Chapter 3
"Kuu-Rai-Sen!" she heard a male voice yell as a bolt of lightning hit each of the boys, knocking them to the ground. Lettuce closed her eyes and kept her eyes closed as she heard them fighting whoever saved her. She could hear punches, and bones being broken.
Lettuce felt someone pick her up. She opened her eyes to see Pai carrying her bridal style. He was running as he held her through the alley.
"Pai-san?" she asked. "Did you save me?"
"Affirmative." he said running to her house. Pai could feel that stabbing pain again. He wasn't fully healed from their previous battle, and now he used up his remaining energy.
Pai was carrying her with his own two hands, his hands felt comforting to her. She could feel how toned his arms were.
Pai placed her on the step of her door. "Miss Midorikawa, are you injured anywhere? What happened?" Pai asked as he bent down to examine the marks they left on her wrist and legs.
Lettuce looked up at Pai; tears began to fall off her cheeks. "Pai-san, you saved me!" she said grabbing him into a tight hug.
Pai's ears perked up as his face grew hot, and the pain grew more intense. Pai grabbed her by her shoulders and pushed her away.
"She still has not spoken about what happened." Pai thought. "Please answer my question, are you injured?"
"No. I'm fine." she said in-between sniffles.
"Very well." he said standing up slowly.
"Pai-san are you okay?" she asked staring at him. "You're bleeding." she said looking at the small amount of blood coming from the corner of his mouth, and the cuts on his arms.
Pai placed his hand up by his mouth and wiped it, seeing that she was correct, a small trickle of blood was coming from his mouth. "It is nothing." he said. "What happened back there?"
"They…I think they were going to rape me." she said crossing her arms and placing her hands on the sides of her arms to console herself.
"I shall go back and finish them off." Pai stated. He turned around to walk away when he felt Lettuce's hands grab onto the back of his shirt.
"Please Pai-san, don't kill them!" she said looking at him with tears streaming down her face.
"Humans are vial creatures and they must be destroyed." he said turning to see her with tears still flowing from her eyes.
"Please, don't leave Pai-san!" Lettuce said grasping onto his shirt, hands shaking.
Pai turned back around and stood there eyeing her. "Why does she not want me to leave? Why would she care if killed them after they almost violated her?" he thought.
"You're injured. Please let me repay you for saving me." Lettuce said. "Can you fly or teleport to my room? It's the one with the balcony." she said pointing up towards the room that had a small balcony.
Pai sighed. "Unfortunately I cannot do that."
"Oh, okay." Lettuce said quietly. Lettuce's mind raced for a moment, trying to figure out how to get Pai inside without letting her parents or brother find out about Pai. Lettuce quietly opened her front door and snuck Pai into her room. Pai sat there on her computer chair as she went to gather supplies.
She came back into the room with a medical kit. "Gomen-nasai in advance." she said as she placed a cotton ball with rubbing alcohol on the cuts on his arms. Pai winced at the stinging pain. "Gomen-nasai!" she said removing the cotton ball.
"It is alright." he said monotonously.
Lettuce cleaned up his wounds and bandaged up his arms. She took off his forearm bands and did the same for them. "I'm sorry to cause all this trouble Pai-san."
Pai just nodded. She finished wrapping up his right hand which had a gash in it. She picked up his arm bands. "I'll sew these up for you." she said looking at them, slits all over them. Pai sat there in silence as he watched her sew them.
"That is not necessary for you to do." Pai stated with his arms crossed.
"I don't mind. It's the least I could do." she said sitting on her queen sized bed. She began smiling as she finally fixed them. "Here you go." she said sliding them back on his arms gently, being careful to not hit his wounds. "All fixed."
"Thank you." Pai said. Pai quickly whipped his head to the side and placed his hand over the side of his eye.
"Is something the matter?" Lettuce asked.
"Your dress…it needs to be sewn as well." Pai said blushing slightly.
Lettuce looked down and saw that her dress had slid down a bit, revealing her pale green bra. Lettuce covered herself up with her arms. "Gomen-nasai! I'll be back in a moment." she said running out of the room to get changed, face red with embarrassment.
Pai let out a deep breath when she left. He had never seen a girl in her brazier. He had to admit that he did find it pleasant. Pai stood up and observed her room. He walked over to her desk and saw some tests she had taken. He skimmed through the pages of tests. "Her tests scores are quite remarkable."
Pai placed them back down in the order that she had them. Lettuce came back in the room wearing pajama pants and a tank top that matched. Pai looked at her as she sat on the bed.
"May I ask you something?" Lettuce asked looking down at her hands and up for a moment. Pai nodded. "Why did you save me?" she asked. "They could have killed me, so why did you save me?" she stared at him with wide, questioning eyes.
Pai looked at the wall, avoiding eye contact with her. "I am not quite sure. My logical side said that I should just let them hurt you or perhaps kill you. But I could not allow them to do that." Pai said. "I want to be the one to destroy the humans."
"I see." she said looking back down. She was somewhat saddened to hear his response but knew she shouldn't have expected any other answer than the one he gave. "How did you know where I live?" she asked looking up again.
"I have done surveillance on all the Mew Mews." Pai stated.
"Oh." she said quietly. They were both silent for a moment. "I was nervous my family would see you. They still don't know that I'm a Mew Mew. Is there a reason you couldn't teleport to my room?"
Pai sighed. "I used up the rest of strength on those boys." Pai stated. Lettuce looked at him blinking, not sure what he meant. "Since our last battle, when I attacked you all, I had used up most of my powers. I have been trying to recuperate the last few days, which is why I have not been in battle the last few days." Pai explained.
There was a long silence between the two of them. "Is Kukki your older sister?" Lettuce asked.
"Hai." he said coldly. "She askes too many questions." Pai thought to himself.
They were both silent for a minute. "Well thank you again for your hospitality but I must be going." Pai said walking to the balcony door.
"But Pai-san, you aren't able to teleport." Lettuce said softly.
Pai stopped in his tracks. He realized she was right. In his condition there was no possible way to teleport back to his ship or fly anywhere.
"Pai-san…you can't sleep outside. It's too dangerous." Lettuce said.
"Then what do you suppose that I do?" Pai asked glancing at her with cold eyes. Lettuce sat in silence for a moment. "That is what I thought." Pai said turning his attention to the balcony windows again. "You would be wise to think before you speak."
"Why don't you stay here for the night?" Lettuce asked.
Pai's eyes widened and his cheeks grew slightly pink. She asked him to spend the night, with her. "Did she ask me to spend the night? To stay in the same room for a night with the enemy…" the thought sickened him, and made him nervous. He thought for a moment how this could be a trap.
"Pardon?" he asked turning his attention back to her.
"Stay the night Pai-san. It's too cold to sleep outside." Lettuce said. "You still aren't fully healed." she said, trying to convince him to stay.
The truth was she didn't want to spend the night alone with what just happened. She still was fearful of the boys that attacked her. Irrational thoughts that they would find her and attack her again ran though her head.
"I…I…" Pai stuttered. Lettuce looked at him with a slight smile, and yet a look of sadness that was begging was written on her face as well. "Very well." He said calmly trying to pretend that he was relaxed, but his knees shook slightly.
Lettuce got up and placed a pillow on the other side of her bed. "You can sleep on this side." she said.
Pai began to sweat slightly. He now confirmed it for sure, he was uneasy around girls. Pai sat on the edge of the bed as Lettuce lay down on the other side.
Lettuce noticed Pai's ears twitched slightly as his arms shook slightly. "Pai-san, is something wrong?"
Pai gulped. "No…everything is fine."
"Are you sure?" Lettuce asked sitting up. "You're shaking, and sweating."
"Oh…it is just from me using my powers up." he said calmly. He couldn't let her know that he was nervous about sleeping next to her. He never slept next to a girl before, except for his mother or sister when he was a child.
Pai lay down on the bed next to her, staying as close to the edge of the bed as he could. "So Pai-san, what were you doing on the side of the dirt road?" she asked turning to look at him.
Pai exhaled slowly. "I just was recuperating somewhere away from my siblings." he explained staring at the ceiling. "Kukki has been getting on my nerves lately, as have Kisshu and Taruto. Between Kisshu never shutting up about Mew Ichigo, Taruto complaining about not having any candy, and Kukki taking acesss to my laboratory, I had to have a moment of tranquility to myself."
"I see." Lettuce said giving a slight sympathetic smile. Pai glanced over at her in his peripheral vision. "Goodnight Pai-san." she said turning onto her back again.
After a few minutes Lettuce had fallen asleep while Pai turned to his side and watched her sleep. He thought about moments ago this situation began.
Flashback
Pai had just teleported away after Lettuce said she she would be fine by herself, however Pai had teleported to the roof adjacent from Lettuce's house. He sat there waiting to see if indeed she had made it home safely. A few minuets passed as he waited for her arrival. His ear twitched as he heard her voice scream no. He could hear her scream for somebody to help her.
He teleported to her location, seeing that three boys had cornered her. Pai quickly jumped in and started to fight the boys."
End Flashback
As he thought about how he ended up in this situation he felt his eyes grow heavy and began to drift off to sleep.
The next morning: Lettuce's room
Lettuce woke up next to Pai, who was curled up, arms wrapped around his pillow. Lettuce smiled at how peaceful he looked sleeping.
She quickly grabbed some clothes and went to the bathroom to change. She got on her school uniform and headed off to school quickly.
Cyniclon ship
"Kisshu, Taruto, have either of you two seen Pai?" Kukki said walking into Kisshu's room where her brothers were.
"He's not in his lab?" Taruto asked looking up from a comic book he acquired on Earth.
"I already checked. He is nowhere to be found." Kukki said. "He didn't say he was going to Earth did he?"
"No." Kisshu said looking up now.
"Well…whatever. He'll be back eventually." Kukki said walking off. Kisshu and Taruto looked at each other.
"Where could he have gone? I'm starting to get worried about him." Kukki thought as she checked in each room again.
Café Mew Mew
Ichigo and the others just finished cleaning up the café after school. "Lettuce would you like to hang out at the mall since were done here?" Ichigo asked streatching her arms in the air.
"Um…" Lettuce said thinking for a moment. She would love to hang out with her friends, but she had to head home to check on Pai. "I have a few things to take care of at home, so I can't go today." she said bowing.
"Okay. We'll see you tomorrow." Ichigo said.
"Hai." Lettuce nodded and waved goodbye as she ran home.
"You think Lettuce seemed different today?" Mint asked.
"Different? What do you mean?" Ichigo asked.
"Well she seemed to be in high spirits today. She was humming and seemed like she had something on her mind." Mint stated as she recalled how cheerful Lettuce was today.
"Maybe she got a good grade on her test, na no do." Pudding said.
Lettuce's house
Lettuce quickly ran home to make sure Pai was alright. All throughout the day she was thinking about how Pai saved her last night. She thought about how cute he looked as he slept, and she couldn't wait to see it again. Not because she had romantic feelings towards him, but because of how unlike it was to see Pai look so peaceful and not stotic.
She ran off to her room where she saw Pai still sleeping, now sprawled out on the bed with one arm hanging off it. She walked over and brushed a strand of hair off his face. Lettuce smiled and set her bag down on her desk. "I should just let him sleep." she thought as she started on her homework.
Several minutes later Pai began to wake up. Pai sat up slowly on the bed, still feeling weak. He saw Lettuce struggling on her homework. "Miss Midorikawa?"
Lettuce turned around to see him, still looking half-asleep, hair a disheveled mess. "Ah…Pai-san, you're awake." she said smiling.
"Is something the matter? You seem to be in distress." he said rubbing his eyes.
"Oh…uh…no." she said looking down.
Pai stood up and walked over to her desk. "Would you like some assistance with your homework?"
"Uh…no…I'll be able to complete my homework." she said. She didn't want to bother him; he was still injured, and seemed tired.
Pai leaned over her shoulder as she turned back her attention to her school work. "May I give you some advice on how to solve this equation?" Pai asked pointing at the question she was struggling with. Lettuce smiled and nodded. "This equation requires you to use this formula." he said writing down an equation on a separate piece of paper.
Lettuce used the equation and completed the question. "Thank you Pai-san." she said. Pai nodded. He stood by Lettuce as she finished up her homework. "Thank you for helping me with my homework."
"It was no aggravation." he said sitting back down on the bed.
"Pai-san would you like to get a shower?" Lettuce asked. "My family is out right now."
"That sounds agreeable." Pai nodded.
Lettuce showed Pai to the bathroom and handed him some towels. "I'll be in the kitchen making you some food. You must be hungry." she said hurrying downstairs to get some food for Pai.
Five minutes later
Pai stood in the shower with his hand placed against the wall. He stared at his wounds. They were healing, but not as quickly as he had hoped. His heart started pounded as he began to relive yesterday. From her placing his head on her lap, to him attacking the humans that attacked her.
He clenched his chest. "What is this feeling?" he asked himself. It felt like a squeezing sensation. He thought about how caring she was to him, her enemy. "Why am I thinking so highly of this human? She is the enemy. I must not be swayed by these feeling of gratitude towards this human."
He stepped out of the shower and got dressed, allowing his wounds to get some air. He headed downstairs to see Lettuce cooking something, which smelled wonderful.
He watched her from around the corner in her cute polka-dotted apron, hair back into a ponytail, still in her school uniform. She began plating some of the food. "Ah, Pai-san, dinner is ready." she said placing the plates down at the table.
Pai sat down and looked at the food. She had made a plate of rice and curry stew with a side of sautéed vegetables. The food was aesthetically pleasing and the smell was divine.
"I hope you like it." she said as she sat down. "This is only my third time cooking this."
Pai took a bite of the curry stew and rice. The flavor was impeccable. "It is…" Pai said pausing "delicious."
"You really like it?" she asked. Pai nodded as he took many more bites. "I'm glad you like it. The last few times I made this it didn't turn out so well."
Pai swallowed the food in his mouth. "Well it appears that you have perfected this dish."
"Th…thank you Pai-san." she said blushing. Lettuce stood up and went into the other room for a minute. She had to catch her breath. "Pai-san said he liked my food. I hope I can make this for Ryou-san and he'll like it too." she thought to herself happily.
She came back into the room with a medical kit. Lettuce knelt down on the ground in front of Pai and touched his forearm.
"I'm going to check your wounds." she said as she took off his armbands. "They are looking better." she said.
"Hai. As a Cyniclon our bodies have evolved to regenerate our wounds faster than a human's body would." Pai said. "Except when it comes to us using our powers up." he thought.
"Well I'm glad that they are getting better. How do you feel?" she asked.
"I am feeling better." Pai said. "Thank you for your hospitality."
"You're welcome Pai-san." she said smiling. "It is my fault that you are in this situation. Gomen-nasai."
Pai stayed silent. He thought about how it was her fault that he had gotten into this particular predicament. However, it was his choice to save her. It was his choice to use up his strength in battle. It was his choice to use the rest of his strength up. And yet he still felt that it was her fault that he did these things.
He stayed quiet as she finished wrapping up his hand, which still had a large cut on it. "You shouldn't apologize so much. It makes you sound weak." Pai stated crossing his arms.
Lettuce looked up with big eyes. "What do you mean?"
"It makes you sound as if you are the cause of all unfortunate situations." Pai said.
"Ah…gomen…" Lettuce said stopping herself when Pai raised an eyebrow at her. "I understand."
Pai nodded in agreement that she had stopped herself from apologizing. "You can head upstairs. My parents and brother will be home shortly." she said. Pai nodded and headed to her room while she headed to the shower.
Pai stared at all the books she had on her bookshelf. "Quite the collection." he said skimming the titles.
After twenty minutes Lettuce walked into the room and closed her door and locked it. She was drying her hair in a towel from her shower. "My family just got home." she said quietly. "I told them I was heading to bed early so we just need to be quiet."
"That shall not be a problem." Pai stated. He enjoyed silence. He did his best thinking when it was quiet.
Pai watched as Lettuce ran her fingers through her long hair and began to braid it. Pai and Lettuce sat down on the bed and Pai's heart started to race again.
"Um…Pai-san…can I ask you something?"
"What is it?" Pai asked.
"Well it's about this war. Perhaps there is a way to help both our people."
"Very unlilkly." Pai stated coldly.
"But not impossible." Lettuce began. "Why must we fight over Earth. There is the possiblility that your people can live here."
"Human history is shrouded with war and filled with conflicts already. From quarrels between neighbors to wars between countries. They grab humanity's attention and grow larger under its scrutiny." Pai stated. "Your species is already overpopuplated on a planet that is taken for granted."
"But…are we unable to stop this war." Lettuce began. "Should we really be fighting for two species that came from the same planet?"
"Let me make this clear to you…" Pai said crossing his arms "our species may have come from this planet but we are nothing like you humans. Humanity takes this planet and continues to pollute it along with the over slaughtering of its animals. My people have had to deal with many hardships since we left this planet, and even in those hardships we have found ways to work together and evolve from the primitive form that you humans continue to live."
Lettuce looked down as her hair hung slightly in her face. "You know a famous poet once pondered about war and asked "Are we unable to stop them until we see the blood run red like a burning flame" Lettuce began.
"Or the sinking sun?" Pai said finishing off her sentence.
"You know of that poem?" Lettuce asked looking up.
"I have dabbled in reading some of your phylosiphers poetry." Pai said turning his head to look away. "Perhaps we should rest now."
"H…Hai." Lettuce said laying down on the one side of the bed.
Ichigo's house
Ichigo finished putting her hair up in a ponytail before bed. "Ichigo. Alien alert! Alien alert!" Masha chirped out.
"What?!" Ichigo yelled. "Where is it Masha?!" she yelled standing up with her pendent in hand, ready for a fight.
"Inohara Park!" he chirped flying around in circles.
Ichigo opened her balcony door and slid down the tree near her room. She ran down the street and hid in an alleyway.
"Mew Mew Ichigo-" she yelled "METAMORPHO-SIS!"
Lettuce's house
Pai and Lettuce heard a beeping coming from Lettuce's pendent. Lettuce sat up and grabbed her pendent. "Lettuce, the Cyniclons are attacking Inohara Park! We need you right away!" said Ryou through the pendent.
Lettuce looked at Pai, who had a raised eyebrow. "I'm on my way!" she said getting up. She opened up her balcony door and transformed into her Mew Mew form. She quickly hurried up to Inohara Park followed by Pai further behind her.
Inohara Park
"Ichigo what's going on?" Lettuce asked as she ran up to the other Mew Mews.
"The Cyniclon's created a poisonous moth!" Ichigo said pointing up at the sky, where a gigantic purple moth hovered above.
Lettuce looked up to see Kukki, Kisshu, and Taruto floating next to the moth chimera animal. "In a matter of minutes this chimera animal will poison your precious air!" Taruto said smugly placing his hands on his hips. "There is nothing you can do!"
"We'll show you!" Ichigo said. "Ribbon…Strawberry Check!" she yelled sending a blast of light at the moth. The moth let out a loud scream and flew over the sakura tree.
It sent out a large cloud of poisonous dust onto the tree, causing it to make the trees blossoms fall off. Ichigo looked at the tree, the same tree where Aoyama-kun and her almost kissed.
Ichigo's eyes widened with tears in her eyes. "How…how could you?!" she yelled. She planned on telling him that she loved him there.
"Oh that's just a fraction of what it could do." Kisshu laughed. "Get ready for more Koneko-chan!"
The moth flew above them and sprinkled them with its dust. Lettuce and the others began to cough. It became hard for them to breath.
Pai watched the battle from behind a tree far away. Kisshu floated down by Ichigo on the ground. "Can't breathe can you Koneko-chan?" Kisshu asked in a mocking manner. "I'll help you catch your breath." he said leaning in ready to kiss her.
Ichigo pushed him away. "No!" she yelled coughing shortly after.
"Kisshu normally I'd say stop trying to kiss the enemy" Kukki said "but since they'll all be dead soon, I'll allow it." she said laughing.
Kisshu placed his fingers on Ichigo's chin, tilting her head up not noticing that Pai walked over to where he was. "Kisshu, stop this despicable display." Pai said grabbing Kisshu by the shirt collar and pulling him up.
"Pai…?" Kisshu exclaimed turning around. "Where have you been?"
"Never mind where I have been." Pai stated pulling Kisshu away from the Mew Mews.
"Pai we were worried about you!" Taruto said floating down to his brother.
The Mew Mews stood up as the air around them began to clear up. "Ribbon…Zakuro Pure!" Zakuro yelled as she hit the moth with her whip.
"Ribbon…Mint Echo!" Mint yelled as she shot her arrow at the moth the same time as Zakuro used her whip.
The moth got hit on one of its wings and fell to the ground. It struggled to get back onto its legs. Ichigo and the others all yelled out their attacks at the same time hitting the chimera animal in the spot where its Cyniclon mark was. It shattered into a bunch of pieces as Masha floated up to it to eat the Para Para. "Retrieving! Retrieving!" Masha chirped.
"I'm surprised that you girls were able to combine your attacks like that." Kukki said. "But don't worry little girls, we'll defeat you soon."
Kukki turned her attention to Pai, who was walking to the sakura tree, inspecting the damage the chimera animal had created. He had to admit that it was a quite brilliant plan. Poisoning the air would surly lead to the destructions of the humans.
She teleported next to Pai. "Where were you?" she asked raising an eyebrow.
"It is not important." Pai stated still inspecting the tree and soil. Pai stood up and saw that Kukki was leaning in, inspecting him. "What are you doing?" he asked leaning away from her.
"You have a green hair on your shirt." Kukki said pulling off a long green hair. Pai's eyes widened, as did Lettuce's. "Funny. It looks like that green Mew's hair." Kukki said raising an eyebrow and looking towards Lettuce.
"Ooooh! ~" Kisshu exclaimed with a wide grin on his face.
"I…" Pai stated.
"Don't tell me"… Kukki said with a grin on her face "you lost your virginity to the green Mew."
Ichigo and the others looked back and forth from Pai and Lettuce, both of them blushing. Pai's ears perked up. "NO! It's not like that!" Pai yelled. "Besides my procreation life is none of your business." he said quieter crossing his arms.
"Then…why do you have a hair of hers on you?" Kisshu asked.
Pai looked down at his hand that was bandaged. "I was injured and she assisted me with my wounds." Pai stated.
Kukki grabbed Pai by the arm and teleported away to the ship, followed by Kisshu and Taruto.
Ichigo and the other Mew Mews looked at Lettuce who was blushing. "Did you help him, na no do?" Pudding asked.
"Um…well…I…" Lettuce said mumbling.
Ichigo, Mint, and Pudding crowed around Lettuce and began questioning her all at once. Zakuro walked over and placed her hand on Lettuce's shoulder. "Everyone stop, one at a time." Zakuro said looking at the others. "Lettuce, what happened?"
"Well…Pai got injured saving me." Lettuce said as a slight smile came over her face.
"He saved you?" Zakuro asked.
Lettuce nodded. "See, I was walking home and saw someone lying on the ground, and I thought that they were hurt so I went to check on them, and then I noticed that it was Pai. He walked me home since it was getting dark out, but before we got to my house I told him he could go. Well…I started getting followed by three guys and got cornered in an ally." Lettuce explained quickly.
"Take a deep breath." Zakuro said noticing Lettuce was getting out of breath from talking so fast.
Lettuce let out a sigh of relief. "Well…Pai…he saved me from those guys, but he got injured. So I cleaned up his wounds and had him stay at my house because he used up the rest of his power he said."
"Are you okay?" Mint asked. "Did those guys hurt you?"
"No…Pai saved me before they could do anything." Lettuce said with a slight smile on her face.
"Wait… did you said he stayed your house, na no do?" Pudding asked.
Cyniclon dimension
Kukki assisted Pai teleport to their dimension, Kisshu and Taruto arriving shortly after them. "What happened to you?" Kukki asked as she began to undo his bandages to inspect his wounds.
Pai tried to pull his hand away, but his sister wouldn't let go. "Let me see!" she said firmly. She saw that he still had a slight cut on his hand. "What happened to you?"
"I was injured in an altercation with three humans." he said blankly. "It is not a major concern."
"How long have you had this wound?" she asked.
"It's been about a day." Pai said.
"It's not looking too good for it having been about a day." Kukki stated.
"It will be fine." Pai said taking his hand back.
"Well how did you get hurt?" Taruto asked. "And why did the green Mew Mew help you?"
"I told you I was in an altercation with some humans. Mew Lettuce saw that I was injured and tended to my wounds." Pai stated looking back at his hand with a slight smile on his face.
"Why didn't you teleport back to the ship?" Kisshu asked.
"I…" Pai said getting quieter "used up the rest of my energy to teleport away."
"You…used up the rest of your powers?" Kukki asked.
"Energy." Pai said correcting her. Pai was not explaining the entire situation to them, nor did he plan to.
"Deep Blue-sama!" Kukki yelled.
A bright blue light appeared as Deep Blue appeared in front of them. Pai and the others knelt down on the ground. "Kukki…what are you doing calling Deep Blue-sama?" Pai whispered to her.
"What is it Ikisatashi Kukki?" Deep Blue asked.
"My brother Pai was injured on Earth. He is not explaining what happened on his time on Earth. Perhaps he will inform you what had transpired on Earth."
Pai's eyes widened. Kukki knew his weakness; he was fearful and respected Deep Blue. He was their leader and the most powerful Cyniclon there was.
"Ikisatashi Pai, what happened when you were on Earth?" Deep Blue asked.
Pai stared at the ground. He didn't speak for a moment. He didn't want to disobey Deep Blue's orders, and at the same time he knew that Deep Blue would be displeased when he told him what happened. He had to think a moment, trying to get his story straight.
"Pai…say something." Kisshu whispered to him.
"I was on Earth doing some recon, when I was attacked by three humans. They one had wounded me with his knife as I fought with him." Pai said.
"I see." Deep Blue said. "Is that all?"
"He didn't return to the ship for a day and a half." Kukki stated.
"Were you severely injured in the attack?" Deep Blue asked.
"I was injured but not severely." Pai stated. Pai paused for a moment and held up his hand to the ball of light that was Deep Blue, showing him the wound.
"His wounds are not healing correctly Deep Blue-sama." Kukki said.
"Strange. His powers should be able heal them correctly."
"He said he used up his remaining powers in the fight." Kisshu stated.
Pai glanced over at Kisshu with fiery eyes. "Damn it!" Pai cursed in his head. "Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!"
"Is this true Pai?" Deep Blue asked.
"I used up my energy Deep Blue-sama. I will however recover from this. I will not fail you." Pai said.
"Deep Blue-sama, I would like to know what we should do about this." Kukki asked looking up.
"I placed you in command Kukki. Tell me what you think we should do."
Kukki stood up and glanced at Pai, whose head was still hung. "I have two thoughts on this. Either we remove Pai from the mission and send him back to our planet to be healed, or…" she said looking at Pai who was now staring at her with wide eyes "keep him on the mission and allow him to heal slowly on the ship or in our dimension and allow him to only do recon and gather information."
Neither of these options was aggregable with Pai. He was a warrior, yes he enjoyed gathering information, but he would rather fight the Mew Mews and destroy the humans himself. Of course the other option of returning to the planet their people were on was out of the question in his mind. He didn't want to go home and seem like a failure.
"What do you think is a good option?" Deep Blue asked Kukki.
"I will need some time to decide what would be the best option in the long run." Kukki said kneeling back down. "Please give me some time to decide and I will inform you what my decision is."
"Very well." Deep Blue said then disappearing.
Pai stood up and looked at Kukki with fiery eyes. "She cannot possibly be thinking about sending me back to our current planet."
"Kukki, you aren't seriously thinking about sending Pai back to our planet are you?" Taruto asked.
Kukki was quiet for a moment. "You need to understand something Taruto, what matters right now are results. We need to save our people; we cannot have anything jeopardize the mission."
Pai clenched his fists and gritted his teeth. "That being said," Kukki said looking at Pai "I think you can still be of use to us. I need to weight all our options." she said teleporting to the ship.
Kisshu walked over to Pai and placed his hand on his shoulder. "Pai…are you alright?"
"I'm fine." he said through gritted teeth. "Take me back to my lab. I have research to finish."
Kisshu grabbed Pai by the arm and teleported him back to his lab. Pai placed his hands on his desk and stared at some papers. "Leave me be." Pai said not looking up. Taruto and Kisshu looked at each other and walked out of Pai's lab.
