A/N: Hello my dear readers. I'm sorry it has been such a long time since I last posted anything. I have had a severe case of writer's block for the last several years and have felt no inspiration to write anything. I hope you enjoy this new story of mine. Don't worry about the other stories I have written, I haven't abandoned them. I will however be going back over them with a fine tooth comb which could take some time.
A shoutout in thanks to a dear friend of mine for editing my new story for me.
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or FF7, they are the property of Square Enix and J.K Rowling. The only thing I own is my OC for this story.
Chapter 1: Prologue
Reincarnation Confusion
Long ago, in a time nearly forgotten, a battle was waged that would determine the fate of the planet.
One warrior, always faithful to his nation despite the abuse it inflicted upon him, had finally lost his sanity when he discovered the truth of what had been done to him and his closest friends. It had all been in the pursuit of a mad scientist's delusions of reaching perfection.
The warrior was nothing more than a tool, a pawn to the scientist and the president of the company he worked for. He wasn't even really considered a person by either man, and to make matters worse a lesser known scientist, who was no less depraved than the first, had taken the only friends the warrior had ever had.
One of them was lost to degeneration, their body rapidly aging and their mind falling apart. After an argument and sparring match gone wrong, he became a renegade, taking quite a few others with him until he was subsequently hunted down.
The second friend was a very honorable man, even after learning of the horrors of the organization he had served loyally. However, he eventually decided that he could no longer go on living, having unknowingly aided in such evil. He forced his young apprentice to kill him with his own blade.
The third friend had been a hero, but he became a monster that everyone feared. He had attempted to destroy the world three times, and each time he was slain and then resurrected. His slayer was an unassuming soldier by the name of Cloud Strife.
It was not until his third life that the former hero was defeated permanently.
Time moved on, and in the wake of devastation caused by their own inaction, the people of Midgar began efforts to recover.
One by one, the heroes who had fought the fallen hero and brought peace and stability to their shattered world in the aftermath of Calamity, all died.
And so it was upon the last of her Champion's deaths that the Planet itself made a decision that she had never considered before then. It became clear that the people of Midgar did not have the strength to prevent another calamity such as this from happening again. Especially now that those who had the best chance of preventing it were now all dead and buried, most with few to no heirs.
The Planet could not afford another Calamity; the previous one had caused too much damage, damage that would take millenia to heal on its own without the aid of the People. It did not help that the Calamity had taken place in Midgar for the country was considered holy land. Thus the devastation was even greater than what it would have been if it had taken place elsewhere and was felt across the entire planet even if most did not recognize what was happening.
And so it was with a heavy heart, for the Planet loved all of her children dearly, that she sank the land of Midgar to the bottom of the ocean. This would prevent her sacred land, where her power was the most concentrated, from ever being abused at the hands of mortals again.
The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few indeed the Planet thought mournfully.
With the sinking of Midgar much knowledge was lost to the outside world, humans returning to their roots, forgetting the technological advancements that had been made even in other countries.
The Planet wanted her children to have a fresh start after nearly destroying themselves, so she erased all knowledge of the advancements humanity had made.
The Planet then turned to her champions who had defended her so fiercely, and the fallen hero who had been through so much at the hands of his fellow man, none of it he deserved.
She decided to give them all a second chance at life in the future.
Our story begins 10,000 years later when another evil, an old controlling man who in his willing ignorance and refusal to see that the magical traditions were there for a reason was doing more harm than good, threatens the world. The Planet calls upon her champions to once again defend her from this threat.
