It had been exactly three days since the sacrifice took place, since Emily became the last living Radkova witch, and, sadly, since Elena and John had passed on. The lone Gilbert twin was currently sitting on the middle of her sister's perfectly made bed inside of their childhood home with an off-the-shoulder black dress adoring her twitchy body.

It was possibly the worst day in her entire life. It was the last day that Emily had ever thought she would have to experience. It was the day of her biological father and her twin sister's funeral. Emily never really put much thought on ever losing Elena, so it was absolutely crushing to know that she was about to say her final goodbye to her twin sister. If Emily was being honest, she thought she was the dead one at the moment by how heart wrenching she felt without Elena by her side.

The Gilbert girl released a heavy and shaky breath as she pulled her green irises away from her fingers and slowly looked around Elena's empty and cold bedroom. It felt so different to be in her sister's bedroom with knowing that Elena wasn't going to come rushing through that door in any second and tell her about some mistake Jenna made in the kitchen like burning the toast or spilling coffee all over her white blouse like she usually would a few times a week.

Instead, Emily just felt so cold and numb. The young witch didn't feel lighthearted or giggly like she would if she was lazily joking around with her twin sister. Emily just felt absolutely lost in the world without Elena. It was like nothing could help the gaping hole in the heart - and she had tried everything at this point.

For the past three days, the Gilbert girl had tried anything and everything to at least feel a little bit okay. Emily tried having sex - it made her forget about her life for a little while. Emily tried drinking with her drinking buddies - but that just made her sadder with how down the older Salvatore was doing. Emily tried hanging out with Jenna - but that just reminded Emily of the sacrifice with her aunt now being a vampire. Emily even tried practicing magic with Bonnie - but she couldn't focus enough to do anything.

Emily didn't know how the hell she was supposed to go on without her twin sister at this point when she was barely holding herself together. It was like nothing was helping her cope. However, now that she was inside of Elena's bedroom for the first time since her passing, Emily felt comforted by the strawberry and maple smell in the air that made Emily feel like her sister was sitting right there beside her.

The young witch couldn't help it when warm tears began to quickly flow down her reddened cheeks before she laid back onto her twin sister's bed. The scent of Elena did help calm her heart but it also made Emily recall again and again that Elena wasn't going to pop up anytime soon and cuddle with her because she was dead. It continuously broke Emily's heart from the fact that she would never get the chance to look into her other half's coffee brown eyes or hear Elena's soft chuckles ever again.

"I miss you so much," Emily whispered as she slowly and shakily grabbed ahold of her twin sister's plushie of a bunny that had a small strawberry inside of its hands. The Gilbert girl let a tiniest of smiles lift onto her lips as she remembered that she had bought it for Elena when they were fifteen after Elena puked after she had ate a large amount of strawberries in one sitting.

"God, this isn't fair," Emily whimpered as hundreds and hundreds of happy, sad, emotional, and blissful memories flew through her mind that all consisted of her twin sister. It was as if the other half of her heart had been torn from her chest after the sacrifice and Emily didn't know how to repair it. Everything was just hurting and the worst part of it was that it wasn't even physical.

Emily knew that if her pain was physical then she could at least go to a hospital or a vampire could just heal her with their blood. However, that wasn't the case at all. There was absolutely nothing in this world that could help Emily cope with the lost of her twin sister. It wasn't like she could just turn it off like a vampire, either.

Emily felt like the only thing that she could do right as of lately was cry - which was what she was currently doing - and she didn't even think she was doing that correctly when the house was shaking with the beat of her sobs. The Gilbert girl was starting to get used to her new witch powers acting up like this and she couldn't bring herself to care about what they did to things around her - well, except when they involved her loved ones.

Emily was still very cautious when she would touch someone as she didn't want to hurt anyone again like she had done with Stefan when she had woken up after the sacrifice. The young witch recently had a few mishaps that she wasn't proud of - one with Jeremy and the other with Stefan, again.

Emily always tried to keep her distance with her loved ones but they wouldn't exactly let her do that. There was always someone either touching her or being too close for her comfort level.

Emily knew that they were just trying to let her know that she wouldn't hurt them and that there wasn't anything wrong with her but it still made the new witch extremely anxious and twitchy. It sometimes became too much for Emily that it made her feel like she was being smothered by everyone. The Gilbert girl's current predicament of sobbing for her deceased other half honestly felt like a really messed up blessing in disguise now that she was finally alone for the first time since everything happened.

Emily just felt so stuck in the world that she needed her space to think for herself. She felt like everyone lately was trying to tell her that she was going to be okay and she wasn't any different now that she had magic running through her veins but that wasn't how she was actually feeling.

Emily knew that she wasn't normal anymore like everyone was telling her. She was weird now that she had these powers. It wasn't even because she was a witch - she found being a witch very interesting from watching Bonnie and briefly Grams - it was the fact that she was practically a failure with her powers. The Gilbert girl couldn't even touch someone without being scared that she was going to hurt them nor could she show any of her emotions without being afraid that she was going to destroy a house.

It just made Emily feel like an outsider. She felt like she couldn't move or speak without causing some sort of destruction. The new witch honestly wished someone would just lock her up and lose the key. Emily was already suffering from the lost of her other half, her heart's soulmate - at least that way she couldn't hurt anyone else.

The Gilbert girl was so lost in her self-hatred and anxious filled thoughts about what her life had became in just a short few days that she didn't even hear the knock that her boyfriend rattled against the door of her sister's bedroom and nor did she hear him call out her name a multiple of times. The Gilbert girl finally took notice of Stefan, though, when the younger Salvatore gently placed his cold hand onto her warm cheek.

"Em, baby, can you hear me?" Stefan worriedly questioned as he gripped both sides of his girlfriend's tear-stained face. The green eyed vampire had been calling out to Emily for the past five minutes while he stared into her blank irises, so he obviously became extremely concerned for her health since he had never seen her like that before.

The Gilbert girl stared at her worried boyfriend with her brows pulled together in confusion for a solid two minutes before she finally nodded her head. "Yeah," Emily mumbled in a thick and rough voice from not speaking all day before she lightly assured the Salvatore vampire as she muttered while she continued to hug her sister's plushie close to her chest, "I'm okay."

Stefan released a small sigh as he stared down at his girlfriend's fragile figure before he silently lowered himself down onto his knees in front of the bed, so he could look into Emily's green irises. The Salvatore vampire cautiously brought his fingers up to run through his girlfriend's brunette hair before Stefan softly inquired, "how are you doing? About today?"

Stefan knew today was going to be a rough one for everyone - especially his girlfriend and brother - so he felt like he needed to keep a close watch on Emily. The Salvatore vampire knew just how much the Gilbert girl blamed herself for Elena's death by the way that Emily had been closing herself off lately. Stefan just wanted to be there for his girlfriend as much as he could while she went through the worst death in her life.

The young witch lightly shrugged her shoulders while she felt comforted by how Stefan was running his fingers through her hair. It gave Emily some sort of comfort at the moment. That was what usually happened after someone would touch her and Emily didn't end of up hurting them as she craved the feeling of someone else's skin against hers.

The Gilbert girl released a heavy sigh as she looked into Stefan's worried green eyes before she closed her own as she squeezed the soft bunny plushie further into her chest. "I don't know what I feel," Emily confessed after a moment of the house shaking along with her fast beating heart. The young witch slowly opened her green irises and looked back up to Stefan before she continued with silent tears flowing down the sides of her cheeks, "I... I just know that I don't want to have to say goodbye to her."

"I know, baby," Stefan immediately began to softly console his girlfriend as he cautiously moved his fingers out of Emily's brunette hair and down to wrap his hand around her waist while she continued to lay down on her side. The Salvatore vampire waited for Emily to pull away from him but when she didn't, Stefan used his enhanced speed to change their position, so he was sitting on the bed with the Gilbert girl seated on his lap while he hugged Emily tightly into his chest.

"I know it's hard to say goodbye," the Salvatore vampire continued to comfort his girlfriend once they were settled in their new position, "but it's all just apart of life." Stefan gave the Gilbert girl's waist a light squeeze as he stated, "I know that's probably the last thing you wanna hear when saying goodbye to someone so important to you, but it's the hard truth. It's only way for you to move on and be happy again like we all know Elena would want for you to do."

The Salvatore vampire brought his hand gently to his girlfriend's chin before he turned her face so they were eye to eye. "It's going to be painful but you have to remember that there is so many people here for you," Stefan assured the Gilbert girl as he ran his thumb across her cheek, "you will never be alone in this, alright? You can always count on me. I promise, I will make sure that you will be okay again."

The young witch stared into her boyfriend's green irises for a moment or two before she quietly whispered, "thank you." There wasn't much that Emily could say when she didn't even think that she would ever be okay again but, nonetheless, she appreciated it so much that Stefan wasn't giving up on her when she had been basically shutting him and everyone out these past few days. The Salvatore vampire was being patient with her and that meant the absolute world to Emily.

"Of course, baby," Stefan softly murmured as he continued to run his thumb across the Gilbert girl's cheek, "like I said, you can always count on me." The Salvatore vampire placed a gentle kiss onto Emily's forehead while he held her close to his body for another few minutes before he gently asked her, "are you ready to get going?"

The Gilbert girl released a shaky deep breath at the question before she slowly nodded her head. "Yeah, we should go," Emily muttered through her scratchy voice before she sluggishly pushed herself out of her boyfriend's lap and straightened out her black dress. Emily then walked over to her sister's vanity table and instantly began to fix her eyeliner without really looking at her reflection.

Emily knew if she looked at her image that she would probably just start crying all over again from the thought of her sister. It wasn't even because they were twins. It was because both she and Elena shared a similar scar beside their right eye from when they tried to rollerblade down the driveway at age ten.

Emily definitely didn't need to start crying at the moment, so instead, the young witch focused solely onto her smudged eye makeup before she turned around and went to put on her black combat boots that she placed by the door of Elena's bedroom.

Once the Gilbert girl had finished putting on the final touches of her outfit, Stefan crossed the room and immediately pulled his girlfriend back into his arms. "Are you sure you are ready?" The Salvatore vampire worriedly inquired before he assured Emily, "we can always wait a few more minutes."

The young witch shot her boyfriend a tiny smile before she shook her head. "She'll still be gone in those few minutes," Emily stated before she added with a shrug, "so, there's no real difference." The Gilbert girl took a step back to fix her black dress before Emily joked, "I don't think I'll ever be ready enough to say goodbye, so why not the present?" However, when Emily saw her boyfriend become even more worried about her, the Gilbert girl quickly added, "I'll be okay. I have you by my side."

The Salvatore vampire was concerned about how Emily was doing but he didn't comment on it. Instead, he leaned down and placed a soft kiss onto the brunette girl's forehead before he whispered against her warm skin, "yes, you do." Stefan titled his girlfriend's head up before he murmured, "I love you and I'm never going to leave your side."

Emily slowly nodded her head before she stood up on her tippy toes and placed a soft kiss onto her boyfriend's lips. "I know," the Gilbert girl whispered before she told him, "I love you, too."

The couple of the new Radkova witch and the Salvatore vampire stayed in each other's arms for another minute or two as they absorbed each other's comfort before Stefan linked their hands together and he lead them out of Elena's bedroom. Emily and Stefan silently walked out of the Gilbert house hand and hand before they began to walk through Mystic Falls. They traveled for about five minutes with the occasional use of the Salvatore vampire's speed before they finally arrived at Mystic Falls Cemetery.

The first person that took notice of the presence of the new witch happened to be one of Emily's best friends - Tyler Lockwood. The werewolf instantly headed over to the Gilbert girl and the Salvatore vampire before he instantly pulled the brunette girl into his arms. Tyler knew what it was like to lose someone close to him - despite the fact that he hadn't exactly liked his father and Emily had already lose her parents as well - so, he knew Emily just needed some sort of comfort.

Tyler didn't even think about asking his best friend if she was okay, though, because he already knew that she wasn't. Elena was Emily's other half. The Lockwood werewolf couldn't remember a time in their lives where he didn't see the Gilbert twins smiling, laughing, or joking around together, so he knew this had to be extremely difficult for Emily. The Lockwood werewolf didn't have any siblings himself but if he had to guess, it must be like Emily had lost a part of her heart with the death of her twin.

Tyler knew that words wouldn't be able to make his best friend feel better right now, so the brown eyed werewolf just continued to hold the Gilbert girl tightly in his chest while he lightly ran his hand down her back as for a form of comfort. The Lockwood teenager remembered back when he was struggling with his father's death and this was all he needed - to be held.

Tyler didn't need any words when millions of people were already giving him their condolences when he only wanted and needed that feeling of home and he always felt that way with Emily. The Lockwood teenager just hoped that he could do the same for Emily like she had done for him.

The young witch instantly felt her body relax for the second time in the last hour since she was in her boyfriend's arms when Tyler wrapped his warm body around hers. Emily gave the Lockwood teenager's waist a light squeeze after about two minutes or so had passed by before she slowly pulled away and looked into his brown irises. "Thank you," the Gilbert girl softly murmured as she knew that this was Tyler's way of showing her that he was there for her.

The Lockwood werewolf shot his best friend a wide smile from hearing her voice for the first time in the past few days before Tyler assured the Gilbert girl as he wiped a loose tear that was silently falling down the side of Emily's face, "you know I always got your back, Angel."

"I know," Emily whispered as she tried her best to hold in her strong emotions that she wanted to release right now. The Gilbert girl knew her emotions were all over the place from everything that has happened lately, so she knew that she would cry at just about anything at the moment. "I love you," Emily told her best friend and placed a gentle kiss onto his cheek as she silently thanked the Lockwood werewolf for being there for her.

Tyler's smile widened - if that wasn't even possible with his white teeth already on display. The Lockwood werewolf knew that Emily only meant her love in a best friend way, even though he wished it was the way that he loved her, but he would take it nonetheless. "I love you, too," Tyler told the Gilbert girl right back as he brought his hand up to rub across Emily's cold cheek while he purposely ignored the puzzled look Stefan was sending him.

The young witch gave Tyler a small smile as she stared into his comforting brown irises for a moment before she silently walked around him and headed over to the rest of her loved ones; Jeremy, Bonnie, Caroline, Jenna, Alaric, and Damon. The Gilbert girl immediately walked towards her last living sibling before she pulled her baby brother into a tight hug.

Emily released a shaky deep breath once she heard her brother instantly began to silently sob in her arms. "I'm right here," the young witch whispered to Jeremy as she ran her hand gently down his back. Emily knew that she needed to be strong for everyone like she usually was, so the Gilbert girl tried to hold in her tears while she comforted her brother as best as she could.

While the newest Radkova witch was comforting the youngest Gilbert, Alaric cleared his throat to gain everyone's attention before he stated as he looked at each face around Mystic Falls Cemetery, "I guess we can begin now that everyone is here." Alaric wasn't exactly sure how this was all supposed to go but he figured the person that was closest to the deceased should go first, so Alaric looked towards the eldest Gilbert sibling with a gentle gaze before he spoke to Emily, "the floor is yours when you're ready."

The Gilbert girl waited until Alaric had took his place back beside Jenna and wrapped his arm around her shoulder before she released a shaky deep breath and mumbled, "yeah, okay." Emily gave her brother's hand a small squeeze as a last minute comfort before she slowly approached her twin sister's tombstone for the first time.

"I can't believe I have to do this again," the Gilbert girl uttered as she placed her shaking hand onto the cold stone with a small chuckle escaping through her lips. "I think this is my second or third time that I had to say goodbye to you," Emily stated as if she was speaking directly to her twin sister. The young witch sluggishly shook her head before she commented, "and it never gets easier."

Emily briefly glanced away from her twin sister's tombstone as she tried to control her emotions but when she did, her green irises caught another tombstone that belonged to her biological father. "I didn't think I'd have to say goodbye to you so soon, either," the Gilbert girl quietly muttered. "I know we weren't really close as of lately but you were still my father," Emily continued as if she was speaking to John all the words she would never to say, "you were my uncle first and I always cared and loved you."

The Gilbert girl rubbed her hand slowly across her biological father's marble tombstone before she whispered to John for the last time as she praised his last act of this Earth, "thank you for trying to save Elena."

The new Radkova witch closed her green irises for a moment as to reign in her emotions that she knew would start acting up soon before she turned her attention back onto her twin sister's tomb. Emily released a small chuckle before she asked no one in particular, "where do I even begin?"

The Gilbert girl, once again, had to squeeze her green eyes closed when she could feel and hear the trees around her beginning to shake more than they should before she tried to speak to her twin sister once more. "I never realized just how close we truly were until now that you're not by my side anymore," Emily commented before she released an emotionless chuckle and added, "but now that I do know, it hurts so, so much."

"I know people joke around about how twins are able to feel one another's pain and can mentally communicate with one another," the Gilbert girl mentioned before she stated, "and I can tell you right now, it's completely true." Emily ignored the tears that were flowing down the sides of her cheeks as she whispered to her sister all of her emotions and feelings, "I haven't felt complete since you left us. I feel empty all the time and I hate it. I wish it would just stop. I wish I could go back and change everything to protect you better."

Emily shook her head as her eyebrows furrowed while she stared down at her twin sister's tomb before she mumbled as if it would help ease her guilt, "I should have been there all day with you instead of leaving." The Gilbert girl chewed on her bottom lip before she added as her vision became blurred with warm tears, "maybe... Maybe that would have saved your life."

"Emily, baby, you know you couldn't have stopped her death from happening no matter what you could have done," the younger Salvatore vampire interrupted his girlfriend as he used his enhanced speed to stand next to her. Stefan softly grabbed ahold of the Gilbert girl's hand before he explained as to why she was wrong, "Klaus would have gone after Jenna or even Jeremy. This was his plan all along. You can't blame yourself over something you couldn't control."

The young witch bowed her head in shame or embarrassment, Emily wasn't sure which one, before she sluggishly nodded her head in agreement. "Yeah, I know," the Gilbert girl mumbled while she easily shook Stefan's hand off of her as she didn't want to be touched right now as she was afraid that she would hurt someone. "I just wished that I could have somehow stopped this from happening," Emily muttered as she wiped the tears from her green irises, so she could see again.

The Gilbert girl gazed down to her twin sister's tombstone before she spoke directly to Elena once more with sorrow and anger in her voice, "I am so, so sorry that I couldn't save you, Lena. You deserved so much more than a death by a piece of shit." Emily briefly paused as she took a deep breath when she could feel emotions painfully rising to her chest before she shakily continued, "you deserved to be happy. You deserved to live your life. W-We were supposed to be by each other's side for so much longer than this."

Emily quietly swore to herself when she could feel the Earth around her beginning to shake from her new powers but, for the most part, she ignored them as she began to continue to speak to her twin sister while tears continued to drip down her cheeks and down her neck. The Gilbert girl shakily squatted down before she placed both of her hands onto Elena's tombstone and murmured, "I know I was your hero, but you were mine."

A tiny smile lifted onto Emily's lips for a moment as she softly told her twin sister, "you were so, so strong. I'm so proud of how much you had grown from the beginning of this year." The Gilbert girl bit down her bottom lip as she slowly shook her head before she commented, "I feel like I never told you enough, but I really am proud and blessed to have gotten to call you my twin sister - my other half."

"I'm just so, so sorry that I couldn't have helped you more," the young witch mumbled before a loud sob escaped from her lips and the Earth around her began to shake from the guilt that she felt. "I-I should have done more for you," Emily rambled through her cries as all of her emotions hurriedly slipped through her mouth, "I was supposed to be your older sister and protect you. I was supposed to keep you safe."

"Em, Angel, you can't do that to yourself," the Lockwood werewolf was the next one after Stefan to comfort the sobbing girl. Tyler moved to approach his best friend and stood beside the younger Salvatore on Emily's right side before he gently placed his hand onto her shaking back as he squatted down. "You know Elena didn't blame you for this, so you shouldn't either," Tyler softly murmured as he felt his heart break for his best friend.

The Gilbert girl immediately began to panic as she felt like she was being suffocated by her emotions and from someone touching her when she knew that her powers were seconds away from acting up. Emily didn't want to hurt anyone, so she quickly stood up and moved away from her best friend and boyfriend. "I-I can't do this," the young witch exclaimed as tears continued to fall down her face and the trees around her shook.

"I'm sorry," Emily shakily apologized as she glanced at each worried face around Mystic Falls Cemetery before she hurriedly turned around to rush away before she ended up hurting someone she loved.

However, before the Gilbert girl could get too far, though, Stefan quickly called out to his girlfriend, "Emily!" But when the young witch continued to walk away, the Salvatore vampire used his enhanced speed to get in front of her before she fully exited the cemetery. Stefan couldn't let Emily walk away like this. The green eyed vampire had been worried about her a lot lately, so he honestly couldn't find himself to let go alone with her guilty thoughts and let her suffer.

Emily looked up into her boyfriend's worried green eyes with tears clouding her own before she shook her head. "Please, I need to be alone right now," the Gilbert girl practically begged before she hurriedly turned around and rushed away before anyone else could try to stop her from leaving.

Emily didn't even try to stop the loud sobs that escaped from her lips as she jogged like she was being chased by an monster back to her home. The Gilbert girl knew it was pointless to try to keep her emotions inside, so she just let all the sobs that she had leave her mouth while everything around her continue to shake.

The young witch honestly felt like she was going in circles after a solid four minutes of running but, thankfully, after another minute or so, she somehow ended up back in front of her childhood home. Emily felt like she could finally breathe again as she sluggishly made her way up the porch and into the Gilbert house that smelled so much of her twin sister.

Emily felt that she always seemed to feel better when she was surrounded by her other half, so the brunette girl headed back into Elena's bedroom while tears continuously fell from her green irises. The new witch immediately released another loud and painful sob once she had entered the room.

"Please, make it stop," Emily gasped as she clutched her chest as if her heart was currently being ripped out - and that was exactly what it felt like for the mourning girl. Everything just hurt so much that Emily didn't know how to make it stop.

The Gilbert girl slowly slid her back down her twin sister's bedroom door as she continued to sob and wail for her missing half. Emily just let every emotion that she had out of her system - which ultimately shook the entire house and caused multiple things to fall off the walls inside different rooms of the Gilbert house.

Emily ignored all of the noises and destruction that she was causing with her new powers as she just continued to sob for the loss of her twin sister. The Gilbert girl's wailing continued for about another twenty minutes or so before Emily became so exhausted that her body would only allow silent tears to trickle down the sides of her cheeks.

Emily took a deep breath once she felt like she could breathe normally again before she wiped the wet tears from her reddened face and slowly stood up from the ground with shaky legs. While the Gilbert girl tried to keep all the tears and emotions at bay, Emily glanced around her twin sister's bedroom.

Emily couldn't help the tiny smile that instantly lifted onto her face when she spotted one of her sister's cheerleading trophies from seventh grade - the one that was painted blue to be exact. The brunette girl picked up the trophy and gently ran her thumb across the only part that wasn't painted which was Elena's name plate. Emily shook her head with a chuckle as she stared at the blue hue and immediately began to remember that weekend in Fairvale, California.

It was the first out of state competition that they had ever been apart of as young teenagers. It was during that period in time where Elena actually liked doing cheerleading. However, that wasn't the reason as to why Emily was recalling the good memory. In fact, it had absolutely nothing to do with the competition.

Emily remembered that memory so much because of what happened after they had won first place. She and Elena had snuck out to a carnival that they had heard from some girl from another school - where they met a lanky and awkward teenager named Stiles. The new witch remembered Stiles mentioning that he was from a few towns over and came along with his police chief father.

The reason why that night was always memorable was because as soon as they had arrived at the carnival, Stiles ended up spilling his large blueberry slushie all over Elena's grey Mystic Falls Junior High Timberwolves t-shirt. The awkward teenager had felt so bad about ruining Elena's shirt that he had bought all of their games for a sold hour.

The Gilbert twins enjoyed Stiles' company so much, that they ended up hanging out for another three hours until Emily decided that they should get back to the hotel before they were caught sneaking out. The trio wanted to stay in touch after having so much fun but, sadly, Emily ended up losing Stiles' number when she forgot the small piece paper in her hoodie and the washing machine erased it.

Despite the fact that she and Elena lost contact with someone that they could see being close friends with, it was still both hers and Elena's favorite memories from their time with the cheer squad. They had been practicing nonstop all weekend along with the long day of the competition, so it had been nice to have fun and relax like normal teenagers for awhile with their briefly new friend.

The Gilbert girl gently placed the trophy - that she and Elena had painted blue so they would remember that memory of Stiles spilling his drink all over her that resulted in them having fun - back onto her sister's dresser with a small smile still playing on her lips as the memory faded away.

Emily soon realized that she was slowly beginning to calm down a lot more as she glanced around the things in her sister's bedroom. It offered the Gilbert girl so much needed comfort as she recalled the happy memories behind the items. Emily ended up remembering three other memories from another plushie, a concert ticket, and an old photo from their childhood as she walked around her sister's bedroom before the young witch spotted Elena's leather jacket that was hanging across the back of her sister's white vanity chair.

The Gilbert girl let another small smile lift up onto her lips as she instantly remembered that she had gifted the jacket to Elena for Christmas a few years ago. Emily was curious as to why it was out as she recalled how Elena never wore it because she didn't think that she could pull off a black leather jacket but kept it because it meant a lot to her that Emily had gifted it to her.

However, Emily didn't think too much about why it lying out, though. She was more focused on feeling that comfort from her twin sister, so the Gilbert girl grabbed the leather jacket and slipped her arms through the sleeves. A bigger smile instantly widened across Emily's lips as she hugged the jacket to her chest and she could smell her other half's comforting scent.

The young witch slowly moved over to Elena's bed before she laid down as she took in as much of comfort as she could from the jacket that her sister had only worn a hand full of times. Emily honestly felt so much relief and calmness from the fact that she was surrounded by all things Elena. It felt like Emily could breathe again.

The Gilbert girl laid there in her sister's bed for a few minutes as she just soaked in the comfort of Elena's presence before Emily slipped her hands into the pockets of the jacket. However, Emily instantly furrowed her brows, though, when she felt that something was inside of the left pocket. The young witch couldn't help but to be curious to what it could be since Elena rarely wore the jacket, so Emily slowly pulled the item out of the pocket and lifted it to her face.

Emily soon realized that it a light purple sticky note and a plain white envelope. The Gilbert girl curiously brought the sticky note closer to her face before she read the words, 'how did I know you would put this on? - Elena.' The message from her deceased sister immediately caused for Emily to sit up in Elena's bed before she hurriedly ripped open the envelope. Emily's hand began to tremble when she realized that it was a letter from her twin sister.

Emmie,

If you are reading this right now, then it means Klaus won. I know you're probably wondering how I wrote this, huh? Klaus gave me an hour to decide who would be in the sacrifice between Jenna and myself, so I figured I would take a little time to say goodbye to you because there is no way I'm letting Jenna suffer. I hope you can understand why I'm choosing to do this. I can't be selfish and let Jenna die when her new life is just beginning.

I hope you won't be too angry at me for taking this route. I've been selfish for too long by letting you be the strong one during this whole wild supernatural experience that we seemed to always be wrapped in. I've learned from you to not be selfish. This is the right thing to do, I think.

You have saved me from having to be sacrificed in the past by trying to get taken and delivered to Klaus (I'm still not happy that you tried to give yourself to Elijah), so it's my time to follow your lead by not letting Jenna get used in the sacrifice.

I know you and Damon - and probably everyone else won't be happy but I know you will understand. I know you will understand why I'm willing to die today. It's for family. We were always taught by mom and dad to protect and take care of one another, so I thought it was about time I finally did what they taught us through our entire childhood.

I'm not gonna lie, I'm scared out of my mind. This isn't something I thought I would ever have to do - especially not so soon in my life. This kinda feels like I'm writing a suicide letter if I'm being honest. It's pretty scary. I don't know how you always put your life on the line like this. I guess that's why you have always been my hero.

This is probably extremely obvious, but I'm really going to miss you the most once this all finished tonight. We have always been attached at the hip since we were born, so it's scary to imagine that this next part in my life - wherever I do go - that I won't have you there with me. But I do know you will always be with there with me in spirit and you know I'll always be there for you, as well. I will always be there in the back of your mind whenever you need me.

I feel like this doesn't need to be said but knowing you, you will blame yourself, so listen closely - whatever happens tonight is not your fault. This is my decision. No one decided it for me, so, please, do not put any negative thoughts on your shoulders with what will happen soon. I take full responsibility and I will not let you blame yourself.

It's not like I can stop you or your thoughts, though, but I do hope that what I'm about to say will give you some sort of comfort. I'm doing this for you, Jenna, and everyone else in our lives. I'm being selfish, so Jenna can live her life. I need you to know that I don't blame you for any of this. I don't blame you for going away with Stefan during your last day. I don't blame you for anything.

Please don't think that this is your fault. This was my decision to make. I know you think that you have to protect me all of the time but sometimes, you just can't. Fate has a way of working out and this is just one of those times. You did everything that you could to protect me and I will forever be grateful for all of the times that you have kept me safe from the craziness in our lives.

I know I never really did show my gratitude after you kept me safe from Katherine, Elijah, Isobel, or any of the other vampires who came into our lives but I've always been thankful for everything that you have ever done to keep me protected. I will forever be grateful for you, I hope you know that.

You are my person, my other half, my twin sister, my best friend. I love so, so much - never forget that. And you may be the oldest one, but I'm very proud of you. I'm proud to call you my sister and I wouldn't want to have it any other way. You are my hero. You have inspired me so much over the years and have helped shape me to who I am today, so thank you. Thank you for being the best big sister I could have asked for. Thank you for being my personal protector throughout our lives. Thank you for just being you, Emily.

I hope, someday, you will be able to move forward after what happens tonight. I hope you all can. The one thing I ask for you is that you try to be happy. I don't want you to dwell on my death or go into self-hatred mode of guilt. I want you to look at today as me doing what is right for my family. I want you to be proud that I wasn't selfish for once. I want you to be happy and I want you to get everything that you deserve in this world.

I will always love you and I will always be right by your side. You may not be able to see or feel me but I will be right there with you whenever you decide that you need me. I'm sorry that this is how our story goes but it'll be okay. It might take some time but one day, you will be happy again. But, for now, remember this - I love you. You are the best sister I could have ever asked for. Be strong, fight, and never give up.

Love, Elena

Emily felt her heart break all over again as she released the loudest and most painful sobs that she had ever experienced as her sister's letter slipped through her fingers and fell to the hard floor. The letter had just made the Gilbert girl realize that this was all final. This was the last words that she would ever hear from her twin sister.

Emily felt completely destroyed that her other half wouldn't be coming back no matter how much the Gilbert girl wished and prayed. And despite Elena's words, the young witch couldn't help but to feel guilty that she hadn't done more to protect her twin sister. Emily knew, like Elena said, that she couldn't have done anything but she just felt like she didn't do enough for her other half.

The Gilbert girl couldn't help but continue to sob for Elena, for the guilt and regret that she felt, for how she felt like a failure for not being able to protect her sister from the hybrid. Emily pulled her knees up into her chest and rested her head onto her thighs as she cried and sobbed while everything around her began to fall off of the walls. Emily didn't know what else she was supposed to do but cry and mourn for the lost of her other half.

The young witch had no clue as to how long that she had been crying, but she did know it was enough that there was now nothing left on Elena's bedroom walls to fall. However, a few moments after Emily had finally stopped crying, something happened that would change everything.

Emily felt like this was this unknown being sitting on the forefront of her brain - like a devil on her shoulder. The voice inside of her head just kept on asking and asking if she wanted the pain to stop. Emily knew that she should probably ignore the voice since she didn't know who it was nor did she know if it was a bad thing that she was hearing this voice in her head but Emily was just filled with so much sadness that she didn't even think twice before she said yes to the voice.

The deep voice inside of the young witch's head instantly commanded, "end it."

"How?" The Gilbert girl hurriedly inquired while she hiccuped through her shaky words, "how do I make it stop?"

"Chant these words and it will all go away," the voice that slowly got deeper and more sinister - something that Emily didn't notice - commanded before the voice said the magical words, "hе се чувствайте повече. Не се чувствайте повече. Включете този превключвател. Чувствата изчезнаха." [Feel no more. Feel no more. Flip that switch. Feelings gone.]

Emily didn't even think to question about why the words were in some language that she didn't understand nor did she ask what they meant. Instead, she obliviously did what the devil on her shoulder told her to do as she uttered the unknown words out loud. The Gilbert girl didn't know how this would all work but she was pleasantly surprised when as soon as she chanted the words one time, a calmness instantly settled in her chest.

Emily felt normal again. Nothing was hurting in Emily's body. She just felt like nothing mattered anymore and Emily didn't question it one bit. The young witch had originally thought the spell or whatever she had done would just get rid of the feelings from her sister's death but now that she didn't feel anything at all, Emily absolutely loved it.

A wide smirk slowly lifted up onto the Radkova witch's face as she wiped the tears from her cheeks and stood up from Elena's bed before she carelessly took off her sister's leather jacket and let it fall down to the ground. Emily then walked over to her twin sister's vanity and looked at her appearance with a slight twitch of her head.

Emily felt like a new person, so she decided that she would change it up a bit as she haphazardly looked through her deceased sister's makeup before she grabbed the dark purple lipstick that Elena had used for her Halloween costume a few years ago. The young witch perfectly fixed the deep color across her originally nude lips before her smirk widened in the mirror.

"I wonder what kind of fun I can get into," the newly improved Emily mused out loud before she turned around and strutted out of Elena's bedroom to start her radical existence.
