Chapter 4
Checking that the hotel room door was deadlocked, Emily pulled her distraught wife into her lap. She brought her arms around her wife's waist, held her tightly to her body, and allowed her to rest her head on her shoulder.
"Talk to me, Jayje; Strauss can't be a bitch about losing your credentials. She has to abide by the rules and regulations of the bureau. Plus, she likes you now if, on the other hand, I would be seriously concerned about being sent to Alaska if it were me whom she loathes." Emily told her wife, trying to cheer her up.
Emily lifted her wife's chin so she would stare into her deep blue eyes. A cheeky grin appeared as she looked deeply into her wife's brown eyes.
"I know she can't do much to me about losing my Credentials, but I worry that she can make it extremely difficult and time-consuming for me to replace them; you know she enjoys making poor Hotch suffer." sighed JJ. "come on, roomy I will treat you to a coffee. You know you want to you cofficionando," smiled Emily
Jumping down from her wife's lap, JJ patted Emily's Left hip over her tattoo, then walked into the bathroom to freshen up before getting her promised coffee.
"Thank you, Emily," JJ shouted through the open door.
With a devious smile plastered on her face, she walked into the bathroom, turned her wife around and kissed her passionately on her lips; just as she felt JJ's tongue trying to gain entrance into her mouth, she pulled away.
"Hurry up, agent Jareau. I'm thirsty," smirked the brunette, giving her wife a final kiss on her lips before walking into the bedroom.
"Crazy fool," laughed JJ as she walked up to her wife and wiped off her lipstick smear

The team spent a frustrating day reviewing the case and completing all the remaining interviews with family members. The only outstanding item was the five partial fingerprints recovered. Unfortunately for the team, producing a workable print from the fragments took time, even using state-of-the-art software.
"We have hit a dead end; nothing new has come to light from our latest interviews. I spoke to the lab's FBI fingerprint expert, who explained that precise results would take time. The computer software takes time to build enough of a print to achieve a minimum of 6 matches, though they prefer a minimum of 8. Unless anyone has any ideas, we must wait for another victim." Hotch explained to the team.
JJ checked to see if the door was closed before she started to talk. "We have profiled our UnSub. It has an excellent working knowledge of human anatomy, possibly a veterinarian, a health care professional proficient with needles and blood collection. Knowledgeable in forensic countermeasures. What if our UnSub is a member of law enforcement?" JJ enquired
The remaining team members took a moment to consider JJ's supposition. Emily found her eye drawn to Detective Chelsea Hodge, sadly sitting at her desk, still trying to come to terms with the murder of her partner.
"Emily?" Rossi asked, trying to get her attention
Her attention was gained; she turned to look at Rossi and smiled at him. "That could explain how the UnSub can maintain an almost pristine crime scene. Knowing all the techniques and procedures utilised would be a great help. I agree with Jayje, as much as I hate the idea of a police officer being the UnSub, especially killing a sister in blue. We need to get Garcia to check all the female officers, including the Police Chief." Announced Emily
"We should get Garcia to search any female officer terminated by the department over the last five years. To have such an intimate knowledge of forensics, it would have to be a seasoned officer, not a trainee or someone that got turned down." Rossi added
Hotch pondered the new information, pulled out his cell phone, and dialled Garcia.
"Bossman, please tell me I can do something to help?" asked a subdued technical analyst
"Garcia, I need you to run the background of all the female officers, including Chief Isobel Hartland. Also, check all female officers who have been sacked or transferred for five to ten years. Thanks, Penelope," he asked her, using her first name.
"I will be back quicker than a vampire bursting into flames when exposed to sunlight." signed off a happier analyst.
While the team waited for Garcia to complete her searches, they rechecked the case files, waiting for something to jump out at them. Emily returned to watching Detective Chelsea Hodge, her heart breaking for the officer trying to imagine how she would manage if Jennifer were suddenly taken from her. Knowing she would never be able to continue without her blonde soul mate. It had been a tough decision to leave the FBI and move to London. Those months away from the blonde beauty had been extremely difficult for Emily; she had buried herself in work and drunk herself to sleep most evenings. Life had been unbearable when she ran away from her feelings; thinking about losing her forever was just... Inconceivable to Emily, it physically made her ill even thinking about it. A cold shiver rumbled down her spine at the thought of losing Jennifer,
"Does anyone want a coffee from across the street?" Reid asked everyone
Everyone replied that they wanted their usual, not needing to check everyone's order; he used his eidetic memory. He just turned and walked out of the room with a smile. He pulled out his cell phone and texted Elena quickly, asking if she was free for coffee.
Rossi and Hotch exchanged a smirk as both men noticed the massive smile on Reid's face as he walked out of the room. Rossi was pleased; Reid rarely managed to keep females' attention due to his considerable eccentricities. His penchant for spewing irrelevant factoids frequently quickly made his female companies lose attraction.

Walking into the coffee shop, Reid instantly noticed the blonde-haired woman seated by the window. A smile appeared as she saw him approaching. Elena stood and kissed Reid lovingly on his lips, "hi, Spencer," she smiled and took his offered hand.
"Flat white?" he checked with her as they approached the barista. She nodded in confirmation. "How long do you have?" she queried.
"Not long, as long as it takes for Abby to make our coffee," he answered.
"We are busy, Spencer; fifteen minutes long enough for you?" Smiled the barista. "Take a seat. I will bring your drinks over to your table when they are ready,"
"Thanks, Abby, that would be wonderful," answered a pleased man.
Feeling a gentle squeeze, Spencer glimpsed the sparkling cobalt blue eyes transfixed on his face; her eyes seemed to sparkle at him. He felt as if he knew this woman already. Something seemed so familiar with her Face. He scrutinised her facial features, comparing her stunning beauty against all the factoids swirling around his skull. Statistics for attraction, hair colour and eye colour started computing in his genius brain. He concluded he felt at ease with Elena, just as with JJ and Emily. The blue-eyed blonde beauty embodied his two good friends, so he felt at ease with her.
"Earth to Spencer," laughed Elena, trying to attract his attention.
Not realising he had zoned out as he was comparing her to Jennifer and Emily, his face turned red in embarrassment. "Sorry, Elena," apologised an embarrassed man.
"It's OK, Spencer; are you still considering your case?" She asked, taking the opportunity to see if he would tell her anything about their investigation as he was a little flustered in her presence this afternoon,
Spencer Reid had a genius IQ of 187, an eidetic memory packed with terabytes of knowledge. However, his basic comprehension of attraction needed to be improved, having never experienced the emotion before. Reid had thought he had feelings for JJ, taking her to a football game years ago; analysing the day afterwards in a very Reid-like manner, he realised he relished her companionship as a friend and confidante, nothing more. When he thought about her, Elena beat his heart faster; he felt comfortable around her. He had always thought about this fascinating woman since their meeting. He felt comfortable in her presence and felt like she understood him. They shared a common interest in everything science fiction.
"We seem to have reached an impasse; our UnSub is very smart and leaves us nothing, making our job almost impossible. If we don't find any more leads, we are probably going to have to return to Quantico," He answered as much as he could
"UnSub? What is that," asked a curious Elena. Reid smiled, pleased she was taking an interest in his profiling. Internally, Elena wondered how much information Spencer would be willing to give her about his case; of course, she knew exactly what she had given them to find. She was confident they wouldn't see anything, but the behavioural analysis unit's reputation was well renowned, especially in her chosen career. Her father had taught her early that she must never assume law enforcement is stupid, treat them as her intellectual equals, and believe they will always find her and plan appropriately. Elena listened intently to Spencer as he clarified what 'UnSub.' meant.
"UnSub is FBI speak for Unknown subject; it's easier to say when you aren't sure or know a person's name. Three known subjects met with two unknown subjects. It's concise for use over the radio or phone when you need to pass the information quickly."Reid explained to her.
His beaming smile made her heart beat faster. She found this federal agent standing before her intriguing, thinking of her first sighting of the handsome young agent gripping his messenger bag like a comfort blanket. Elena decided she would now have to adjust her plans concerning Spencer. Surprisingly, she had become fond of Spencer.
Finishing his coffee, Spencer sighed and reluctantly asked Abby for the team's coffee order. He leaned in and kissed Elena, responding by deepening the kiss. Elena eventually pulled away when she needed to take a breath.
"Will I see you tonight?" she asked as he walked away with his coffee,
Reid turned his head and smiled, nodding. "I will call you later," he told her, then returned to the police station.

Returning with the coffee order, Reid remembered to stop smiling and returned his face to a neutral expression, not wanting Morgan or Prentiss to see, preventing them from giving him grief for being so happy. His two friends loved to take the needle him, taking any opportunity he furnished them with. Grabbing the cardboard tray from him, JJ leaned in and whispered. "I love that shade of lipstick on you, Reid. Might I suggest you covertly wipe the red lipstick off your lips before Emily and Morgan notice because you know precisely what those two infantile kids will put you through? Did you bump into a particular blonde, blue-eyed lady while getting our coffee?". JJ happily whispered to her friend. JJ was happy that Reid seemed to function like a normal human being. He would typically be flustered and start spewing random facts, which always compelled his female companions to run for the hills away from the pretty geek.
The team collated the final statements, checked on the female officers from Garcia, and found nothing to help. Every female officer was removed from the list after checking them out thoroughly. Hotch thought for a moment and scanned the team. He noticed Reid diligently speed-reading the document he was checking with a satisfied smile.
"Folks, we have reached an impasse until our UnSub strikes again. I want to leave Reid and you, Dave, for the weekend just in case something occurs. If needed, we can fly back, and we will catch up on our paperwork; Strauss has been on my ass about our team's paperwork. If nothing happens, you can fly back commercially on Monday, and I will let Chief Hartland know about my decision. JJ, will you arrange the jet and get us a departure time, please." announced Hotch, then walked off to talk to the police chief.
EJ
"Hi Chelsea, got a minute?" Emily asked the sad detective
Nodding her head, she pointed to the chair, " Hi Emily, you're leaving, aren't you? Things have gone cold, and you're needed elsewhere." she announced sadly.
Emily took hold of the upset woman's hand and squeezed it gently in support. "Chelsea, we aren't giving up; we will not stop looking for her killer; you have my word on that. Dr Reid and Agent Rossi are staying here until Monday; please take my card with my cell number. Please don't hesitate to call me if you need anything," smiled Emily, giving her hand a final squeeze.
"Emily, please thank your team for all they have accomplished. I appreciate their help in trying to find Tracey's killer. Thanks for telling me personally that your team is leaving, Emily," Chelsea stood and hugged Emily.
Walking away to find her wife, Emily smiled at the sad detective, hoping the team would discover something to break the case for them. The seasoned profiler knew the case would most likely go cold. This UnSub seemed too intelligent to make enough blunders to aid their capture.

Elena watched the BAU team members leaving the police station, all looking dejected, having to go without catching her; Spencer had arranged to meet for coffee after most of his team flew back to Quantico. Mindlessly swirling her spoon in the foam topping her coffee, she watched the FBI agents say goodbye to Spencer.
"Hi, Spencer, glad you phoned me," Elena greeted him with a kiss. "I got you a coffee and a present,"
He opened the offered parcel and found the first edition of Isaac Asimov's The Foundation trilogy. He held his book with reverence and placed a chaste kiss on her lips as a thank-you for her thoughtful gift. "Thank you, Elena, that was very thoughtful. Where did you find such a pristine first edition?" He asked as he went over the first page, enjoying the feel of the paper under the pad of his finger as he tracked the text.
Elena kissed him to gain his attention after zoning out while reading. His cheek started to colour slightly when he realised he had ignored her, lost in his book. "Sorry," replied a bashful Spencer Reid
"When do you fly back, Spencer? How long do we have together?" she asked curiously, wondering how much he would let slip.
"If nothing happens Monday. We have reached a point where we must wait for our UnSub to strike again. Would you like to have dinner with me? Anywhere you like
You choose," Reid asked, surprisingly confident; he felt comfortable around this blonde-haired beauty.
Elena kissed his cheek before she whispered in his ear, "How about room service? Now you are not sharing your hotel room," She whispered into his ear, smirking as Spencer shuddered, his cheeks red.
Still smirking, Elena felt sorry for the flustered man. "Spencer, show me some of your physics magic before you self-combust. I have things I want to do for you tonight," she smiled provocatively. Pleased, she watched him gulp at her teasing. "Spencer! Physics magic, please," Demanded the smiling blonde woman.
His ruminating abruptly stopped as he reached into his messenger bag to get his magic supplies out. His heart was beating rapidly, his palms were sweaty, and his stomach was full of butterflies. The genius realised he had feelings for this blonde woman, with whom he felt so at ease like no other before, apart from Emily and Jennifer, his dear friends. With a grin, he started his physics magic.
"I've got to go and meet a dealer about buying his book collection. I will call you later," Elena kissed Spencer as she walked out.

Hotch sat beside JJ on the jet after finishing speaking to Erin Strauss on his cell phone.
"JJ, Strauss wants my report about your lost credentials when we return to Quantico. She will speak to you next week once she has looked into the circumstances behind their loss. No need to worry, Jayje; there is not much she can do apart from making you sweat and thinking the worst. I won't get you agitated, and enjoy your weekend," Hotch smiled supportively as he returned to his seat on the jet.
"Have you got any plans for the weekend, Emily?" asked JJ
"Any hot dates, Partner? Are you going to get all hot and sweaty with some man toy you bring back home," laughed Derek
She shook her head, "laundry, housework and reading a few books while soaking in my bath with a glass or two of good wine. There will be sweating from physical exertion, and I will be fully clothed before your man mind goes to your dirty place, Derek. Now shoo you naughty man, or I will tell Garcia you're having unpure thoughts about other women," smiled Emily, pushing her partner away from her
"You need to live a little princess; all work and soft play are so boring, you know I am right. What about you, Jayje?" he asked the blonde liaison.
Pondering her reply briefly, " I have a date with my couch and a tub of Ben and Jerry; I don't plan on moving much during the weekend." JJ smiled as she looked at Morgans's look of shock on his face.
Shaking his head, he returned to his seat, muttering what an exciting weekend his two female friends had in store.

Spencer lay on his bed cuddled with Elena, running his fingers over her taught stomach; they had spent the evening enjoying each other. Kissing the top of her head, Reid was comfortable with this blonde woman in his arms; she got him. Elena was brilliant and attractive and liked his geekiness and weird little quirks.
"Will I ever see you again, Elena?" he asked quietly, waiting to be disappointed by her answer.
"Would you like to see me again, Spencer?" asked the woman snuggled in his arms.
"Yes, I like you, Elena. Your special, you always make me feel exceptional, never make me feel awkward, and you make me feel strange things I have never felt before," answered the shy genius
Lifting her head so she could look into his eyes, Elena repositioned herself. Her blue eyes locked with Reid's apprehensive eyes that pleaded with her. "I have feelings for you, too, Spencer. I don't just jump into bed with anyone. Dr Spencer Reid is unique; I would like to see you again and see if this can go somewhere. I will travel to Washington for a specialist books fair in a few weeks. We could meet up, and you could show me around, and you can read to me naked again." smirked the blonde.
Rolling over on top of Spencer, straddling his lap, she bucked her hips a few times to wake his little man up. The smirking blonde slid off and walked toward the bathroom. Turning to face the genius, she allowed him to gaze at her naked body. "Like what you see, Spencer?" Elena teased provocatively with her hands on her hips. "Care to join me and scrub my back? Spencer," Asked the naked woman.
The usually shy and reserved Profiler slipped out of bed and walked to the bathroom door, accepting Elena's outstretched hand.
"You look magnificent, Spencer," smirked Elena as she kissed him, her eyes checking out the naked profiler.
EJ
Rossi smiled as he watched his smiling colleague walk into the police station Saturday morning. He was pleased to see Reid more relaxed than he had ever seen the young genius. His blonde girl seemed to be making him happy.
"Hotch called me. He wants us to fly back late Sunday afternoon to be in the office for Monday morning. Unless our UnSub strikes again, we are wheels up at 14:00 tomorrow. Spend the day with your girl, Reid. I will call you if anything happens." Rossi told the younger man with a knowing smile on his face.
Spencer surprised the senior agent when he didn't argue and just accepted his offer. "Thanks, Dave; see you tomorrow," Reid replied
Rossi watched his young friend and smiled as he noticed the confidence in his retreating coworker.
