Chapter 6 WW1984 spoilers…of a sort

Etta whirled around, dodging the sword with ease for a sixty-seven year old. Her eyes widen at the sight of Steve Trevor. She stumbled back in shock. "Steve?! What?"

Steve Trevor started forward slowly then collapsed.

Etta with surprisingly speed for her age, leaped forward and caught Steve before he face-planted onto the concrete roof.

"Steve? Mr. Trevor?! Snap out of it right this instant!"

A large, but gentle hand stopped her slap from connecting with Steve's face. "That's not going to do any good. He's not here."

"And you are?" Etta Candy said sharply tightening her grip on Steve despite the strain on her body turning to look at the man who can up to her.

"I am Thor. I believe I know what happened to Trevor."

"His name is Steve." Etta sharply said.

"Well we have another Steve here, so we call this Steve, Trevor. He doesn't mind." Steve stepped up to explain the situation. Etta studied the young man.

"And you are?" Etta asked again.

"I'm Captain Steve Rogers. His nephew, well kinda." He fought the urge to squirm under the old woman's gaze. It reminded him of a cross between Natasha spy mode and his grandma's gentle you must eat mode. It was an unsettling feeling that was broken by her huge sigh.

"Well you better have some really good chocolate to help you explain what is going on. And you Thor, if that means what I think it means then this Chief here and I had to guess, another trickster." With that, the stout but strong lady let Thor take Trevor inside as Napi muttered to himself, 'That was only one time. Ok, fine twice maybe."

Loki wondered at the story there.

Steve Trevor found himself staring at Diana, almost disbelieving his eyes as he spoke the words that he said the last time he saw her, willing her to believe. As he kissed her, Steve never wanted to let go.

But as he tried to explain to Diana later about where he had been, he couldn't find the words because he honestly couldn't remember. He knew he went someplace else, but it wasn't heaven, but it was good.

Somehow he didn't die, but as much as he tried to remember as he cleaned his host's body's bedroom and apartment. To be honest to himself, went a bit nuts with all the awesome things that the future held, the only thing he could remember was punching his grandfather, that is if he didn't have a beard. He didn't know why.

When Steve was explaining how he found Diana. Then exclaiming that his host body was in a handsome fellow, and how he liked him, when Diana said, "All I see is you," a chill went down Steve's spine, borrowed that it was. Something was horribly wrong, but he didn't know what.

As a gentleman, he let Diana have the futon, because honestly it was easier to sleep on the floor, that bed was a horrible thing that ever came out of humanity's future. It didn't prevent him from slipping into the bed when Diana asked him to, but when she tried to seduce him, Steve couldn't, just couldn't.

It wasn't if Steve didn't want Diana, that was quite clear to both of them. He really, really, really wanted to sink into her and never leave, but somehow despite being shirtless and Diana looking like heaven, they just fell asleep together, after talking almost all night long.

It felt wrong. Besides he had a feeling he'll see her again, and then they'll go to town and stay up all night into the morning.

When he woke up, Diana was curled around him like a snake, never wanting to let go. Steve just studied her face, wanting never to leave, and he said that when she woke up. He almost gave into her kisses until her inquiry of how he came to be there was like a cold shower.

When Steve was flying the plane, and Diana mentioned radar, he mentally went duh, oh course then wondered briefly how he could fly the plane and know what radar was. But Diana's turning the jet invisible swept all of that out of his mind as he gazed at the fireworks in awe. The 4th of July had his mind go to that direction for some reason, his grandfather's youthful face flashed in his mind.

But instead of dwelling, Steve found himself explaining his gift of flight to Diana, how easy it was and took her hand.

He didn't want to let go. Ever. Every day and night when he kept spending time with Diana, as clear as they wanted each other physically, Diana agreed with him, reluctantly not to sleep sleep with him. So instead they cuddled with as much skin bare as possible. One night he laughed her to sleep with some of the old team stories before she arrived. The urge was strong, but he confessed one night that as more as he got to know Diana in other ways the more he fell in love with her. Diana felt the same. But they only voice this thought when the other one was asleep.

In the end, Steve let her go this time, instead of him letting Diana go, Steve gave her up, and in the end said, "I'm already gone." Steve left before he could finish his statement, 'but I'll see you again.'

The first time Steve realized when he woke up in his own body was a snoring Etta sitting at his side. A half eaten box of really expensive chocolates by her side. The second thing was he was violently sick. Thankfully Natasha was coming in to relieve Etta and got his puke in a bedpan in time.

When he tried to talk, everything that happened to him flashed through his mind and he couldn't speak. In the end, all that he could do was send Etta off with a note to Diana to look at after Etta requested it to.
