Earlier that day:

Xander and Cordelia materialized next to a dead body.

"Dead body. Like that's anything new." Xander muttered as he crouched down beside it.

"What killed him?" Cordelia asked.

"Not a vampire, no neck trauma." Xander answered. "I'm not seeing anything that says torture either. It looks like he was stabbed in the chest. Vampires and demons don't kill this way. Humans do."

"A human killed another human. There was so little of that kind of crime back in Sunnydale. I guess there are still things that can surprise me." Cordelia said sadly. "This is the first time we've dealt with murder."

"I think he was a sailor, in the Navy. Either that or that's a really good costume." Xander said. "Wonder why he was here. This looks like some kind of factory. And judging by all the dust, an abandoned one. We need to find a phone and call the cops, Cordy. We can't just leave him like this."

"I agree. Poor guy probably has family wondering where he is." Cordelia said. Before Xander could stand up, four people burst into the room. "Hands up!" They were yelling.

"Cordy, Go!" Xander said. She immediately turned and ran, Baby in her arms. Once out of the room, she teleported away, landing outside the factory. She made her way around to the front of the building and saw three cars parked in front of the factory. She watched as the people brought Xander out in cuffs. Eyes narrowed, she wondered if she could teleport herself into the trunk of one of the cars. It would the first time she'd aimed herself toward a particular place. Xander was counting on her, she had to do it. Clutching Baby in her arms, she kept her eyes on the trunk of one of the cars and imagined herself inside it. The next thing she knew, she was curled up in the trunk of a car. A smelly trunk. Hopefully the right one. "Shh, Baby." She murmured. "We're going to find Daddy." The little hyena pup, trusting her, just wiggled a little bit and stayed quiet.

Xander stood up and raised his hands. He was determined to buy time for Cordy to get away. He had a much better chance of escaping from these people with his newly discovered ability to shape shift into other people then she did.

Then one of the people held up a badge. "Special Agent Gibbs, NCIS. Who are you?" Oops, cops. And probably not incompetent or stupid like the ones in Sunnydale.

"Alexander McCleod." He answered.

"You're disturbing a crime scene. You're under arrest."

"We were just going to look for a phone and call the cops."

"What were you doing here?" Gibbs asked, as he handcuffed Xander.

"Just happened by. We didn't mean any harm."

"You just happened to be in the industrial district. In an abandoned factory. With a dead Navel Officer. That's quite a coincidence." Gibbs said.

"They do happen, Agent Gibbs." Xander answered, as Gibbs began to advise him of his rights, while another searched him and found his wallet. The agent then led Xander out to the cars parked out front and put him in the back seat of one. Xander sat there for awhile before Gibbs came back with another agent, a woman, and they drove in silence, to a large building down town. They pulled Xander out of the car and marched him inside and into a room, where one cuff was removed and attached to the table. Then a very chatty woman came in and took scrapings from under his nails and various other things. Then he was left alone for quite awhile. It gave him time to think. He wondered who the woman with the accent was, she was hot. He'd seen her interact with the others. They clearly respected her, but the two younger agents, their respect was tinged with fear. She was clearly a kickass bitch. After awhile he became aware of people in the next room. They were discussing him.

'Nice to know there's no Sunnydale here.' He thought. 'But it's sad that there's no Univille.' Then Gibbs came into the room. Xander grinned over the what did you see question. He hadn't Seen anything with his ability, but he'd seen a few things with his eyes. When Gibbs left after the knock on the window, Xander perked up his ears to hear what the were saying. There was another him here. They couldn't stay long then. Special Forces, qualified for Ranger School! Way to go other him. Then he heard about Tony and Jessica. He couldn't help the anger and pain he felt over the knowledge that, those two just didn't seem to change from one reality to another. And then he felt sad for his counterpart. Couldn't one of his counterparts grow up with a Tony and Jessica that weren't drunks? Then he heard the woman comment on his expressions. Oops again. She was very observant. The sooner he got out of here, the better. Especially given the samples the mega brain had taken. He was not going to be experimented on. Time to figure out a way out of here. He looked at the glass of the window. Using any other ability but the shape shifting one would cause more problems and even that one he couldn't do where anyone could see him. So getting out of this room had to come first. One step at a time. He smiled at the window. "Game on. This is going to be fun." He tossed a challenge out to distract them. Let them think about that for a little bit while he figured out a way out of this room. First problem? The cameras he was sure were trained on him. Police shows always had them. Second problem? The cuffs holding him to the table. Buffy might be strong enough to break them, but even being a little stronger then average while in human form, didn't mean he could.
