"Dinner will be ready in an hour, sweetie," Mama said, kissing the top of Marinette's head. "Thanks for helping with the gingerbread. I wonder why Cat didn't insist on sitting in front of the oven door like he usually does."
Cat was sure if no one watched the oven, the gingerbread men would leap and run away as soon as someone opened the oven. But Cat had wanted to stay upstairs while Marinette had helped in the kitchen.
"I should go check on him," Marinette said. "Who knows what kind of trouble he's getting into." As she was turning to the stairs, her phone rang. Alya.
Well, there weren't any thumps or crashes coming from her room. Her Kitty should be fine for a few more minutes…..
Meanwhile, upstairs, Cat was intending to important business. Important bat the ball on the string business. But it was hanging to high on the ceiling for him to bat at with his paws. Cat plopped down on his bottom, staring at the sparkly toy just out of his reach. Swish, swish, the plotting had begin. Maybe Plagg would have a few suggestions? It would be a bit risky, for Marinette was only downstairs and could walk in at any time. But she did say she be awhile, and the ornament was just so sparkly and shiny.
"Claws In." "Ooh, my aching belly," Plagg moaned as he popped out of the ring. "Is there any cheese?" "Plagg, we haven't even had dinner yet! But I need your help." Plagg looked up at him. "My help? With what?" Adrien pointed the ceiling, and looked back down at his Kwami with a grin.
Plagg gave him a look of disgust. "Buy me all the cheese in the world, kid, but I am not helping you kiss under the mistletoe!" Huh, Adrien hadn't even that of that, but not with Plagg! "No, gross! No, I need to play with the onerament, but its out of reach!"
Plagg sighed. "Haven't you thought of using your baton?" Realization dawned on Adrien's face. "Why didn't I think of that?" "Because all you think about your ladies?" "Ha, ha. Plagg, Claws Out!"
It was easily to lower the ornament, and Cat was just reaching a paw up when he heard a noise behind him. "Ahem!"
"Yes?" Cat turned slowly, hoping to look innocent. "What are you doing with that paw, Cat? And how did you lower my ornament?" "Secret. Please, Princess. I need to swipe!"
Marinette sighed. "Fine. After dinner." Taking his hand, she started to lead him downstairs. "I'll be back," Cat said, staring longingly at his potential toy. For now, food awaits!
