A pup woke up to a new day. She got up, grabbed the note she had written the previous day, and left her room before heading to the lobby, where she dropped off the note on a table. She looked around the resort one last time, admiring it and the memories she had made there, before leaving the resort, toward what she hoped was her moment of revenge.
As she walked away from the resort, she was beginning to hesitate again. Something inside her was telling her not to do it, so she tried to ignore it. She wouldn't accept these feelings that were beginning to grow for that traitor.
She soon disappeared into the snow, leaving her new friends behind.
At the lookout
It was a new day in Adventure Bay, all the pups were outside, playing freeze tag, while Ryder was inside, getting breakfast ready for everyone.
"Get back here Chase!" Ace yelled while chasing the older shepherd, who was the last pup that wasn't frozen, once again.
"Try to catch me!" Chase yelled back, outrunning Ace by quite a bit.
Ace was soon starting to get exhausted from chasing him, so Chase ran past Rubble and Rocky and unfroze Marshall. While he wasn't the fastest (being slower than both Chase and Ace, though only barely slower than the latter), he definitely had the most stamina out of any of the pups, and it seemed as if he could run for hours if need be. Since Ace was exhausted, Marshall could use his extreme stamina to his advantage to escape the normally faster shepherd.
Marshall then ran to Zuma to unfreeze him as Chase did a u-turn to unfreeze Rubble and Rocky. While Ace was distracted trying to freeze everyone else again, Chase finally ran over to Skye, who was by far the furthest, and went to unfreeze her. He decided to unfreeze her by sneakfully kissing her, causing her to giggle and return a quick kiss before they both began booking it, none of the other pups noticed or saw it, as they were already distracted.
Ace soon surrendered and gave up from exhaustion and the other pups began celebrating their victory. While they were celebrating, they noticed Ryder was standing at the entrance to the lookout, watching them all.
"Just so you pups know, breakfast is ready in the kitchen for everyone." Ryder told them, resulting in Rubble dashing past him like a blur.
"Talk about zoomies." Marshall whispered to his brother.
"Yeah, Rubble does indeed go crazy over food, you should probably check on him eventually." Chase said to the Dalmatian.
"Ehh, maybe. I don't think it's anything serious though." Marshall responded.
The pups then entered the lookout and went to the kitchen before lining up infront of their food bowls, with Ace being the last one in, breathing heavily. Whatever energy he had before was most definitely gone after chasing both Chase and Marshall around the yard.
"You okay Ace?" Ryder asked the pup, a bit concerned.
"Why... are they... so... fast!?" Ace asked, taking a breath after each word.
"Because we are." Chase replied, smiling.
Ace finished his food and left the kitchen, Zuma followed after him and the two pups went to the elevator, raising to the top. While the elevator was raising, the two glanced at one another. The elevator than reached the top, and the two pups left it, walking to the balcony of the lookout.
"Alright Zuma, what did you need?" Ace asked the Labrador.
"I don't need anything but I wanted to speak to you. I'm getting this weiwd feeling, like something bad is going to happen eventually." Zuma replied, in a fast, worried tone.
"Let me guess, it's about the terminator living with us?" Ace questioned, sort of joking.
"No, It's not AL. It's happened evewytime I've been awound Sawah and Junipew, something about those two just gives me a bad feeling." Zuma told him, worried and concerned for everyone.
"Zuma. I'm sure everything will be fine. Juniper won't do anything, and Sarah isn't a threat. She's just a pup taking shelter from the cold, which happens every year." Ace replied, comforting his friend. He could tell it didn't help him much though.
"You say that, but I'm suwe it's something. They'we both hiding some dawk secwets!" Zuma said, trying to convince the shepherd.
Ace just brushed him off, assuming he was just overly worried like Marshall always is. "Okay, I'll be sure to be extra careful, just to make you happy." Ace told him.
"Alwight dude, I guess that's the most I'm going to get." Zuma said before walking back to the elevator.
Ace went to the balcony and stared at Adventure Bay with a smile, he was proud that this once small town had grown so much. He soon heard the elevator door open, he sighed and rolled his eyes, assuming it was Zuma. He was surprised when Ryder came over and leaned on the balcony with him.
"So, what are you doing Ace?" Ryder asked the pup.
"Admiring the town." Ace replied.
"Alright." Ryder responded. They both stood there, admiring Adventure Bay for many minutes. Ryder kept pointing to different buildings and the two spoke about different missions they did in said buildings. Eventually, Ryder pointed to the city hall and talked about how the meteor used to be on display in front of city hall, until Humdinger tried to steal it, which ended in it being stored behind the badge on the lookout tower.
"Hey Ryder, what do you think the power I'll get from it will be? Whenever we have to use it?" Ace asked, curious about what he'd get from it. Despite him being in the PAW Patrol for a little over a year at this point, he hadn't actually used the meteor yet.
"Not sure, it hasn't given anyone the same power so far so it could be a complete mystery on what you'll get." Ryder replied, also curious about what he'd get from it.
The two continued speaking for a couple more minutes before Ace noticed something in Adventure Bay. He focused his eyes and they almost immediately went wide. Ryder couldn't exactly tell what it was either, as most of the large towers disrupted whatever they were staring at. Eventually, they realized what they were looking at.
"Is that smoke!?" Ace asked, frantically.
"Looks like it! and a lot of it!" Ryder replied, quickly pulling out his puppad and calling everyone else to the top of the lookout. Ace ran over to get into formation as Ryder called the ABFD to warn them of the fire. Even then, he knew the fire department wouldn't be large enough to deal with such a large fire if the amount of smoke was anything to go by.
The pups all arrived quickly and jumped into formation, some confused and some worried about how frantic Ryder sounded when he called them. Ryder pulled up a diagram of the smoke on the large monitor, causing Marshall to become worried and most of the pups eyes to widen as well.
The pups listened as Ryder described the situation the best he could to them, announcing that it'd be an ultimate rescue and that Marshall would be in charge during the mission. Skye would be in her helicopter, assisting the fire department in attacking the fire from above. Ace would be in his Transportpanzer Fuchs and use it to help get water to the location needed to calm the fire down, and if needed, could push debris out of the way of the road to make room for the fire department.
The pups all got to their vehicles, with most of them running to the ultimate fire truck, and quickly began driving off. Ryder following along in his ATV.
"Must be an extremely large fire with all that chatter." Chase said. Both of them were in the cabin while the other pups were on the back, ready to start spraying the fire when needed.
"Yeah, I haven't heard this much talk since that fire in Berlin. Except this time, I can actually understand them." Marshall responded.
"Do we immediately start spraying it when we get there?" Chase asked.
"No. If it's caused by oil, spraying it with water will only spread the oil, making it worse." Marshall replied.
"And if it is an oil fire?" Chase questioned, not exactly sure what to do if it is.
"That's why we have those Class-B fire extinguishers. They don't use water, instead using CO2 to suffocate the fire." Marshall informed him.
At the resort
Jake and Everest were looking around the resort for Sarah, they had heard about the fire over the radio and Everest was ready to leave immediately in case she was needed. Everest entered the lobby and saw Jake sitting at a table, holding a small note.
"She's not in her room and I couldn't find her in any of the hallways." Everest told her owner, concerned for Sarah's safety.
"She's the one that started the fire." Everest heard Jake whisper.
"What?" Everest asked, confused. Jake showed her the note, which was signed by Sarah, informing them of everything that she was doing. As she read, she was becoming more and more shocked. Her and Sarah treated one another as if they were sisters, she couldn't believe she would do something like this. "W-What? Why?"
"She plans to get some sort of revenge on Ace according to this, I can only assume she intends to cause harm to him, or worse." Jake replied.
Back in Adventure Bay
The ultimate fire truck pulled up near the fire, with Ace's Transportpanzer Fuchs following, carrying plenty of extra equipment to assist.
Marshall hopped out of the truck, wearing turnout gear designed for pups to protect himself from the fire, with Chase following soon after, also equipped with turnout gear. Marshall examined the fire as the rest of the ABFD arrived, out of one of the trucks came a Dalmatian, two Labradors, and a German shorthaired pointer.
One of the Labradors, covered in black fur with two, different colored eyes (caused by a condition he had called heterochromia), walked up to Marshall and nodded his head, giving him a glare that silently asked "What are your orders captain?".
"Hey Static, I need you to help me figure out what type of fire this is." Marshall replied to his glance, him and Static then went ahead and began trying to discern the cause as the German pointer and other Dalmatian were asking the people outside the fire if anyone was inside.
Chase was watching as they worked from a distance, making sure not to get too close to the fire as to not cause risk to themselves. He then heard loud footsteps nearby and turned to see a canine dressed in a large, full body silver suit trotting over to him.
"Who are you?" Chase asked the mysterious canine. The pup responded by turning to the side, revealing a badge on their shoulder that showed the rank Stabsgefreiter. "Oh, hey son, what's with... this?" Chase asked, referring to the suit.
"It's a silver bunker suit, just in case we need to go in to save somebody." Ace replied, Chase could just barely see his son's face behind the large faceshield he was wearing. It was clear Ace wasn't messing around when it came to protection.
"I wasn't aware you had one of those." Chase said. They both turned back to look at the fire as they heard Marshall yell to them that it was safe to use the hose. The pups all immediately got to work.
"Someone's still inside!!" They all heard the German Pointer yell. Marshall, Ace, and Static all got ready to enter the building and save them while the other pups got ready to spray the fire.
"This definitely complicates the situation." Ace said, making sure his visor was clear before rushing in.
No shit Sherlock. Static thought to himself, following close behind. Marshall ran in shortly after (once he got his mask on, of course) and began leading the search for the missing person.
The three pups searched room after room before eventually arriving at a staircase. Ace volunteered to search upstairs while Marshall and Static searched the other half of the downstairs.
Ace went up the stairs and immediately noticed that the smoke was much more severe upstairs than downstairs despite the fire being mostly downstairs. Upon thinking about it, it made sense to him as smoke does travel as high as it can get. As Ace searched around for the person, the smoke got thicker and the flames below got more severe.
Outside, with the other pups
Chase was listening to the radio with the German Pointer and the dalmatian from the ABPD. They were on the channel of the Fire Department, informing them of the situation, Chase then received a call on his puptag from Everest. Confused, he answered it.
"Hello Everest?" Chase asked, confused about the reason she was calling.
"Chase, two things. 1) Is Marshall alright?" Everest asked him, worried about the Dalmatian's safety.
"Unsure, he's currently searching through the fire with Ace and Static for someone who's trapped." Chase replied. "What's the second thing?"
"Okay, that's what two is about, Sarah IS the person who's trapped!" Everest pretty much yelled into her puptag.
"What!? How? She's at the resort, right?" Chase asked, even more confused now.
"No, she left! She left behind a note here. She's not only the one trapped in the fire, she's the arsonist who caused it! Something about 'Getting revenge on Ace.' according to her note." Everest replied. The expression on Chase's face change from confusion to anger upon hearing the last part.
Revenge? Revenge for what? What could Ace had possibly done to her? Chase thought to himself. "I'll tell the others!" Chase said before ending the call and immediately calling Marshall and Ace.
Meanwhile, back with Ace
Ace was upstairs, searching through a room that was in a state is disrepair due to the raging fire. He received a call from someone through his puptag but before he could answer it, he felt something metal push against the back of his head.
"Don't answer that call, or you'll lose your head." Ace heard a familiar voice saying behind him. He let go of his puptag and slowly turned around, noticing it was Sarah.
"S-Sarah? What are you doing here?" Ace asked, immediately noticing the firearm she was holding.
"To get revenge for Locke." Sarah replied, Ace's eyes went wide when he realized the firearm was aimed at him. "You've been free for over a year since you got your leader locked up, your freedom will end here."
"Sarah, D-Don't do this. We can talk about this." Ace said to her, trying to negotiate his way out of this. He was trying to hide that he was terrified from her, but she could still see through his visor the fear in his eyes, causing her hesitance to return to her.
"D-Damnit! Stop trying to be so goddamn cute, I'm trying to hate you!" Sarah yelled at him, causing Ace to fall back a couple steps. What she said didn't register in his head, as he was too consumed by fear to register her exact words.
"Sarah! Just put the gun down. You don't need to do this!" Ace tried his best to convince her. Sarah lowered the firearm slowly, her feelings and hesitance taking over. "Just drop the weapon, Sarah."
"And then what? You'll just throw me in the prison with Locke. Hell! You may even shoot me!" Sarah growled.
Ace was desperately trying to think of something, anything to say that'd convince her to drop the weapon and then get out of the building before it collapsed. "N-No, you have potential Sarah, I'm sure I could convince the others to let you join us."
Sarah lowered the weapon fully and looked at the young shepherd with regret. She could sense the fear he felt and the regret was killing her now, especially with the weird feelings she was feeling for him. "Y-You... promise?" Sarah asked, still clenching the pistol she held.
Ace stared at her, surprised he was making progress. "Y-Yeah, of course!" Ace replied. Sarah gave him one more glance before dropping the firearm, which then fell through the floor, which was falling apart at this point, to the ground below. Ace could then hear frantic footsteps running up the stairs and toward his location, he then saw Marshall and Static at the door.
"Ace! Are you alright!? We heard yelling." Marshall asked him, he then noticed Sarah, who looked extremely upset.
"Uhh... Y-Yeah! I found them." Ace replied, laying one of his legs around Sarah and pretty much giving her a hug.
Marshall ran over to help him, assuming he was trying to lift her to get her out of the building. Marshall helped lift her as they all began working to get her safely out of building.
"Is there anyone else in the building?" Ace asked the other two pups.
"No, we searched everywhere and we found no evidence of anyone else being present." Marshall replied. Static nodded in agreement, confirming what Marshall said.
"That's one good thing." Ace said as they began descending down the stairs.
A couple minutes later...
Outside the building
Everyone was trying desperately to put out the fire, and were finally beginning to make significant progress. They soon noticed Marshall, Ace, and Static leaving the building, carrying Sarah with them.
Chase was relieved to see Ace was okay after Everest informed him of Sarah's plan. He was at first pissed off with Sarah and ready to confront her until seeing her seemingly barely awake and covered in ash. Now that they were safely outside, Marshall and the other Dalmatian began trying to keep Sarah awake and in good condition until the ambulance could arrive, while Ace walked over to the Fuchs, hoping to finally get the silver bunker suit off of him.
Chase ran over and met him outside the Fuchs. "Ace, are you alright!?" Chase asked him, worried. Ace took off the helmet of his suit and glanced at his father.
"Yes dad, I'm okay." Ace replied, deciding to keep his promise to Sarah and not tell the others about what happened.
An ambulance then rushed past and parked nearby, ready to take Sarah to the nearest hospital. Before Sarah was taken away to the hospital, she glanced at Ace once more time with a look that said 'Thank you.'
Ace smiled at her before the ambulance took her away. He then immediately lost the smile as the adrenaline wore off. Marshall walked up to the german Shepherd pup as he watched the ambulance disappear into the distance.
"Hey Ace." Marshall said as he stood next to him. The fire had finally died down and the other members of the PAW Patrol plus the ABFD were focusing on killing the fire completely.
"Hey Uncle spots." Ace said back, still staring in the same direction.
"Something taking over your thoughts?" Marshall asked.
"Yeah, sorta." Ace replied, finally turning to look at Marshall. Who was still wearing his ash-covered turnout gear.
They both then heard everyone excitedly cheering as they finally put out the fire. The two pups looked at one another and smiled before returning to others, another mission completed.
Back on the top floor of the lookout
AL was sitting in the middle of the room, staring at the large monitor. He had watched the whole mission through a camera in Marshall's puptag, and was learning from it.
He had been given the main task to watch the pups perform their missions for a couple weeks before he would begin training himself, and he took to the task immediately. Watching every mission they did through their puptags. AL could even change his view to see through the puptag cameras, but he hadn't figured it out completely yet, so he preferred watching through the large monitor.
The robotic dog slowly turned his head toward the elevator and trotted over to it once the mission ended and the monitor cut off. He then descended to the ground floor as the pups arrived back at home.
That's the end of Chapter 11.
Sarah has finally ended her villian arc, potential redemption arc anyone?
Anyway, like I said at the beginning of this chapter. I'm not a firefighter, and I'm not exactly knowledgeable on dealing with large fires like described in this story, Please inform me in the reviews if I got something wrong here and how to improve it so I can learn from it. I accept all criticism given to me.
