"Where do babies come from?" Arthur asked as he looked up at Ren. The older boy spit some of his water out and sputtered a bit before coughing and wiping his mouth a few times.

"What uh... what brought this up?" Ren asked.

"Isaac said they come from a brown bag." Arthur said.

"Well..." Ren trailed off as he looked at the counter. He decided to spend some time with his siblings for a while and they were good for the most part, up until Arthur asked this question and the others got curious.

"Maybe Nana came from a different bag. That explains why she's always hungry for food." Calliope said.

"Food?" Nana perked up.

"No, no food." Ren shook his head.

"Why?" She asked.

"Nana, you still have your pudding cup." He pointed and she quickly realized that she did before greedily digging her spoon in it.

Prushka got on the apartment phone and dialed the number to the guild, waiting for her to pick up. Her gentle voice answered and hearing it always made the children's hearts beat joyfully. No matter how many times they heard it, it always made them feel warm and safe on the inside.

"Hello?" Maaya asked.

"Mama." Prushka called out.

"Prushka? What's wrong?" Maaya asked.

"Where do babies come from?" Prushka asked.

Maaya froze and glanced at her assistant before turning away and covering her scroll with her hand. The scooting of a chair made her retreat further into the phone and tried to answer in a hushed tone. However, it didn't seem to work since her assistant was practically hovering over her with a smug grin on her face. In fact, multiple people were looking in her direction and she felt the embarrassment creep up in her system.

"W-Well... a stork brings a family in a bag." She lied. A large part of her felt terrible for lying to her children but she didn't want them to find out how reproduction actually worked. She didn't want them to know until they were older and more mature, understanding how... dirty creating life was.

"I thought babies came from bellies?" Myne asked as she poked Maaya's stomach a few times.

"Where did you hear that?" Maaya tensed up.

"Do you have a baby in there?" Myne asked as she put her ear against Maaya's stomach. The older woman's face practically burned red and she sputtered a few times. There were several chuckles and she could only cover her face in embarrassment.

Out of all the questions, this had to be the one to pop up at a young age. At this point, she didn't even know how to respond anymore and it was a miracle that she didn't pass out from all the attention. Everyone found it adorable at Myne's innocence and a few had to look away, lest they pass out from that childish behavior. Not a single ounce of ill will was in that question, just pure confusion and wonder.

"N-No, Myne. I don't have a baby in there." Maaya gave Myne's head a few pats and raked her fingers through her blue hair.

"Are you going to have a baby in there one day?" Myne asked as she put her cheek against Maaya's leg and looked up at her.

"Well..." Maaya scratched her cheek with a red face. That smug look on her assistant's face never left and if she could, she would bury the other woman six feet deep.

"Mama?" Prushka asked on the phone and Maaya quickly remembered that she was on the other line.

"Yes?" She asked. There was noise in the background and she faintly heard the sound of the door opening and Nora's voice nearby. Shuffling was heard and she heard them ask the same question to Ren and Maaya to Nora.

"Mom told you they come from storks? No, they come from sloths." Nora answered easily and Maaya had to resist the urge to facepalm. Despite the older girl's best efforts, she didn't realize that she made the situation worse in a way.

After she said that, a whole new can of worms opened up. The children began asking questions on whether babies came from a sack like on Merlot's Island, a stork like Maaya had told them, from their mother's stomach like Myne had said, or sloths like Nora had said. At this point, the whole guild had stopped what they were doing to listen to the heartwarming conversation.

Maaya trying to salvage what she could out of the situation was amusing in their opinions. They had no doubt in their minds that Maaya had filled the motherly role quite nicely and a few older members couldn't help but laugh and reminisce about their younger days with their children. Myne was the only one who liked coming out of the apartment, but the other children were slowly making their way out.

They were like little ducklings getting their feet wet but were still too scared to see the outside world for what it is.

"Maaya, the Grimm are taken care of." Six said, causing several chairs to scoot back and nearly everyone to jump back in surprise. Nobody heard or saw him come in and felt their hearts slam in their chests.

"How... how long have you been here?" Maaya asked as she held her chest.

"Two minutes and thirty-seven seconds." He answered calmly.

Before he could say anything, Myne scampered around the counter and trotted up to him, hugging his leg before looking up at him.

"Daddy, where do babies come from?" She asked. The moment that question left her mouth, Maaya felt a sense of dread fill her system and she quickly gave kisses to Prushka on the phone before hanging up.

"From their mother's uterus." He answered.

"What's that?" She asked.

"No! No, absolutely not!" Maaya exclaimed as she quickly stood up and placed her hands on the counter. Her loud voice made a few people jump in surprise and Myne flinched a bit as well.

"It is the place where infants are made." Six answered and ignored Maaya.

"Mommy, do you have a u-" Myne started.

"Myne, I heard that Cinder found a new story for you." Maaya quickly changed the subject.

"I did?" Cinder peeked around the corner. She instantly froze when Maaya closed her eyes and sent her an icy smile. It felt like a tundra washed over her body and nearly everyone felt it wash over them.

"You do?" Myne gasped.

"Y-Yeah..." Cinder shuddered and slowly disappeared around the corner with Myne.

Once they were around the corner, Maaya just turned her false smile to Six. Her eyes were still closed and she clasped her hands together while he just stared at her calmly. He wasn't affected in the slightest by her gaze, but that didn't mean he was unaware of the tension that was rolling off her shoulders.

"Were you going to tell Myne about the process of sexual reproduction?" She asked calmly. To everyone else, her voice was cold. A stark contrast to how she usually was with them.

"Yes." Six answered simply.

"Did you think that was going to be a good idea?" She asked.

"Yes." Six nodded.

"Why?" She tilted her head.

"It is important that they learn where newborns come from at a young age. There is no use in trying to lie to them and break their trust when they are older." He explained. By the time he was Myne's age, he had already had the topic of reproduction explained to him. All it took was one candidate to ask the question and for their instructors to explain the process in explicit detail. A few of them were embarrassed from that, some were mortified by the process, Six himself didn't really care too much. His mind was preoccupied on sharpening the knife he managed to steal from one of his instructors.

"Mmm." She hummed while wiggling her intertwined fingers in a wave-like motion. Maaya rarely got angry, and when she did... it was like someone had opened the icy grips of the artic and unleashed it upon them. Her anger was cold, but could turn hot in an instant and gave everyone whiplash when they were on the receiving end of it.

"..." He just stared at her calmly.

"Six..." She squeezed her hands together tightly. It was clear that she was angry, livid even, but he still wasn't remotely affected.

All he did was stare at her back with the calmness of a tranquil ocean. The cold feeling that was rolling off his shoulders was like the pitch black abyss, tendrils of darkness reaching around the unfortunate victim and dragging them further into the frigid grasps of it. With the combined coldness that they were displaying, everybody nearby went stiff for some reason.

"I will return later. The butcher will be busy with the animals I have hunted." He said and started to walk to the door. His words managed to shake a few of them from their stupor and look towards the window. Their eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets when they saw large animals being transported towards the butcher. Ranging from rams, to elk, and there was even a moose.

"Well, since you almost explained the birds and the bees to Myne, you can't count yourself unlucky that you won't eat get to eat the cake that the children made." Maaya huffed as she straightened a stack of papers.

"I will tell them that you are withholding treats from me." He said as he walked to the door.

"You wouldn't dare." She narrowed her eyes.

"I would." He looked over his shoulder at her. Despite his cold personality, whatever the children made for him, he would either eat or carry it around with him. When it came to talking about the children, Maaya was the one to go to since it was like talking to a brick wall with Six.

Myne skipped around the corner and up to Six, tugging on his cloak and lifting her arms. He scooped her up and sat her down over his shoulders. It was something that he had been doing recently and she seemed to enjoy it, so he decided to keep doing it to keep her happy.

"Bye, mommy." Myne turned and waved.

"Bye, baby." Maaya sighed as she watched her and Six exit the guild.

Once they left, everything went silent and Maaya slumped forward, putting her face in her arms. Sometimes she wished she could hit Six upside his head, but knew that anything even remotely aggressive was usually met with the other person being maimed or killed. Not to mention she had seen him instinctively move out of the way when someone jumped at him to give him a hug.

"So-" Her assistant started.

"I will give you four days worth of paperwork if you say another word." Maaya's muffled response came and an amused laugh came from her assistant.

"Alright momma bear, no need to be so feisty. Just a little joke is all this is." The assistant said.

"He was going to tell my baby about the birds and the bees. Myne, Isaac, Arthur, Prushka, Calliope, Cyrus, and Nana aren't even remotely ready for that talk." Maaya huffed irritably.

The atmosphere of the guild returned to normal and everyone went about their own business shortly after. Bounties were set up, rewards were given in return upon completion, and the documents were written on before being scanned and stored for later.

Despite the encounter today, everything was normal and Maaya looked forward to going home and seeing her kids. This was something she never thought she'd be able to experience in her life, but she was glad that she was given something to cherish.
