The world was dark for the Radkova witch for what felt like days before she finally found herself waking up. Emily was instantly confused when she found herself on the ground in the middle of nowhere. Emily released a small groan as she slowly pushed herself up from the dead grass before she puzzledly looked around her surroundings. Emily furrowed her brows when she realized that she didn't even know where she was nor did she know how she got here.
"Hello?" The Gilbert girl loudly called out to anyone that would hear her as she began to walk across the empty field. Emily only had the chance to take a few steps forward before she suddenly heard a loud swooshing of a vampire coming her way before Emily felt arms wrap tightly around her body. Emily panicked at first but when she smelt her boyfriend's familiar woody scent, she instantly relaxed her limbs.
"Thank God I found you," Stefan murmured into his girlfriend's blonde hair as he squeezed her into his body. Stefan, when he had woken up in this place, found himself at the Salvatore boarding house all alone. He had searched all over Mystic Falls for the human girl for over three hours before this was his last stop and he, thankfully, found his girlfriend.
Meanwhile as Stefan was feeling relief, the Gilbert girl was still confused. "What's... What's going on?" Emily puzzledly inquired after she pushed herself out of Stefan's arms and looked into her boyfriend's green eyes. Emily glanced around their surroundings with her brows pulled together as she questioned, "where are we? Why did I wake up in the middle of nowhere?"
The Salvatore vampire released a heavy sigh when he realized that Emily didn't recognize the location - which meant that Emily also didn't know that the sacrifice had already taken place and everything that happened after it. "This... This is Steven's Quarry," Stefan gently began as he linked his fingers with his girlfriend's warmer ones. He let that information sink in before he cautiously told Emily, "and this where the sacrifice was taken."
If it was even possible, Emily's brows furrowed even further as she grew even more puzzled. "Was taken?" The Gilbert girl slowly repeated her boyfriend's words before she inquired for clarification, "you mean the sacrifice has already happened?"
Emily couldn't even wait for the Salvatore vampire's answer as she shook her head before she mumbled as she closed her green eyes in confusion, "why can't I remember?" The Gilbert girl quickly looked back up at her boyfriend before she interrogated as she tried to understand what has happened, "where's Elena? Did Elijah kill Klaus? He's gone, right?"
Stefan released a heavy deep breath as stared across at his girlfriend with sadness throughout his green irises as he knew he had to tell the Gilbert girl the truth about what went on at this location. "Something... something happened after the sacrifice when you turned into the Radkova witch," the Salvatore vampire gently began to explain, "you were overcome by so much grief and sadness that you ended up turning off your emotions."
The only thing that would stick in Emily's mind from her boyfriend's explanation was that one single word - grief. Emily felt so much dread from that five letter word. The Gilbert girl was usually right when she had that bad feeling, so she knew something horrible did happen. "Is... Is Lena gone?" Emily cautiously asked as she was afraid of her boyfriend's answer.
Stefan stared across at his girlfriend with tears clouding his green eyes as he silently nodded his head. "She didn't make it," the Salvatore vampire whispered.
Emily's green eyes were also instantly filled with tears as she heard those dreaded words that she never wanted to hear when it had to deal with her twin sister. Emily couldn't control the sobs that started to escape from her throat as she let those words settle in. "What's happening?" The Gilbert girl cried as her whole body shook before she quickly asked as she began to panic, "why can't I remember what happened here? Why can't I remember my own sister dying?"
Emily glanced around the field with her brows furrowed as tears continued to block her vision but Emily didn't care at the moment. "I can only remember our date together. I can't remember anything after it," the Gilbert girl mumbled before she focused her crazed and panicked green eyes onto her boyfriend before she inquired with tears trailing down her warm cheeks, "what the hell have I've been doing since I turned everything off? Why didn't I try to bring my sister back?"
The Salvatore vampire immediately wrapped his arms around the broken girl before he held her tightly into his chest as he tried to offer her some type of comfort right now. "You've been repressing your memories ever since you put that block on your emotions after her funeral," Stefan gently explained as Emily sobbed into his chest. "The only way to return to your original self and get your feelings back is for you relive what happened that night and accept that they happened," Stefan continued to explain.
Emily quickly pushed her body out of her boyfriend's arms as she hurriedly shook her head. "I can't do that," the Gilbert girl panickily mumbled as she stepped away from the Salvatore vampire, "I-I can't watch Lena die. No. No, I can't." Emily didn't think she would survive if she had to watch her twin sister, her other half die in front of her - especially when that was the reason she had turned off her emotions to begin with.
"Hey, hey," the Salvatore vampire exclaimed as he quickly grabbed ahold of Emily's hand before she could run away from him and the task of bringing her back to her regular self. "I'll be right here with you. You aren't alone," Stefan softly promised as he squeezed both of her hands with his colder ones. "No matter what happens, I'll protect you, okay? I got you, always," the Salvatore vampire assured his girlfriend.
Emily took a shaky deep breath as she stared into her boyfriend's calming green eyes. The Gilbert girl was honestly so afraid of what she was going to have to witness. Emily didn't want to see her baby sister die nor did she want to know what she did while she was with her emotions off. However, Emily trusted her boyfriend. If Stefan said that everything would be okay and that he was going to stand by her side through it all, then she believed him.
The Gilbert girl briefly closed her green eyes as she tried to prepare herself for what she was supposed to see. Once Emily felt this easiness surround her heart, the Gilbert girl was instantly pulled into this dark tunnel before she felt her body land back at the quarry but it wasn't empty this time.
It was now lit up by three rings of fire. Emily's green eyes instantly widened when she saw herself and her twin sister looking at one another. "Elena," the Gilbert girl gasped before she went to run towards her twin sister but Stefan quickly wrapped his arms around her waist as he stopped her from taking another step.
"This isn't real," Stefan reminded his girlfriend before he explained while he continued to hold her in his arms, "this is just one of your memories. There is nothing you can do to stop what is happening."
"I have to try!" Emily exclaimed in denial as she quickly pushed herself out of the Salvatore vampire's arms before she ran across the quarry. "Elena!" The Gilbert girl called out once she was only a few feet away from her twin sister. However, Elena didn't respond like she thought her sister would. It was as if Elena couldn't even hear her.
"Lena!" The Radkova witch tried once more as she shouted to the Gilbert vampire. However, Emily could only stand there in shock as she watched as Klaus approached her twin sister and she was forced to watch the scene play out.
Klaus slowly and cockily strutted over to his vampire with a smirk shining brightly across his pink tinted lips as if he didn't have a care in the world. "Your turn, love," the hybrid informed Elena once he was standing only a few inches away from the anxious-looking Gilbert vampire.
Emily honestly couldn't help the tears that freely began to pour down the side of her reddened cheeks no matter how much she tried to stop them as she watched as Klaus was face to face with her twin sister. "I love you, Elena," the Gilbert girl told her other half before she sobbed during her last moment with her twin, "I am so proud of who you have become. It's you and me forever, okay?"
The Gilbert vampire stared across at her twin sister with a watery smile displayed across her chapped lips before she softly murmured, "I love you, too." Elena nodded her head as she affirmed what the human girl had said before she voiced it as well as she stated, "forever."
Elena wiped the hot tears that were clouding her brown irises before she promised, "we're going to be okay." The Gilbert vampire took a deep breath as she tried to be as confident as she needed to be before she whispered, "I know what I need to do." Elena stared across at the human girl for a moment more as if she was trying to remember her twin before Elena slowly closed her eyes and flipped that dreaded switch inside of her.
The human Petrova doppelganger couldn't help but release a small gasp as she watched as her sister opened up her brown eyes and looked completely emotionless. Emily thought that she was looking at Katherine right now instead of the sweet and easy-going Elena Gilbert.
Emily was honestly a nervous wreck as she watched as her now emotionless twin sister was staring across at the feared hybrid in a very tense silence. "Come on, Elena," the Gilbert girl whispered, mostly to herself, as she prayed that Elena could survive this and get somewhere safe, "just fight."
The emotionless Gilbert vampire didn't even react to her sister's voice as she was only focused on the fact that she was in danger and that she needed to escape. Elena was in complete fight or flight mode as soon as that worried part of her brain was shut off about Emily and that was exactly what she needed at the moment.
Elena didn't spare her twin sister a second glance as she was ready to do anything to survive before she used her enhanced speed to push Klaus as hard as she could onto the ground. The Gilbert vampire knew there would be no sacrifice if there was no witch, so as soon as Klaus was flat on his back, Elena vamp sped up to Greta before she took a large bite from her neck.
Hey, I was hungry, Elena amusingly thought to herself as she began to suck the blood from the witch's neck. However, sadly for Elena, she only had the chance to take a single bite and a tiny sip out of Greta before she recognized Emily yelling out, "run," before she felt her body being tossed roughly onto the ground with a stake planted into her back.
The Gilbert vampire instantly released a loud groan once her body stopped rolling on the hard ground along with the fact that there was a wooden stake poking out of her lower back. It took a minute or two of Elena gaining her bearings from being rag dolled around by Klaus before the Gilbert vampire finally dislodged the stake from her body. "Well, that hurt," Elena pouted as she tossed the bloody weapon across the quarry.
"Elena! Run!" The human Petrova doppelganger continued to shout to her emotionless sister even louder than she had been doing once she saw that Klaus had thrown her. "Get the hell up and run!" Emily frantically screamed as she was so afraid that the more that Elena didn't move, the more chances that Klaus could get to her.
The Gilbert girl knew that her twin sister wasn't at her strongest anymore since she had been staked, so Emily knew that she needed to do something to give Elena some time to get her bearings back. Emily also knew there wasn't a lot that she could do when she was still trapped inside her ring of fire, so Emily decided that she would give Elena as much time as she could while she distracted Klaus with her words.
"Come on, Klaus!" The human Petrova doppelganger loudly called out to the obviously angry hybrid. "You know you want me the most!" Emily taunted the hybrid as she tried to distract him as best as she could while her twin sister tried to pull herself up from the ground. "Kill me right now!" The Gilbert girl yelled with tears continuously falling down her cheeks as fear absorbed every inch of her body.
"Wait your turn, sunflower," Klaus growled out to his doppelganger and without even giving Emily a second glance. The angry hybrid used his enhanced speed to rush to the Gilbert vampire before he pulled Elena up until she standing in front of him. "Nice try, love, but no one can defeat me," Klaus uttered with a wide and wicked smirk shining across his lips before he used the stake that he had picked up from the ground and pierced it into Elena's chest.
"NO! ELENA!" The Gilbert girl screamed out like a banshee as her green eyes widened in complete and utter shock. Emily slowly fell down to her knees at the same time as she watched Elena's body turn grey and she took her last breath. Emily honestly felt like she couldn't breathe anymore now that her other half's life was ripped away from her. The Gilbert girl couldn't even begin to describe the pain that she felt as she sobbed for her twin sister.
"No, no, no, no!" Emily cried over and over again. "You shouldn't have been here! I was supposed to protect you," the Gilbert girl ranted and belittled herself as she continued to sob for the lost of her twin sister, "why didn't I protect you from this? I should have known this would happen!"
The heartbroken human girl shakily shook her head as tears carelessly poured down the side of her cheeks and down her neck while she chanted over and over again, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry." Emily grasped onto the Earth from underneath her as if she was trying to ground herself from losing someone so important to her.
"Oh, my God," the real Emily gasped after she was forced to watch her twin sister die in front of her. There was instantly hot tears falling down the sides of her cheeks as she continued to watch the aftermath of Elena dying. Emily couldn't even begin to stop the shaky sobs that were forced out of her body no matter how hard she tried. The Gilbert girl just felt so much pain in her chest. This single memory was forcing Emily remember everything that led up to this moment and it just made everything so much worse.
Stefan silently approached his hurting girlfriend before he gently pulled her into his chest. "I'm so sorry you had to see that again," Stefan apologized as he wrapped his arms protectively around the Gilbert girl as to shield her from the memories of the sacrifice.
There was nothing the Gilbert girl could do at the moment but sob as she listened to her own death while her face was pushed into her boyfriend's comforting chest. However, after watching and listening to what was happening from the sacrifice caused for this small crack in the wall around her heart which allowed other memories to flood her head.
This crack in the wall that surrounded her feelings and memories allowed Emily to also remember going to the other side after her death and talking to her sister for the last time along with getting the chance to speak with Maria and her doppelganger, Darina. The Gilbert girl barely had enough time to absorb those memories before she was suddenly pulled into that dark tunnel again and into another memory of finding out that John had died trying to save Elena.
The Gilbert girl released another loud sob in her boyfriend's arms as she realized that she had lost more than just her twin sister the night of the sacrifice. Emily may didn't really like John but he was still her biological father or her uncle, so his death still affected Emily - especially when John lost his life trying to protect her sister.
Emily could only shed a few tears for her biological father for a minute or so before the Radkova witch was instantly pulled into another memory in a new setting. Emily slowly pushed herself out of her boyfriend's arms before she glanced around her surroundings.
The Gilbert girl realized that they were currently in Elena's bedroom at their childhood home. Emily saw herself reading some type of letter before she started to sob. The real Emily leaned her body against the far wall of Elena's bedroom with the Salvatore vampire's cold fingers laced through her warm ones before she began to watch what happened.
Emily felt like there was this unknown being sitting on the forefront of her brain - like a devil on her shoulder. The voice inside of her head just kept on asking and asking if she wanted the pain to stop. Emily knew that she should probably ignore the voice since she didn't know who it was nor did she know if it was a bad thing that she was hearing this voice in her head but Emily was filled with so much sadness that she didn't even think twice before she said yes to the voice.
The deep voice inside of the young witch's head instantly commanded, "end it."
"How?" The Gilbert girl hurriedly inquired while she hiccupped through her shaky words, "how do I make it stop?"
"Chant these words and it will all go away," the voice that slowly got deeper and more sinister - something that Emily didn't notice - commanded before the voice said the magical words, "hе се чувствайте повече. Не се чувствайте повече. Включете този превключвател. Чувствата изчезнаха." [Feel no more. Feel no more. Flip that switch. Feelings gone.]
Emily didn't even think to question about why the words were in some language that she didn't understand nor did she ask what they meant. Instead, she obliviously did what the devil on her shoulder told her to do as she uttered the unknown words out loud. The Gilbert girl didn't know how this would all work but she was pleasantly surprised when as soon as she chanted the words one time, a calmness instantly settled in her chest.
Emily felt normal again. Nothing was hurting in Emily's body. She just felt like nothing mattered anymore and Emily didn't question it one bit. The young witch had originally thought the spell or whatever she had done would just get rid of the feelings from her sister's death but now that she didn't feel anything at all. Emily absolutely loved it.
Emily frowned as she watched her past self walk out of her sister's bedroom with absolutely zero emotion on her face. "I can't believe I would do that to all of you," the Gilbert girl murmured as she glanced up to her boyfriend with tears clouding her green eyes.
Emily honestly couldn't even begin to understand what she was thinking when she turned everything off and just let her family and loved ones deal with the death of her twin sister all alone. Emily always prided herself in making sure her loved ones were okay over herself, so she was lost over what went through her mind to do this to everyone around her who was also dealing with the same lost.
"You were in mourning," the Salvatore vampire reminded his girlfriend as he placed his hand onto the back of Emily's head and brought her into his chest. "You had the closest relationship to her, so it's understandable that you would have the hardest time," Stefan softly murmured. "No one blames you, baby," the Salvatore vampire assured his girlfriend, "you thought that was right thing for you at the moment. You had no idea what would happen afterwards."
The Salvatore vampire's words about what she did after she turned everything off made this click inside of Emily's head before she was suddenly overcome by her memories from after she had flipped the switch. Emily's mind was instantly filled with all of the bad things that she had done with her emotions off.
It was so much to take in that Emily felt her body falling to the ground from all of these memories but, thankfully, the Salvatore vampire quickly pulled her tightly into his chest and held her close. Emily could only sob and cry as she remembered herself freezing people to death, being a bitch towards her loved ones who were only trying to help her, kissing other people, the witches constantly punishing her from going against what Darina always wanted for her - everything that she was now regretting.
"I'm so, so sorry," Emily apologized and sobbed into her boyfriend's chest after she finally remembered all of the shitty things that she had done. "Please don't hate me," the Gilbert girl begged as she held onto Stefan's waist for dear life as if she was afraid that he would leave her for everything that she has done.
"I could never hate you," Stefan quickly assured his girlfriend as he calmly ran his fingers through her tangled blonde locks. "You were just trying to deal with her death the best way you could and no one blames you for that," the Salvatore vampire softly murmured into Emily's ear while he continued to hold and comfort his girlfriend as she continued to sob into his chest.
Stefan was honestly the last person in the world that had a right to judge the Gilbert girl over what she had done with her emotions were off when he did things a billion times worst than what Emily had done.
"We all are just going to be happy that you are back," Stefan assured his girlfriend as he continued to run his fingers through her platinum blonde hair, "no one is going to be mad at you, I promise."
"Yes, they will," Emily argued as she loudly sobbed against her boyfriend's chest. "Damon is definitely going to hate me for how I treated him and what I said about my own twin," the Gilbert girl cried out as she remembered all of the horrible things that she told her sister's boyfriend and how horribly she treated him.
"Damon couldn't hate you even if he tried," Stefan lightly chuckled as he thought about the soft spot that his brother had for his girlfriend. Damon may try to be rude and tough around everyone else but it was obvious that Emily had him wrapped around her finger even though they both don't see it.
The Salvatore vampire gently grabbed Emily's face between his cold palms as he forced her to look up at him. "Baby, stop being so hard on yourself," Stefan begged as he ran his thumb across his girlfriend's cheeks to wipe away her warm tears. "No one blames you for everything that happened," Stefan swore, once again, "I promise we just wanted to get you back."
Emily sighed as she stared up at her boyfriend before she mumbled, "if you say so." The Gilbert girl, herself, didn't believe what her boyfriend was saying. She didn't see how anyone would forgive her for what she did but she would accept it for now if it would take her back to her normal self.
"Everything will be okay. I'll be here for you through it all," Stefan promised as he ran his thumb across his girlfriend's cheek. The Salvatore vampire smiled softly when he felt Emily's figures slowly relax in his embrace.
"I'll always stand by your side," Stefan swore as he stared down at his girlfriend. "I love yo-" the Salvatore vampire had began to say before everything suddenly began to shake around them like the ground was about to fall from underneath them.
Emily tightly gripped onto the Salvatore vampire's arms when she felt her knees buckle from underneath her. "What's happening?!" The Gilbert girl questioned in panic as she moved her green eyes all around Elena's bedroom. It honestly looked like an earthquake was happening around them.
Stefan had his green eyes furrowed as he noticed portions of Elena's bedroom was disappearing in front of them but was leaving them alone while they were against the far wall. "I-I don't know," the Salvatore vampire mumbled in confusion before he quickly focused his eyes onto his girlfriend when he felt Emily trembling in his arms.
"Hey, hey, hey," Stefan gently muttered as he protectively wrapped his arms around his girlfriend's body and hugged her tightly to his chest. "I got you. I'll protect you," the Salvatore vampire assured Emily, even though he wasn't so sure as the Elena's bedroom crumbled around them.
"I lov-" The Gilbert girl could barely tell her boyfriend before the ground beneath them finally broke into pieces and they were overcome by complete darkness. Emily could only scream while Stefan continued to hold her in his chest before numbness and darkness took over everything she knew.
