Chapter 32, "The Unveiling"
The stare-down continued.
Virus & Yukine glaring upon the other. Both not bothering to exchange insults. They were more than ready to get this match over with. Prepared to bring the other down.
It wasn't personal, unlike the previous bout.
No, it was just business.
While Virus moved into his fighting stance, Yukine opted not to. Remaining as he was, arms folded. He didn't even bother to keep his guard.
Did he think so little of his opponent?
From the stands, Virus's friends looked on. The look of concern on the faces of Sam, Hunter & Vegeku. They did have reason after all, as they've all witnessed what Yukine was capable of. The fact that Yukine put on a gory spectacle during his last battle. Ripping the arm off Muffin Button.
Even Muffin Button was intimidated by Yukine's presence. Quiet with a depressed look on his face. Quite the opposite of Muffin's usual demeanor.
Yukine remained silent. Merely making a hand gesture, beckoning Virus to come forward.
With a scoff under his breath, Virus would waste no time. Transforming into his Super Saiyan Two state & charging forward. Virus was not slow by any means, appearing within range of Yukine & throwing haymakers. But sadly, none connected. As Yukine would evade in swift succession. Not trying at all when it came to dodging.
Just effortlessly remaining unscathed. Surprising even the likes of Virus. He knew he was fast, after all he did witness Yukine's previous battle with Muffin. And though he hated to admit it, Muffin was fast in his own right. But this guy..? He was much faster…faster than he thought.
And while he wasn't exactly known for his strength, Virus certainly was known for his speed. Being the fastest among his peers.
& Yet Yukine was treating him so low. Not a change in expression on the face of the Dark-Star student. Not a hint of frustration or concern on Yukine's face or body movements. He acted so smooth. Punch after punch after punch. All were misses.
Virus followed this up with a kick, but alas, Yukine avoided being hit. Backflipping over Virus & landing gracefully on his feet.
Back turned to Virus. Yukine's head only partially turned to glare at Virus, silver eyes focused on his long haired opponent.
Not bothered by this, Virus launched himself forward. Attempting yet another strike! But Yukine sidestepped, catching Virus by surprise once more. He would catch himself in time to attempt several kicks, but Yukine couldn't be touched! He seemed to be on another league! But that didn't intimidate Virus! No, he wouldn't lose.
With every single attack attempted, he would get nothing but air. Yukine continuing to evade. But strangely enough, he had yet to attack. Virus noticed this, prompting him to realize something.
Upping the ante, he backed away. His power level spiking, Virus prepared to show off his newfound speed. Charging forward, he had the intention to push Yukine's limits. And he did just that, just *narrowly* close to landing his very first hit on Yukine!
Yukine's eyes widened briefly over this, seeing how close Virus had come to knocking his lights out with his strike! Regaining his composure quicker than he lost it, he observed Virus' more aggressive set of attacks. Prompting Yukine to move quicker.
But he could only dodge for so long. He'd have to act sooner rather than later.
Just when he planned on catching his opponent by surprise, Virus was the one to capitalize on the situation. He was the one pulling off the surprise here!
Instead of going for yet another close range strike, Virus would maneuver to the side of his opponent & put his palm out. Unleashing a powerful energy beam at close range! This launching right between Yukine's very own eyes!
BOOOOOOM!
A loud explosion created, Virus's energy wave seemingly taking Yukine out. Engulfing the Dark Star student's entire body! All eyes were on this, no doubt he was taken out. Not even Yukine would've been able to dodge that as he was just inches from Virus's palm!
The ground shook for a moment, but of course that did not last forever as the energy wave soon subsided as soon as it appeared. But much to Virus's surprise, he could see Yukine remain in place. Standing just as he was before, only his arms were folded.
Surrounding him were orange flames, serving as a unique barrier of sorts. This being used to shield him from any damage. And it was effective, not a single scratch to be found on his body.
"What?!"
Virus mumbled, slightly frustrated over this. Here he thought this worked. But no, Yukine managed to surprise him yet again.
"Try as you might, you're not finishing the job. You're just not capable."
Yukine declared.
To which Virus simply scoffed. He didn't care what Yukine had to say. He was going to prove him wrong anyway. No words or rebuttal necessary.
"I've seen all I've needed to…brace yourself."
Yukine warned.
In that moment, a shimmer was found in his eyes. And suddenly, he moved forward. Blitzing past a shocked Virus, who turned around only to be met with a fist to the face. Virus tumbling forward. He was quick to catch himself, his feet coming to a screech.
He turned around in time to see a number of fiery red ki blasts being sent toward him. Launching himself into the air in order to avoid them, he shot a number of ki blasts of his own toward the other.
Pink ki blasts making its way to Yukine, who deflected each & every single one. A weak effort, Yukine thought to himself.
Flabbergasted over this, Virus knew he couldn't waste time playing any games. With a low shout, his hair begun to grow slightly in length. Become even wilder in appearance. His eyebrows vanishing, it was clear he has now entered Super Saiyan Three.
Yukine scoffed over this. By no means did he feel threatened.
He soared into the sky to meet with his transformed opponent, Yukine entering his Super Saiyan state as he prepared to strike Virus down. Intending on finishing off with his next blow. But Virus wasn't going to let this happen. Ducking at the very last second, he went for a knee to the gut of Yukine, to which Yukine responds by blocking this, using a mixture of his strength & Virus's own momentum to flip him.
Yukine swinging a fist to Virus's chest. But Virus managed to block this as well, keeping himself from receiving damage, aside from his trembling arms stinging slightly from blocking such a heavy attack. Though he was pushed back, Virus knew not to let Yukine take advantage. Keeping a fair distance away from him as he backed up.
But Yukine was intent on ending this battle soon. Thus, he advanced forward. Moving with quickness. Virus, however, took notice of this. Thinking strategically, Virus moved both hands beside his eyes. Making use of the 'Solar Flare' technique to blind his opponent.
But instead of falling for it as someone else usually would've done, Yukine instead teleported. Appearing behind Virus & delivering a thunderous kick to the back. Followed by an elbow to the back of his head, sending Virus crashing below.
Yukine floated in the air, awaiting the result of the attack. Patiently waiting to find a body.
"….."
When the dust had finally settled, Virus was nowhere to be found. Surprising the likes of the Dark-Star member, who quickly glanced to the left— only to be met with a fierce punch to the chest. Virus catching him with a direct blow for the first time, smirk seen on the face of the long haired Saiyan!
"That's a hit! A clean hit!" Sam shouts, a grin found on the student's face.
Vegeku pumping both fists after what he's just seen.
"That's my boy! Virus got him good! Take that Yukine, you cocky prick!"
He shouts.
He may have landed a direct hit on Yukine, but from his stone cold expression, it seems he didn't necessarily feel much pain. In fact, one could argue it did nothing to him.
He's not even tensing up or giving a hint that Virus's attack hurt him!
Yukine merely staring him down. As this moment went on, a blue aura emanated from his body. Earning a puzzled look on the face of Virus. Regardless, Virus went for another attack. Landing several blows onto his opponent, landing a hit on every single area of his body.
But…this didn't affect him..?
Yukine showing no evidence that he was being harmed in any way, shape or form. He just stood there, still as a statue. In fact he was even allowing Virus to attack him. The crazy thing was, nothing was working..!
A set of kicks were made, but still nothing.
Yukine simply shook his head in silence before back-handing Virus away, swatting him as if he were a fly. Hand out, he unleashed several blasts of violet energy blasts toward Virus. Who struggled to defend himself given he had just taken a blow to the face.
But he managed to deflect each blast. Virus groaning to himself. Seeing Yukine approach rapidly, Virus swung for another direct hit.
"..Big mistake.."
Yukine announced. Him phasing away instantly.
Virus shocked to learn Yukine had appeared behind him, unleashing a red energy wave. This ki-based attack taking form of a spear as it struck its target in the back. Sending him flying across. That didn't stop Yukine from flying to his opponent. Unleashing a prolonged combo upon him.
It seemed as though Yukine had decided to play with his food a little.
KO taking note of this, the leader merely scoffing.
Rykon expressing his disappointment in this, as he found this to be distasteful.
"He could just finish Virus off now..why bother to make him hurt..?"
Glaze giving a light shrug.
"You know how Yukine is…he can switch like a light. One moment he's willing to end things as quickly as possible, the next he wants to make his opponent hurt for as long as possible."
Shadow smirking slightly.
"Eh. It's what that loser Virus deserves. He deserves all the pain in the world for what he did to me during our fight. He's unlucky to have Yukine as his opponent."
Which was true, given what he did to Muffin Button..
Managing to block the next strike, Virus attempted a comeback. But Yukine wouldn't allow for this, instead crashing his elbow against Virus's face before huffing & shooting out a blood red beam of energy at Virus at direct point, sending him tumbling backwards.
Virus having no choice but to force some of his ki out from his entire body, using this to force Yukine away. Fortunately, this tactic worked.
But only temporarily, as Yukine begun to charge his ki. Channeling some more energy into his next attack.
Smart enough to know he shouldn't just sit around & let Yukine charge his power. He made for an attack of his own.
"Sudden Storm."
Unleashing several pink blasts toward Yukine, who responded by shooting out what seemed to be bolts of lightning from his gloved hands. A strange ability.
These projectiles neutralizing Virus's ki blasts.
Speeding over, unfazed by what he's just seen, Virus rapidly approached Yukine. Not risking whatever Yukine had planned for him. Pulling his own right arm back, he prepared a surge of ki into his palm. Throwing his arm out in front of Yukine, unleashing a fiery-orange blast that grew in size. Blowing the surrounding area of the stage away in the process, hopefully along with Yukine.
But Virus was far from finished.
Floating high into the sky, he used more ki blasts to harm his opponent.
"Scattered shot."
The name of the technique being given.
Dozens upon dozens were being shot to where Yukine's presence was last felt. His ki fading slowly. Virus knowing his attacks were now paying off.
Or so he assumed.
As he continued to fire down these ki blasts, a large dome-like blue coloured sphere surrounded the area below! A strange thing to witness! Of course one would think this to be a barrier of sorts used for Yukine to protect himself…but something seemed off..
Why was Yukine's ki continuing to fade..?
Everyone was confused over this ordeal…
…Except for those of Dark-Star.
Each member looking on in silence. Knowing what was about to happen. What was to occur.
A rare moment to be seen.
Once in a lifetime even.

The once blue skies begun to turn gray thanks to the appearance of many large clouds. Darkening the arena below. Thunder beginning to boom loudly, shaking the ground below.
BOOM—!
Large winds appeared, blowing back Virus's long hair. His golden aura the only bright light seen around the entire arena. These winds beginning to swirl, creating miniature tornadoes as they floated beside the tournament stage.
With the additional claps of thunder, lightning begun to strike down from the heavens, hitting the earth with great force.
Jumpscaring the likes of Vegeku, who yelped like a small child in response. Quickly covering his mouth with use of his hand.
This dome would suddenly crack! Bit by bit, the cracks would grow in scale. In that moment, a roar of a dragon was let out, this allowing several cracks of this dome to shatter like glass. Bright lights shining from the inside. This massive dome opening like a shell.
Surrounding the arena in light once the dome shattered completely!
Virus backing slowly as he set his eyes down below. Blue eyes settling upon a figure that stood below. A few tiles of the stage slowly floating beside the individual.
"What on earth…"
Sam mumbled.
"What did he just do…?"
Hunter asks.
The two slowly looking at each other. The realization hitting them like a truck.
Muffin Button was silent, expression full of disbelief.
Fear.

If anyone thought Yukine was terrifying before…
He was on a completely new level this time.
Virus himself felt a shiver run down his spine. Goosebumps forming along his arms.
Ice-blue eyes fixated on virus. A slow zoom out would reveal this individual to be Yukine. Who has undergone a unique transformation.
Bearing the markings similar to Hunter & Sam's own unique forms. Only diamond blue in color. His spiky hair now becoming a sky blue with silver tint.
This form revealing Yukine to be a Dragon Holder.
"That guy…Yukine…"
Kobyashi mumbled, having stopped in the middle of a hallway the moment he felt such awesome power. Knowing full well what this meant.
Hunter & Sam in disbelief.
As was Gokon, who stood in the winners' room. Fists clenched. The man who almost killed his own brother. That psychopath, Yukine…has revealed his true strength.
Yukine stood in silence for the longest moment before extending both arms.
"…This is my most powerful form…the form that will bring you to your knees…"
An immense bolt of lightning would strike behind Yukine, who was unfazed. A smirk forming on his features.
"…I…am the Dragon of Lightning…"
