"Hey, it's time for dinner," Yamaguchi tried to wake Kitsuna. Most of the team had already enjoyed the bath and were milling about or settling in further. Some had headed to the dining hall, too. Hinata had a really short bath, and was being helped along to keep from overexerting himself.
"Hm?," Kitsuna let out a quiet acknowledgement but didn't move. If anything she seemed to sink further into her makeshift pillow. Yamaguchi groaned a little bit, unsure what to do after the first failed attempt.
"Kistuna. Dinner," Sugawara stepped in and nudged her a little more forcefully. The girl moaned and groaned more, but did at least stand up. Her eyes were still closed as she was guided to the dining hall and seated at the low table.
Exhaustion was taking over for several of them now, but Kitsuna's was by far the worst with her nearly drifting off in the middle of eating. Daichi made sure to keep her awake so she finished her food, though. Once she finished, he urged her to go clean up before she went to bed.
"Tired," Kitsuna whined back lazily. Daichi's patience was running thin, and it was starting to show on his face. He was about to snap at her when Kiyoko swooped in to save the situation, tapping Kitsuna's shoulder and whispering something to her.
"Thanks," Daichi bowed his head slightly at the other girl. She smiled back in reply and led Kitsuna out of the dining hall.
Kitsuna was still out of it as she stripped down and showered off. Kiyoko joined her, and washed her messy and matted hair. She felt sort of like a big sister with the red haired girl sometimes, and this was one of those times. Kitsuna rinsed off and sank into the outdoor bath, letting out a refreshed sigh as the water rose up over her shoulders. The two of them soaked there for a good while as the sun sank down and night fell over them. Kitsuna finally returned to her senses after a relaxing soak, mostly. She was definitely awake at least, blinking around through the steam.
"Huh? Oh. Thanks, I think?," Kitsuna muttered to Kiyoko. Her words were slurred slightly, and her cheeks flushed a little bit. Kiyoko just smiled back, unsure what to say. She was fairly certain the one who should be receiving such gratitude was in fact the one giving it, though. The older girl pressed her hand against Kitsuna's face, checking her temperature.
"Let's get dried off. You might be worse than Hinata right now," Kiyoko got out of the bath first, then pulled Kitsuna along. The younger girl was zoned out completely as she dried off and her friend dried her hair with the hairdryer and a brush. They got dressed, Kiyoko braiding Kitsuna's hair once more, and carried their stuff back to the room. There was a tv set up in one corner, and a small huddle of boys around it. One was bundled up under a blanket, eyes glued to the screen as it aired the second half of their match.
"Hinata, you need to rest my dude," Tanaka poked at the human-sized cocoon. Kitsuna joined them in front of the tv, curling up and yawning beside Hinata.
"Let him watch, at least. Don't need to do much for that," she said through another yawn.
The others gave up their push, but still checked in on the two of them occasionally. Keishin provided some drinks, and the others brought back a range of snacks and other drinks. They all did their own thing, while Takeda reviewed the general plan for the next day. Several turned in for the night, eager to be refreshed and ready for the next day.
"Hey, save the studies for later," Daichi warned Suga before turning in himself. He turned off the lights and went to tell the other two night owls to go to sleep. He stifled a laugh when he looked down at them, and simply turned off the tv set without a word. Suga shot the captain a look, but Daichi just held a finger over his lips and pulled a blanket over Kitsuna's shoulders. He spread out a futon behind the two of them and crawled into his own after forcing Suga's notebook closed.
The next morning, there was a light rapping at the door to the room. Daichi, a painfully light sleeper in winter months, rolled out of bed first to check the door. He pulled it open to see an older man, sort of frail looking and tired. He had a bolt of gray in his messy black hair, and eyes that were the color of honey in the sun. Stubble dotted his chin, and he shrank back under the teen's tired glare.
"Sorry. Um, there'll be breakfast served in an hour, on the house. If you wanted to head down," the man squeaked out that announcement and pointed down the hall toward the dining area. He bowed his head and hurried away, leaving Daichi there with a hard scowl on his face. He had a sinking feeling that he knew that face, but shook it off and took some time to rouse the other sleeping students and chaperones. Once most were up, Takeda sleepily explained the day's itinerary again to them all. He moved over to where Hinata had fallen asleep, to check the boy's condition, but stopped dead.
"What's up?," Noya, a painfully early riser, caught it and weaved through the tired bodies on the floor to where the teacher was. Some eyes turned that direction, with a mix of reactions from around the room. There, on the floor in front of the tv, Kitsuna was sprawled out on her back with a futon crumpled up into a pillow under her. Beside her was a mass of blankets, rolled up tight with just a shock of orange poking out one end. The smaller boy was curled into Kitsuna's side, with what was presumably his head on her chest. Noya's laugh was a little too loud, and the girl stirred and groaned with the morning light on her face from the windows.
"Shut up, damn," she tried to roll over, but became suddenly aware of the object pressing down on her. Her eyes shot open, then squinted tight as she processed the faces above her and below her field of vision.
"What's so funny?," she snapped at Noya and Takeda, likely not recognizing one of them in her tired state. She yawned and stretched, about to settle back into a light slumber, when Hinata stirred from under the blankets. The situation she was in finally hit her, and Kitsuna carefully rolled up to a sitting position that let the boy's head fall into her lap. She pulled the blanket back a bit and held the back of her hand to his cheek, then forehead.
"Seems fine now," she shared with the two standing over them and tried to wake up her unexpected cuddle buddy.
"Hey, Shoyo! Wakey wakey, buddy!," Noya shook him roughly, earning a chop to the head from Kitsuna who was rocked by that motion as well. Hinata finally opened his eyes and blinked around. First at Noya, then Takeda, and then finally his eyes landed on Kitsuna's mildly irritated face.
"Ah!," he cried out and tried to jump away, but tripped on the blanket and fell into Noya instead. His face went redder than his hair, and earned some more laughs from around the room. Kitsuna laughed as well, easing the nerves of some more astute inhabitants of the large room who had been on edge since the night before.
