Twenty-four hours later, Oliver and John had looked for Brecken at his mobile home, but he wasn't there. It didn't look like he had been there for a long time, nor had he taken Laurel there. They guessed that since Laurel was safe, it didn't matter where she had been taken. However, that place would be a crime scene and needed to be processed by the proper authorities. If they didn't find it soon - depending on the location - it could be too late. Any evidence that was there could be gone.
On the more positive side, Laurel was doing much better. She'd been able to stay awake for longer periods of time - six hours consecutively - and she was upright, walking around a little bit by the time that Nyssa arrived in Star City. With all the progress that Laurel had made and knowing that Oliver and John would be around to watch over Laurel and Avalon, Sara felt comfortable to leave with Nyssa.
Sara took Nyssa on the waverider for the first time. The raven-haired assassin didn't even question anything about the ship, not did she pay attention to any of its intricacies. Instead, she focused on the mission. That was Nyssa. She was always so goal-oriented.
"So, who are we killing?" Nyssa questioned
"Rowan and Iridessa Toscana." Sara replied, "They're the birth parents of Avi. I'm fighting them for custody and I'm afraid to lose. I can't let them get Avi or her baby."
The raven-haired assassin nodded, "She seems happy. Avi, I mean."
The blonde smiled, "Thank you."
Meanwhile at the Arrow bunker with Oliver, John, Laurel and Avalon. Sara had left Oliver and John with the task of figuring out how Laurel escaped from her captor, but Avalon was talking with Laurel at the moment, trying to get to know her aunt, and the two men decided that their mission could wait for the moment. Avalon and Laurel forming a bond seemed a little more important.
"So…you're a lawyer?" Avalon asked
Laurel nodded, "Yes. I am."
"Do you like it?"
"I like helping people."
Avalon hummed, "Can you help my mom win custody of me against my birth parents?"
"I can certainly try." Laurel replied, "Why?"
"Because I think my mom and Nyssa…" She shook her head, "Never mind."
Avalon went silent for a long while, so Oliver entered the conversation to probe Laurel for information about who took her, where she was held, and how she escaped. Hopefully, she could remember now.
"Do you remember now?" Oliver wondered, "The answers to the question we asked you earlier?"
Laurel gave a slow nod as she felt the back of her head - the place where Oliver had cleaned the dried blood from. The spot still felt a little tender, so she touched it very gently, only with her fingertips.
"Someone hit me from behind." She uttered, "I never saw who it was."
John held up a photo of Brecken Montez, "Do you recognise him?"
"Yeah. He was in the courtroom. He was angry at me and the judge." She informed them, "He struck me as a very hurt young man."
"And how did you escape?"
The brunette lawyer hummed, "It all happened in a flash. I do recall seeing long red hair."
John and Oliver shared a glance.
"Two of Pritchard's daughters have red hair." John uttered
"Oh…yeah. That's right." Laurel recalled, "Sina and Thela both have red hair."
"Which one do you think rescued you?" Oliver questioned, "Or do you even think one of them could have rescued you?"
Laurel shrugged, "I have no idea, but if I had to guess I would say that maybe Sina. She seemed more attached to Brecken then Thela. She would do anything to protect him."
"Including covering up the kidnapping of an ADA?" Oliver wondered
"I believe so, but I can't be one hundred percent certain. Most of it is all still very fuzzy." She replied
Back with Sara and Nyssa, the two women arrived at the front door of the Toscana residence and for a moment Sara hesitated. She wondered if this was the right move. She wanted to be able to keep Avalon safe but was murder really the answer. She wasn't with the League of Assassins anymore. She couldn't just run back to the safety of Nanda Parbat. Sure, she could kill Iridessa and Rowan without anyone ever knowing it was murder, but did she really want to slip back down that slope after climbing out of the abyss.
"Are you sure you want to do this, Sara?" Nyssa asked
The blonde gave a heavy sigh, "No, I don't want to kill anymore, but I don't know if I have another choice."
"There's always an alternative."
"Avi doesn't want to go to the police. I can't, and I won't force her to talk." Sara stated, "But without some kind of leverage against her parents, I have nothing. I could be accused of kidnapping or at the very least custodial interference for keeping Avi from her parents."
"I see." The raven-haired woman replied, "I could do this by myself. You just go back to the waverider and try to think only about your daughter."
Sara shook her head, "I can't let you do that. Avi is my daughter. My responsibility. So together, or not at all."
Without any further thought, Nyssa kicked the front door down, giving a surprise to both Rowan and Iridessa, who sat inside at their dining room table eating lunch.
"Sara!" Iridessa exclaimed, "What are you doing here? Who's this you've brought with you?"
Nyssa pulled an arrow from her quiver and aimed her bow at Rowan. After hearing from Sara what this man had done to the sweet girl she'd met, she wanted to kill him. This man was worse than her own father - Ra's Al-Ghul.
"Sara, tell your friend to lower her weapon." Rowan begged
Iridessa stared at Sara and Nyssa, "Look we can talk about this. You want to adopt Avi. We'll let you. We'll sign away our rights."
The blonde whipped out a special gun from the pocket of her cargo pants, aiming it at Iridessa, holding it at a headshot level.
"No. It's too late." Sara uttered
"We're here to kill you." Nyssa added
Pulling back her arrow, she watched as Rowan squeezed his eyes shut. She fired a warning shot into the wall, just missing the man's head as it had whizzed past the side of him.
"The next one goes into your heart."
"Sign the papers." Sara told the couple, "And if you ever contact my daughter again, my friend and I will be back. And then we really will kill you."
Rowan nodded, frantically, "Yes. Yes, we will. We'll meet with the lawyers tomorrow to turn in the paperwork and so you can set an adoption date."
"Glad you made the right choice." The blonde responded, "Now...was that really so hard?"
