Author's Note: So, yeah, another fanfic. Hey, when I have an idea, I want to share it. And, surprisingly, there's not too many Danny Phantom Reverse Trio fic's. So, why don't I try to put my own spin on it. I was starting to get into the series recently, so I thought, sure why not (It's a better idea than making a Gwen 10 fanfic, and by that I mean less chapters on my sanity).
Young Samantha Mason was just fourteen. An average high schooler, with less than average popularity. She was a protest on all things she thought was unjust in the world, from vegetarians to plant life.
This made her a bit of a rebel. She didn't really conform to the social norms, and often would even reject it. This made her a bit unpopular in the crowd. She only really made two friends in school. Danny Fenton, a nerdy, shy, and awkward kid who has dreams of going into space, who was often a victim of bullying, and Tucker, the local tech goth who just wanted to be seen as normal. The two she made friends with when they got to know each other entering high school, and had been with each other ever since.
What made her even more unpopular was her parents. Her parents took up… an unusual profession. Ghost-hunting (yes, just like the Ghostbusters). They believed there was a world unseen by human minds.
They were seen as a bit (of an exaggeration) eccentric. They would get a kick out of anything ghost related, which drove her insane. This led to her rebellious actions, trying her best to be something other than ghost related, taking her beliefs to the extreme.
But, no matter what she did, she always felt like she had her parents' shadow.
And no matter what, they would still be into ghost hunting.
As such, built a very strange machine.
A machine that was designed to view this world.
They called it the Ghost Portal.
Though, unfortunately, it didn't work. They tested it multiple times, but when it didn't quite work, they just quit.
Or so they thought.
A night after they thought the Ghost Portal failed, Sam heard a voice.
"Sam," it said, quietly.
Sam woke up from her bed hearing that. She looked around, but saw nobody. The voice sounded like an older woman, yet, at the same time, sounded about the same age, somehow.
"Sam…" it said, this time, a little louder.
"Alright, is someone there," Sam asked out right.
"Yes…" it said creepily.
"Ok, that was… not at all creepy," Sam replied, "Well then, who are you? And why are you talking to me? And why can't I see you?"
"All those questions… will be answered… meet me in the basement," it said, "And I'll tell you everything."
"Sam!"
Sam jumped, as she accidentally woke Tucker, who looked annoyed.
"If you want to have a sleepover, can you please acknowledge the sleep part of the sleepover," Tucker complained.
"Okay, Mister Moody," Sam replied, "Just a bad dream. Nothing too bad."
"Are you sure," Danny asked, who also got up.
"Yes," Sam replied quickly
"Okay then, well, I'm going back to bed," Tucker said, "Goodnight."
"Goodnight," Danny replied back.
The two then went back into his sleeping bag, and fell asleep. Sam, meanwhile, couldn't, as she decided to leave to find the voice.
She did her best to stay quiet. She snuck until she found herself away from Danny, or Tucker, or her parents.
"Voice… mysterious voice… are you still around," Sam asked out loud.
"Not so loud," it said, "You'll wake the entire neighbourhood with that loud of a voice."
"Sorry," Sam whispered.
"Remember what I had said," the voice said, "Meet me down in the basement."
'That sounded more like a demand than asking,' Sam thought.
Sam then headed down to her parents basement. It was purple, with a bunch of machinery on hand. On the desk, including a green thermos, and what seemed to be handguns.
"Alright, I'm here," Sam replied, "Where are you?"
"My name is Spectra," the voice said, but did not appear.
"Okay," Sam said, "Want to introduce something else?"
"I'm a being beyond this world," Spectra said, "Someone who had suffered for a long time in this… living hell."
"What are you," Sam asked.
"Oh, for the love of, I'm a ghost," she said.
"Wait… you're telling me they're real," Sam said.
"Yes, we're real, and yes we exist," Spectra replied, "And we need your help."
"Why do you need my help," Sam asked.
"All I ever wanted was to be free of this place," Spectra said, "We all do. And we need your help. Open the portal."
"What, but I thought Mom and Dad said that the portal doesn't work," Sam asked.
That seemed to tick off the ghost a bit, to the point of Spectra shouting.
"JEREMY AND PAM MASON ARE NOTHING MORE THAN DIRTY, STUPID, DIS-HONEST, LIARS," Spectra screeched at the top of her… lungs, I guess.
"And you said to me I could wake up the entire neighbourhood," Sam said to herself.
"Anyways, their… Ghost Portal could've worked, only one problem," Spectra said.
"What was that," Sam asked.
"It's not turned on," Spectra replied.
"Wait, seriously," Sam said, "That's it."
"That's it," Spectra replied, "And all you need to do on your end is to turn it on."
"And I should trust you… why," Sam asked.
"Cause I need your help," Spectra said, "And you've never said to someone in need of help now, would you?"
'That was true,' Sam thought to herself, 'Plus, from the way she said it, she sounds like she wants to get out. Plus, I've always wanted to see if this worked myself. The idea of a ghost world sounds really cool.'
"Fine, I'll help," Sam replied.
"Good, just find the button, and I will be free," Spectra replied.
"Just to be sure, if I free you, you won't try to betray me, or rule over humanity, right," Sam asked.
"Of course not," Spectra said, "I have much better things to do."
Sam looked around, in an attempt to find the On switch to the portal, but couldn't find it. She tried messing with the dials, hitting random buttons, or messing with the control desk, but the best she could get was a sliver of green lightning.
"I can't find it," Sam said, "At this point, the Earth will be extinct before I can find it."
"Have you checked… inside the portal," Spectra asked.
'Inside,' Sam thought, 'Who would put a button inside the… right, my parents.'
(Let's just say, Sam's parents in this timeline is not the brightest bulbs).
Sam knew that her Dad said the portal was dangerous. So as such, she grabbed a jumpsuit next to the portal. It was black and purple, with her dad's face stuck in the middle.
'Ugh, Dad,' Sam thought, as she tore the sticker off.
She then took a look inside of it.
Inside the portal had purple wiring all over the place. She looked around, and tried to see if there was anything.
Then she pressed something.
Before Sam had a chance to process it, there was a great, big flash of green light. Sam screamed, as it felt like everything just changed inside her. Her screams were only muted by the shocking, and terrifying sound of the machine that was killing her.
She fainted quickly after.
She first woke up later.
Sam shook her head as she felt weird. She looked around.
She didn't know what time it was. It was the basement, so of course not, but her parents didn't install a clock down there.
She decided to check her phone, only to find out its power was shorted out.
But that wasn't important.
Her hair, which used to be jet black, was now snow white, her eyes, which used to be purple, were now glowing green.
"What happened to me," Sam asked.
She looked down, and saw that the jumpsuit she was wearing was a different colour too. What used to be a black and purple suit, was now white where it was black, and green where it was purple.
"What happened," Sam asked, "I remembered going into the portal, and then…"
She then looked, and saw that the portal was on, glowing green energy in it, and swirling around in a vortex like style.
"Did the portal do this to me," Sam asked, "Oh, I'm so in trouble."
Suddenly, at that moment, something happened. Her hand started to fade. She saw through it, as if it turned invisible, as the phone fell though.
"What the," she yelled, as the rest of her body followed.
She soon found herself invisible.
"What's… what's happening," Sam said, as she started to feel a bit worried. She focused hard to become visible, but couldn't. She decided to walk, but every step felt… weird, as if she would fly away by accident.
Then, as she was starting to get used to it, her foot accidentally fell through the floor. She tripped through the floor, and deeper to levels of underground. It was dark, but her body was glowing a green aura underneath.
"Okay, so not only can I go invisible, I can also phase through stuff," Sam said, "Did that thing actually kill me, and turned me into a ghost."
Sam then flew upward, and phased back into the lab.
"I need help," Sam admitted.
She thought of going to her parents, but they live with the assumption that all ghosts are "maniacal, evil spirits, who want nothing more than the destruction of human-kind." They would shoot her on site if they saw her.
So, who else could she go to?
'Well, hope, Tucker or Danny won't kill me,' Sam thought to herself, 'That is, assuming I can be killed.'
Sam flew to her bedroom, where she shook the two boys awake.
"Guys, this is an emergency," Sam said.
"Sam, seriously, if it's still dark out, I am going to…" Tucker started to talk, but then he and Danny saw Sam floating above them.
"Hey," Sam said nervously.
The two boys screamed, waking up Mr and Mrs. Mason. They quickly rushed to her room, as Sam went invisible.
"What's going on here," Mrs. Mason said, "Is there a problem?"
"It's Sam," Tucker said, "She's…"
Just then, Tucker suddenly paused.
"She what, young man," Mr. Mason asked.
"She uh, she went to the bathroom," Tucker replied, somewhat in a different tone.
"Ok, then, what was that scream," Mr. Mason asked.
"We uh…" Tucker started, as he did some hand gestures to Danny, to which he understood.
"We uh, had a bad dream," Danny replied, "Yeah, and our screaming woke us up."
Thankfully, Sam's parents believe most things that are said (I mean, they're trying to hunt down ghosts, believing them to be real), so they stopped.
"Well don't scare us like that," Mrs. Mason said, "Or you're not allowed to sleep over here again."
"It's still five in the morning, why don't you get some sleep," Mr. Mason said.
"Oh, we will," Tucker said.
With that, they left the room, with Sam emerging out of Tucker's body.
"Well, wasn't sure that would work," Sam said.
"Sam, what happened," Danny asked.
"Why is your hair white," Tucker asked, "and where are your legs?"
"Huh," Sam said, as she noticed her legs had morphed into a ghost tail, "Oh, wait, maybe…"
Sam focused really hard, and her legs returned.
"Much better," Sam said.
"Sam," Danny said, "You're… you're…"
"A ghost, yeah, I kinda figured," Sam replied, "I don't fully remember what happened."
"Maybe some clues down at the lab may help," Tucker said, "Tell us everything."
(Later)
"Then, there was a great big flash, and everything just changed," Sam explained, "And then, when I first woke up, I realised I had snow white hair, and glowing green eyes."
"Ok," Danny said, "Well, maybe it's not as bad as it seems. I mean, we can still see and hear you, so you're not fully dead."
"What other powers are you able to use," Tucker said, "Outside of possessing me, which, we need to set some boundaries on."
"Well, I can walk through walls, disappear, and fly," Sam said.
"Huh, got it," Tucker said, "I just scanned a piece of DNA, using some scraps of your mother's tech, and you may want to see this."
Sam and Danny decided to check out what Tucker saw, and they saw a picture of some DNA. But, it looked as though it was glowing green.
"Whatever happened to you, it seemed to have changed your DNA," Tucker explained, "It seems to read as ecto-energy. AKA, Ghost energy."
"Wait, so I am a ghost," Sam asked.
"Not exactly," Tucker said, "There's still your regular, human DNA in there."
"So what, is Sam just part human and part ghost," Danny asked.
"How is that possible, am I part dead," Sam asked, "How can I be part dead?"
"I don't know, okay," Tucker said, "I'm not the ghost maniac, I'm the tech geek. We could ask your parents…"
"No,no, no, no, no, no," Sam quickly said, "My parents can never know about this."
"Why," Danny asked.
"Well, their thoughts on ghosts are evil spirits that haunt the living forever, so uh, yeah, they'd probably, literally kill me, if they find out," Sam explained, "Which begs the question, how am I going to hide this? I mean, I can't exactly just say I dyed my hair and change eye colours like that."
"I don't know," Tucker said.
That's when Danny spoke up, after realising something.
"Wait, remember how you changed your tail into legs just by concentrating," Danny pointed out, "Maybe it works with changing between this ghost form and human form?"
Sam and Tucker thought about, and there was nothing disproving Danny's theory.
"It's worth a shot," Sam said.
So, she concentrated. Thinking really hard, until, eventually, two purple rings of light formed around her waist. It pushed itself upwards and down, as her body returned back to normal, with her clothes even changing into the PJ's she wore earlier.
"WHOA," Sam exclaimed, as she fell from her flying.
She picked herself up, and looked at herself. She was back to normal.
"Phew," Sam said, "Good to know that's not permanent."
"Do you think you can change back," Danny asked.
"I think," Sam said, "Let me try."
She concentrated again, and the two rings formed again, changing her back, jumpsuit, white hair, and all. She tried changing back and forth.
"Whoa, this is kinda cool," Sam said.
"So, it seems like you can change between a human and a ghost at will, anytime you want," Tucker said.
"Sam, how do you feel," Danny asked.
Sam, in her ghost form, turned her hand invisible and replied, "Like things are going to be much different around here."
(Meanwhile)
A shadowy figure started to go around, as it formed a corporeal form, becoming somewhat of a human form, with a red dress, red hair, sunglasses, and high heels.
"At last, I'm home," she said.
Author's Note: Well this was longer than expected. Wonder how many views it will get. I am basically just throwing ideas, but I'm still going to try and complete some of my other fanfics too, don't worry. Hopefully, I can still work on some of the other fanfics, while working on ideas I feel passionate about. There is one big thing I have planned for this fic, you'll just have to wait and see.
Until next time.
