((This is the alternate version of another story I have going. Yes, I will continue that one as well. I just had so many ideas and things I wanted to do differently, so I figured 'Why not write it as one of those video games where it gives you options of what to do that puts your character down different paths. So while the story remains about the same, one decision effects everything after differently and how they interact. Like timelines. Or whatever. Anyways, please comment or give me a review of what you think. Or tell me what you think could be done better. Or even suggestions. Anyways, please enjoy!))
Chapter 1
A raven haired girl lay her sleep, tossing and turning in her sleep. She began to see images of the events that took place over a thousand years ago. She found herself floating above a wooded area with what seemed to be ancient ruins in the middle of the trees. Before she could figure out where she was, she could see explosions of light in the sky followed by booming shockwaves that shook the ground below. She held her hands up, protecting her face from any debris or to brace herself for the shockwave. However, it seemed to pass right through her body.
Her body was not solid, in fact it was like she was doing an astral projection. "This is a vision? Or is this a dream?" She silently questioned then began to look where the source of all the commotion was coming from. She saw what seemed to be four demons and a fifth creature fighting them. The four transformed into human like figures in armor, as did the other, but all she could see of the fifth one, was a shadow like figure. In a flash of light, the four clashed directly into the other.
A blinding light covered everything, Rei's eyes squinted shut being unable to see through it. The light slowly began to fade, however, what she now saw before her was an entirely different scenario. She was no longer above a forest or ruins, but now above a present day city. This city was so desolate and void of any living creature. though. Her eyes widened in fear and shock at the sight before her. The entire city was on fire and filled with smoke, there wasn't any signs of life. "No…what does this mean?" She gasped, covering her mouth with her hand. Her eyes began to tear up seeing this premonition. "Is this what is to come? How is this to be avoided?!"
Before she could ask another question, the four demons crashed down before her in pillars of light. A dragon, a phoenix, a white tiger, and a large tortoise stood before her, then began to glow, shrinking down in size. They had transformed into four small jewels, a blue dragon head with red eyes, an orange phoenix with wings spread, a white tiger with green eyes and black stripes, and the other became the shape of a tortoise shell, dark green in color. Her eyes widened, knowing what these were.
"Are those the four Celestial Beasts?! What are you trying to tell me?!" She called out yet again, they began to change shape. Now stood before her four suits of armor. One was white in shape with black stripes and a tiger head on the chest piece. The second was dark green with a tortoise head on the chest piece and onyx eyes. The third was a blue armor with a dragon head and ruby eyes. Finally, the fourth armor was crimson red with sapphire blue eyes.
A dark figure then appeared before her, the body seeming to be a humanoid type shape, but claws at the end of the fingers, wings like that of a dragon, piercing red eyes, the figure seemed to be shadowed out so she wasn't able to see physical details completely. The creature charged a large ball of black energy in its hands pointed at the four then blasted them into dust. However, this part of the vision seemed to be different from the rest she witnessed.
It turned towards her slowly, the eyes narrowed, as if focusing its glance towards something, it was her. "So, you can see me? I can see you as well…" The figure licked its lips then smirked, showing fangs. "Interesting…it would seem your lovely body is filled with spiritual energy…what a delightful treat indeed." Its voice full of interest, the figure laughed slightly as it raised a hand. It snapped its fingers as a wave of destruction wiped out everything in her dream. The blast had consumed her in a flash of light and debris. Rei awoke, gasping for air in shock. The sweat dripped from her face as she frantically looked around the room and over her body. Breaking the silence, the sound of her alarm clock echoed throughout the room. She looked over and shakily hit the snooze button.
"Was that vision real?" As the raven haired girl questioned, she turned to look at her communicator and transformation pen sitting next to her on the nightstand. "Please, don't be a new threat. We're just now starting to be able to enjoy normal lives…" She trailed off, then shook her head. There wasn't near enough information yet to go telling everyone and causing alarm. Besides, with all the insanity they've faced, it could just be some bad nightmare. Though with how her visions turned out, as unlikely as it may be, it still was plausible.
She slowly moved herself from bed and began to get ready for classes, pushing the thoughts and worries of what she saw to the back of her mind for now. Sometimes it was a pain going to a different school than the others, especially in these scenarios. If anything were to happen, it took so much more effort to get everyone grouped up and ready. Or if something were to happen where she needed help, it took more time till back up could arrive.
"I'm off grandpa. I'll see you later!" She called out, putting shoes on then heading out the door. A gentle breeze ran through the trees, her long black silky hair waved as she brushed some from her face. She began her descent down the stairs of the shrine to the sidewalk below.
Rei pulled her phone out to check how much time she had, and also to see if anyone had any emergencies or tried to reach out to her. "WHAT?! Oh no! I'm THAT late?!" Her eyes widened in shock. She had NEVER been late before, not like this. She quickly tightened her grip on her backpack and took off running down the sidewalk. 'Oh damn, that weird nightmare. Everything is completely thrown off this morning!' Her thoughts began to race as she ran. She ran along side a brick wall as she reached the corner, she made a sharp turn right, keeping the speed she had built up and BAM, there was suddenly the figure of a person on the other side of that corner she smashed right into as both fell onto the ground. Books and supplies spilled out of both of their bags.
"Ugh..what did I run into?" She asked, more to herself as she placed her palm to her head, squinting her eyes while she focused her vision again. There was a teenage boy in front of her with crimson red hair, sapphire blue eyes, athletic build, around 5'11" in height looking at her the exact same way.
"OH MY GOD! I'M SO SORRY!"
"OH MY GOD! I'M SO SORRY!"
Both of them exclaimed as the crimson haired boy was first to jump up. He had just a few items spill from his bag quick he quickly collected and packed back up. He then kneeled to help her pick her things up. He caught a glimpse of her beautiful shimmering violet eyes, her dark raven black hair flowing in the wind. 'Woah…' His thoughts, everything seemed to just…stop. He then quickly shook his head gathering the rest of her things and handing it to her as she packed them up. "I really am so sorry, I was rushing so much and I just…wasn't paying attention." His voice was filled with sincerity.
"No, no. Really, it's ok. I'm just as much to blame. I saw I was running late and I just flew into a panic." She looked up to see he was holding his hand out to help her up. There was a slight blush in her cheeks as she gently placed her hand in his. Suddenly she saw flashes in her mind with images of flames everywhere. Then suddenly a blazing phoenix soared up out of the blazes. "Huh?!" She snapped back to her senses but felt something strange. A warmth? She felt arms around her.
"Uhm, miss? A-Are you alright?" He asked, his voice sounding somewhat shaky. The side of her face was against his chest with her hands placed on it. As he had pulled her up, she seemed to black out and fall forward. He had caught her to keep her from hitting the ground again.
"Oh! I don't know what happened! I-I lost my balance I guess." She tripped over her words, her face as red as the boy's hair. "Oh no! What time is it?! Shoot, shoot, shoot! I forgot I'm running late! I'm sorry again! Bye!" She took off running past him, waving back to him as she ran.
"Ah shit biscuits! I'm late too! And on my first day!" He snagged his bag up and took off running as well. He saw the school in sight. "I got this!" He charged in through the building's side doors.
"We're gonna make it!" Minako, yelled down to Usagi as they ran up the stairs to try getting to class before the bell rang. Usagi was tailing right behind the other blond haired girl, her two long pigtails waving behind her.
"Yeah! We've got it this time! Things are finally changing and looking up for us!" Usagi boasted, laughing wildly as they skid on the floor, turning to go up the last flight of stairs. They both made it up to the top at the same time, however as they did, another student was running from down the hall as he dashed in front of the stairway. "HEY WATCH OUT!" The two screamed out in unison, but it was too late to change trajectories. Their paths were doomed to cross with a heavy crash, the two girls rammed into this poor soul minding his own business. The three went flying into the wall, the boy smacked against the window, skidding down with the two blonds on top of him.
"Hey, that didn't actually hurt as near as badly as I thought." Minako, looked to Usagi before gasping, wide eyed. She finally realized why their landing wasn't as bad. The two were sitting on top of the boy they smashed into. Minako sat atop of the boy's chest and Usagi across his legs. "Oh my god are you ok?! We're so sorry!" Minako exclaimed, still sitting on top of him. Usagi jumped up and bowed towards him.
"We were running late and didn't watch where we were going! Please forgive us!" She apologized.
"Ugh…again?! That's the second time today. Do I have some target on me or something?" He groaned, his eyes fluttering open to see what happened. The first thing he saw was the other girl with the long hair and red bow in her hair sitting on his chest, looking down at him.
"Um, its ok. I tend to be accident prone anyways. Apparently, I'm trying out for my career as a crash dummy." He joked then let out a sigh. "So, I know I'm probably comfortable, but…I kind of need to get up and get to class." He stated awkwardly to Minako.
The girl blushed, her face going red. "Oh yea! Sorry!" She exclaimed, jumping up from him as he slowly rose up to his feet, grabbing his bag. He straightened his shirt up some as the bell went off through the school. "Oh no! I forgot about being late!" She yelled, panicking with Usagi as they both apologized one more time before running onto class, leaving the boy behind.
"Day one of a new school, definitely not a dull one so far. Shit. It looks like I'm late now too." The boy heaved a sigh, dusting himself off as he began to walk in the direction the other two went. "At least I can use the 'I'm new here' excuse. He continued down the hallway. Looking to some paperwork he was carrying around, he saw where his homeroom was, following the numbers above the doors till finally he reached the right one. "Here we go." He opened the door to see the two blonds being scolded by the teacher.
The two stood with their heads bowed down in shame as the man continued to lay into them about being late AGAIN. "Now please, find your seats and sit down." He pointed as the two shamefully walked from the front of the classroom to the desks, sitting down near a blue haired girl and a brunette. "If there are no more interruptions, can we please get started?" He asked then saw the red haired boy at the door. "Can I help you?" He questioned.
"Oh um, good morning sir!" The boy bowed then stood back up. "My name is Katsuro Takahashi. I'm a transfer and this is my first day. I had trouble finding the room." He laughed nervously, rubbing the back of his head.
"Ah yes, the new student. I was told we would be getting a new addition today. Well please, come in and introduce yourself then find yourself a seat." The man invited, motioning his hand to come stand in front of the class.
"Right." Katsuro agreed as he stepped in then turned to face everyone. "Hello everyone. I'm Katsuro Takahashi. I just moved to the area and definitely look forward to getting to know new people! Lets definitely get along!" He bowed before looking for an empty desk to claim. The only one available was behind Minako. He sat his things on top then slowly slid down into his seat. "It looks like we're classmates. How lucky, with a hit and run like that, I'm afraid we may need to exchange contact information for insurance purposes." Katsuro teased, breaking the ice.
"Oh no, seriously?!" Minako panicked, thinking he was serious. She wasn't always…the brightest cookie in the tool jar if you catch the drift.
"No no no. I'm just joking with you." He chuckled lightly. "But a name would be cool to know. I definitely need some people to talk to and hang with." He stated as Minako gave a sigh of relief.
"Oh good, that's a relief." The blond awkwardly laughed. "I'm Minako, Minako Aino." She turned around with a smile.
"And I'm Usagi Tsukino. Nice to meet you!" Her voice friendly and full of cheer.
"Enough of the chit chat in the back there! I am trying to teach a class unless you two want to come up to the front and give the lecture?" The instructor stated impatiently as the two quieted down and Minako turned around to the front. "Oh, Katsuro, you'll have to go to the office to retrieve your books and class materials. You'll need to show them your school ID you had made when you enrolled." He stated, adjusting his glasses then slicking back his brown hair.
"Oh right, I have it right here…let's see." He dug through his bag then pulled his ID card out, only to become completely frozen in a panic, his eyes wide as he could feel the beads of sweat on his forehead. The ID tag read 'Rei Hino' and had a picture of the raven haired girl he ran into earlier. "Oh shit…um, sir? I have an issue." He raised his hand, his classmates all looked to him wondering what the issue was.
The man let out a sigh. "Yes Mr. Takahashi? What is it?" Here it comes, another wild excuse from some quick witted teenager that thinks he can pull one over on his teacher his first day.
"Well, ok, so this morning I was on my way here, and I was hurrying so I'd be here on time. Then around the corner of this brick wall next to me I collided into this stunningly gorgeous girl and our things got scattered. I think in the confusion, we picked up the wrong ID cards." He laughed nervously as he faced the card to the front of the classroom.
"REI?!" Four girls called out in complete surprise, eyes wide as they looked at the girl's picture and name. Usagi jumped up and snagged the card from his hand. "Hey! This is our friend Rei! She goes to an all-girl's catholic school not far from here." She said, showing it to the other three.
"Yep, that's definitely Rei's." Makoto agreed, leaned over Usagi's shoulder to see it.
"Oh my, that's quite a coincidence you'd run into our friend." Ami's voice, full of amusement.
"Oh? Sh-She's your friend?" Katsuro nervously asked, realizing what he just said about her.
"Yep! So…you think she's a total hottie don't cha?" Usagi teasingly jabbed his side with her elbow.
"Uh, I, um…" He stuttered.
"Everyone! That's enough, you four, back to your seats! Takahashi. Just read off of one of your classmates' books for today. Since they seem to know the owner of that ID who has yours, they can track it down and exchange it so you can get your materials tomorrow." His voice was stern, he had smacked down his hand to his desk to get everyone's attention.
"Yesir!" Katsuro quickly agreed as he looked for someone to look on with. He then saw the blond girl with the pigtails motioning him to sit next to her. He pulled his desk against hers then scooted a seat over to look at the lesson plan with her.
"So…we COULD exchange those for you and bring yours tomorrow…oooooor." She led on with one of her signature mischievous grins. This was what she specialized in, meddling in her friends lives and playing match maker. "Actually, let me see your phone. I think I left mine at home. I just need to send one message real fast. Is that ok?" She whispered so they wouldn't be heard.
That was a rather strange request, and what she said leading up to that didn't quite seem too promising either. But he was happy to make friends. Maybe it was something really important she needed to say to a family member? "Sure, here." He spoke hesitantly as he reached into his bag, hiding the phone from the teacher, and slipping it to her.
She began to quickly tap away on the screen, giving him a side glance as she smirked. "There, done. Gooood luuuuuck. Oh, by the way. We study at her place after school. You're coming with us, no if, ands, or buts." She winked then quickly looked away so he could see his phone screen.
Rei Hino had been added as a contact to his phone and a message had been sent out to her. 'Oh no…' He thought to himself as he opened to see it. The message read:
'I have something of yours you need hostage.'
Cryptic…and sketchy. "Wait, what?" His voice hissed in a whisper. Before he could get an answer, he saw a chat bubble appear showing that she was replying.
'Who is this? How did you get my number? And what do you have of mine?!'
Katsuro quickly began typing out a reply, hiding his phone in the opening of his deck.
'I am SO sorry. I didn't send that. Um, your friend did. Usagi? Anyway, I'm the guy from this morning, we ran into each other. Yeah, apparently, we each snatched up the wrong ID cards.'
Rei was sitting in her first class when she received this message. "Oooohh…Usagi…figures…" She spoke under her breath to herself, exhaling a gentle sigh. She relaxed a little now, knowing that it's not some crazed psyche. She read the rest of the message then leaned over slowly to go through her bag. Sure enough, a picture of the boy from this morning, Katsuro Takahashi. Her phone buzzed again.
'She said something like they all meet at your place for study sessions and to hang out. She's pretty much demanded I be there instead of them doing the swap for us…but I feel better asking permission from someone first.'
"That Usagi…what is she up to this time? I suppose it couldn't hurt anything." She quietly said to herself.
'Keep your eyes on that one, she's sneaky. Yes, that will be fine. I'll send you directions just incase your coming separate from them. Oh…and tell Usagi, she's going to get it.
=D'
Katsuro gently tapped on Usagi's shoulder, and as she looked up, he showed her the message on his phone. Her face turned to horror as she made one gulp then shivered. 'And this day just continues to be interesting.' He thought to himself. He got another message giving him directions to the Hikawa Shrine.
The day continued on from there, going rather slowly. Each class, Katsuro kept glancing to the clock, almost filled with anxiety, but excited at the same time. He made friends already, or at least, starting to. Already invited to go hangout and socialize. It did help however, that one of them was the girl he ran into this morning. Hell, this seemed like some cheesy rom com. Crash into the one that will become your crush you want to pursue and in some crazy twisted turn of events, you end up mixing up your belongings, which forces you to meet again.
The girls glanced over at him as the final was coming to an end. His legs anxiously bouncing under his desk as his eyes fixated onto the clock. Then there it was, the final bell. He jumped up from his seat, grabbing his bag as he walked out with the four girls.
"Oh, by the way, we didn't introduce ourselves this morning. I'm Makoto Kino." She gave a friendly smile.
"I'm Ami Mizuno, it's a pleasure to meet you." Polite as ever, she smiled as her head slightly cocked to the side.
"Oh yeah! I only got their names this morning. Its nice to meet you and thank you for allowing me to join your group today. I didn't really expect to even socialize with people today." He gave a nervous chuckle, his hand brushing through his hair. "She gave me the directions to get there. I have one quick thing to do before I head over. Just need to snag groceries to stock up a bit at home. After I drop those, I'll be right over!" He gave a thumbs up.
"Alright! We'll see you there then!" Usagi waved in her usual excited, upbeat tone. The others knew what she was trying to do and plotting.
'I guess it would be interesting seeing how Rei will react to all of this.' Makoto thought to herself.
The four went one way, and Katsuro headed the other way to take care of what he needed to do before going over. 'I hope everything keeps going like this. Everything has taken quite the interesting turn today.' He thought to himself, his arms behind his head with his fingers locked as he gazed to the sky, walking towards the store.
