"Dear Paldean Student,
This is my first time attempting a pen pal program, so please bear with me. My name is Katrina, however I prefer 'Kitty'. It's shorter and less formal. Some of my friends here on MeleMele Island call me 'Kit-Kat'. I have a love-hate relationship for that nickname.
Here in Alola, we don't have traditional Gym-challenges like other regions. We have something called the 'Island Challenge'. New trainers go to different areas and challenge the lead pokemon of the area called a 'Totem Pokemon'. Once they defeat the Totem, they are given a Z-crystal to prove their rank in the challenge.
Z-Crystals are kind of like Mega Evolution…but for a Pokemon's MOVE, rather than the actual Pokemon themselves. Unfortunately, you can only use a Z-Move once during a Pokemon battle, so it's always good to have an effective strategy.
Tell me about yourself. What kind of Pokemon do you prefer being around? Do you enjoy Paldea? What do you want to do as you progress in your own journey? I look forward to hearing back from you and possibly becoming your friend.

Alola
Long live Tapu Koko
~Kitty of MeleMele"

"Lady Katrina,
Preferably known as Lady Kitty;
I give you my heartfelt thanks for thine letter. My name is Don Atticus, and it is an honor to make your acquaintance, Lady Kitty. From my observations of thy words, the islands of Alola fascinate me. I have heard the tales of four Pokemon that are known as 'the Guardians of Alola'. Mayhaps this 'Tapu Koko' you speak of is one of these Guardians? I would be most grateful to learn more of Alola and your wondrous ways.
You wrote of Pokemon known as 'Totems'. Such a peculiar title for a Pokemon, though I hardly have room to speak. Here in Paldea, some Pokemon in the wild are able to Terralizate for themselves.
I apologize, allow me to explain. 'Tarralization' is a phenomenon that is also similar to Mega Evolution. It can be used throughout a Pokemon battle, however; only a single type of move will receive power from this. Allow me to further my explanation. If a water type pokemon has a water type terralization ability, only the water type moves will benefit of power ups. Pokemon usually only benefit from this power-up if their trainer possesses a 'terra orb'. This is what dons the gift.
I just now realized I have failed to answer any of thine inquires. My sincerest apologies. Truly, Posion Pokemon are what fascinate me the most. I currently possess a Stunky as well as a Grimer. The two of them fill me with joy each day, I assure you. Truly I desire nothing more than to simply wait to see what the future may bring me. As for now, I only seek more Pokemon to add to my team and walk the path of the humble ninja.
Whatsay you, kind Lady? What Pokemon intrigue you the most? What are your own dreams?

I await your response and accept your hand of friendship, Lady Kitty.
Sincerely
Don Atticus of Paldea"

"Dear Don Atticus,
Alola!
I was thrilled to get your letter today! It certainly took a while due to the distance between our regions. First of all, your grammar is so amazing! Where did you learn the old medieval style? It's far too hard for me to be so dignified. I envy you.
So you like Poison type Pokemon? I've never really spent much time with them. There are Pokemon here in Alola known as 'Salandit' and 'Salazzle'. Real spicy tempers. I think they're Poison / Fire type Pokemon.
Paldea's 'Terralization' sounds so interesting! I would love to see it for myself someday.
Since you're curious about Tapu Koko, I'll happily tell you some of our legends! The Tapus are indeed the Guardians of Alola; each are the leader of one island. Tapu Koko is over MeleMele Island, where my home is. Tapu Lele is over Akala Island; Tapu Bulu over Ula'Ula Island; and finally Tapu Fini is over Poni Island.
Each Tapu is a little fickle and tend to prefer solitude, however we villagers depend on them for protection, should Totem Pokemon break Tapu law. Or even if humans decide to be reckless. There has been a time when Tapu Bulu was angered because some villagers attempted to modernize a protected area. We now have strict rules to have an Island Kahuna inquire where we may or may not build.
You mentioned you love Poison type Pokemon. I absolutely adore Ice type Pokemon. Recently I caught a Sandshrew, or rather, an ALOLAN Sandshrew. It's an Ice / Steel Pokemon, and he's such a little ruckus-maker. He loves eating all the ice out of my mother's freezer.
…So we named him 'Freezer'! Yeah, real original, I know.
Here's a doodle I made of him for you! I also drew a Salazzle for you since you enjoy Poison Types. My dream? I absolutely love to draw. I love ART in general. I would love to write and illustrate books describing Pokemon…though, that seems like a petty dream, considering we have the Pokedex.

I hope to hear from you Don Atticus!
…May I call you Don? Or Atticus? It's a little shorter. I hope that's not disrespectful.

Alola!
Long live Tapu Koko!
~Kitty"

"Lady Kitty
My sincerest gratitude for your most recent letter. I deeply and sincerely apologize for your wait. I am dealing with a slight irritation at the school I attend. I recently joined Uva Academy in Paldea, along with Stunky and Grimer. Learning the basics of Pokemon is always a wise choice when one desires to live among the Tagtree Forest.
I was truly stunned to learn my demeanor was acceptable to you. I am often scorned for 'being old-fashioned' as some heathen may say. I walk the path of the ninja, thus I appreciate the grace of history. For what are we, should we erase our own history? Nay I say.
You were very kind to share your wisdom with me regarding the Tapus that reside within your region. These Tapus sound very stern, albeit protective of their islands. Mayhaps they desire for their residence to embrace each others needs rather than only pursue their own? Tis only my own speculation.
Ice-Types you say? I have very little to no experience with ice-type Pokemon. However, the artwork you sent to me of this 'Alolan Sandshrew' is truly breathtaking! Simply spectacular! The attention to detail on the Pokemon is likened to a cold winter's bite. I can see the differences between your Sandshrew vs the Sandshrew that reside in other regions.
Sadly, Paldea does not possess either kind of Sandshrew. A true shame, for I have been schooled that the Pokemon Sandslash is capable of learning the move 'Poison Jab'. A truly deadly move, should you ever need to go up against grass or fairy Pokemon.
I also must thank you for the stunning picture of Salazzle. I have never had the heart to journey through Paldea's caves, as I prefer to be under the blanket of nature. Salandit and Salazzle have the tendency to be in covered areas such as caves. Mores the pity.

I wish you good health, Lady Kitty. I will eagerly anticipate your next reply.
Also, I find no offense for you to identify me as simply 'Atticus'. I will take it as a sign of our growing friendship.
Peace upon your house, kind Lady Kitty.

Sincerely;
Don Atticus."
