Haru yawned as he walked inside the school building, stepping around the various students loitering the halls. Moving to a new home had given him some refreshing time away from school and he was not ready to start waking up early so soon. The only thing keeping him awake is an earbud blasting music and a steel bottle filled with coffee. With some difficulty, Haru managed to find his classroom and slipped inside, taking a seat in the back of the room. Instead of the infamous "window seat", he took the opposite seat in the corner. Settling down, he took a sip of coffee and began tapping his desk, hoping school would just start and get it over with.
As the students poured into the room and went to their seats, the teacher finally stepped in. A woman in a tidy outfit, she addressed the students, "Welcome everyone! Hopefully some of you have noticed but there's been an addition to our class today."
Haru paused his tapping, realizing what was about to happen. He began to internally panic.
"Please no..."
The teacher looked over and spotted him, "Mr. Satsuma! Why don't you stand up and introduce yourself?"
"SHIT!"
Seeing everyone's eyes suddenly on him, Haru groaned and stood up. He gulped and spoke, "I'm Haru Satsuma, nice to meet you."
"Okay, that wasn't so bad..."
The moment he started to sit back down the teacher called out, "Why don't you tell us about yourself?"
"OH GOD DAMN IT! Curse my anti-social brain!"
Lunch couldn't come soon enough but eventually it did, granting Haru some time to relax in the cafeteria. His meal is nothing special, just a small bag of chips and a soda he bought from a nearby vending machine, but it was enough. Haru sat in silence as he ate his meal, scrolling on his phone for any movie news while occasionally turning his head to look around.
The school certainly had a colorful cast of students, the lack of a standardized dress code left everyone to have their own various styles of attire. Pairing that with some of the different hair styles and colors makes people watching surprisingly interesting, at least for this first day. It did help that many of the girls at the school are fairly easy on the eyes, although he wasn't all that interested in looking for a girlfriend.
There's one table with a trio of girls from another class that kept drawing his attention, namely since one of the girls had a problem keeping to a normal volume. A brunette with short hair and red jacket around her waist, loudly talking with her friends who remain much quieter in comparison. One is a black haired girl with a face mask and the other is a blue-eyed girl wearing a large white sweater, she in particular is rather beautiful. Haru diverted his eyes back to his phone, ignoring the temptation to keep staring. Not only did he not want to come across as a creep, but talking to girls wasn't something he really felt up to doing. Hell, just having guy friends seemed like a chore to get in of itself.
The chime of the school bell signaled the end of the lunch period, causing Haru to sigh and clean up his small mess. After disposing of it, he headed out into the hall and pulled out his housekeys, twirling them in his hand to keep his mind entertained. It's just the key itself and a small Godzilla keychain, basic but easy to identify as his.
Unfortunately, as he turned a corner to head towards his classroom, another boy suddenly ran around and collided with Haru.
THUD
Haru yelped while the other teen let out an "OW!" before both fell to the ground. This caused Haru to drop his keys, sliding across the tiled floor and stopping at the shoe of a passerby. They picked up the dropped item and stared at it, thumbing around with the mini Godzilla keychain.
Meanwhile, Haru clutched his head as it pounded from the painful impact. "What the hell man...?" He blinked as a hand is held in front of his face, belonging to the boy who ran into him. He has red hair and blue eyes, a striking color that Haru somewhat recognizes from the cafeteria.
"Hey, are you alright?"
Haru blinked at the outstretched hand, mind blanking for a moment before he grabs it and lets himself get lifted to his feet. "I'm fine...I guess."
The boy smiled, "That's good to hear! I forgot my backpack and was rushing to get it. I didn't mean to run into you though."
"...Shouldn't you be running to get it then?"
His eyes widened, "Crap, you're right! Sorry but I gotta run!" And so he ran off down the hall, leaving Haru to simply sigh and wandered over to class. He's unaware that the hallway wasn't empty however...
After making it on time, Haru proceeded to fall asleep at his desk. Nobody bothered him and just left him alone until the final bell rang, signaling the end of the day. While the students poured out of the classroom, Haru decided to rest for a few more moments. By the time he lifted his head, the room was completely vacant.
As he yawned and rubbed a tired eye, he noticed something new in front of him. Placed on his desk are his keys, the little Godzilla figure placed on its feet and facing him. Shoving his hand in his pocket confirmed its absence.
Haru shrugged, "Guess it slipped out while I was sleeping, good thing nobody stole it."
Grabbing it and shoving the keys in his pocket, he picked up his backpack and headed out of the classroom. While he exited the door, Haru didn't notice a girl with purple hair and red eyes watching him in the hallway.
It was only a 30 minute walk until he made it home, an apartment left empty outside of himself. As he used his key and stepped inside, Haru called out, "I'm home."
As expected, no one answered. Currently his parents were left in their previous city, working for the next few months before properly moving to Tsutsujidai. While Haru didn't mind having the apartment to himself, it made things boring. After grabbing a soda, he headed over to his bedroom and flopped on his mattress.
In front of his bed is a large shelf with various Godzilla figures, lined up from the original 1954 character to even the recent American Godzilla and Shin Godzilla. Currently, the right most spot is left vacant for any more additions. A new anime Godzilla called "Godzilla Earth" had just debuted in a movie just a few months ago, so Haru figured it's about time to get that Godzilla to the collection. Maybe he'll go shopping on the weekend.
For now though, he just downed his drink and laid down, shutting his eyes and preparing to sleep once more.
