'Maybe the cameras and the cuffs have the same solution.' Xander thought. 'Maybe I can use the telekinesis on them. Just because I've always used it on big targets, doesn't mean it can't work on small ones. ' He dropped his hand down below the edge of the table and narrowed his thoughts to just the cuff itself. He thought about it opening up. Slowly it did just that, until he had enough space to slip his hand free. He didn't yet, first he had to deal with the cameras. Could he effect something he couldn't see directly? Wait, maybe he could See them. After all he could See what was hidden and the cameras were hidden. He slowly looked around the room, in police shows they were usually in the upper corners...there, one in the upper left corner. He concentrated on it, imagining crushing the area around the lens until it compressed together. He could See it happening. Then he swept the room until he found another in the upper right hand corner and did the same. Using the reflective surface of the mirrored window, he checked behind him but couldn't See anything. He wasn't sure though, maybe there was nothing to See or maybe he couldn't use a reflection that way. He would have to practice, now that the idea had occured to him. He looked through the mirrored window. Three people currently in the other room. Agent Gibbs, the lady with the accent named Ziva and the other mega brain, the computer one. Gibbs was the coordinator, the overall brain, the strategist. He was dangerous, experienced, not caught out easily. Xander's challenge would have made him suspicious and on his guard, which means he was currently focused on Xander and not on what was behind him.
Ziva, cunning, ruthless, very little would slow her down. Especially once a target was in her sight. Also focused on him.
Computer mega brain. Young, still learning. Confused and off guard. Weak link. Target acquired. Again using telekinesis, Xander focused on Junior Agent McGee. He didn't want to hurt him, just use him as a distraction.
On the other side of the glass, Gibbs narrowed his eyes. "What does he mean, game on? What's he playing at?"
"Maybe it's code for something." Ziva suggested. "Or he's trying to distract us."
"From what?" Gibbs asked. Which is when McGee simply fell over and lay on his back. Both Gibbs and Ziva looked down at him.
"McGee? What happened?" Gibbs asked.
"I don't know. I just felt like something pushed me and I fell over."
Ziva glanced back at the interrogation room. "Gibbs, he's gone!"
Gibbs swung back around and stared into the empty room for a moment, the he and Ziva jumped for the door at the same time. They burst into the interrogation room and Ziva reached the table first.
"Gibbs, the cuffs are undone!"
McGee appeared at the door, having gotten himself up. Gibbs turned to him. "McGee, pull the security tapes. I want him found!"
The moment the mega brain fell over from Xander's 'push', Xander was up and moving. By the time he hit the door, his face no longer looked like Xander McCleod's face. Instead, he looked like the old man he'd seen at the crime scene. He hadn't caught his name. Remembering the path they'd used to bring him here, he back tracked. Every room in this place, except for the bathrooms, probably had a security camera in it. 'Including any janitors closets.' Xander thought. He made it to the end of the hall and turned the corner.
After issuing his order to McGee, Gibbs turned to Ziva. "Search that way, I'll go this way." She nodded and headed down the hall. As she did so, Gibbs picked up a nearby phone line and pressed for the security office. "Lock down the building. Escaped suspect. Teenager, male." The kid couldn't have gotten far. It had only been a couple of minutes at most since McGee had somehow fallen over.
Xander stayed in the hall, not even bothering to enter any of the rooms he passed. He could hear people in some of them. He had to get to the elevator. From there, it was a straight shot to the parking garage downstairs. Then out of the parking garage. He'd just reached the elevator and pressed the button to call it when he heard Ziva call out.
"Ducky! Hold up! We've got an escaped suspect! The elevators are in lockdown!"
'Shit'. Was Xander's thought. 'This just got even more complicated.' He concentrated on the doors, imagining them opening and they did. He looked and saw the elevator car was a couple of floors down. He didn't hesitate. He jumped.
"Ducky! Oh my God!" Ziva raced toward the elevator, afraid Ducky, very definitely an old man, had had a heart attack or something. The doors slammed closed just as she reached them. She grabbed the emergency phone and called the security office. "Emergency! The elevator door malfunctioned during the lockdown. Dr. Mallard fell in, he may have had a heart attack or a stroke. Get a rescue team up here!"
Xander landed on the top of the elevator and remembering Duncan's training, made sure he landed with his knees bent to absorb the shock. Still, the pain in both ankles meant something had probably broken. He ignored it, his quickening would take care of it. It was extremely doubtful there were security cameras in the elevator shaft, so now was the time to teleport out. Teleporting blind was always a concern. Where would he land? But he had to take the chance. He imagined being where Cordelia was and teleported out of the elevator shaft.
