Something isn't quite right at her new job. (Based off of the "night at the museum" movie, or very similar, & an artwork I saw on Twitter!)

A sasusaku AU snippet. (UNEDITED!)

"Look sir," Sakura pleaded as she followed the museum's director to the front doors of the building; his sorry attempt at escorting her off of the premises after a failed interview. "I really, really need this job!" The pinkette moved in front of him, (halting him) with her hands crossed in front of her chest and her eyes brimming with tears. "Please, just give me a chance and I swear that I will prove to you that I am more than capable of taking on this position."

Mr. Hatake sighed and placed his hand over his left eye as if the stress of it all was giving him a headache. "Look Miss Haruno, you have absolutely no experience with security… your last job was waiting tables at the local diner, Ichiraku. I can't in good conscience give you the position. I'm sorry." The silver-haired manager started to move forwards again, but Sakura held her hands up in front of him to stop him.

"What if I trained with the old guys first? Would you let me th—"

"I can't."

"But, I…"

"Miss Haruno, I have made my decision. Now please leave because I have more interviews to conduct." Feeling sullen and dejected, she finally lowered her head in defeat with a sigh before turning on her heels. Sakura was almost at the door, when she heard him calling out to her.

"Wait a second, Miss Haruno," Mr. Hatake hollered at her as he shook his head… and her heart began to beat wildly in her chest as she held her breath, waiting. "Don't let me regret this… but if you do a good job during training… I will consider offering you the position." Her face lit up and she nodded her head vigorously before bowing to him.

"Thank you sir, you won't regret this! I promise!"

A month later…

"… do you have everything you need…," Sasori asked her, his expression one of pure boredom as the red-head observed Sakura adjust the belt at her hip for the upteenth time.

"I think so."

"Good, because this will be your first night alone. But if you need anything… don't hesitate to call us," Sasori indicated as he motioned with a hand to the blonde on his right. "We will gladly assist you if it's needed… but remember that the number one rule is to follow all of the instructions written in the manual in the order that they are written down; starting with number one, then go to two, and then three… and so on and so on. That is essential."

Sakura didn't understand why but she agreed nonetheless and thought that maybe once the pair, Sasori and Deidara, had officially moved on from their old positions, she could possibly change it up just a little… and not be so strict. But for now, Sakura needs this job desperately, so the pinkette was willing to do whatever it took and follow whatever rule (no matter how ridiculous it may seem to her) that was set in order to keep her new position as the museum's official nighttime guard.

After they left, Sakura grabbed the manual and opened it to page one. From there, she began to read:

Lock all doors; do NOT let anything in OR out!

Check all of the perimeters carefully. Twice.

Feed the guard dog, Akako.

Check the security cameras.

And it went on from there with other mundane tasks, some that made perfect sense to her and others, such as pet the monkey, that didn't. She placed it down with a sigh and left the security office to lock up all the doors and proceed with the rest of the evening's duties.

As she was making her rounds, something sparky caught her eye inside the mummy exhibit. Sakura took a moment to investigate it more closely, her curiosity getting the best of her, and she realized that the light must have caught on the metallic surface of an old medallion hanging next to a photo of an ancient Egyptian goddess. Feeling drawn to it, she leaned forward for a closer inspection and noticed a small speck of dirt caked onto its surface. She reached up and placed her thumb and forefinger on it without thinking and began to rub away the darkened smudge. She felt a small shock race through her system at the contact and let go of the object with a small gasp. She grabbed onto her hand with the other as a chilling shiver ran down her spine.

Feeling slightly uneasy, she decided to move on… but the feeling of being watched never left her as she finished with her second round, and by the time she made it back to the security office Sakura felt a tightening form in the pit of her stomach, her unease growing in intensity. As she sat down in one of the multiple swivel chairs in front of the multitude of computer monitors… she noticed a small movement on the right and her gaze narrowed as she tried to spot what had caused it.

Then, she saw it again. She leaned in for closer inspection and realized that it appeared as if one of the Indian figures in the Native American exhibit had moved… on its own.

'What in the hell,' Sakura thought as she rubbed her eyes but when she looked again, she still saw it moving. Feeling the unease grow significantly, she grasped the butt end of her gun and made her way to the area in question. Slowly she approached… step by step… and when Sakura turned the corner a couple of minutes later—

"AHHH!"

She screamed; having come face to face with not only one of the moving, "living" figurines, but three. Sakura ran back down the hallway, stunned as even more of the museum's artifacts came to life as she passed and after a brief pause (where she contemplated which way to go) she raced into the first place that she could reach, the Prince of Konoha's exhibit. The pinkette locked the gate behind her and took a few steps back as the museum's occupants moved freely about on the opposite side.

She was trying to catch her breath when she felt a pair of eyes on her and she slowly turned to the right to figure out where the feeling was coming from. Choosing to ignore all of the commotion on the outside, Sakura made her way to the large, floor-length painting that hung on the wall beside her. She gazed up at it and tilted her head and the fact that the eyes of the painted figure (the prince) seemed to follow her, unnerved her to say the least.

A loud rattling at the gate caught her focus and she moved away from the painting towards the center of the room, her emerald eyes focused solely on the wax figures who were trying to make their way into the room. With hands shaking slightly, she pulled the gun from its holster and aimed it at their heads. "S-stay back," she stammered and the beings began to communicate in a strange tongue… one that she couldn't quite understand, and then the rattling seemed to increase tenfold. "I-I'm warning you… I-I will sh—"

Tap, tap, tap on her right shoulder… before a strong hand grasped onto it firmly.

Her heart raced and her eyes bulged. She was supposed to be alone. But then, who—

Sakura turned her head and her eyes widened even more if possible when she saw a tall figure standing next to her. Her brain didn't want to process that who she was looking at was none other than the "Prince of Konoha" himself, the most handsome man that she had ever seen… which she should know because she's been eyeing his painting every single night for the past four weeks or ogling is more like it.

Her eyes darted to his painting, somehow expecting him to be there… but indeed he wasn't. She stumbled away from him in utter shock and he watched her closely as panic set in. Her vision slowly darkened, further and further until she felt herself slowly falling backwards… the sound of her gun hitting the floor resonated in her ears while her eyes rolled to the back of her head, but before she could fully hit the ground, a pair of strong arms caught her, breaking her fall.

Their eyes met (her vision was blurry and her hearing was muffled and ringing) but before the pinkette could slip into complete unconsciousness—

'How is this even possible? How is he even here and how are they all alive? WHAT IN THE HELL IS GOING ON HERE!?'

Author's Notes:

If any of these sound like your own writing or another you have read I apologize but I didn't copy anyone's work. This is entirely my own writing.

Extra Notes/Thoughts:

Possible ideas if continued... (I don't usually share my thoughts like this, but I figured I might as well.)

#1.) Maybe the painting comes to life and Sasuke can pull her into his world OR he can come out of it to visit her. Maybe Sasuke has to help her save the museum when the ex-security team comes back to try & steal things. (Sasori & Deidara.)

#2.) Maybe it's an amulet that brings things to life instead of a tablet like night at the museum. Sasuke was a prince in his time. She falls in love as does he.
