towards the DJ booth.
"Hey, guys," the Gilbert girl loudly uttered to her siblings and friends over the loud music with a small smile and a slight wave of her fingers as she greeted them once she and Stefan had finally pushed their way through all of the dancing and sweaty teenagers and they were standing in front of the small group.
"There you are," Bonnie sighed when she finally laid eyes on the human girl in the red dress before she swiftly pulled Emily into a tight hug. The Bennett witch was confident in her powers and her ability to get rid of Klaus but she was still so worried. She felt like she needed Emily in her sights or everything was just going to go to hell. However, Bonnie knew she could relax for now so she took a deep breath before she pulled away from their tight embrace. Bonnie then lifted an eyebrow at the human girl before she wondered, "what took you guys so long? We literally passed each other on the road."
A smirk slowly lifted onto the human girl's lips as she leaned her head onto Stefan's shoulder before she secretly uttered about what took them so long to get into the dance, "Stef was just telling me about the sixties."
Elena rolled her brown eyes at her twin sister before she let out a low chuckle. "She means they were making out," the Gilbert vampire explained to the Bennett witch with an amused shake of her head.
"What?" The human girl wondered as she noticed everyone was looking at her in amusement - well, except for her brother, who was looking disgusted at the idea of his older sister making out with the vampire. Emily then carelessly shrugged her shoulders as she wasn't the least bit sorry and uttered, "it's not my fault my boyfriend looks so hot in his sixties get-up," before she pulled the younger Salvatore into a kiss as she couldn't get enough.
The witch, the two vampires, and the human all couldn't help but laugh at the Gilbert girl's actions before Emily and Stefan joined in once they pulled away from their embrace. The group was actually enjoying themselves and having fun for the time being like they weren't actually about to face off with the most dangerous vampire in the world. However, that fun was all about to end when the bubbly Dana Johnson walked up onto the stage by the DJ booth.
"Thanks for being here, everyone!" Dana loudly praised into the microphone with a wide smile once the DJ had turned off the loud music and the cafeteria grew silent before everyone began to clap and cheer. The Johnson teenager looked around at her fellow dressed up classmates before she announced for the reason why she had stopped the party, "we have a special shout-out tonight." Dana looked for a certain girl for a moment before she locked eyes on one of her cheer captains and uttered, "this is for our lovely Emily Gilbert - from Klaus!"
Emily couldn't help but roll her green eyes, despite the nervousness she was feeling again, while everyone clapped and the lyrics began to come out of the DJ booth ~ this is dedicated to the one I love. This is dedicated to the one love. "Wow," the Gilbert girl mumbled as she crossed her arms over her chest before she mumbled in annoyance, "real original, Klaus."
"That was a lame cheap shot," the older Salvatore vampire muttered with the same annoyance the human girl was showing as he was already tired of the hybrid. Damon then glanced around the room for a moment before he faced the girl that was in danger, his girlfriend, and brother as he exclaimed, "he's just trying to bait us."
However, no one felt better by Damon's words. Instead, they all just tried to find someone at the decade dance that didn't belong. But sadly, there were coming up empty. "We know everyone here," Elena murmured with her brows furrowed in confusion that she couldn't find the person that was taunting her twin sister.
"Maybe he's not even here," the younger Salvatore uttered as he glanced around them while he gripped tightly onto his girlfriend's hand along with a hand protectively on her waist. "Maybe he just wants us to believe that he is," Stefan continued with a small shrug when he couldn't find Klaus. The green eyed vampire wasn't really sure if he believed his own words, though, as Stefan felt like Klaus would want to see the terror he's causing and he wouldn't just compel Dana for the hell of it.
The nervous group of humans and supernatural beings all continued to try to find the hybrid before the older Salvatore exclaimed when they were all coming up empty again, "it's a party, people. We need to blend in." Damon glanced over to the human girl, his girlfriend, and brother towards the right of him while the Bennett witch and the younger Gilbert was on his left before he told them, "let him come to us."
The Bennett witch in the red and orange dress nodded her head as she agreed with the older Salvatore for the first time before she murmured, "good idea." Bonnie squeezed the human girl's wrist with a confident look on her face to show Emily that she would be ready for anything before she grabbed ahold of Jeremy's arm so they could blend in like all the other students.
"No, no," the youngest Gilbert quickly disagreed with Bonnie's idea and planted his feet onto the ground of the cafeteria as he realized what the Bennett witch was going to make him do. "I really don't feel like dancing," Jeremy uttered as he tried to stop it from happening by making an excuse.
"Too bad," Bonnie uttered in a light singing voice as she shot the brunette teenager a small smile, despite all their problems right now, before Bonnie moved her warm fingers down Jeremy's arm until their fingers were locked together before she pulled the youngest Gilbert with all her might into all of the dancing students.
The two Salvatore and Gilbert couples watched Jeremy and Bonnie walk away before all their eyes went back to their surroundings as they looked for Klaus, once again, instead of actually blending in like they were supposed to. However, the oldest Salvatore had a purpose of standing there before he uttered a nod of his head when he found the person he was looking for, "there's Ric." The blue eyed vampire linked his fingers through Elena's before he told his brother and the human girl, "we'll go catch him up on what's happening."
The older vampire then went to pull him and Elena towards the local vampire hunter but he paused when Elena mumbled, "stop." The Gilbert vampire released Damon's hand before she swiftly threw herself into Emily's arms. "Be careful," Elena whispered into her sister's ear as she held Emily as tightly as she could.
Emily squeezed her twin's waist just as tightly - well at bit less since she was human. The green eyed girl was nervous about them splitting up as she didn't want Klaus to plan a sneak attack and hurt one of them. However, Emily knew this was something that they needed to do if they were ever going to find the hybrid, so the human girl whispered right back before she watched as her sister and Damon walked away, "be careful, too."
The Gilbert girl stayed silent until she saw Damon and Elena walk up to Alaric before she turned and faced her boyfriend. Emily gave the green eyed vampire a small smile before she uttered, "looks like we need to blend in, Mr. Salvatore" The human girl figured that she could at least enjoy one of the decade dances for once until everything goes to hell.
"Indeed we go, Ms. Gilbert," Stefan uttered in the same tone as the human girl had used with a small smile playing on his lips. The Salvatore then lightly grabbed ahold of his girlfriend's hand and gave it a small squeeze before he pulled her into the middle of the decade event so they could dance and also blend in.
Emily instantly wrapped her arms around the Salvatore vampire's neck once they came to a stop before they began to slowly dance to the slow sixties song that was playing throughout the packed cafeteria. The human girl stared directly into Stefan's sparkly green eyes with a soft smile playing on her painted lips as she felt relaxed and safe in Stefan's arms before she praised, "thank you for being my dancing partner tonight."
"You'll always have a dancing partner with me," Stefan uttered as he protectively wrapped his arms around his girlfriend's waist and held her tightly. The Salvatore vampire, even though he complained about coming to the decade dance, was happy with Emily in his arms. They never really get to be just with each other, except if they are going to sleep, so it was nice to be out in public and to able to show his love for his girlfriend.
"Now," Emily exclaimed as soon as a fast paced song began to blare loudly through the crowded cafeteria before she shot the Salvatore vampire a smirk and asked, "how about you show me these dancing skills that I only got a taste of?" The Gilbert girl had remembered the short amount of dancing she saw from her boyfriend in the hallway, so she wanted to see it in action now that they were all dressed for the sixties.
Stefan let out a small chuckle as he knew that he wasn't going to be able to avoid going all out with the sixties dancing that the human girl obviously wanted. "Alright," the younger Salvatore finally agreed with a nod of his head after a minute or two as he watched the happiness on Emily's face before he pointed at the human girl and ordered with teasing in his voice, "but once you see me rule this floor, we aren't entering in any dancing competitions."
Emily innocently held up her hands once she removed them from her boyfriend's neck before she exclaimed with a playful and giddy giggle, "I promise. No competitions." The Gilbert girl then rose an eyebrow at Stefan as she curiously wondered, "so, what dance are we doing tonight, Mr. Salvatore?"
Stefan glanced around at the dancing students in cafeteria for a moment and noticed that they were all doing the mashed potato. The green eyed vampire didn't want to do whatever everyone else was doing as he wanted Emily to feel special and have a memorable night tonight, so Stefan shot the human girl a small smirk before he gripped her hands in his own with a few inches between them and began to turn his hips in a twisting motion as he waited for Emily to notice what dance he was going for.
The Gilbert girl instantly grinned when she recognized that they were doing one of her favorite dances from the sixties; the twist. It had always been one of Emily's favorite as it was so carefree, fun, and the fact that you can add your own spin to it. Once the loud music had picked up speed, the human girl began to get more into the dance with her boyfriend. Emily bent her knees and twisted her hips back and forth as she followed after Stefan while they moved in sync.
The Salvatore vampire then surprised the human girl when he suddenly released her left hand and swiftly twirled Emily underneath his arm for three full circles before they were back in their original position. Stefan shot the surprised human girl a smirk as they danced like that for a moment before the music picked back up. The Salvatore vampire released Emily's left hand, and began to do the twist like that before he pulled Emily into his chest and went around in a circle before he released her hand her hand and did it repeatedly.
Once the Salvatore vampire realized the song was about to end, Stefan decided to give the human girl one last surprise. So, right as the last few seconds of the song played and Stefan twirled Emily around, the green eyed vampire then swiftly gripped the human girl's waist and lifted her into the air before he tossed her and caught her a few seconds later as the song came to a close.
The Gilbert girl was breathing hard as the song came to an end and a slower one began to play. Emily had not expected that at all when she and Stefan started dancing. It was honestly such a surprise but the human girl enjoyed herself more than she would have hoped. Emily shot the grinning Salvatore a wide smile before she uttered with a small chuckle as she was still so shocked, "you are amazing, Mr. Salvatore."
Stefan placed his left hand onto Emily's hip and pulled her into him as he placed his other hand on the human girl's cheek before he whispered with a soft smile, "not as amazing as you, Ms. Gilbert." The Salvatore vampire then pulled his girlfriend into a sweet and meaningful kiss as he poured all his emotions out into their embrace about his fears of losing her to Klaus and just how much she means to him.
Emily gave her boyfriend a small smile once they pulled away from their embrace and lovingly rubbed the side of his cheek before the human girl wrapped her arms around Stefan's neck and whispered as she knew what Stefan meant by the kiss, "I love you, too." The human and vampire couple then began to slowly dance to the slow song with Stefan's arm wrapped around the human girl's waist and with Emily's head resting against the vampire's heart.
The human doppelganger released a low breath as her cheek rested against the vampire's dark suit while she absorbed the comfort that she was feeling when the hybrid could be anywhere right now. Emily just felt relaxed at the moment, though, as she felt like everything else just disappeared around her and Stefan. However, the human girl knew that really wasn't the case right now. Emily just feared something bad was going to happen. She could just feel it in her chest like she usually felt when something horrible happens, and Emily feared what could be lurking in the corner.
"Ah, crap," Emily mumbled after a few minutes of slow dancing with her loving boyfriend when she spotted someone across the crowded cafeteria. The Gilbert girl lifted her head from Stefan's chest before she pointed towards the doorway and stated, "we forgot to tell Care about what's happening tonight." Emily had totally forgotten to tell the blonde vampire about their plan to get rid of Klaus since everything just happened so quickly after school.
Stefan glanced over to the direction the human girl was looking towards before he gave Emily a small nod as he realized that the blonde vampire wasn't in the loop. "I'll go tell her," the Salvatore vampire promised before he placed a lingering kiss onto the human girl's forehead. Stefan then glanced over Emily's shoulder and towards his brother before he twitched his head to tell Damon that he was leaving as Stefan didn't plan on leaving the human girl alone at all tonight when Klaus could snatch her up.
Emily bit down on her bottom lip as she watched her boyfriend walk up to her best friend and Matt as she prayed nothing would happen to those two tonight with Klaus stalking around. However, before the human girl could worry too much, she pushed out of her thoughts when her twin sister and the older Salvatore walked up to her.
The twin sisters and the older Salvatore stood there for a moment as they watched Stefan begin to talk to Caroline and Matt before Damon was the one to break silence. "Go make sure Stefan tells vampire barbie everything," the blue eyed Salvatore told Elena as he nodded his head towards the two vampires and the Donovan teenager.
Elena looked between her boyfriend and sister with a bit of puzzlement in her brown eyes as she knew Stefan wasn't going to leave anything out when her twin's life depended on it. However, the Gilbert vampire figured it wouldn't hurt to make sure Stefan did in fact tell Caroline everything about Klaus's song shout-out and Bonnie's plan, so she gave Damon a quick kiss and squeezed her twin sister's shoulder before she quickly headed towards the two vampires.
Damon and the human girl stood there for only a short moment before the Salvatore vampire turned his body to the side and faced the human girl with his hand held out. The blue eyed vampire nodded his head towards the dancing humans before he told Emily, "come on. Let's dance."
The Gilbert girl immediately rolled her green eyes at the Salvatore vampire before she exclaimed and began to walk away, "goodbye, Damon." There was no way in hell Emily was going to dance with one of her least favorite people in the world. Damon just rubbed her the wrong way ever since he temporarily killed her baby brother. Emily didn't take kindly to someone hurting her family, so she still held a grunge for that.
However, before the human doppelganger could walk away from the Salvatore vampire and get as far away as possible, Damon swiftly grabbed ahold of Emily's hand and twisted her into his grasp until they were face to face. "I think it's due time we talked," the Salvatore vampire told the human girl as he stared into her green eyes. Damon had been wanting to have this conversation ever since he and Elena had gotten together but it just had never seen like the right time.
Emily pulled her arms from Damon's hold and crossed them over her red dress with an annoyed huff before she looked at the older Salvatore with a raised eyebrow. "Are you serious right now?" The Gilbert girl questioned in disbelief that Damon wanted to have a serious conversation during this mission of theirs to get rid of Klaus. "We're supposed to be looking out for my secret admirer," Emily joked about the hybrid that was after her.
The Salvatore vampire, however, didn't joke back or even answer the human girl's question. Instead, Damon placed his hand into Emily's and put his other one on her upper back before he basically forced the doppelganger to dance with him. The blue eyed vampire relaxed slightly when Emily only rolled her green irises before they slowly began to dance in an awkward silence. However, Damon knew that he just needed to get this conversation over with, so he opened his mouth and swiftly uttered, "I'm sorry."
Emily instantly looked over at the Salvatore vampire instead of letting her eyes roam around the decade dance before she questioned in shock, "you're what?" The human girl didn't even remember a time that Damon had apologized for everything in his life since she's known him, so she was definitely surprised right now.
Damon rolled his blue eyes and grumbled under his breath before he exclaimed, "I'm sorry, okay?" The Salvatore vampire let out a huff before he explained, "I've been meaning to apologize for when I killed Jeremy a few weeks ago when I was upset." Damon watched the human girl's facial expressions before he cautiously confessed, "and I didn't know Jeremy was wearing the Gilbert ring."
The Gilbert girl took her hand off of Damon's shoulder and slapped his chest as she exclaimed, "I knew it!" Emily then closed her eyes and shook her head as she took a deep breath now that she finally heard the truth. It still hurt to be reminded of that memory of watching the vampire snapping her brother's neck but Emily felt like she could breathe now that she heard it come from Damon instead of him lying about it again.
"Thank you for being honest about it," the human doppelganger praised once she opened her eyes and placed her hand back onto the vampire's shoulder. "That's all I ever wanted," Emily murmured to Damon as she hated being lied to. It just made her feel better and she could move on from it. Emily still hated the fact that Damon did kill her baby brother, but the human girl knew that was just their life. Death is unpreventable in Mystic Falls but Emily would gladly kill Damon if it was to happen again.
The Salvatore vampire silently nodded his head as he was pleased that they finally had that all cleared up. Damon then slowly danced with the human girl for a moment or two before he brought up his second topic that he needed to discuss with Emily. "I know you haven't exactly shown your acceptance in mine and Elena's relationship but I want you to know I'm serious about her," the blue eyed vampire truthfully uttered from the caring part of his dead heart, "I'm not just messing around with her. I really do care and love Elena." Damon shook his head before he stated, "I don't want there to be tension between us since we're both dating each other's siblings."
Emily stared into Damon's blue eyes for a moment as she tried to judge if he was telling the truth or not before she let out a groan. "Why do you gotta be all nice and polite now?" The human girl questioned as she knew that she couldn't not accept their relationship now. "I think my sister is changing you," Emily mumbled stubbornly with a small pout. The human doppelganger honestly didn't really have a problem with her sister's relationship. She just liked to make fun of Damon by not taking it seriously since her hatred for the older Salvatore was still showing from the fact that he temporarily killed Jeremy. The human girl only wanted her sister to be happy, so Emily guessed she could be more accepting of it now that she didn't really have an issue with Damon anymore.
"So, are we all good now?" The Salvatore vampire inquired with a smirk on his face from all of the human girl's complaining and groaning before he teased as he twirled Emily underneath his arm, "are we besties yet?" Damon, despite his playful attitude, was quite glad that this talk, that he had been wanting to do for weeks, was finally situated. The Salvatore vampire honestly did it for Elena. He wanted to show her that he could get along with her twin sister, the one person that she loves more than anything, and that he was serious about them.
The Gilbert girl couldn't help but roll her green eyes with a small chuckle once she was face to face with Damon after he twirled her around to the classical song. "Yeah, yeah," Emily mumbled as she carelessly waved her hand before she affirmed the smirking Salvatore's assumption, "we're good."
An even wider smirk lifted onto the Salvatore vampire's face now that he knew everything was peachy with the oldest Gilbert before he stopped their dancing and reached his hand into the pocket of his black slacks. Damon then pulled out a silver flask and shook it in front of the human girl's face with a grin as he exclaimed, "well, I think we need to toast to that!"
"Oh, God," Emily mumbled with another roll of her green eyes at the older Salvatore vampire's childish behavior of them basically becoming friends. "You're such a bad influence," the human girl mumbled before she swiftly swiped the flask of bourbon and secretly downed a shot while she watched out for any teachers.
Emily couldn't help but shake her head in amusement when Damon tossed his arm over her shoulder and lead her through all of the dancing students and towards the back of the wall with the promise of getting drunk with his bestie. The human doppelganger wouldn't lie, though, and say she wasn't enjoying herself with the older Salvatore. Damon was like a fun, older friend that always gets you in trouble but you don't care because you're having fun. He was like Mason for Emily, so she didn't really mind hanging around Damon - despite how annoying and arrogant he can get.
It was about three hours into the sixties decade dance when Emily found herself leaning against the refreshments table next to her baby brother. The human girl had finally escaped the older Salvatore and had visited with Caroline and Matt along with anyone else that tried to talk to her, so Emily was glad that she could finally relax with Jeremy. However, that feeling didn't last too long when Emily's green eyes scanned through the colorful cafeteria, where she spotted her twin sister, best friend, and the older Salvatore having an intense conversation. Emily furrowed her brows at the interaction before she looked over to her silent brother and wondered, "you know what's going on with them?"
Jeremy glanced over in the direction his older sister was looking towards before his body went frozen as he could probably guess what they were talking about. However, as bad as he hated to do it, Jeremy knew that he couldn't tell Emily the truth. So, instead, the younger Gilbert only lifted his shoulders in a shrugging motion and mumbled while he avoided looking into his sister's green eyes that could make anyone roll over, "I have no idea."
Emily frowned as she watched her brother's nervous stance before she turned her green irises back onto the two vampires and the witch. It just didn't make sense to the human girl as she watched her twin sister get all emotional with Bonnie and Damon. The human doppelganger could just feel that something was wrong, so she glanced back up to her brother before she softly asked, "are you sure, Jer? You know you can tell me. I can probably help."
Jeremy avoided his sister's gaze for a moment as he tried to control his own emotions from all this information that he was hiding from the human girl. However, Jeremy couldn't keep up this blasé attitude any longer before he faced Emily and uttered with unshed tears in his brown irises, "that's the problem, Em. You'll easily give your life to fix someone's problem and I'm not going to let you do that."
"Jeremy!" The Gilbert girl shouted as she watched her brother basically stomp away as soon as he had uttered his last word. Emily didn't understand what was happening and she didn't like it. The human girl knew this wasn't about her turning herself to Klaus because that hadn't been brought up in a long time since she agreed to fight. It had to be something else but Emily just couldn't put her finger on it.
"Hey," the younger Salvatore softly uttered and placed his hand lightly onto his girlfriend's shoulder as he had watched the scene unfold between the two Gilbert siblings. "What was that about?" Stefan gently inquired as he rubbed his hand down Emily's lower arm as he offered her some comfort that he knew she needed by the saddened and puzzled expression on her face.
Emily glanced up at her caring boyfriend with her brows deeply furrowed. "I-I'm not sure," the human girl mumbled before she watched as her brother stomped his way through an empty hallway. "Can you go check on him?" Emily asked the Salvatore vampire with a pleading smile before she murmured, "I don't know what's wrong but I don't want him wondering around alone."
Stefan nodded his head in understand and murmured, "of course." The Salvatore vampire placed a sweet kiss onto the human girl's lips before he told her as he glanced over Emily's shoulder, "go join Caroline and I'll be back as soon as I can." Stefan still didn't want Emily to be alone, despite the fact that Klaus hadn't shown himself in hours, as he knew she would at least be safe with a vampire or a witch by her side.
"Okay," Emily murmured in agreement and placed one last kiss onto her boyfriend's soft lips as she knew Stefan was just worried about her safety like she was with all of them before the Gilbert girl silently turned around and headed towards her best friend, who was leaning against the wall while she spoke to a couple of their fellow cheerleaders.
The Salvatore vampire waited until the human girl was in front of the Forbes vampire and gave Caroline a small nod to watch Emily before Stefan headed towards the way that he saw the youngest Gilbert head in. Stefan only had to walk through two hallways before he finally spotted Jeremy dragging his feet across the grey floors. "Jeremy!" Stefan shouted to get the human's attention before he jogged up to the teenager. "Where are you going?" The Salvatore vampire questioned once he was in front of Jeremy before he told him to hopefully convince the human boy to come back into the dance, "Emily wants us to stick into pairs or more. You can't go off on your own right now."
Jeremy silently nodded his head as he anxiously ran his fingers through his messy brunette hair before he mumbled, "yeah, I know." The younger Gilbert raised up his left hand to show the vampire his family spelled ring as he exclaimed, "I'll be fine. I got this to keep going." Jeremy then finally let all his emotions show as he couldn't keep up the lie anymore as he murmured with sadness in his voice, "i-it's not me we should be worried about. I-It's Bonnie."
Stefan furrowed his brows as he watched the conflict flashing all over the younger Gilbert's face before he gently inquired, "what's going on?" However, when Jeremy decided to close up on him after finally talking about what's on his mind by avoiding his green eyes and going silent, the Salvatore vampire spoke in a louder voice to hopefully get the teenager to talk, "hey, come on, Jeremy. You got Emily worried. What's happening with Bonnie?"
Jeremy let out a shaky deep breath as he nervously played with his Gilbert ring before he finally looked into Stefan's green eyes and confessed about what he learned yesterday and about the thing that had been plaguing his thoughts all night, "if Bonnie takes on Klaus and she channels on that energy, it's going to kill her."
The Salvatore vampire's green irises widened in shock at the new information that the Bennett witch never mentioned during their plan to get rid of Klaus before he gaped, "what?" Stefan had never expected that all the powers from the hundred of dead witches could possibly harm Bonnie.
The younger Gilbert silently nodded his head with tears trying to push their way through his brown eyes but he quickly pushed them away as he cleared his throat and glanced up at the dull ceiling in the dark hallway. "Bonnie didn't say anything because she knows, like we all do, that Emily will go back to giving herself over to Klaus when she finds out that one of us could get hurt," Jeremy explained why the Bennett witch didn't say anything before he murmured helplessly with glazed over eyes, "I-I didn't know what to do."
Stefan couldn't believe what he was hearing. He thought they were going to end this but now that he knew that Bonnie was going to do it even if it killed her, it changed a lot of things - starting with his girlfriend. "You know I have to tell Emily, right?" The Salvatore vampire uttered to the emotional Jeremy before he stated, "she would hate us if she finds out we didn't tell her when we could have stopped Bonnie from doing something so reckless."
Stefan wanted Klaus gone as much as the rest of them but he just couldn't allow Bonnie to do this to herself. He knew Emily wouldn't forgive him if he didn't tell her about this. Stefan just prayed that Emily didn't do anything reckless either like offering herself to Klaus. They just needed to scrap this plan as soon as possible and get out of here now that their plan was definitely not happening. They could not allow Bonnie, their friend, to do this. They would just have to come up with a different plan to keep Emily and everyone else alive.
Jeremy released a heavy sigh before he mumbled as he anxiously ran his fingers through his messy brunette hair, "yeah, I know." The human teenager knew Bonnie might be pissed at him when she finds out that he told Stefan, who's going to tell the one person that Bonnie didn't want to know but Jeremy didn't care as long as Bonnie and his sister were alive as that was all he cared about right now.
The Salvatore vampire squeezed the emotional teenager's shoulder and softly told Jeremy to assure him that, hopefully, nothing would happen to either girl, "we'll figure this out." Stefan then gave Jeremy one last assuring look before he swiftly took off back towards the cafeteria to find the human doppelganger.
It took the younger Salvatore a few minutes before his green irises finally locked onto the girl in the red dress laughing with the blonde vampire. Stefan quickly moved through the dancing students and quickly wrapped his hand around Emily's waist before he told Caroline, "we'll be right back." The Salvatore vampire then pulled Emily with him as he fast walked down an empty hallway before he pulled her into an empty classroom.
"Hey," Emily softly uttered once they finally stopped moving and she looked over at the anxious looking vampire, who was pacing in front of a chalkboard. "Did you find out what's going on?" The human girl nervously whispered as she could feel the strong emotion that she was right and something is definitely wrong.
The Salvatore vampire anxiously ran his fingers through his now messy brunette hair like Jeremy had done only minutes ago before he swiftly walked in front of his girlfriend and gently began to rub her exposed lower arm to hopefully keep her calm. "If Bonnie does the spell to kill Klaus, it's going to kill her, too," Stefan bluntly confessed as they didn't have time to sugar coat it when the moment could happen any second now.
The Gilbert girl swiftly placed her hands over her lips with her green eyes widened in shock. "Oh, my God," Emily gaped as she couldn't believe that Bonnie hid this from them. "W-We have to stop this," the human doppelganger quickly exclaimed with a frantic shake of her head, "we need to call this all off. There is no way I'm letting Bonnie die."
"I know. I know," Stefan softly uttered as he pulled the emotional human girl into his arms and placed a gentle kiss onto her forehead. "I came and told you because I didn't want you to be out of the loop or hide anything," the Salvatore vampire told Emily before he muttered as he knew it wasn't a good idea to stick around when they weren't willing to let Bonnie die, "we can leave when you're ready."
Emily silently nodded her head against her boyfriend's chest before she pulled away after a moment and stated, "I need to talk to Bonnie, so you can grab everyone while I go talk to her then we can get the hell out of here." Emily wanted to know what in the world her best friend was thinking about getting herself killed and talk some sense into her. It would be a cold day in hell before Emily was going to allow anyone to die for her. There was no way. Emily would gladly do it for her family and friends but that didn't mean she was just going to allow someone to die for her when this whole Klaus thing is because of her.
Stefan hugged the human girl into his chest for a few silent minutes as he waited for Emily to calm her fast beating heart rate before the couple walked out of the empty classroom and down the dark hallway while they held hands. The Salvatore vampire then placed a kiss onto Emily's lips once they reached the cafeteria before he told her, "go straight to Bonnie and I'll meet you in a few minutes."
The Gilbert girl squeezed her boyfriend's hand to let him know that she would be okay and whispered, "love you," before she quickly began her search for the Bennett witch that had some explaining to do. So, Emily searched all through the decade dance for the teenager in the orange and red dress but she was coming up empty. The human girl knew there could only be one place left that Bonnie could be, so Emily headed towards the entrance of the cafeteria and opened the door, where she instantly spotted her twin sister and the Bennett witch laughing together.
Emily quickly walked up to the two supernatural beings with an emotionless face before her green eyes instantly showed the sadness that she really felt. "Why didn't you tell me, Bonnie?" The Gilbert girl questioned in a small murmur before she shook her head in disbelief as anger took over her emotions, "what are you thinking? This was not part of the plan!"
Bonnie and Elena glanced at each other as they silently conversed before the Bennett witch let out a heavy sigh and faced the human doppelganger. "I knew this would be your response, Emily, if we told you the truth," the brown eyed teenager uttered as everyone knows that Emily would try to fix it on her own without caring about the consequences.
Emily swiftly glanced over to her twin sister, who didn't look the least bit shocked, when Bonnie mentioned 'we'. "So, you know, too?" The human girl asked Elena before she let out a humorless laugh when her sister silently nodded her head and muttered, "am I the only one that didn't know this?" Emily then quickly focused back onto the issue at hand before she told the Bennett witch, "we're leaving. I can't and won't let you do this, Bonnie."
"Emily," the Bennett witch softly uttered as she tried to reason with the human girl before she murmured, "it's the only option we have to finally get rid of Klaus like we want." Bonnie then glanced over to the Gilbert vampire beside her when Emily began to frantically shake her head and gave Elena a meaningful look, so hopefully the young vampire could get Emily to see that this is their best choice right now.
The Gilbert vampire immediately caught Bonnie's silent plea before she walked the few steps towards her twin sister and placed a light hand onto Emily's shoulder. "Emmie, she has this," Elena stated with complete confidence in her voice before she took a quick glance over to Bonnie and explained what she learned earlier tonight as she hoped it would calm her sister down, "and we aren't even sure if it will kill Bonnie. There is only a small chance that the witch spirits are right."
Emily looked at her twin sister like Elena finally grew a second head. "Are you serious right now, Elena?" The human girl gaped before she swiftly shook her head and exclaimed, "I am sure as hell not willing to go against hundreds of witches!" Emily would rather trust all those witches from the past than to take the chance on her best friend's life. "We will just come up with another plan," the human girl muttered as she completely moved away from Bonnie's plan.
"Like what?" The Gilbert vampire interrogated as she crossed her arms over her purple dress while she stared across at her twin sister before she continued, "offer yourself again?" Elena quickly shook her head as she knew her sister would do exactly that if she knew that she could keep everyone safe. "No," the young vampire told Emily before she stated, "if Bonnie thinks she can do this, then I believe her." Elena then gave her twin sister a furrowed look as she murmured, "like you did earlier tonight."
"That was before I knew she was going to die!" The Gilbert girl shouted as she couldn't believe her twin sister was still on board with this plan after knowing what would happen to Bonnie. It just didn't make sense to Emily why Elena would still think it's the right decision when Bonnie could die. Emily honestly didn't know what the hell her sister was thinking, so she turned her attention onto Bonnie to hopefully convince her this was the wrong call. "Look, let's just call it a night and regroup with a safer idea," the Gilbert girl told the Bennett witch before she seriously exclaimed as she glanced between the two teenagers, "because I am not willing to let anyone else get put into danger because of me."
Bonnie shook her head with a sad smile and unshed tears in her brown eyes before she brought her hands to tightly grip around the human girl's wrists and frantically exclaimed, "I have the power to save you!" The Bennett witch then briefly closed her eyes as she tried to push away the tears before she told Emily with heartbreak clearly shown throughout her voice, "and if I don't use it and something happens, that would kill me more."
The Gilbert girl released a shaky breath as she stared into her best friend's brown eyes with tears in her green ones for a moment or two before Emily whispered, "I'm sorry, Bonnie, but I can't let you do it." Emily just couldn't let Bonnie basically sacrifice herself. It would haunt her forever and it was against everything Emily had tried to do her whole life and that is to protect the people around her no matter what.
Bonnie let out a low sigh as she knew Emily wasn't going to change her mind about this. The Bennett witch then thought of one last plan, so she took a deep breath before she asked the human doppelganger, "just answer one question... if the situation was reversed, would you do it for me?"
"Yes," the Gilbert girl immediately answered without even a second thought as she murmured, "I would do whatever it took to keep you alive." Emily really wished she hadn't answered the question, though, as she knew it was exactly what Bonnie wanted to hear from her. However, no matter the fact that she would do the same for Bonnie, the human girl still wasn't going to let her best friend do this. She would fight or die trying before she would allow Bonnie to kill herself by trying to save her.
The Bennett witch gave Emily a small sad smile as she squeezed the human girl's hand before she stated in a broken voice, "so, you know why I have to." Bonnie knew that the Gilbert girl would do the exact same thing that she was currently trying to do. It was one of the reasons why Bonnie loved Emily so much, so it was time that she returned the favor.
Emily could only stare across at her best friend as she repeatedly shook her head. It was like no words could express how the human girl was feeling with this continuous back and forth before her, Bonnie, and a little bit from her twin sister. It was like nothing Emily could say would change the Bennett witch's mind which broke the human girl every time Bonnie mentioned going towards her death by killing Klaus.
The Gilbert girl hated that Bonnie was willing to sacrifice her life and her future for the spell. Emily had always been the one to protect everyone from danger and keep them safe - from as small as a broken arm when they were children to as big as a murderous hybrid. The human doppelganger would feel like she's failing at her job if she lets Bonnie go through with her suicide plan even though Emily would gladly do it herself. It was just how she always has been. She would rather be the one taking the fall than let someone else do it for her.
The biggest factor in all of this, though, would be the fact that Klaus wants her and no one else. Klaus needs a human Petrova doppelganger. Emily is the only one left - since Katherine's been a vampire for centuries and Elena was a recently turned into one. So, it would absolutely kill Emily if Bonnie died when Klaus only needs her. There was no point in any of her loved ones also getting harmed, in Emily's opinion, since she is the way to break the hybrid's curse, so Emily was not going to back down against the Bennett witch anytime soon when she could save Bonnie from her death.
The Gilbert girl opened her mouth after a few minutes of her thoughts running through her mind in hyper speed as she wasn't giving up just yet to convince Bonnie to just leave the decade dance and think of a better plan. However, though, before Emily could even begin to work on her mission in stopping the Bennett witch, the three emotional teenagers were interrupted when the door to the cafeteria was slammed open and the loud, frantic voice of the local vampire hunter and history teacher called out, "Elena! Emily!"
The Gilbert sisters immediately turned their heads when they heard their names come out of Ric but the young vampire was the first one to speak. "What is it?" Elena quickly questioned Klaus/Alaric with her dark brows furrowed as she was instantly worried that someone had gotten hurt inside the decade dance.
Klaus/Alaric leaned over his knees as he tried to catch his breath from his human body before he stood up straight and glanced at each worried face. The hybrid in the human body enjoyed the distress he was causing with an invisible smirk playing across his lips before he finally explained with a fake panic look, "he has Jeremy."
The human doppelganger immediately rolled her green eyes, despite the fact that her brother could be in danger, as she just couldn't believe their luck tonight with their plan to get rid of Klaus slowly falling apart. "Of course he does," Emily exclaimed as she threw her hands into the air before she mumbled in annoyance, "that stupid ass hybrid just couldn't leave my family alone." The human girl was honestly just tired of all the people in her life getting put in danger because of the hybrid, so Emily was just about at her breaking point.
However, no one really reacted to the human doppelganger's annoyed voice. Well, except for Klaus/Alaric, who turned his now hard blue eyes onto the Petrova descendant with a glare when she started talking about him. But thankfully for the hybrid, no one noticed the anger on his face as the Gilbert vampire and the Bennett witch worriedly shouted in unison, "what!?"
Klaus/Alaric turned his blue eyes back to one filled with concern once he took his gaze off of the human girl before he quickly nodded his head, "yeah, Klaus has Jeremy." The hybrid in the human's body then quickly opened the door to the cafeteria and told the three teenagers, "come on."
The Gilbert twins and the Bennett witch didn't need to be told twice before they instantly entered back into the decade dance as soon as the history teacher mentioned the name of the hybrid as it all became so real to them. They weren't thinking about their previous argument or coming up with another plan to get rid of Klaus since Jeremy was in danger. The only thing that mattered at the moment was getting the youngest Gilbert to safety.
The three teenagers had quickly pushed their way through all of the dancing students before they followed after Klaus/Alaric as he led them through a dark hallway. However, when the history teacher and vampire hunter just kept turning at random points for over five minutes, the Gilbert vampire was the first one to question it. "So, where are you taking us?" Elena worriedly inquired as she was growing more concerned for her brother's safety as the seconds ticked by.
Klaus/Alaric lightly waved his right hand as he kept leading the teenagers further and further into Mystic Falls High School as he muttered, "just a little further."
The human doppelganger couldn't help but furrow her brows when she realized that they passed Mrs. Irving's English classroom over three times already. Emily knew Alaric knows his way around the school since he's been here for months, so it didn't make sense for why they were going in circles.
"Wait..." The Gilbert vampire mumbled as she glanced over to her twin sister and best friend as she had the same idea as the human girl. "Something's not right," Elena mumbled as she slowly came to a stop in the middle of the hallway while she kept her eyes glued to the back of the vampire hunter.
Emily couldn't help but feel a wave of emotions as she also stared at the local vampire hunter. It was like a rush of amusement, power, and anger was hitting her all at once, so Emily quickly grabbed ahold of Bonnie's and twin sister's hand to keep them in place as she didn't like the feeling that she was getting. Emily knew that she usually gets this feeling when something bad was going to happen, so she knew that they needed to be extremely cautious until they figured out what is wrong. "Ric..." The human girl slowly called out as she tried to piece everything together.
"Where's Jeremy?" The Bennett witch frowned as she glanced over at the Gilbert vampire and human girl in confusion as she didn't understand what was happening. She didn't understand why Klaus/Alaric hadn't taken them to Jeremy yet or why the twins had gotten rigid and tense all of a sudden.
However, Klaus/Alaric didn't respond to either of the three girls's statements as he slowly came to a stop with a loud and abnormal chuckle escaping his lips. The hybrid in the human body slowly twirled around in his black dress shoes to face the human and the two supernatural beings before he exclaimed, "I just had to get away from that dance." Klaus/Alaric rolled his blue eyes as he complained, "the sixties, ugh, not my decade." The hybrid held out his arms with another chuckle before he asked no one in particular, "I mean, whose call was that, anyway?" Klaus/Alaric swiftly shook his head before he commented, "I much prefer the twenties. The style, the parties, the jazz."
"Alaric," the Gilbert vampire carefully uttered before she cautiously asked her history teacher, "are you being compelled?" Elena could tell that something just wasn't right when the vampire hunter. Alaric would never talk like that, so Elena could only guess that he was being compelled by a vampire.
Emily quickly shook her head at her twin sister's assumption before she murmured, "no, he's not." The Gilbert girl then released the vampire and the witch's hands and slowly took a step towards the supposedly history teacher and vampire hunter as she let all of the emotions take over her body from the power and the cockiness that didn't match Alaric's personality.
Emily took a shaky deep breath once she connected all of the dots but tried to control the frightfulness that she felt as best as she could. "I should of known it was you," the human girl mumbled with an emotionless chuckle. "I noticed it in class today but I didn't feel it until you walked into the boarding house," Emily continued as she took another step towards the man that wants her before she explained, "I could feel your emotions like I am now."
A smirk slowly worked it's way onto the human man's face as he also took a step closer to the human girl, who was a lot smarter than the other two, until there was barely any space between them. "Tell me," Klaus/Alaric commanded in a whisper before he brought his hand to grip Emily's chin, "tell them who I am."
The human girl took a large swallow of the tense air around them while she ignored the whispers coming from her twin sister and best friend, who were begging her to step and come back to them. Instead, she stared the devil right in the eye as she loudly uttered his name without even flinching at his hard hold on her face, "Klaus."
A large grin instantly lifted onto Klaus/Alaric's face when the human girl said his name before he exclaimed as he stared right into her familiar green eyes, "surprise!" The hybrid in the human's body let out a deep chuckle before he told Emily, "I knew you were the smart one, my little doppelganger."
The Gilbert vampire's brown eyes immediately widened when she heard Emily utter the hybrid's name before she swiftly vamp sped and grabbed ahold of her twin sister. Elena vamp sped the human girl back towards Bonnie and stopped when she placed her very human twin sister behind the Bennett witch to keep her safe. The Gilbert vampire then faced the hybrid with a glare in her brown irises before she commanded, "do not come any closer."
The human doppelganger quickly stepped around Bonnie and avoided her grasp when she heard her twin sister basically ordering the oldest and dangerous creature in existence as she felt the need to protect her twin as she recalled the story of the death of the Petrova family. Emily then moved to stand beside Elena before she told the hybrid in a strong voice while she tried to keep standing straight when Elena grabbed ahold of her arm to pull her away, "leave my family alone, Klaus. You want me." The human girl took a step closer towards Klaus with her sister basically attached to her before she continued, "take me and let them go. You don't have to hurt anyone that's not involved in this."
Klaus/Alaric let out a heavy chuckle as he watched the protective girl, who reminded him of the pesky Darina Petrova, before he shook his head. "Sorry, sweetheart," the hybrid apologized with no real emotion in his voice before he told his doppelganger as he had someone else that he needed to deal with first, "it's not your time yet." Klaus/Alaric then turned his glare over to the Bennett girl as he exclaimed, "but, you, witch. You are on my hit list tonight."
The hybrid stared at the witch that would most likely cause him problems during the sacrifice before he swiftly charged towards her. However, before the human body could even take two full steps, Bonnie thrusted her arm out as she walked in front of the Gilbert twins - which caused for the hybrid to be thrown harshly against the wall.
Klaus/Alaric let out a heavy groan when his body hit the front of the grey, steel lockers before he rolled onto his hands and knees and slowly began to stand up from the ground. The hybrid let out a chuckle when he saw the shocked expressions of the teenagers's faces before inquired with a smirk, "now, did I mention that I knew a witch?" Klaus/Alaric then held out his arms like he was challenging the Bennett girl before he exclaimed, "you're gonna have to hit me a lot harder than that."
The hybrid in the human's body took a deep breath to ready himself before he, once again, ran directly towards the witch. But, of course, Klaus/Alaric was stopped once again when the witch threw out her hand - which caused the angry hybrid to crash into a trophy display case before he was engrossed in shards of glass.
Klaus/Alaric instantly let out a deep and throaty laugh once his body bounced onto the hard ground while he tried to catch his human breathing before he slowly worked his way into a standing position. "By all means... fire away!" The hybrid told the Bennett witch with a wide grin before he let the witch on a little secret, "if you kill this body, I'll just get a new one." Klaus/Alaric lightly shrugged his shoulders while he dusted off the glass before he shot the Gilbert twins a wink as he uttered thoughtfully, "maybe I'll use Jeremy."
The Bennett witch didn't even want to think of the possibility of Klaus inside of Jeremy's body, so she glared across at the hybrid while she hurriedly told the sisters behind her, "go, run." Bonnie quickly grabbed ahold of both Emily and Elena's hands when Klaus started to move towards them before she shouted as she pulled them down the hallway, "run!"
The three girls ran as fast as they could since Elena couldn't exactly use her speed with both her sister and best friend. The Bennett witch then closed the blue metal doors with her powers once they turned the corner to hopefully slow down the hybrid. The human, the vampire, and the witch slowly came to a stop to catch their breaths while they stared at the locked door before they were spooked by a voice from behind them.
"What happened?" The older Salvatore swiftly interrogated when he saw the nervous and anxious looks on the three girls's faces before he swiftly pulled his girlfriend into his chest. Damon placed a kiss onto Elena's forehead as he tried to comfort her before he looked down into her brown eyes as he tried to figure out what the hell just happened.
Elena took a deep breath as she tried to control the feeling of being around the hybrid for the first time before she hurriedly told Damon in a rushed and confused voice, "Klaus is in Alaric's body." The Gilbert vampire then pushed herself out of her boyfriend's arms before she rushed and pulled her twin sister into her chest. Elena just felt if she let Emily out of her sight that Klaus was going to take her from him, so she didn't plan on letting go anytime soon.
Damon's blue eyes widened in surprise before he gaped, "what?" The older Salvatore had never even heard of the possibility for a vampire to take over someone else's body, so Damon was definitely shocked at what his girlfriend told him.
"It's like he's possessing it or something," the Bennett witch quickly told the vampire. Bonnie honestly didn't even know for sure if that was what Klaus was doing but it was the only thing that she could think of.
"I'm so stupid," Emily mumbled as she pulled herself out of her twin sister's strong hold when the hallway grew silent. The human girl let out a humorless chuckle before she scolded herself, "I could feel something was off with Ric all damn day. I should of known Klaus was behind this." Emily couldn't believe that she didn't realize that Alaric's strange attitude and the anger that she felt could have been Klaus related. It just never crossed her mind when they were getting ready for the feared hybrid.
"Hey," the Gilbert vampire softly uttered as she gently placed her hand onto her twin sister's slumped shoulder. "You couldn't have known," Elena murmured as she tried to comfort the human girl by pulling her into a tight hug before Elena stated with a shake of her head, "he had us all fooled."
The older Salvatore watched the Gilbert twins for a moment before he and Bonnie shared a look that told Damon exactly what they needed to do, so Damon walked up to his girlfriend and her sister before he pressed his hand onto Emily's back to get her attention. Damon waited until the human girl turned around and faced him before he commanded, "you need to go find Stefan right now."
The human doppelganger, however, instantly shook her head in disagreement before she exclaimed, "hell no." Emily glanced at the two vampires and the Bennett witch before she stated as she, once again, frantically shook her head, "I'm not leaving when Bonnie could get killed from using too much of her powers. No way in hell."
The Gilbert vampire placed her hand onto her twin sister's shoulder to get the erratic human girl's attention before she gave Emily a small smile. "If Bonnie starts to show any signs of death, I will get her out of here," Elena promised before she held out her pinky finger to show her twin that she wasn't lying.
Emily glanced between the two vampires and the Bennett witch as she bit down on her bottom lip while she tried to decide what to do. The human girl didn't want to leave her friends and sister alone with Klaus heading their way as it was her job to protect everyone. However, on the other hand, Emily knew that she needed to grab Stefan, so they could escape from the hybrid. Emily knew she couldn't be in two places at once, so she decided to trust her twin sister, who never lies to her, as she linked their pinkies together and murmured, "okay."
"Go," the older Salvatore vampire encouraged the human girl after he glanced over to the Bennett witch, who gave him a nod to let him know that she was still going to go through with their plan, before he placed his hand onto Emily's back and pushed her towards the other direction, "now!"
Emily gave the Salvatore vampire a quick nod before she moved her green irises over to Bonnie and told her, "be careful." The human girl then swiftly turned around and jogged her way down the hallway as fast as she could so she could get Stefan in time before something bad happens. However, Emily's plan was turning out badly as she couldn't find her boyfriend anywhere once she reached the decade dance. It was like every face was blending and she couldn't even recognize anyone.
"Hey!" A voice suddenly called out from behind the human doppelganger - which immediately caused Emily to turn around and see her blonde best friend and Matt Donovan. "There you are," Caroline exclaimed with a large grin spread across her lips before she uttered, "I was wondering when you would..." However, though, before Caroline could utter a full sentence, she finally noticed the concerned look on Emily's face, so she quickly turned her statement into a question as she worriedly asked, "hey, what's wrong?"
The Gilbert girl was like in a different world as she barely even heard anything come out of her best friend's mouth while she continued to search through all of the dancing humans for her vampire boyfriend. Emily loves Caroline like her own sister but she just couldn't be bothered to listen to anything as she needed to find Stefan right now, so the human girl didn't respond to the blonde vampire as her green eyes continued to look for the younger Salvatore.
"Hey!" Caroline shouted over the loud music as she swiftly latched her hand tightly around Emily's upper arm. "You can talk to me," the blonde vampire murmured with her blue eyes furrowed as she didn't understand what would cause her best friend to be so stressed out right now when she was supposed to be having fun at the decade dance.
Emily, finally, connected her green eyes onto her best friend when Caroline stopped her from moving before she noticed the Donovan human standing behind her. "Um," the doppelganger mumbled as she tried to think of what to tell her best friend without revealing too much before she stated, "I-I just have to find Stefan to help me with something." Emily then gave Caroline a pointed look before she ordered, "just stay here with Matt where it's safe."
The Gilbert girl then swiftly turned away, before either blonde could say anything, as she finally saw her boyfriend running towards her. Emily grabbed ahold of Stefan's hand when they met in the middle before she swiftly began to pull the vampire in the direction that she had originally came from. Emily pushed their way through all the dancing and oblivious humans before she and Stefan finally entered the silent hallways.
"Bonnie is trying to kill Klaus right now," the Gilbert girl quickly explained to her boyfriend about what was happening while they continued to run through all the different hallways to find the Bennett witch. However, just as the human girl and the Salvatore vampire rounded the corner, they ran right into their siblings.
"I see you finally found my brother," the older Salvatore vampire exclaimed with a small grin on his lips to the human doppelganger when he noticed the aforementioned Gilbert girl and Stefan in the dark hallway.
Emily instantly came to a sliding stop when she noticed Damon and her twin sister walking around when they were supposed to be watching the Bennett witch. "What the hell!" The human girl gaped as she swiftly glanced between the two vampires before she turned a glare towards her twin sister. "You are supposed to be keeping her safe!" Emily shouted before she angrily pushed onto Elena's chest.
The Gilbert vampire didn't move or flinch at her twin sister's anger or touch. Instead, Elena only told the human girl the answer that she and Damon had to tell Emily and Stefan, no matter how much she hates to do so, "I'm right where I'm supposed to be and Bonnie is doing what she has to do, Emmie." The Gilbert vampire hated this plan so much but she would rather her twin sister be pissed at her than have Emily and Bonnie permanently dead.
"She's our best friend!" Emily continued to shout at her twin sister in disbelief that Elena would actually allow Bonnie to die. "What the hell is wrong with you!" The human doppelganger cried out as she looked at her twin sister with betrayal and heartbreak in her green irises.
"Where is she!?" The younger Salvatore interrogated while his green eyes frantically glanced between his brother and his close friend as he tried to figure out where the Bennett witch was. Stefan was not going to allow Bonnie to be killed by Klaus - unlike Damon and Elena apparently are.
"Stefan, let her do this," the older Salvatore commanded his brother in a extremely calm voice while he crossed his arms over his black dress shirt and leaned against a row of gray lockers.
The younger Salvatore growled under his breath as he was growing tired of Damon and Elena's games of not giving them a straight answer before he swiftly walked up to his brother and interrogated angrily, "damn it, Damon, where is she!?"
"Elena," the human girl slowly breathed out as she tried to control her anger as she only cared about finding Bonnie and getting her the hell out of here before she muttered, "if you even care a little bit about our best friend then you will tell us where she is right now." Emily could be pissed later. She just wanted to get her best friend away from Klaus before she ended up dead.
The Gilbert vampire bit down on her bottom lip as she stared across at her saddened sister with conflict in her brown eyes before she glanced over to her boyfriend, who was silently shaking his head. Elena knew that there was nothing they could do anyways to help Bonnie, so the Gilbert vampire closed her eyes with emotions all over her body stance before she whispered the location, "they're in the smaller cafeteria."
The Gilbert girl barley even gave her twin sister a second glance after she finally got her answer before she was rushing down the hallways with footsteps behind her as she ran like her own life was in danger. Emily only cared about getting Bonnie out of this mess that was because of her and her doppelganger-ness.
Finally, after a few minutes of running down three or four hallways, Emily reached the smaller cafeteria with Stefan and her twin sister on either side of her, where they took in the destruction. There were flyers flying all over the room with tables flipped over and glass spraying across everything. However, but the one thing that mattered to Emily was the Bennett witch facing her with a look of determination on her face.
Emily's green eyes immediately widened as she realized what the Bennett witch was about to do before she swiftly shouted while she tried to enter the cafeteria, "Bonnie, don't do this!" But, sadly, the Bennett witch didn't listen to the human girl as she lifted her arm and locked the doors so no one could stop her.
The human doppelganger quickly began to beat her fists onto the glass window of the wooden door as she shouted to stop her best friend. But when Emily saw that wasn't working, she tried her original plan that she came up with alone before they left the boarding house. "Klaus!" The human girl shouted before she yelled, "you can have me! Come on! You can't end your curse if you don't have me! Take me, you coward!"
However, unluckily for the human girl, the Bennett witch and the hybrid both ignored Emily's pleas as they were both determined to end one other. Bonnie stared across at Klaus/Alaric with blood dripping down her nose before she swiftly twisted her hand - which caused the human body of the vampire hunter's left knee to twist in an awkward position. The Bennett witch then lifted her other hand and did the same as she tried to kill the hybrid. The power in the Bennett witch's body, though, was causing the lighting from above them to burst into a shower of sparks as the dead witches's magic began to exit out of her body.
"Please, Bonnie!" The human doppelganger shouted through the small glass window as she knew Bonnie was going to get herself killed, "you don't have to do this! There's always another way!" Emily felt so helpless as she watched her best friend use up all that magic that would be her demise. I can't do nothing, the human girl thought before she swiftly began to pull at the door handle, along with Stefan, as she prayed it would just open.
The door wouldn't even budge for Emily, so she looked back up as she decided to just talk to Bonnie, but was surprised to find the aforementioned witch was already staring at her. Bonnie gave the human girl a small smile and mouthed, 'I'm sorry,' before she faced Klaus/Alaric just as he was getting up from the ground. The Bennett witch gave the hybrid one last glare as everything around them began to explode before her body suddenly jerked to the side and Bonnie fell to the ground.
"BONNIE!" The human girl screamed out in agony as soon as she saw her best friend's body drop. Emily quickly pushed onto the door, which immediately opened for her, before she rushed towards Bonnie. The human doppelganger dropped to her knees as she ignored everything around her before she placed her hand against the Bennett witch's chest.
"Oh, God," Emily sobbed when she couldn't feel anything. However, Emily just wouldn't allow herself to believe it, so she grabbed ahold of Bonnie's limp arm and pulled her onto her lap as she begged with tears falling down her stained cheeks, "come on, Bon Bon. You need to open those beautiful brown eyes for me." Emily pushed Bonnie's hair behind her ear with a sad smile as she continued to beg in a whisper, "come on. We need to go, Bonnie. Come on, please. Please."
"Emmie," the soft and heartbroken voice of Elena Gilbert whispered as she placed her shaky hand onto her sister's shoulder before she whispered, "she's gone." The Gilbert vampire knew Bonnie wasn't actually dead but it still hurt so much to see her best friend dead and her twin sister breaking down in front of her. It broke Elena's heart so much.
The emotional human girl swiftly pushed her twin sister's hand off of her as she felt in her frantic state that this was Elena's fault and partly her own for not doing a better job of making sure Bonnie didn't end up like this. "Don't touch me!" Emily yelled out with betrayal and heartbreak in her voice before she focused back onto her best friend with tears in her green irises. "Come on, Bonnie," the human girl shakily begged, "you gotta come back. Please! You weren't supposed to die! Please, Bonnie. I-I-I need you to come back. Please!"
The Gilbert vampire wiped a tear that was trailing down her face as she watched the scene in front of her before she took a glance over to the younger Salvatore, where she saw the same sadness that she was feeling while Stefan stared down at his girlfriend. Elena then turned back to her twin sister with a small sigh before she slowly bent down to the ground and pulled Emily away from Bonnie's body as she knew that the human girl was just destroying herself right now.
"Let me go!" Emily immediately shouted when she didn't feel Bonnie's warm touch before she began to push against Elena's arms and chest. "I need to save Bonnie!" The human girl exclaimed with tears falling down her face and down her neck - despite the fact that she knew that she couldn't do a damn thing. Emily just felt like she had to try to help Bonnie or she would just completely breakdown.
"Shhh," Elena whispered as she squeezed her arms around her twin sister's waist while she let Emily push against her as much as the human girl needed. "Focus on your breathing," the Gilbert vampire softly ordered as she was afraid her twin was going to have a panic attack right now from all this stress, "you're okay." Elena knew that there was nothing that she could do to make this better at the moment, so she just tried her hardest to comfort her twin as much as she can.
"B-Bonnie's dead," Emily whispered as she finally stopped fighting her sister's embrace and her body went limp in Elena's arms, "I-I'm not okay. S-She's gone." The human doppelganger then just let out all the tears that was left like if a dam was opened while she sobbed into her twin sister's chest at the lost of her best friend.
The only thing that could be heard in the small cafeteria was the sound of the heartbreaking sobs coming out of the human girl and the soft whispers from the Gilbert vampire before the sadness was interrupted when loud footsteps came into the room. The younger Salvatore was the one to swiftly look at the entrance, where he noticed his brother.
The older Salvatore stared at the scene in front of him with the dead witch on the ground and his girlfriend comforting her sister before Damon turned his attention onto his brother. "Stefan, get Emily out of here," Damon commanded in an emotionless voice before he stated, "I'll deal with the body."
Emily's body immediately went rigid when she heard Damon's words before she stopped sobbing into her sister's chest and slowly pulled herself to her shaky feet. The Gilbert girl then silently walked up to the older Salvatore while everyone cautiously watched her before Emily pointed at him with tears still trailing down her face and growled, "touch Bonnie and I will kill you, Salvatore."
The threatened Salvatore, however, ignored the emotional human girl as she pushed on his chest and took out her anger on him before Damon looked over Emily's shoulder and commanded his brother in a bored tone, "take her home now."
Stefan didn't say anything. He just got up from his crouched position in front of the deceased witch before he silently walked over to his girlfriend. The younger Salvatore then wrapped his cold arms around Emily's waist and pulled her away from her continuous assault on Damon before he turned the human girl around in his arms. Stefan let out a small sigh as he rubbed his hands up and down Emily's back as he tried to comfort her as best as he could after losing her best friend.
"Hey, I got you," Stefan softly uttered as he could feel Emily sobbing into his chest. It broke Stefan's heart to see this happening to the always strong human girl and the fact that he couldn't do anything to fix it or make her feel better. "Shhh," the Salvatore vampire cooed as he tried his best to make Emily feel better before he whispered, "it's okay. I got you."
The human doppelganger continued to sob into her boyfriend's chest as Stefan pulled her to the side of his body before he slowly began to lead her to the door of the small cafeteria. However, when Emily glanced over her shoulder at Bonnie on the ground, another round of tears fell down the human girl's face as she wailed and rambled as she just couldn't accept what happened tonight, "Bonnie, no! It wasn't supposed to be you! Bonnie, please. No, no, no, no! P-Please come back!"
The three vampires hearts absolutely broke at the sight in front of them as they watched the human girl crumble to the ground by the deceased witch. Damon had a hint of regret in his blue irises as he wished Emily didn't have to go through this - even though it was to fool the hybrid. Elena just wanted her twin sister in her arms and explain everything to her but couldn't because of the hold Damon had on her. However, ultimately, it was the younger Salvatore that had immediately took action as he swept Emily off the ground and held her in a bridal position. Stefan then gave his brother and Elena a small nod before he began to whisper comforting words into Emily's ear as he carried the sobbing girl out of the cafeteria and down the dark hallways to take her home.
SALVATORE BOARDING HOUSE
The emotional human doppelganger stared her glazed over green eyes at the roaring fire in front of her while she absorbed the heat that burned her exposed skin. It was the only thing Emily could actually feel at the moment. Emily just felt so numb after everything that has happened in the last couple of hours. It was like the death of her best friend was her demise. She didn't feel any hope for the future nor did she feel like her usual strong self. It was like her soul left her body when it took the selfless Bennett witch's.
"Hey," the soft voice of the younger Salvatore uttered as he silently walked up to the human girl. Stefan gently placed his hand onto Emily's shoulder and gave it a squeeze before he handed the human girl a glass of bourbon as he murmured, "here you go." The green eyed vampire wasn't exactly sure what he could say to Emily to make her feel better since she hadn't really reacted to any of his words, so the next best thing was alcohol as Stefan hoped it would help calm down Emily enough to fall asleep.
The Gilbert girl didn't even turn around at her boyfriend's voice. She just kept her green irises glued to the fire as she silently wrapped her fingers around the crystal glass of alcohol when Stefan placed it onto her palm. Emily then clutched the glass between both of her hands in a tight grasp before she shakily brought the glass to her lips and downed every drop of the bourbon like it was her lifeline.
The Salvatore vampire released a small sigh as he watched the numb and emotionless human girl before he gently placed his hand onto her upper arm, where Stefan realized that she was extremely warm. Stefan couldn't help but frown as he realized that Emily had to be in pain from the heat of the fire but she wasn't showing it. The Salvatore vampire wanted to move her to a safer distance but he felt that Emily would start sobbing hysterically again if he moved her and Stefan wanted to keep her calm. So, he instead just began to rub his cold hands down Emily's burning arms as he tried to ease the pain that she wouldn't show while he softly asked to hopefully get her to open up, "how are you feeling?"
Emily, however, didn't respond at first like the vampire had hoped. The human girl only continued to stare at the roaring fire before she finally mumbled the first statement since they had left Mystic Falls High School, "I don't feel anything." It was then like, once again, a dam was left opened when Emily uttered that small sentence because the next thing the human girl knew, she was mumbling words while her heart pounded in her chest and tears tripped down her neck, "it's all my fault. I should have stayed with Bonnie. I should of tried harder. I should of fought harder. I-I failed her. I w-was supposed to keep Bonnie safe and I couldn't even do that."
The Salvatore vampire quickly vamp sped in front of the sobbing human girl when she began to blame herself and lifted her from the chair in front of the fire before he sat down on the couch a few feet away and placed Emily onto his lap. Stefan protectively wrapped his arms around the human girl's waist and held her close to his chest while he softly assured her, "hey, hey, hey. This is not your fault." The green eyed vampire pushed Emily's brown hair behind her ear and wiped her tears away as he shook his head before he told her while he rubbed the side of her cheek, "this was all Klaus. We had no idea that he would do this. There was nothing we could do, baby. You can't blame yourself."
The sudden sound of the front door of the Salvatore boarding house loudly opening, however, stopped the human girl from saying anything back to her boyfriend as she swiftly sat up in Stefan's arms and saw it was the older Salvatore and her twin sister. Emily's anger immediately came back when she saw the vampire couple, so she got out of fetal position in her boyfriend's warm embrace before she walked up to the vampires. The human girl glared at the older Salvatore before she interrogated, "where is Bonnie?" However, when Damon didn't say anything, Emily harshly and frantically punched her fists onto his chest while she yelled out, "what did you do to her!?"
The older Salvatore completely ignored the human girl that was front of him as he looked over Emily's shoulder and towards his brother before he wondered with annoyance ringing throughout his voice while he pointed down towards the hysterical doppelganger, "will you please calm her down?"
A growl immediately escaped from Emily's lips before she pushed Damon with all her might and yelled, "don't ignore my question, you ass!" The Gilbert girl pushed her palms against the vampire's chest once again as she continued to yell, "Bonnie is my best friend and I deserve to know, dammit!"
Damon rolled his blue eyes at the persistent human girl before he looked down into her crazed green irises and slowly ordered, "please calm down." The Salvatore vampire huffed out a sigh when Emily continued to hit him instead of listening before he swiftly grabbed her wrists and pushed the human girl off of him. Damon then walked over to his alcohol table and began to pour himself a much needed drink as he stated, "Bonnie is right where she needs to be."
The Gilbert girl watched Damon walk away from her with tears streaming down her face and her brows furrowed as she didn't understand what he meant by that before she swiftly moved her burning gaze onto the other person that she was angry at - her twin sister. "You knew she was going to push herself over the edge, didn't you?" Emily interrogated while her silent tears dripped down her cheeks and neck while she stared directly at her sister.
Elena silently nodded her head while she bit down her bottom lip and tears slowly poured out of her brown eyes. "Yes, I did," the Gilbert vampire confessed in a broken whisper. The Gilbert vampire hated seeing her twin sister like this but it was necessary for Klaus to think Bonnie is dead. Elena knew everything would be okay once she or Damon explained what was going on but the Gilbert vampire wanted Emily to let it all out of her system as the human girl needed to release all that pent up emotion.
Emily shook her head with a humorless chuckle before she mumbled in disbelief, "and you did nothing to stop her." The human girl took a step closer to her sister with a glare shining throughout her green eyes before she angrily exclaimed, "I can't believe you just let our best friend, our childhood friend, die like you didn't even give a damn about her." Emily just couldn't handle her anger towards what her sister did, so without the human girl even realizing it, she raised her right hand and slapped the side of Elena's face before she whispered with tears in her green eyes, "how could you?"
The Gilbert vampire tried her best to not let her sister's anger affect her as she knew Emily just needed to let it all out. So, Elena didn't react to the slap to the face or the broken words from her twin sister. Instead, the Gilbert vampire stared into Emily's teary eyes with her brown ones also filled with unshed tears before she whispered, "I am so sorry, Emmie." Elena then glanced over to Damon to see if it was time to tell them the truth before she told her sister when Damon nodded his head, "I'm sorry we had to lie to you - to the both of you."
The human doppelganger took a step back from her twin sister with her brows furrowed while she tried to get control of her loud breathing and pounding heart. Emily then glanced between Elena and Damon once she was in control of her emotions before she slowly and confusingly questioned with a deep frown across her lips, "lied about what?"
"Klaus wasn't going to stop until he knew Bonnie was dead," Damon stated after he took a sip of his bourbon and began to walk towards his brother, girlfriend, and the human doppelganger. "We weren't prepared for Klaus to be using Alaric's body and there was no way that we could of stopped him, so we had to come with another plan. Klaus needed to believe that Bonnie was dead," the older Salvatore explained to the clueless couple before he moved to stand directly in front of the human girl. Damon then placed his hand to the side of his lips before he whispered with a small smirk, "a little secret, princess - Bonnie did a spell and she's very much alive."
Emily's green eyes widened along with unconsciously linking her fingers with Stefan's at this new information while she glanced between her twin sister and the older Salvatore. "What?" The human girl gaped in shock. Emily hurriedly glanced between Elena and Damon before she asked with hope entering her voice for the first time in a while, "Bonnie's okay?"
"Yep," Damon mumbled before he swiftly downed the rest of his bourbon. "The good witch of the East is alive," the older Salvatore exclaimed with a large smirk playing on his lips and sarcastically tipped his invisible hat before he silently headed up the staircase.
"I'll give you guys some time alone," the younger Salvatore whispered to his girlfriend after the living room in the boarding house grew silent before he placed a gentle kiss onto Emily's temple while he cradled her head. Stefan held the human girl like that for a moment as he offered one last bit of comfort before he headed upstairs to have a little chat with his brother and give the sisters some space to talk.
Emily gave Stefan a small smile to show her thanks for taking care of her during these last couple of hours before she watched her boyfriend walk up the staircase. The human girl then turned and faced her twin sister with a hopeful smile as she asked, "so, is it true? Bonnie's really okay?"
The Gilbert vampire nodded her head with a small but sad smile for all the pain that their plan had caused before she uttered, "come on." Elena grabbed ahold of her sister's hand and pulled Emily into the dining room - where she had left her laptop this afternoon. The two sisters then took a seat at the table before Elena quickly began to log into her laptop and pulled up the Skype page. Elena shot her twin sister a grin before she pushed the Bennett witch's contact information and waited for the call to be answered.
"BONNIE!" The human doppelganger couldn't help but immediately shout as soon as she saw her best friend's face pop up onto Elena's laptop screen with a grin spread widely across her lips. Emily felt like she was heaven right now by seeing Bonnie after witnessing her die right in front of her. It made Emily feel, in that moment, that everything would be okay now that she knew that she didn't actually lose her best friend. It gave Emily that hope again that she had thought she lost.
"Oh, it's so good to see you," the Bennett witch murmured as tears poured out of her brown eyes. Bonnie gave the human girl a bright smile while she wiped the salty liquid from her irises so she could see Emily before she sobered up and apologized for what happened tonight, "I am so, so sorry, Emmie." The Bennett witch glanced over to the Gilbert vampire with a thankful expression before Bonnie told the human girl, "I made Elena and Damon promise to not say anything to you, so please don't be mad at them."
Emily gave the Bennett witch a small nod before she turned her gaze onto her twin sister - who had tears in her eyes. The human girl shook her head with a small smile before she swiftly pulled Elena into a tight hug. "It's okay," Emily assured her twin sister before she murmured, "I understand now." The human girl then pulled away after a moment and wiped Elena's tears before she apologized with a teasing smirk, "I'm sorry for slapping you."
The Gilbert vampire shook her head with a chuckle before she lightly shrugged her shoulders with a small smile. "I kind of deserved it for making you think I would do that to our best friend," Elena stated as she honestly didn't take the slap to the face with offence since Emily was emotional and pained at the thought that Bonnie was actually dead.
Emily pointed her finger at her twin sister with a cheeky grin before she commented, "I was impressed, though." The Gilbert girl bumped her right shoulder with Elena's left one before she joked, "you're actually getting better at lying." The three girls then immediately laughed at the human girl's joke and the truth of her statement before Emily faced the Bennett witch with a small smile. "Honestly, though, I'm glad you're okay, Bon Bon," the Gilbert girl expressed her feelings before she begged, "but please never die again."
The Bennett witch let out a heavy chuckle at the human girl while she swiftly wiped away the fresh round of tears, once again, from her face before she stated, "I'll try not to."
The human girl grinned into the small camera on her twin sister's laptop while she stared at their very alive best friend. "God," Emily mumbled before she commented, "it's so good to see those beautiful brown eyes open again." The Petrova doppelganger then looked at the Bennett witch for a moment as she took in her features before the human girl expressed, "I missed you so much, Bon Bon."
The Bennett witch gave the human girl a bright smile and stated, "I missed you, too." A frown then lifted onto Bonnie's face while she watched Emily wipe away a few tears as she felt like she needed to apologize again before Bonnie murmured, "I'm sorry that I didn't tell you about the plan tonight, but Klaus needed to believe your reaction for it to work."
Emily carelessly waved her hand to show that it didn't bother her anymore before the human girl promised, "really, Bonnie, we're good." The human girl gave her best friend an assuring smile and stated, "I'm just happy you're alive right now and everything else is just water underneath the bridge."
Bonnie let out a thankful sigh before she murmured, "okay, good. That's good." The Bennett witch then shot the human girl a wide and happy smile as she was glad that Emily wasn't mad at her before Bonnie suddenly did something that she wasn't expecting - she let out loud and exhausted yawn.
The Gilbert twins both chuckled at their obviously sleepy best friend before Emily told the Bennett witch as she knew her best friend had to be exhausted after going against the hybrid, "you should probably get some rest, Bonnie." The human girl then shot her best friend a teasing smile before she stated, "you did die tonight."
Bonnie playfully rolled her brown eyes in false annoyance before she nodded her head with another loud yawn. "Yeah, I know," the Bennett witch mumbled before she pointed at the human girl and stated, "you should get some sleep, too." Bonnie could only imagine how exhausted Emily was slowly feeling after all that adrenaline.
The human doppelganger rolled her green eyes right back at her best friend before she mumbled, "yes, mother." The three teenagers immediately laughed at Emily's statement for a few minutes before Emily stared at the Bennett witch with a soft smile. "I love you so much, Bon Bon," the human girl expressed before she uttered, "good night."
Bonnie placed her fingertips against her lips before she moved them in front of the small webcam as she gave the human girl a virtual kiss. "I love you, too," the Bennett witch murmured before she told Emily, "good night. I'll talk to you soon."
The Gilbert girl blew a kiss right back to her best friend and gave Bonnie one last smile before she stood up from the dining room table with her own yawn. However, before Emily could move away from the table, Elena informed her, "I gotta ask Bonnie if they need anything while she and Jer are at the witch house real quick."
Emily nodded her head in understanding as she figured Bonnie would be staying there so Klaus wouldn't see her. "I'll see you soon," the human girl told the Bennett witch a small smile and a wave of her hand before she took her exit out of the dining room. The Gilbert girl then walked through the living room to go to sleep but quickly paused when she noticed the older Salvatore drinking a glass of bourbon by the fire.
The human doppelganger stood there for a moment as she stared at Damon's back before she rolled her green eyes as she knew that she owed the vampire an apology, so Emily poured her a glass of bourbon before she went and sat in the chair that was beside Damon. The Gilbert girl didn't say anything right away, though, when she took a seat. She instead stared at the flames while she took a sip of her bourbon. However, when Emily felt Damon's stare, the human girl let out a sigh before she apologized in a mumble, "I'm sorry for beating you up today." Emily then glanced over to Damon with a small smile as she praised him, "and thank you for helping and keeping Bonnie safe from her actual death and from Klaus."
The older Salvatore nodded his head as he silently accepted the praise before he stated, "it was the witch's idea, anyway." Damon lightly shrugged his shoulders as he took a gulp of the amber liquid before he muttered, "I just followed along." The human girl and the vampire then sat there in silence for a few minutes while they drank their bourbon before Damon glanced over to Emily and wondered with a raised eyebrow, "so, are we still good or did I get put on your hit list again?"
The Gilbert girl couldn't help but let out a loud chuckle as she shook her head. "Nah, we're good, Salvatore," the human girl murmured. Emily then shot Damon a small smirk before she teasingly commented as she recalled their conversation at the decade dance, "we're still besties or whatever the hell you called us."
Damon immediately rolled his blue eyes at the human girl while he took a sip of his bourbon before he glanced down at the amber colored liquid with an idea. The Salvatore vampire then held his crystal glass between the two chairs that he and Emily were occupying before he stated, "I think we're more bourbon buddies. I'll let vampire barbie hold that other title."
Emily couldn't help but chuckle, once again, at the fact that Damon was releasing his previous title of 'bestie' that he had used a couple of hours ago to Caroline. The Gilbert girl then shot the Salvatore vampire a wide grin and bumped her crystal glass with Damon's as she exclaimed as she agreed with their friendship that seems to be surrounded by alcohol since they made up, "you're damn right."
The newly formed 'bourbon buddies' gave one another a small nod before they both turned and faced the blazing fire while they enjoyed their glasses of bourbon with content smiles playing on their lips at the fact that everything was currently okay as no one was dead, so that was always a plus in their book. However, the one thought that plagued Emily's mind as they sat their in silence was that she was never going to let what happened to Bonnie tonight happen to anyone else that she loves. The human doppelganger swore as she relaxed her body in the comfortable chair and enjoyed the taste of bourbon on her tongue that she was going to take a visit to the basement once everyone was asleep. Emily gave her family and friends a chance for their plan, but now it was her turn and that all started with waking up a certain original.
