it was around 2019 in the post tragedy world Junko's death shook many despairs the higher ups wanted to hold out but others on the despair faction saw the writing on the wall, of course how you reacted depended on which faction you where in there where many sub classes of despair at this time but to simplify it to the two major players of this tale; the Omio which were mostly a group of despairs who didn't necessarily follow the ideals more "when in Rome do the roman" and did all the crimes they could get away with because since the world was ending they could, and the remnants of despair, made by the ultimate despair herself aka the people who actually did the bad despair crimes. During this year in the tragedy the future foundation was officially fighting a downhill battle, most Omio saw the writing on the wall and surrendered knowing since they weren't full despairs they would probably be ok as most wars go, as long as you didn't do war crimes you got off relatively well, you know besides the war trauma and wounds. Of course, remnants of despair wouldn't do that because they actually did war crimes. So as the months went by more Omio surrendered and went back to normal social life while remnants continued fighting the bad fight. And it's of this group of Omio and remnants in the island of Enoshima that our story begins.
Enoshima island was a small offshore island at the mouth of the Katase River which flows into the Sagami Bay of Kanagawa Prefecture. Home to some of the closest sandy beaches to Tokyo and Yokohama, the island and adjacent coastline are the hub of a local resort area.
that is until the despair took over, in which remnants invaded the island and took it for the ultimate despair, the people only managing to live if they plague their loyalty to despair.
On this island is the focus of or story, castle Rakutan. It was an old castle landmark of Enoshima island but whenever the despairs took over they took much of the land and landmarks for themselves. The castle being its crowning jewel not only for its looks but also its fortification. And while it was originally a base of operations, in the beginning of the school life of mutual killing it became used as a prison for special interest. Some of these special interests include but aren't limited to the mother and father of the ultimate hope, Kohei Matsudaira, the Japanese prime minister Shinzo Abe, Taro also a woman by the name of kudan along with wvba boxing champion Kabu "king hippo" Togami. But despite the nature of despairs the prisoners of castle Rakutan where treated quite well. The despair knew the beneficial nature of them being in good health to use them for leverage later. Note from prisoners of castle Rakutan state it being very bizarre, sure they couldn't leave but each had their own room, a free roam of the hallways, they could even go out to the courtyard and exercise if they wanted. And sure, the guards would be rude if they were too extraneous, most prisoners said the guards tried to be there friends. Another note is that. All the prisoners hated each other with different political beliefs and pro or anti hope sentiment, so the guards never had to worry about an escape because none of the prisoners could get along long enough to plan something.
Since this was a prison it was run by lesser remnants of despair so the head was a man named Fujisawa. And as the battle raged on things at the castle got more tumultuous. It started slowing with the supply lines getting slow so instead of using a generator the castle began to use candles. But near the end the prisoners had a meeting with Fujisawa and asked if things got bad would they be executed. To which he responded
"it would not be in my interest I am already gonna get in trouble for being a despair it be worse if I executed a bunch of important people near the end of the war for no reason"
he even promised if it came to it he would see they had a way out…
this was a lie
as things got worse the castle became a checkpoint for remnants trying to escape the future foundation. but then one day a remnant of despair came to castle Rakutan who ordered the execution of all the prisoners in the castle and then killed himself.
on a lighthearted note the village of Enoshima island that was ruled over by the despair and when the despairs tried to bury the remnant in the village the leader of the village fought them and burred the remnant in an unmarked grave outside the village
this was the beginning of the Enoshima island revolution!
(they really should change the name after this is all over I tell you if they keep calling this island Enoshima after the tragedy that's like Germany having a place called Hitler town after world war II)
it was at that point hearing the news Fujisawa decided to get out and doge despite the prisoners protest you know since the whole.
"If it came to it he would see they had a way out"
in which instead he just made sure they were guarded. And by guarded he means he while running away he met with a defected injured remnant named Benzaiten they no longer believed in the ideals of despair but with their title Fujisawa asked him to continue being a remnant and protect the castle. Alone
After Fujisawa left, every other guard left as well. So here we are an entire castle full of prisoners and one defected remnant and that was it. It was then the prisoners came to a conclusion, because the despair are not the type to just leave a castle to itself they would either storm in and kill everyone to take the castle back, or just for the sake of despair. So, the prisoners broke into the armory and began to arm themselves. But they were smart enough to know they couldn't fight despairs by themselves. So, they began to make a plan.
At this time thanks to a helpful source (see super depravity brothers for more info) The future foundation went on the island and began to take it back for hope. So naturally they'd be on their way to save them, all the prisoners needed to do was go and find them. At this the prisoners sent a man by the name of Miles Vulpin the ultimate engineer who was transfer to the castle near the end of the war because the castle needed an electrician (and soda refused to come back for the 5th time to fix minor electrical work when there was a war and despair brewing) so a prisoner was more convenient. So, on that day miles were sent off with the message that if he sees the future foundation to tell them where they are so they can be saved. On his way he bumped into Enoshima island freedom fighters who were fighting the despair to take bake there island, who miles told his plight to. In which he met their leader Engi Gozuryu a high-ranking fighter of the Omio faction who agreed to fight with the despair in the beginning of the war for his islands safety but near the end defected and began to fight back with the freedom fighters against the remnants. Engis forces where himself, 20 Omio forces along with the Enoshima island freedom fighters. So, miles explains how there are prisoners in the castle and the remnants would probably kill them. Engi states he doesn't have enough forces to help but he knows who does! So, he tells miles to go one direction where the Future foundation is sure to be while he goes the other direction.
miles eventually finds the FF and explains everything so they travel back to the castle guns blazing but then bumped into a battle where Enoshima island freedom fighters were battling remnants of despair. All the while Engi goes to a nearby village with a white flag and meets with an army asking for help with his plight
and that's where he meets the man
the myth
the legend
ROGER RYAN JASON WHITE!
ALL AMARICAN HERO
born in Japan.
Rodger decides to go fight to free the prisoners with his lieutenant Ennin, so we got some Future foundation people and Omio people on their way to the castle but then see a camp of remnants
empty
they were on their way to the castle
the remnants even wired the only bridge of the castle to blow! Thankfully the Omio who know how to handle remnant tech are able to safely deactivate it and Rodger leaves a tank to defend the position
But Ennin refuses to be left behind while Rodger goes to the castle so he puts someone in charge of his tank while he hops on Rodgers
so, we got 1 tank seven hope soldiers Engi and his 20 Omio soldiers, while closing in on the castle they face remnants who are making a roadblock shooting begins Rodger says for them to gun it they run up the road and make their way to the castle and when they finally arrive the prisoners are not thrilled.
at all
here they are afraid of a despair attack they send miles to get help and instead of him coming back there's
7 Future foundation (hopes) members,
1 tank,
20 Omios (despairs),
NO way to get out of the castle
and Miles isn't even there!
fun fact the Japanese prime minister said Engi was very polite and kind while Rodger was "crude in both looks and manners"
so, Rodger places his tank in the entrance to block people walking in then they got food and opened the wine cellar and had a party
because at times like this you got to smile at despair in the name of hope. Something both the hope and despair could agree with
so, then all the soldiers took defensive positions for when the remnants attacked.
the plan was to wait there for when the Future foundation eventually came
at that's when the remnants attacked
such a big battle as the hopes the despairs and the prisoners all worked together to battle the remnants, and that's when the epic fight music happened
5th of May, is just around the corner
2019 the Despair's reign is at its end
Jenny at the gates, as the Remnants open fire
There´s no time to waste, the final battle has begun
After the downfall, a castle besieged
Facing the Remnants awaiting relief
Rodger and Engi and their men set the prisoners free
An it's the end of the line of the final journey
Enemies leaving the past
And it's Future Foundation and the Omio army
Joining together at last
One last fight, it's the death throes of the Tragedy
Justice shall be done, the final battle remains
Ammo is running low, they're depleting their machine guns
Every bullet counts until surrender is announced
After the downfall, a castle relieved
Defeating the Remnants who held them besieged
Rodger and Engi and their men set the prisoners free
An it's the end of the line of the final journey
Enemies leaving the past
And it's Future Foundation and the Omio army
Joining together at last
From the island of Enoshima to the shores of the sea
From the island of Enoshima to the shores of the sea
From the hope of the brave, from the despair of the free
From the island of Enoshima to the shores of the sea
An it's the end of the line of the final journey
Enemies leaving the past
And it's Future Foundation and the Omio army
Joining together at last
An it's the end of the line of the final journey
Enemies leaving the past
And it's Future Foundation and the Omio army
Joining together at last
but then it became sad as engi Gozuryu was killed by remnant sniper fire
so the battle continued, and one would be inclined to ask.
WERE THE HECK IS MILES?
well at this time miles and the Future foundation lead by Makoto (because no way is he going to sit out a rescue mission to save his parents!) had reached the bridge that was being guarded by the Ennins tank, but Makoto couldn't get into contact with Rodger (since the tank radio blew up during the castle battle) but then one of the Omio said
"Have you tried using the phone?"
because the castle had a phone line that led directly to the Enoshima village so Makoto calls the castle and in the middle of the castle shoot out everyone stops as they hear a phone ringing much to there confusion with 3/4ths a mind to ignore it until one prisoner by the name of Mr. Naegi picks up the phone because only a Naegi could act completely normal in the most bizarre of situations
Mr. Neagi: hello?
Makoto: is Rodger there?
Mr. Neagi: let me get him for you.
Makoto: thank you.
Mr. Naegi: what a polite young man he sounded familiar.
He then shouted to Rodger.
"it's for you!"
and then Rodger picking up the phone discusses the situation with Makoto
Rodger explains the situation to Makoto and the Future foundation begins to make their way to the castle.
it was very tense as the remnants got closer it would take a while for Makoto's troops to get there as the way was very confusing with many paths so Kabu "king hippo" Togami the boxer asked Rodger if he could make a run for it to guide the tanks to the castle Rodger gives the thumbs up so as soon as the gunfire hits Kabu vaults over the castle wall and runs through the woods past several remnants of despair AND SURVIVED all while wearing a bright orange gym suit.
so he sprints several miles finds the Future foundation leads them to the castle meanwhile Rodger is preparing for the worst as ammo is lowering he orders them to go in the castle and wait with knives
when asked after the battle he said his plan was if they ran out of ammo to take knives or fight with their fist all while they take strategus positions in the castles keep, Afterall that's what they were built for so might as well get medieval
It was late, the ammo was running dry, and there's scared prisoners and despairs with knives the remnants finally made it to the front gate ready to storm in the court yard but then…there stopped by none other than…
MAKOTO MOTHER LOVEING NAEGI! And the Future foundation
so, then the remnants of despair fled.
at that Rodger went up to Makoto with blank expression looked them in the eye and said "so, what kept yah?" then they all laughed it off.
so, then the wounded were treated, and Makoto and the others had a heart felt long awaited reunion with their family's
and that was the battle of castle Rakutan a fight where hope and despair worked together to save the lives of many, in a medieval castle, on an island, with the same last name as the person who destroyed the world, how fun.
