LW: Happy birthday to me, and to celebrate this day I have a special surprise for everyone! The 1st 3 chapters of my newest idea, a My Hero/Yugioh Crossover. Please enjoy, and have a good year!

Your move Hero! - The boy who sees spirits

"Kachan check this out!" a young boy with a fluffy green mop of hair yells, setting a card on the table where it glows and something pops out

"Kuri?"

"Really, a shitty Kuriboh, man what a lame quirk" the blond 'Kachan' laughs "They're weak" he shouts smacking the puffball with an explosive slap, causing it to go off like a firecracker "See we…"

"Kuriboh detonate on contact with other living things" Izuku defends "Your explosion just set it off, it even made a bigger mark on the table than a normal explosion" he adds, pointing to the black mark on the table

"Katsuki what did I say about exploding in the living room!" Mitsuki shouts from the other room

"It was Deku's shitty quirk's fault!" Katsuki shouts back, catching the attention of both kid's mothers

"Izuku, you're quirk came in?" his mother Inko gasps, smiling tearfully

"Yep, check it out" Izuku beams, the card glowing once again, a very annoyed Kuriboh popping out, shaking its tiny fist in Katsuki's direction and squeaking furiously at the blond bomber

"You want another round fuzzball?" Bakugo sneers, palms sparking as he tries for another slap, only for the Kuriboh to bounce out of the way, bodyslam the kid's face and bounce off onto Izuku's bush of a hairdo

"Kuri, kuri"

"I don't think he likes you Kachan" Izuku notes

"No shit Deku, of course, the puffball doesn't like me"

That evening

'Sleep well Little One, you'll get stronger with time' a voice whispers on the wind causing the half-asleep verdette to roll over on his side and smile

Late Afternoon the next day

"Thank you for being so cooperative while we were running all those tests Young Midoriya they were very useful for determining just what your quirk can actually do" the doctor explains, now the 3 of them were sitting back in his office

"So, what can you tell us?" Inko asks nervously

"For one your son seems to produce an unknown form of energy, his cells are practically surging with it, in fact, technically this energy production is your son's actual quirk" the doctor says excitedly

Inko blinks "But what about the monsters?"

"They seem to be what he uses the energy for. There was a measurable drop or drain whenever we had him summon a monster or activate a spell card, though oddly enough not the monster's effects unless there was a cost to use it"

"Maybe the effect is paid for by the summon" Izuku think aloud, though sounded quieter and more tired than he normally was

"A reasonable hypothesis young man. So, have any idea what you want to call your quirk?"

Izuku hums "You said my quirk is the energy, not the summons right?" the doctor nods "Duel Energy!"

The doctor chuckles "Makes sense. Though I'd advise caution using it even if Japan didn't have such strict public quirk laws. Even though the summons are made by your quirk, their images still belong to Industrial Illusions" he explains

Izuku's eyes widen "But, how can I be a hero if I can't use my quirk?" he gasps, then turns as his Mom squeezes his shoulder

"Don't worry Izu, everything will be fine. It could be a simple matter of emailing to discuss with the company in the future, and really, if you become a big name hero you'll basically be free advertising for Yugioh" she assures him, making Izuku beam.

A few months later

"You're hurting him, stop that Kachan!" Izuku shouts, standing between the blond and the brunette kid on the ground behind him

"Punk needs to learn not to mess with me Deku" Bakugo sneers "Now get out of my way"

Boom

Clang!

"Run, now" Izuku wheezes, leaning against the large golden shield in front of him.

"See Deku, how do you expect to be a hero when you can't even stand after a single su….motherfucker!" Bakugo sneers until the Millennium Shield slams into his face, the crunch potentially meaning his nose was broken

"One Level 5 summon" Izuku pants "which can stand up to your attacks without even a mark on it" he gives a hint of a tired smile, as the shield's details weren't even scuffed "Plus, it's a monster on its own, meaning it can defend and attack, while I recover enough to save people, or summon someone else to assist myself and them. I can get stronger, and I will be a hero!"

Izuku's next birthday

Izuku looks between the spirit who'd been following him around and the first card to come from his newest pack. Back and forth, neither spirit nor summoner blinking before he finally speaks "Yubel" he says quietly before grinning

"Did you get something good Izuku?" Inko asks, peering over his shoulder "Hm, maybe not, seems like a lot of work for not a lot of monster, no attack on a Level 10?"

"She doesn't need it, in fact, ATK would weaken her effect, too bad there's no way for her to have a negative attack stat, then even if they run other 0's into her they still 'Take Da Damage', but oh well" Izuku shrugs

[Because as Shinta said in his reviews, 2 things worry Yugioh players, 0 ATK monsters, because they almost always have broken effects and single-line effect text]

"I think you've gotten your wires crossed in your enthusiasm kiddo, given I'm pretty sure it's the one with the lower attack that takes the damage in the game" Hisashi chuckles to which Izuku nods, then grins

"Normally… unless your card's effect negates battle damage, converts it into effect damage, and inflicts it onto your opponent, while also being unable to be destroyed by battle, and anything but bouncing her results in an even stronger monster being summoned" the quirk and Yugioh nerd/expert explains, getting an approving nod from the fiend type, happy to be appreciated, especially by her new charge, the eyes already shining with a familiar intellect, this might actually be fun, especially as she knows he can see her clear as day.

[Time Skip - Izuku age 8] Industrial Illusions

"Roland" the suited man turns to his boss "I've just received a very interesting email and quirk report, the name of which is remarkably familiar. Do we employ a Midoriya by any chance?"

"I believe he was recommended to take Miss Kurama's place as head of the Design Department a month ago, Midoriya Hisashi"

His boss nods "Send him up to me, I want to confirm his connection before telling him to book flights for his family. If all goes well we may just make Yugioh as big of a global sensation as it was back in the Pre-Quirk Era" he grins, looking at the photo at the bottom of the report: 4-year-old Izuku Midoriya, grinning widely while flanked by Hero Kid and Evil HERO Infernal Prodigy.

1 week later

"Welcome Midori boy, I hear you have quite a unique quirk"

"Yes, Mr. Pegasus Sir" Izuku answers, shaking as he sits between his parents, across from the current CEO of Industrial Illusions and owner of Yugioh, Maximilian Pegasus

"Relax child, I asked your father to invite you here because you intrigue me plus there's the fact that if your dream comes true, you running around using our cards to save people would be fabulous for business. It might also help me hash out some inspiration issues with the new heroes I've been considering" he muses

"Really?" Izuku squeaks

"Yes, Midori boy. Now I'd like a little demonstration if you'd allow me, and as sacrilegious as it sounds I hope you don't already have a Toon Deck as I plan to give you one whether this goes well or not. Mostly because I was curious about whether there's a difference if the card has history or are bran….oh" the man stops to run his fingers where Toon Summoned Skull's chin was, the spirit grins over his shoulder "Just like Grandfather" he mutters

"Um, Sir, are you ok?" Hisashi asks

"Perfectly, I was just surprised by an undisclosed aspect of your son's marvelous quirk. Didn't want to look crazy or something ay Midori-boy?" he chuckles as Izuku blushes

"Y-y-yeah, um how did you know Sir?"

"My quirk, Shared Sight, allows me to see out of the eyes of other people, as long as they are within a certain distance. It's useful as a designer and artist to see things from different angles…" he then pushes his hair from his face to reveal a scar across his left eye "...and it's also the only way I can 'see' out of my left eye since the accident"

"What are you both talking about?" Inko asks

"Your boy can see the spirits of the cards, which tells me this is more than a simple quirk, the boy's been touched by the shadows" he raises a hand to stop the arguments for a moment "I mean nothing by it, just that the origin of Yugioh is Ancient Egyptian Shadow Games, and if Midori-boy can see the spirits unassisted, while it took a magical artifact known as a Millenium Item for my Grandfather, then he is greatly in tune with the so-called 'Shadow Magic' Miss Midoriya"

"Izu?" Hisashi calls "Is this true?"

"Yes Dad"

"Why did you never tell us?"

"I, didn't want to seem weirder, my quirk is always kind of… odd" Izuku sighs, his guardian ruffling his hair and whispering that he'll be ok

"Oh Izuku, you goof, we'll never let you feel bad for your quirk" Inko cries, cuddling him for a couple of minutes "Now I suppose we should let you show off what we already know you can do ay kiddo?"

Izuku nods "Yeah, let's do this"

"Here we go, time for the demonstration" Pegasus grins widely as he slides his deck over to the boy

"Knowing my luck I draw Blue Eyes" Izuku chuckles weakly then draws "Um, do you have a table mat? Sorry, it's just this will be the 1st field spell I activate with my quirk" he asks with a blush, to which the adults just chuckle

"No problem Young Midoriya, I actually do, sometimes when trying to work out new ideas it's easier to just play a little 'Paper Yugioh' as they call it, than mess with the holograms" Pegasus replies, sliding over a game mat with a smiling and winking Toon DMG over on the Deck slot "You can keep this too afterward, as well as the new deck"

"Ok, here goes nothing" Izuku mutters as he plays the 1st card

Toon Kingdom Activate!

A wind rushed through the meeting room before with a heavy thud a worn-looking large green book drops out of thin air, as well as 3 cards flew off Izuku's deck and getting blacked out

"Incredible, it's solid" he muses, picking up and opening the book, then set it down so it could open up like the card shows "Draw a full hand this time, that way you won't feel forced to summon something you can't or even just don't want to"

Izuku nods, drawing 5 cards, summons the Toon Gemini Elves, their card shining as well as the book, which turns to the next page before both Toons jump out

"We're out and free!"

"All thanks to the little Spirit Caller"

"So cute, if he were a toon everyone would watch"

Izuku turns deep red, then gets light-headed for a moment as a mature voice speaks up

"Ladies, don't you know how to behave?" an older woman/spirit scolds, and despite her low stats in the card game, the power in her eyes was staggering

"We apologize!" the toons comply, bowing their heads

"That's better. I'm sorry Izu-kun, but sometimes a heavier hand is required"

"Fascinating, where did this one come from?" Pegasus asks

"That's Mom's spirit, Galaxy Queen" Izuku explains, the spirit waves at Inko who waves back robotically due to shock

"Aw, even your soul is lovely Inko my love. Though I wonder what my spirit is" Hisashi muses

"Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" Izuku answers, his father chuckles as a part of him knew it was probably going to be a dragon based on his quirk at least

"Midori-boy, did you manifest her yourself?" Pegasus asks

"Well, sort of. Duel Spirits seem to be able to manifest themselves if they absorb enough energy, as Galaxy Queen is a Rank 1 monster so she doesn't need much to summon herself even without the normal requirements for an XYZ summon"

"So you're saying they can absorb energy runoff from other cards affected by your quirk?"

Izuku waves his hand like a scale "Somewhat, most cards give off very little excess energy, usually continous or Field Spells, Galaxy Queen used Toon Kingdom because it produces an energy field to maintain it's AOE power to summon Toons. Speaking of…" the Gemini Elves glow and poof into sparkles which blow back into Toon Kingdom, who's pages flutter before, despite being indoors a bolt of lightning strikes it, and on the page was

Toon Summoned Skull

"Heya Boss, nice to finally meet ya" the toon greets, shaking Pegasus' hand

The man blinks "My Grandfather did he…"

"Nah , his was Relinquished. But given his shadow magic and love of Toon Monsters, most of us knew the guy pretty well. Speaking of, nice to see some new blood enter the magic game" the Toon cackles, lightly booping Izuku with his wing

Pegasus chuckles "I think I've seen enough to know you'll be very interesting in the future. If your father could keep me posted on any development with your quirk or magic as well as the Spirits anyone else that catches your eye, especially Heroes"

"Kachan's spirit is Jigen Bakudan. Makes sense given he has an explosion quirk" Izuku adds which causes the adults to laugh

Time Skip - 5 years later

"I think you missed a step Izu-kun" Ghostrick Mary, one of the few spirits capable of manifesting without cost (providing she manifests in A, rather than HER mirror) hums as Izuku squats, the spectral form of Ghostrick Socuteboss floating up and down as his back rises and falls

"I'm just here for fun, and watching Izu train certainly counts," the XYZ Ghostrick says, licking her lips

"Besides this isn't for strength or stamina but flexibility" Izuku explains as he stops, the spellcaster pouts and fades away as the zombie rolls her eyes "Anyway got to get ready for school, see you later" he grins as he runs off to take a shower

Later at school

"Seriously nerd, how the fuck did you manage to win this year's tournament with fucking Ghostricks of all things?" Bakugo groans at lunch to which the verdette shrugs

"I like to tinker and strategize, every deck can be used to win, Ghostricks even has several options including their own win condition, straight beatdown, direct damaging, spinning cards, as well as a deck out/mill strategy" he replies

"They're still a pain in the ass" Bakugo mutters which causes Izuku to chuckle "Seriously Deku why haven't you considered just becoming a Pro Duelist, you win every tournament with a different deck, so you've got the variety and skills? Why fixate on being a hero?"

Izuku shrugged "It's what I've always wanted to be, I'm not trying to convince you to go into the Demolition industry even though your quirk is perfect for it, so let me keep my dream"

Bakugo sighs "Fair, but you've at least considered it as a 2nd option, or even side gig. Other pros have extra jobs, Present Mic has his radio show and besides merch, a lot of pros have specialized products, like Best Jeanist's denim outfits or Uwabami's fashion products, Mom always gets hired to wear her shit by the way"

Izuku chuckles "I never said Pro Duelist wasn't on the cards, it was just secondary to Hero in my mind. Now you said you wanted some help with a new deck"

Bakugo groans "Buster Blader, dragon-slaying badass… when I can get the thing to actually fucking work!"
