Steve and Janice returned at 4 a m. Greg's house was small, with only two bedrooms. Greg insisted the First take the spare bedroom while the others found spots on couches and chairs to sleep. The returning pair went into Ralph's room and woke him.
Once he realized who they were, he got up and followed them into the command center. "What did you guys find?"
Steve connected a line from his suit, Lenny, to a computer and uploaded everything Lenny recorded during the break-in and the critical files they discovered. Ralph studied the documents and recognized the smoking gun. The Numiko Corp was not just polluting the atmosphere. They made the specialized green guy circuit boards for the suit deactivation rods and the invisibility frequency monitors. They had a huge stockpile at the warehouse, marked as the RED PROJECT. If they were assembled with the other required components, thousands of units would be created, and the Hero League could be devastated, if they were all utilized.
As far as the Hero League knew, only two prototypes of the deactivation rod had been assembled, and about 20-30 invisibility frequency monitors were created. With the discovery of thousands of electronic boards, Ralph wondered if more completed units were stashed somewhere.
He called the Hero League director and reported what they had found.
Eric said, "I'll call an incursion team together to raid the place."
"Not yet, hold off. Something else even bigger is going on, I'm sure of it. These circuit boards are only a part of the whole picture. We still don't know what is happening with Congress and aren't certain if other assembly plants for the devices are active. One plant was destroyed in Brazil, but there may be more. We have more investigation to do first."
Eric acquiesced. "Okay, you're right. We'll make the plans but put them on hold until your investigation is further along."
"I'll keep you updated when we have more information."
That morning, Quinn, Norman, and Greg took off for the Capitol building. Greg knew the underground passages to enter the government building. They slipped in while invisible and went to the Senate Chamber. The senators were leisurely entering and taking their seats. The Hero telepath walked among the congressmen and women, careful not to touch any of them, and did a light reading on each one. So far, they were all human. He checked on some of the staff aides who were present and found only five green guys. He had his suit record their names off their badges.
Quinn telepathically sent the information to Lewis so he could start working on hacking their computers and cell phones. The IT specialist told Ralph what had been determined. There weren't very many aliens in the Senate. Maybe more are in the House of Representatives. Quinn, Norman, and Greg came back late in the afternoon. The team discussed the issues and decided that Quinn, Norman, and Greg would go the next day and read the House members. Steve and Janice would break into the green guy's and the Senator's offices later that night and install hidden cameras and listening devices.
