The human Petrova doppelganger couldn't help but, once again, roll her green eyes at Klaus for the thousandth time tonight from how happy and easy going Klaus was being when he was literally about to kill three innocent people. "Go to hell," Emily muttered as she glared over at the arrogant hybrid before she took up anxiously pacing the small space in her ring of fire. The Gilbert girl honestly could only think about her twin sister at the moment. Emily was so worried that she was going to end up failing and she wouldn't be able to protect her twin sister - something the Gilbert girl has always prided herself in.

The feared hybrid released a deep chuckle at Emily's spunk and fearless attitude before Klaus teasingly told his doppelganger with a false pout, "don't be like that, sunflower." A large grin quickly took over the hybrid's face before he concluded with excitement practically bouncing out of his body, "the fun has just begun."

"The fun will begin when I finally kill your annoying ass," the Gilbert girl muttered, mostly to herself, while she continued to pace the small space in her ring of fire as she also tried to ignore the cocky sound of Klaus' voice and tried to figure out how she was going to get Elena out of here alive.

Steven's Quarry soon grew dead silent for about a minute or two after Emily's smart mouthed comment - except for the fact that Jules was continuing to moan in pain from her bones constantly breaking - before Greta interrupted the quietness as she asked the hybrid in front of the stone bowl that would be the main focus point of the sacrifice, "do you have the moonstone?"

A large grin immediately pulled onto Klaus' face as he nodded his head before he pulled out the milky item from the pocket of his jacket pocket. "I spent 500 years looking for this," the hybrid commented as he ran his rough thumb across the smooth surface of the moonstone. Klaus released a small chuckle and commented as he handed the item over to Greta, despite his statement, "I hate to part with it."

Greta ignored everything Klaus was saying and everything around her as she seriously and silently accepted the moonstone from the hybrid before she glanced towards the dark sky. The witch stared up at the vast stars above her before she nodded her head as she realized that it was finally time. "The moon has passed its apex," Greta stated before she focused her brown irises onto the awaiting hybrid. "Remember everything you need to do?" The witch inquired.

Klaus silently nodded his head before he affirmed, "I remember."

"Good," Greta mumbled before she carefully placed the milky rock into the stone bowl in front of her that had been warming up with flames lighting up the center. Greta waited until the moonstone had slowly turned into ashes as sparks flew up into the dark sky before she began to chant the first part of the spell as she got prepared for the next step.

Klaus, who had studied the sacrifice and its spell practically everyday of his life after he found out that he had a dormant hybrid side, knew it was now his turn, so he turned around and walked through the vast Steven's Quarry as he slowly approached the three rings of fire to end someone's life to finally obtain his true nature.

Jules, who had been rolling around on the grass in pain from her bones constantly breaking and healing, could feel that the hybrid was heading her way, so she hurriedly connected her blue irises onto the human girl with a look of panic expressed all across her face. "You're Emily, right?" Jules inquired and once the Gilbert girl nodded her head, the werewolf grunted through her pain, "I-I'm sorry for any hurt I caused you through my actions... Everything I did... I was just trying to help Tyler like Mason wanted... for him."

Emily quietly stared across at the werewolf as she nodded her head in understanding - despite the fact that Jules did kill Rose and did try to kill her and Caroline once upon of a time. "I know," the Gilbert girl murmured as she had been glad that someone had been there for her best friend when she couldn't begin to understand what Tyler was going through as a new werewolf.

"You have to protect him and keep... him safe, Emily!" The dirty blonde werewolf practically screeched as she anxiously watched as the hybrid continued to get closer and closer to her ring of fire. "I know you meant a lot to Mase and I know... you mean a lot to him, too," Jules commented before she practically pleaded, "you know what is out there! You need to keep him safe. Hate me all you want, but do this for Tyler and Mason!"

"I will," Emily promised without hesitation - even though she would have done it anyway since she had sworn to Mason before he died that she would always protect the younger Lockwood werewolf. However, Emily may not be Jules' biggest fan but no one deserves to die like this, so if she could make the werewolf's worries go away on her deathbed then Emily was going to do it.

The cocky hybrid's smirk widened once he had finally made it to the center of the sacrifice and was standing right outside of his werewolf's ring of fire. Klaus twitched his head teasingly to the side as if he was observing his prey before he asked the sobbing wolf, "shall we?"

However, Jules didn't exactly get a choice in the matter because as soon as Klaus had uttered the last word in his question and his expression rose into another smirk, the ring of fire that surrounded the dirty blonde werewolf instantly disappeared. Jules was never one to give up, though. It just wasn't in her blood as a werewolf to lay on her back and be killed, so as soon the fire had completely vanished, Jules' blue irises turned that yellow color as her wolf finally came out before she hurriedly rushed at the dormant hybrid.

Jules figured that she would have the upper hand since she could actually use the full moon to her advantage - unlike the hybrid. However, Jules' plan ended up being fruitless, though, as she didn't take in account of just how old Klaus really was because as soon as she went to attack the hybrid, Klaus instantly slammed her down onto the hard ground and before Jules could even blink, she watched in fear as the hybrid plunged his hand into her chest and everything just went dark and empty.

The human Petrova doppelganger couldn't help but release a small gasp as she watched as Klaus pulled the werewolf's heart from her chest. Emily had seen Damon do it plenty of times along with seeing Elijah do it once before but it was different now since Emily knew that she, too, wold face such a brutal death.

I won't let him do that to you, Lena, the Gilbert girl silently promised to her twin sister as she glanced over to Elena and saw that she had watched the whole werewolf killing take place if the shaking of her body and the tears that continued to flow down her face was any indication.

Klaus widely grinned down at the non-beating heart in his blood soaked hands with a look of pure excitement shining throughout his blue-green irises as he realized that he was just that much more closer to finally getting his ultimate wish of unleashing his wolf side that had been locked away all of his life.

The excited hybrid had to mentally shake his head after a solid two minutes of gazing down at the heart in his hands to make himself focus back onto the rest of the sacrifice before he strutted his way back towards his witch. Klaus knew what he had to do next, so he automatically held Jules' heart over the stone bowl before he squeezed the blood into the basin of flames while he listened as Greta chanted the next part of the spell.

Klaus stared his hard blue-green eyes down at the stone bowl with a look of intense interest for what was happening with all the sparks that were flying from the wolf's blood before the dormant hybrid inquired in a quiet and slightly nervous voice, "does... Does that mean it's working?"

Greta immediately nodded her head with complete confidence as she had studied the ends and outs of the spell at least a thousand of times since Klaus had recruited her. "It's working," the brunette witch affirmed with a small grin playing on her lips.

"Emily," the Gilbert vampire softly called out to her twin sister while she ignored what was going on with the witch and the hybrid at the moment as she knew that her ending was near. "I'm sorry I couldn't protect you better," Elena muttered once she saw that Emily was focused on her as tears, once again, began to pour down her cold cheeks.

"Hey! Shut up," the Gilbert girl instantly exclaimed as she quickly shook her head as she was not going to accept her sister's words. "I'm the eldest, so I should be the one who is sorry that I couldn't stop this from happening to you," Emily mumbled with sadness dripping all throughout her voice as she felt guilty that her sister was in this position right now.

"I'm a vampire for crying out loud!" Elena sobbed as if she didn't even hear that her sister was trying to shut down her anxiety filled thoughts. "I should have kept you safe," the Gilbert vampire mumbled before she suddenly and roughly threw her arms towards the dark sky as she added with a bitter chuckle, "and now I'm gonna die! God, I fail at life."

"Elena," the human Petrova doppelganger sternly called out to her twin as she could see that Elena was pretty much full on panicking at the moment. Emily waited until her sister had looked over at her before the Gilbert girl calmly murmured as she assured the brunette vampire with a soft smile playing on her lips and tears clouding her green eyes, "you did not fail me, you hear me? I couldn't have asked for a better sister. You have only been a vampire for a short time and you have been amazing. You have protected me so many times recently, so now it's my turn."

Emily soon grew serious away from her assuring words as she reminded her twin, "you remember what we talked about?" The Gilbert girl didn't want to give away their plan to Greta, so she lifted her hand like a light switch and made an up and down motion with her point finger as to tell Elena to turn it off. "It's okay to do it," Emily softly promised as she knew her sister didn't like the idea of turning off her emotions. "Just fight, Elena, fight," the Gilbert girl pleaded to her twin, "don't ever stop."

Emily placed her right hand over her heart before she poured out her feelings and emotions to her other half for possibly the last time, "I love you so, so much. And I am so proud of everything that you have ever done. You have protected me. You have protected Jer. But, most importantly, you protected Jenna today."

Emily gently shook her head as she assured her twin sister as she knew that Elena felt guilty about a lot of different things tonight - like the fact that Elena was feeling scared when she has been going through this all along or if Elena did turn off her emotions, then she would feel guilty about not even trying to help her twin.

"You aren't selfish, okay?" The Gilbert girl insisted as she shot her sister a small smile before she continued, "you are amazing and you are a fighter." Emily released a small chuckle before she joked while also being serious, "we didn't only get these Petrova good looks for nothing. We also got that fire in us, so use it."

Emily briefly paused in her little speech as she took a deep breath and closed her green irises, so she could think for a moment about what they needed to do to get Elena out of here. The Gilbert girl stayed silent for another two minutes or so, before she focused her green eyes back onto her twin sister and told Elena in a quiet whisper, "I'm going to try my best to distract them but you have to fight back, you hear me?"

The Gilbert girl gave the brunette vampire a small nod as she stated and ordered, "we know I'm going to be just fine, but I'm gonna need you to fight." Emily looked at her twin with so much desperation shining through her green eyes while her hands practically shook as she begged, "please, Lena, just be selfish and run."

Elena instantly nodded her head as she wiped away the tears from her brown irises. "I will," the Gilbert vampire promised as she tried to look as confident as she wished that she felt. Elena absolutely hated the idea of leaving her sister behind by turning off her emotions and forgetting about her, but Elena also had to remind herself that Emily had magic running through her veins and that she would be okay.

The Gilbert vampire shot her twin sister a small smile before she told Emily for probably the last time ever, "you are the best friend and sister I could have ever wished for." Elena released a tiny chuckle before she confessed, "honestly, you're my hero, Em. You always have been. I can't count how many times that you have stood up for Jer and I when bullies came after us or how you had to grow up so much after mom and dad died."

Elena grinned softly across at her twin sister, despite their current predicament, as she murmured to show how much she appreciated the human girl, "you took care of us. You are the selfless one, Em. You've pushed all of your feelings aside for us." The Gilbert vampire released a tiny chuckle before she added, "hell, you even pushed your feelings aside when I was dating Stefan." Elena shook her head with a gentle smile playing on her lips as she concluded, "you are one of a kind, Emily Gilbert."

The ever-so comedian inside of the human Petrova doppelganger, couldn't help but joke as she carelessly shrugged her shoulders before she commented with a small smirk playing on her lips, "well, not really. I am a twin, after all."

The two Gilbert twins instantly chuckled quietly together thanks to the small break in the tense atmosphere before Elena praised her sister in a soft and kind voice, "thank you. Thank you for always being the strong one and thank you for always protecting me from everything dangerous. I never said it enough, but thank you. I love you, Emmie."

The human Petrova doppelganger subconsciously nodded her head as tears poured down the side of her cheeks as if she was trying to keep her emotions locked inside. However, that didn't really work out since Emily was practically sobbing in silence from Elena's sweet words before the human girl whispered to her twin sister, "I love you, too - so, so much."

The bittersweet moment between the human and the vampire Gilbert sisters, sadly, soon came to an end, enough, as Klaus approached the ring of fire that surrounded his vampire. "Hello, Elena," the hybrid greeted Katherine's doppelganger with a wide smirk proudly displayed across pink tinted lips.

The Gilbert girl knew that it was now her time for her to do her job to get the focus off of Elena, so the human Petrova doppelganger glared her green irises solely onto the hybrid before she loudly ordered, "release her, Klaus! This wasn't apart of the deal! You only need me!"

Klaus released an amused and deep chuckle from the back of his throat before he slowly turned around to put his sole attention onto his human. "We didn't have any deal, sunflower," the feared hybrid relayed to the human Petrova doppelganger with an entertaining smirk glued to his face.

"It's called stop being a jackass," Emily growled out as she continued to hold her glare onto the hybrid. However, the Gilbert girl knew that her anger wasn't going to do her or Elena any good at the moment, so Emily took a deep breath before she calmly inquired with a twitch of her head as if she didn't actually wanna kill Klaus at the moment, "I thought you wanted to be friends?"

The Gilbert girl released a small tsk as she shook her head before she told the hybrid, "well, I'm sorry, pal, but if you kill my sister, then that will never happen."

Klaus couldn't help but release another round of chuckles as he listened to the human Petrova doppelganger. "I don't know if you realize, sunflower, but you will soon join your sister, anyway," the hybrid relayed to Emily before he carelessly shrugged his shoulders and muttered with a cocky smirk playing on his pink lips, "besides, friends are overrated when you are the strongest being in existence."

Emily immediately rolled her green irises at the hybrid across from her before she silently thought to herself as she recalled basically the only thing that she had constantly been hearing about her new witch form, you have no idea who is the stronger being will be.

The Gilbert girl couldn't help but begin to get annoyed and angry, though, from the fact that she wasn't able to get through to Klaus, so without even realizing it, Emily stepped closer towards the fire as she growled towards the cocky hybrid, "release my sister right now or I swear to Go-" However, before Emily could continue to threaten the big, bad hybrid, the Gilbert girl suddenly yelped when she felt the burning sensation of the ring of fire slapping against her legs.

"Careful, sunflower," Klaus warned his doppelganger after he had released an amused tsk. "We wouldn't want to hurt my prized possession, right?" The hybrid teasingly questioned with a wide smirk continuously playing on his lips as he repeated the exact words that Emily had uttered earlier tonight.

The Gilbert girl released another loud growl as her anger just continued to get worse and worse the more that the hybrid continued to talk and look at her. However, though, before Emily could say or do anything, she was soon interrupted as her twin sister told her, "Emily, it's okay." Elena connected her brown irises with her sister's green ones before she softly stated, "I know what I have to do. It's okay. I'll be okay." Elena gave her twin sister a watery smile before she murmured with so much emotion in her voice, "I love you."

Emily couldn't help the small and relieved sigh that escaped her lips as she was glad that her sister was going to go along with the plan to fight and run. However, Emily knew that she needed to act as if they didn't have a plan to stop Klaus from being suspicious, so the Gilbert girl turned on her anger that she always felt around Klaus before she yelled out to Elena as if she was fighting for her twin, "no! He doesn't get to win! I stayed in Mystic Falls like a good girl and I didn't run - nor did I turn into a vampire when we all know I could have with vampires constantly surrounding me."

Emily swiftly focused her green and angry irises onto the hybrid in question before she snapped as she held out her arms, "I'm here!" The Gilbert girl released a small growl from the back of throat before she interrogated Klaus as she angrily asked, "what more do you want from me?"

Klaus, who had been amusingly watching his doppelganger's rant with a wide smirk on his face, couldn't help the chuckle that slipped through his lips once he heard and recognized the new presence at Steven's Quarry. "Well, well, well," the hybrid muttered as he continued to stare at Emily before he slowly moved his blue-green gaze to the top of the quarry. "I don't recall you being on the guest list," Klaus commented as he looked at the anxious-looking vampire.

The Gilbert girl instantly became curious as to who would be stupid enough to interrupt the worldly feared hybrid's century old sacrifice, so Emily quickly focused her green eyes onto to where Klaus was looking at before a loud gasp instantly fell from his lips. "No," Emily quietly murmured as she shook her with sadness glowing through her bright irises.

However, though, the more that she stared, the more anger began to enter Emily's body. "Why can you guys just stay home?" The Gilbert girl groaned out as she stared at none other than her lovely boyfriend. Emily was angry from the fact that Stefan had came here when she told him to stay gone and let her do this.

It was like everything was just crashing down on Emily. This was supposed to be about her dying and now she couldn't focus straight with her loved ones somehow ending right in the middle of the sacrifice. It absolutely killed the Gilbert girl that she couldn't even stop what was going to happen to either her sister and boyfriend as she was stuck inside of the ring of fire for the time being. Emily just felt so helpless at the moment that she was angry that she couldn't save them like she wished she could. She just had to watch the horror play out in front of her.

The green eyed vampire avoided looking over to his girlfriend as Stefan could physically feel the anger and sadness swimming off of the human girl's body - along with the fact that Stefan knew Emily was going to be even more angry at him when she found out why he was at Steven's Quarry at the moment. So, instead of facing the human's wrath, Stefan focused his green eyes solely onto the feared hybrid. "I'm here to talk," the Salvatore vampire announced.

Klaus stared up towards the younger vampire for a few tense moments before he calmly muttered as he carelessly shrugged his shoulders, "very well, then." The blue-green eyed hybrid glanced back at the Gilbert twins with a wide smirk playing on his lips before he teased them, "don't go anywhere." Klaus released a heavy chuckle at the human's glare before he vamp sped up to Stefan and inquired in that same teasing tone, "what can I do for you, Mr. Salvatore?"

The human Petrova doppelganger couldn't help frown as she watched the scene of her boyfriend and the hybrid calming talking with one another. It was driving her crazy to not know what was going on, so Emily called out to her twin without even taking her focused eyes off of the two supernatural beings, "Elena! What are they talking about?"

"Give me a second," the Gilbert vampire quietly mumbled as she pushed a portion of her brunette hair shakily behind her right ear before she tried to focus onto Klaus and Stefan's voices while she blocked out the sound of the witch's chanting. It took Elena a few tries since she was so weak and tired but when she did, finally, hear the vampire and hybrid's voices, Elena couldn't help the loud gasp that escaped her mouth.

"No, no, no!" The Gilbert vampire practically chanted as she hurriedly shook her head. "You can't," Elena whispered as she was in complete shock from what she was hearing right now.

"Elena!" The Gilbert girl had been practically yelling at her twin sister as she tried to get her attention for the past couple of minutes. "Elena, what is it?" Emily quickly and nervously inquired from the fact that her sibling looked like she had just seen a ghost.

"It's... It's so bad," Elena shakily whispered as she still couldn't believe what her boyfriend's brother was asking for right now. The Gilbert vampire didn't even want to say the words out loud as she knew it was going to crush Emily and put her in an even worse predicament than she already was in.

"Elena, focus!" The human Petrova doppelganger hollered to her sister so Elena would focus onto her for a second. "What's going on?" Emily interrogated the Gilbert vampire as she grew more worried as the silence continued and the more Klaus and Stefan continued to speak, "what are they saying?"

The Gilbert vampire slowly turned to face her twin sister with a heartbreaking expression displayed all over her body from the frown on her lips to the slumped position were shoulders were in. "He... He wants to take my place," Elena finally relayed the information to the human girl about what Stefan was trying to do.

Emily's green irises immediately widened as soon as she heard the words leave her sister's mouth. "Nope, we aren't doing this," the Gilbert girl quickly exclaimed after she got over her shock of what her boyfriend was trying to do. Emily focused her green eyes solely onto the Salvatore vampire and uttered strongly as she knew he would be able to hear her angry words, "I will literally kill you myself. Do not do this, Stefan."

Emily had already been a nervous wreck since the moment that she had seen her twin sister here at the sacrifice along with the fact that she was anxious about getting Elena out of here. The fact that the Gilbert girl's boyfriend was also face to face with the feared hybrid made Emily even more worried as she knew that there would be nothing that she could do if their lives were in danger when she was trapped inside of her ring of fire.

"Emmie...?" The Gilbert vampire cautiously called out to her twin sister, who had been silently glaring at her boyfriend and the hybrid. Elena honestly had no clue as to how to approach the human girl right now. She just knew this was all very, very bad.

Emily ignored her sister's worries that she could hear in the younger vampire's voice - she had enough of her own - as she exclaimed and partly ranted to herself, "I have to stop this." The Gilbert girl shook her head with a look of determination displayed across her reddened face, "I don't care if I die but I will not let the two most important people in my life join me as well." Emily stubbornly crossed her arms over her chest before she concluded, "nope. Not today."

While the human Petrova doppelganger was practically having a mental breakdown over to kill her boyfriend from his stupidity or save him, the aforementioned vampire and the ever-so feared hybrid slowly walked down the cliff as they approached the Gilbert twins. "Quite the predicament," Klaus tsked as he shot the human girl a wide and amused smirk. "You know, it's funny," Klaus commented with a careless and easy-going atmosphere surrounding his body before he told Emily, "all this talk about preserving family, and here's Stefan, granting your wish."

The Gilbert girl immediately shook her head in disagreement while she stared across at the love of her life with a heartbreaking expression displayed all over her body. "Stef," Emily softly murmured in a voice that was filled with sadness, disappointment, and puzzlement before she questioned her boyfriend with a heavy sigh following shortly after, "what were you thinking?" Emily honestly felt so devastated at the possibility of two very important people in her life dying because of her.

The Salvatore vampire looked at his girlfriend for the first time since he had arrived at Steven's Quarry before he shot Emily a soft but watery smile. "It's okay," Stefan quietly assured the Gilbert girl as he nodded his head with a look of nervousness and determination shining across his face, "I'm going to fix this."

"Well," the blue-green eyed hybrid called out as he interrupted the moment between the human and vampire couple before he pulled a stake from the inside of his jacket pocket and pointed it between Emily's sister and her boyfriend. Klaus placed his attention solely onto his doppelganger before he inquired, "who's it gonna be, sunflower?"

The Gilbert girl instantly released a fierce growl before she snapped as she glared at the smirking hybrid, "go fuck yourself, Klaus." But, honestly, what was the hybrid expecting her to say? Emily would never pick between the two people who she loved more than anything. She would rather suffer an extremely painful death than watch her twin sister and her boyfriend die.

"Oohh," Klaus cooed with his smirk spread even wider across his pink tinted lips. The hybrid glanced over to the young vampire beside him before he teasingly inquired, "does she kiss you with that dirty mouth?" However, when Stefan only glared at him in silence, Klaus released a small chuckle before he told everyone, "oh, relax, guys."

Klaus carelessly shrugged his shoulders before he explained, "there's actually no choice." The feared hybrid shot a grin over at the frowning and glaring Gilbert twins before he used his enhanced speed to go behind the Salvatore vampire and staked him right in the center of his back. Klaus darkly chuckled while he watched as Stefan cried out in pain before he heavily dropped down to the ground a few seconds later.

"No!" The human Petrova doppelganger shouted in panic as she watched her boyfriend yell out before all of his movements had just stopped all together. "Stefan!" The Gilbert girl worriedly called when she couldn't tell if her boyfriend was still alive or not. "Stef, babe, can you hear me!?" Emily continued to try to get the Salvatore vampire's attention with tears pouring down the side of her reddened cheeks.

"Relax, sunflower," Klaus chuckled out while he pushed the wooden stake further into the Salvatore vampire before he broke the weapon into Stefan's back, so he wouldn't be able to heal for the rest of the sacrifice. "Your boyfriend isn't the one dying today," Klaus relayed to his doppelganger before he explained, "I have other plans for your boyfriend and for that, I need him alive."

Klaus taunting stared down at the now groaning Salvatore vampire by his black boots for a tense moment before he began to utter, "but for now..." The smirking hybrid then bent down until he was leveled with Stefan's face before he used his enhanced speed to snap the Salvatore vampire's neck. "There," Klaus huffed as he pushed himself back up so he was now standing straight and in the middle of the two Gilbert siblings before he uttered with a wide smirk, "he won't be a problem anymore."

"I swear to everything that is holy, I am going to kill you like Darina and Maria should have," the last human Petrova doppelganger threatened the ever-so feared hybrid while she ignored the angry and sad tears that continuously poured out of her green irises.

"Now, now, sunflower," Klaus tsked as he slightly shook his head with a look of amusement shining throughout his blue-green eyes. "There is no need for empty threats," the hybrid told his doppelganger.

However, before the Gilbert girl could come up with a comeback to the cocky hybrid, Klaus didn't even allow that to happen as he swiftly changed the direction of the conversation as he turned around and faced his witch. Klaus gave the brunette witch a small nod before he told her, "whenever you're ready, Greta."

Greta gave the hybrid a nod right back as to say that she was ready to continue with the sacrifice before she closed her brown irises and began to chant the next part of the spell. The witch lowly chanted for about three minutes while everyone tensely watched before the fire that surrounded the Gilbert vampire suddenly vanished without a trace like it hadn't even been there to begin with.

The Gilbert vampire instantly began to panic once she realized that there was now nothing that was stopping Klaus from killing her. However, though, Elena felt herself slowly beginning to relax and calm down a tiny bit when she could hear her twin sister quietly chanting, "I love you. You got this. It's okay. I love you. You got this. It's okay."

Emily's words honestly was helping the Gilbert vampire - despite the fact that she was scared out of her mind at the moment. It just gave Elena that boost of confidence and strength that she needed when she was about to be face to face with the most feared supernatural being in existence. The Gilbert vampire felt comforted by Emily and her words, so Elena kept her brown irises solely onto her twin sister as she silently prepared herself for her face-off against the hybrid.

Klaus slowly and cockily strutted over to his vampire with a smirk shining brightly across his pink tinted lips as if he didn't have a care in the world. "Your turn, love," the hybrid informed Elena once he was standing only a few inches away from the anxious-looking Gilbert vampire.

Emily honestly couldn't help the tears that freely began to pour down the side of her reddened cheeks no matter how much she tried to stop them as she watched as Klaus was face to face with her twin sister. "I love you, Elena," the Gilbert girl told her other half before she sobbed during her last moment with her twin, "I am so proud of who you have become. It's you and me forever, okay?"

The Gilbert vampire stared across at her twin sister with a watery smile displayed across her chapped lips before she softly murmured, "I love you, too." Elena nodded her head as she affirmed what the human girl had said before she voiced it as well as she stated, "forever."

Elena wiped the hot tears that were clouding her brown irises before she promised, "we're going to be okay." The Gilbert vampire took a deep breath as she tried to be as confident as she needed to be before she whispered, "I know what I need to do." Elena stared across at the human girl for a moment more as if she was trying to remember her twin before Elena slowly closed her eyes and flipped that dreaded switch inside of her.

The human Petrova doppelganger couldn't help but release a small gasp as she watched as her sister opened up her brown eyes and looked completely emotionless. Emily thought that she was looking at Katherine right now instead of the sweet and easy-going Elena Gilbert.

Emily was honestly a nervous wreck as she watched as her now emotionless twin sister was staring across at the feared hybrid in a very tense silence. "Come on, Elena," the Gilbert girl whispered, mostly to herself, as she prayed that Elena could survive this and get somewhere safe, "just fight."

The emotionless Gilbert vampire didn't even react to her sister's voice as she was only focused on the fact that she was in danger and that she needed to escape. Elena was in complete fight or flight mode as soon as that worried part of her brain was shut off about Emily and that was exactly what she needed at the moment.

Elena didn't spare her twin sister a second glance as she was ready to do anything to survive before she used her enhanced speed to push Klaus as hard as she could onto the ground. The Gilbert vampire knew there would be no sacrifice if there was no witch, so as soon as Klaus was flat on his back, Elena vamp sped up to Greta before she took a large bite from her neck.

Hey, I was hungry, Elena amusingly thought to herself as she began to suck the blood from the witch's neck. However, sadly for Elena, she only had the chance to take a single bite and a tiny sip out of Greta before she recognized Emily yelling out, "run," before she felt her body being tossed roughly onto the ground with a stake planted into her back.

The Gilbert vampire instantly released a loud groan once her body stopped rolling on the hard ground along with the fact that was a wooden stake poking out of her lower back. It took a minute or two of Elena gaining her bearings from being rag dolled around by Klaus before the Gilbert vampire finally dislodged the stake from her body. "Well, that hurt," Elena pouted as she tossed the bloody weapon across the quarry.

"Elena! Run!" The human Petrova doppelganger continued to shout to her emotionless sister even louder than she had been doing once she saw that Klaus had thrown her. "Get the hell up and run!" Emily frantically screamed as she was so afraid that the more that Elena didn't move, the more chance that Klaus could get to her.

The Gilbert girl knew that her twin sister wasn't at her strongest anymore since she had been staked, so Emily knew that she needed to do something to give Elena some time to get her barrings back. Emily also knew there wasn't a lot that she could do when she was still trapped inside her ring of fire, so Emily decided that she would give Elena as much time as she could while she distracted Klaus with her words.

"Come on, Klaus!" The human Petrova doppelganger loudly called out to the obviously angry hybrid. "You know you want me the most!" Emily taunted the hybrid as she tried to distract him as best as she could while her twin sister tried to pull herself up from the ground. "Kill me right now!" The Gilbert girl yelled with tears continuously falling down her cheeks as fear absorbed every inch of her body.

"Wait your turn, sunflower," Klaus growled out to his doppelganger and without even giving Emily a second glance, the angry hybrid used his enhanced speed to rush to the Gilbert vampire before he pulled Elena up until she standing in front of him. "Nice try, love, but no one can defeat me," Klaus uttered with a wide and wicked smirk shining across his lips before he used the stake that he had picked up from the ground and pierced it into Elena's chest.

"NO! ELENA!" The Gilbert girl screamed out like a banshee as her green eyes widened in complete and utter shock. Emily slowly fell down to her knees at the same time as she watched Elena's body turn grey and she took her last breath. Emily honestly felt like she couldn't breathe anymore now that her other half's life was ripped away from her. The Gilbert girl couldn't even begin to describe the pain that she felt as she sobbed for her twin sister.

"No, no, no, no!" Emily cried over and over again. "You shouldn't have been here! I was supposed to protect you," the Gilbert girl ranted and belittled herself as she continued to sob for the lost of her twin sister, "why didn't I protect you from this? I should have known this would happen!"

The heartbroken human girl shakily shook her head as tears carelessly poured down the side of her cheeks and down her neck while she chanted over and over again, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." Emily grasped onto the Earth from underneath her as if she was trying to ground herself from losing someone so important to her.

Steven's Quarry was filled with a lot of different sounds. Greta's chanting, Klaus' chuckling, Emily's sobbing along with a new sound - Stefan's groaning. The Salvatore vampire was finally waking up from having his neck snapped before he instantly felt and remembered the piece of wood that was embedded into his back. Stefan tried as best as he could to take the broken stake out of his back but his arm, sadly, wouldn't stretch that way, so Stefan ended up just giving up for the time being.

Instead, the Salvatore vampire slowly glanced around him with his brows pulled together as he tried to figure out what he had missed after Klaus had broken his neck. Stefan couldn't help but release a loud gasp, though, when he spotted his ex-girlfriend and close friend's grey body with a stake stabbed right through her heart.

"No," Stefan quietly mumbled in disbelief to what he was seeing before he hurriedly searched for his girlfriend. "Emily," the Salvatore vampire called out to his girlfriend, who looked liked she just had her heart ripped out of her own chest. Stefan sluggishly shook his head with warm tears free falling down his face before he murmured, "I am so sorry."

Stefan knew his apologies weren't going to help the Gilbert girl at all when her sister was dead but he felt like he needed to say it. The Salvatore vampire just felt so guilty that he hadn't been able to save Elena for his girlfriend's sake but also for his brother. Stefan felt like he failed when he felt like he could have done something, anything, to keep Elena alive.

The human Petrova doppelganger completely and utterly ignored the eyes of her boyfriend and his words as she kept her green irises locked onto Klaus as he held her sister's heart in his hands with an emotionless gaze and a hard glare while tears continued to slide down her cheeks. Instead, Emily only asked one simple question while Klaus' attention was on the ritual as he squeezed her sister's blood into the basin, "are Elijah and Bonnie coming?"

Stefan silently and cautiously nodded his head as he was quickly growing worried for his girlfriend. The Salvatore vampire knew Emily was supposed to be emotional during a time like this but there was just something inside of the human girl's eyes that didn't exactly seem like the girl he knows. It was as if something was sitting heavily on her heart.

Emily released a heavy sigh that was filled with so much emotion from the death of her other half and from the fact that Klaus would soon get what he deserved once she herself was dead before she muttered, "good." The Gilbert girl honestly wished that she could stick around just so she could see the bastard take his last breath like he had taken Elena's like it was nothing.

"Emily," the Salvatore vampire anxiously called to his girlfriend with a frown embedded onto his face. However, Stefan didn't know what to say once the Gilbert girl had slowly looked over to him. He just felt completely useless at the moment with the stake still lodged in his back and from the fact that he couldn't even comfort his girlfriend when she just lost someone so important to her.

"I love you," Emily simply told her boyfriend, instead of commenting on Stefan's worries, once she realized that Klaus was slowly approaching the ring of fire that surrounded her. The Gilbert girl knew that she couldn't say that she was okay or that everything was going to be fine because she knew and Stefan knew that would be completely bullshit. Instead, Emily focused all of her energy on the satisfaction she would soon feel once she knew Klaus was dead.

"It's time, sunflower," Klaus told his doppelganger with a wide smirk pulled up onto his lips once he was standing a few feet away from the Gilbert girl. The hybrid waited until the ring of fire around Emily had disappeared after Greta chanted a little spell before Klaus held out his hand for the human girl.

Emily continued to glare a deathly gaze at the hybrid in front of her as she slowly pushed herself up from the ground before she walked past the smirking Klaus after she had forced her shoulder to slam into his side as she walked past him. The Gilbert girl ignored Klaus' chuckle as she sluggishly walked up to the infamous altar while she tried to not cry when she saw her twin sister's lifeless body.

"I am so, so sorry, Lena," the human Petrova doppelganger whispered to her twin as she gazed down at her grey body before Emily quickly wiped away her tears when she felt Klaus walking up from behind her. Emily would rather hold in all of the pain that she felt at the moment then give Klaus the pleasure of seeing her suffer from his actions.

The feared hybrid slowly walked around Emily as if he was locking his hungry gaze onto his prey before he twisted the Gilbert girl around, so she was facing him. Klaus brought his hand up to the side of Emily's face before he rubbed his rough thumb gently across her cheek. Klaus stared into the Gilbert girl's green eyes with a small smirk playing on his lips before he murmured, "this has been fun, sunflower. Thank you for your service."

Emily immediately pushed the smirking hybrid's hand away from her face with a fierce push before she glared up at the taller supernatural being. "I hope you rot in hell," the Gilbert girl growled out as if she was the one about to turn into a hybrid. Emily stared lifelessly up at Klaus, who had been just gazing down at her for awhile, before Emily soon grew annoyed. "Why don't you just get i-" the Gilbert girl began to mutter.

However, before the Gilbert girl could complain to the smirking hybrid, she was soon cut off as Klaus used his enhanced speed to bend down and place his sharp fangs into the middle part of her neck. Emily instantly groaned at the painful and burning sensation as she felt like her whole body was on fire. The Gilbert girl tried to stay awake as much as she could like as if she was trying to fight her death. However, though, when Emily stared up at the dark sky, she could have sworn that she heard a familiar voice calling out to her.

Emily didn't know what it was but she felt like she wanted, no needed, to find that voice so the Gilbert girl ignored that part of her that wanted to fight her looming death as she finally let her body go limp. The human Petrova doppelganger could only hear the loud sounds of sparks flying from the altar along with her boyfriend's cries before darkness took over her body and her heart stopped beating for the final time.
