Turktralia: Postpone
Sadiq smiled as he closed the oven door. Jett should be arriving any time now, and they would enjoy a nice, Turkish lunch. He had been waiting for a long time to introduce the Australian to his country's cuisine, and he certainly took advantage of the opportunity.
He had prepared several types of meze, and had also made some baklava. The lokum he bought from a store, though, as he hadn't quite mastered that yet. He had just placed the lahmacun in the oven, and he was about to start with the dolma.
His phone rang, and he smiled when he saw that Jett's name pop up on screen. He quickly answered.
"Hey, are you on your way?" Sadiq asked.
"…No," Jett said. "I'm sorry."
Sadiq paused. He had been working all morning.
"Why not?" he asked.
"Well, you see, I went out with a bunch of mates last night to try out a new place," Jett said. "And I've got food poisoning. I've been in the bathroom for almost the entire morning. I called the others, and they've got the same problem. I'm sorry. I've really been looking forward to this."
"Food poisoning?" Sadiq asked. The irony wasn't lost on him. "What kind of place was it?"
"Seafood."
Sadiq sighed.
"I guess it can't be helped," he said. "We can try this again next week. In the meantime… Do you want me to bring some food that you might be able to stomach?"
Jett groaned.
"To be honest, I'm not in the mood for any food," he said. "But… If it's going to work, then I'd appreciate it. Thanks."
They ended the call, and Sadiq sighed. He might as well wait for the lahmacun to finish. In the meantime, he could perhaps prepare a light soup for Jett. He should also probably go to a pharmacy to get some medicine for Jett.
He wished Jett would be a bit more careful, but his sense of adventure was one of the things that Sadiq admired the most of the Australian. And besides, it was just some food that he ended up making an abundance of that wouldn't be properly enjoyed. Jett had it far harder than Sadiq at the moment.
I was feeling nauseous when I thought of this. Not food poisoning, thankfully, but migraines again, because the weather is either hot or stormy, both of which trigger migraines.
I decided to have one of the members of the Gourmet Food Club cooking, only for it to essentially go to waste. And I had to look up Turkish cuisine. I also had Jett get food poisoning through seafood because that was my mom's first experience with sushi and how my dad found out he's allergic to shellfish. And I don't like seafood.
And for those wondering, I'm still working on Mystery of the Vargas Manor, but I haven't gotten around to it much in the last few weeks. My physical and mental health were not the best.
