Time had passed, Ghost had helped Naru and Ori in every way that was possible for It, even if half times out of 2 It would do it without considering It's well-being. Luckly, Naru taught It how to do so, also, she also helped It to learn more about writing since Ghost's writing skills were almost non existing.

One of the most curious things was that Ghost was a bit overprotective over them (specially Ori), but Naru assumed that it was something due to where Ghost came from since they really didn't know where It came from.

Eventually the bridge that Ori and Naru were making was completed even faster due to Ghost's help, and they were able to get the oranges from the big tree that Ori wanted to reach, and Ghost was curious about, even though It couldn't eat. So, in every aspect of the word, everything was going perfectly well.

Until that day

It was going as a normal day all things considered, Ori, Ghost and Naru were getting oranges from the big tree that was the reason they made the bridge. Ori and Ghost took as many oranges as they could and were going towards the nest.

Until a really bright blue light shined, and both Ori and Ghost dropped the oranges they carried as they looked towards where the light came from. And it came from a giant tree that was able to bee seen from thousands of miles away.

As they looked at it, they had different reactions, while Ori was somewhat hypnotized by it, Ghost wanted to destroy it for some reason. But eventually, Naru took them both and rushed to the nest as none of them knew what was happening.

While the light shined it seemed that both Ori and Ghost wanted to go towards it, albeit for different reasons, but then the light seemed to stop, and it seemed that both of them had come out of the trance. After a while they had came out of the nest thinking that the worst had already happened, and wanting to continue with their lives.

If only we had known what would have happened

Time passed after that event, and for a while it seemed that that would have been the end of it, but as the days passed, it seemed that the vegetation started to die out. None of them knew why it was happening but they tried to still survive even if the forest was taking a blind eye to them.

But as the days passed, it became more difficult to find food for all of them. The only one that wasn't affected by this, was Ghost since It went several days without food before they have found It.

But It worried about Ori and Naru, since they had been the only ones that showed It any kind of affection. So, It was the one that went the most for food, but Ori always wanted to follow It, since she didn't want It to be lost in the now unforgiving woods.

But the majority of time, Ghost was the one that helped Ori out of difficult situations, since It was more experienced in combat than Ori. But Ori was the main one that went for the remaining oranges in trees since she was able to climb the trees. They helped each other in surviving the forest so they could help Naru that seemed that she was becoming sicker by the day.

A bit more of time passed, and the food became more difficult to find as monsters began to appear, worst of all Naru wasn't even able to move anymore due to the lack of food and the sickness that seemed to get worse by the hour.

Until one fateful day, Ori insisted to go get food while Ghost took care of Naru, but by the time Ori was gone, Naru told Ghost that she was sure her time was out and she wouldn't be able to live much longer, but se asked if It could take care of Ori for her.

At this, Ghost nodded in agreement as It would make sure that Ori would survive. At this Naru smiled, before the hand that was petting It, fell to the ground as she closed her eyes for the last time.

Ori came just in time to witness this, and immediately rushed towards the now dead Naru. Ori was at a loss of words since she never had to deal with the death of a familiar and never wanted to experience it. It was the same way for Ghost, even though It had already witness death, It never had a relationship with the ones It had killed, so this felt way different, and much times worse.

After a long while, Ori and Ghost left the nest since they didn't have anything else that attached them there. Survival became more difficult, because of the dangers that lurked at ever corner, but Ghost was one of the only reasons that they hadn't perished, since It already had experience having to survive on It's own.

Ori however, didn't have the same experience as Ghost, and the hunger she felt was worsen by the minutes. Because of that, her movement became slower and slower, to the point that Ghost had to carry her around. Ori was a bit embarrassed by this, but Ghost didn't mind as he just wanted to make sure Ori was safe.

Some time passed and food became even rarer to find as more creatures became more common. Because of this, Ori was starving to death, and Ghost couldn't do anything about it, but It still tried to find even the scares of food, but to no avail.

And then one day… Ori stopped breathing. Ghost tried everything It knew to try to save her, but it didn't give any results. But when Ghost thought that It also lost her, some white flowers started blooming all around them, releasing a light that went towards Ori as she started levitating, until she absorbed all the light.

Both of them were didn't know what had happened, but as they started to wonder what had just happened, they had heard a voice that seemed to came a bit farther down the path.

Ghost didn't trust one bit the voice, but Ori (that seemed revitalized) wanted to go there, just for the small chance they could find another living being, that weren't the monsters that chased them all over the forest.

After a bit of convincing, Ori finally managed to convince Ghost to go where the voice came from. After a while they finally reached where the voice seemed to come from, but to their surprise the hadn't found anyone, but one blue orb that seemed sentient.

As they approached the orb immediately floated towards Ori, dogging one nail swing from Ghost, but It was calmed by Ori to stop It from attacking the orb. When suddenly, the creatures had appeared out of no-where and attacked the group, as the orb said "It's the decay! Watch out!".

At this, Ghost immediately went to attack them, but to It's surprise, Ori also prepared to attack. Before could push her out of the way, the orb seemed to fire some sort of blue flame that affected the creatures. So, with a bit of help from each other, they were able to finish off the now called "decay creatures".

After the fight, the orb introduced itself as Sein, the light and eyes of the spirit tree, that ended up there after "she" had lessened her grip on it, dropping it there. It told them that they needed to reach the spirit tree of Nibel to help it recover.

Ghost wasn't sure at first, but once again, Ori convinced It to follow Sein to the spirit tree, to maybe be able to recover the life that the forest once had, but was lost. So with a new objective in their mind, they started to go towards there.
