Letters to a Friend

Chapter 1
Kara, Alex, and Nyssa went right to the Tower when the plane landed in National City. The latter would be staying there while she healed but the blonde wanted to get on Marie's trail as quickly as possible. She worried that the woman had gotten herself into some serious trouble. The statistics were not on their side.
"I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but what happens if we can't find Marie?" Nyssa asked the question that they'd all been avoiding. The three were getting into the elevator to head up to the nerve center of the building.
"I'm not in the habit of letting down ancient Greek warriors so…" Alex shrugged.
"Look, we all know the odds. So does Diana. She just wants to know what happened to her sister," Kara told them.
"I can't say as a I blame her, but how are we going to find her? If she was kidnapped, they would have gotten rid of her phone. That leaves security footage, which was probably wiped weeks ago," Nyssa wanted to help but she was seeing all the modern-day ways of finding people would probably not be helpful.
"That is what worries me," Kara admitted as they exited the elevator.
"Ladies, it is good to see you. I take it you were talking about our new case," J'onn greeted them. Kara and Alex hugged him before they shifted their focus to the task at hand.
"Yes, that's what we're worried about," Kara said.
"I went to the address that Diana gave me. I tried to psychically feel if anything happened there, but I got nothing. She must have disappeared from somewhere else," he explained. Kara frowned but had an idea.
"Have you been reading my mail?" She asked him.
"Paying the bills but anything that looked personal, we did not read," the Martian said, not sure what she was getting at.
"Every once in a while, Marie would send me a letter in a lead lined envelope. It was a joke between us," Kara told them.
"Your mail is at your apartment…" J'onn barely got the words out before Kara was out of the Tower balcony and into the skies of National City.
"This might be our only lead. Has Brainy had any luck?" Alex wanted to know.
"ARGUS had taken over the former DEO cameras and gave Brainy access down at their National City Headquarters. Luckily, ARGUS stores the files for two months before they archive or trash them. It's a lot to go through and he's working on it. I have to say, though, we haven't found any activity on her bank account other than what Diana mentioned to you," J'onn said.
"So, either the kidnappers still have her wallet or it's with her body somewhere," Nyssa said.
"Regrettably so. Same goes for her cell phone. It's off and we can't track it," the Martian shook his head.
"I need to reach out to my contacts. Perhaps the former League network has heard some rumblings," Nyssa told them.
"Good idea. Go for it," J'onn nodded before directing her down to the next floor so she could make calls in private.
"Is M'gann still filling in as Kara?" Alex asked, wondering where the Martian's better half was. Nia had to be at work as well given the hour.
"Yes, she will be glad to switch back to her old self. Though don't let her kid you, she enjoyed being Supergirl for a little while," he chuckled.
