Chapter 9: Yoshi's Island Trouble

Peach had jumped out of a warp-pipe, followed by Daisy, Toad, and Toadette. After leaving the Kongo Isles, they have finally reached the edge of Yoshi's Island. "Okay, now to find Yoshi," Peach said. From the bushes, something was staring at them. "Sounds like a plan, but how do we know when we find him?" Daisy asked. "He'll be green," Toad said. "How many Yoshis are green?" Toadette asked. "Not that many apparently," Toad said.

Suddenly, something pounced directly onto the group. An animal of sorts. It stuck out its long tongue and licked all of them on the face. "Friends! Friends! I love friends!" he yelled. Peach laughed. "Yoshi! It's good to see you too," she said. Yoshi jumped off of them, "Yoshiii!" he yelled cheerfully. Everyone stood up, wiped off the sand off their clothes, and greeted a very excited Yoshi. After Yoshi had calmed down, Peach explained why they came. "Oh no! Yoshi says that sounds very bad," Yoshi said. "Yeah. We could surely use your help to take back the kingdom," Toad said. "Oh. Yoshi will help! Yoshi will help!" Yoshi yelled. "That's great! We could really use an army though," Daisy said. "Yoshi can get other Yoshis to help! Yoshi wants to help friends!" Yoshi exclaimed, "Friends! Follow Yoshi!"

Yoshi led everyone into the center of the island. Through the forest of Yoshi's Island, the team navigated through the forest, Daisy kept hearing some of the vines move. "Did anyone hear that?" Daisy asked. "What is it?" Toad asked. Right as he turned to Daisy, a Piranha Plant came from the forest and was inches away from biting Toad. "AH!" Toad yelled. Many of the plants within the forest were revealed to be Piranha Plants awaiting their prey.

"Run!" Peach ordered. Everyone began running as the Piranha Plants extended their stems after them. As Peach ran she noticed a large boulder on the side of the path. She charged towards the boulder and jumped on it and jumped on the heads of some of the plants. "Yeah girl!" Toadette and Daisy yelled. Yoshi turned his head, stuck out his long frog-like tongue and ate one of the plants. "Ugh! Yoshi doesn't like vegetables," he said. Toad ahead of him saw a power block. He decided to jump on Yoshi and punched the power block and got a power up. "Ah ha! I'm gonna show you what I can do!" Yoshi yelled. He took the power up and… he shrunk down. "Oh what?" he complained in a higher pitched voice.

Toadette grabbed Toad and put him in her pocket. "Nice try Toad-y," she said. "Why did I get this one?" Toad asked. After running through the entire forest, they finally got out of the forest and found themselves near a pond. Peach looked around and found a couple of sticks and a rock. "There!" she said. She grabbed them and set a fire. "Aw. I wish I learned how to do that," Toad said. "Yoshi! Eat," she said. "Yoshi doesn't really like spicy food, but I guess I'll do it," he said. Yoshi ate the stick burned by fire and as the Piranha Plants' heads poked out, Yoshi became a flamethrower and burned the plants to a crisp. Then Yoshi coughed out smoke and drank some water.

"There. That takes care of them," Peach said. "What were Piranha Plants doing in the forest?" Daisy asked. Toadette flicked Toad and took away his powerup. "Beats me. Last I checked, Piranha Plants are usually native to the island," Toad said. "Then they became an invasive species. They're invading," Toadette said. "Is it safe to assume that Bowser also made an alliance with Petey Piranha?" Daisy asked. "Yeah. Looks like they're trying to conquer everything at once," Peach said. "First the Mushroom Kingdom. Then the Kongo Isles. Now Yoshi's Island. Where does it end?" Toadette asked.

From the distance, they heard a familiar roar as something broke through the trees and shook the ground. "Petey. He's here. We're not gonna stand a chance without some powerups, but it looks like there are only mini mushrooms here," Toad said. Yoshi kept drinking water when he found some light beneath the pond. "Friends! Yoshi found something in the water," Yoshi said. "What did you find Yoshi?" Toadette asked. "Yoshi is not sure. Yoshi will check," Yoshi said.

Yoshi jumped into the pond and was sunk by it. "Yoshi!" Peach yelled. "Let's go after him!" Daisy yelled as her and Peach immediately jumped in. "Wait! Princesses!" Toad yelled. "Come on Toad-y!" Toadette yelled as she dragged Toad into the pond. From the trees, the large, plump, and green Petey Piranha appeared and roared. "I found you!" he yelled. He looked around and found nobody. "Where did you go? You can't hide forever!" he yelled as he passed the pond.

Everyone fell through a lake and encountered a large cavern with a large structure in its center. Yoshi kicked his feet quickly to slow down his fall with a flutter jump while Peach and Daisy used their parasols to land safely. Toad fell on his face and Toadette landed on him. "Thanks for breaking my fall Toad-y," Toadette said. "You're welcome," Toad said while he was in pain. "What is this place?" Daisy asked. "Do you know about this Yoshi?" Peach asked. "Yoshi does not know," Yoshi said.

They walked towards the large temple, climbed up the stairs, and encountered another Convergence Crystal. "What's this?" Toadette asked. "I'm not sure, but it feels like something we should've gone on an adventure for," Toad said. Peach was about to grab it, until Yoshi grabbed it with his tongue and ate it. "Wait! No! Yoshi! Spit that out!" Daisy yelled. "But Yoshi thinks it looks so tasty," Yoshi said.

Suddenly a glow was coming from Yoshi's stomach. "Ooh. Yoshi feels tingly," Yoshi said. "What's happening?" Peach asked. The light penetrated the surface and its blinding features made them all disappear.

Above the surface of Yoshi's Island, Kamek encaged all of the Yoshi of the island and transported them towards one of the Airships in the sky. "That should be all of them. Wait a minute. Where's the green one?" Kamek asked. Petey Piranha came through, panting. "I lost the Princesses. They were here with Yoshi, but they somehow got away," Petey Piranha said. "Hm. Leave them," Kamek said. "What?! Leave them. But," Petey said. "It doesn't matter. The next phase of Ganondorf's plan is going in order," Kamek said with some resentment. "Is that resentment I hear Magikoopa?" Petey asked. "No. Pay no attention," Kamek said.

A portal opened through shadows as Petey and Kamek walked through it and it closed behind them.

Yoshi awoke and found himself in an unknown place. Beneath him he saw a light that led a path to somewhere, with seven other lights leading towards the same destination. He then awoke once more and found himself looking towards the stars.
