Hi everyone, I'm used to writing other shows and movies so this is my first Harry Potter story. I've been reading a ton of stories and a lot are abandoned or say they'll update and it's from years ago and that makes me sad so I thought I'd write my own. I love the HP/DG pairing so this story will be Haphne throughout with undertones of Neville/Hermione and eventually others. Some Hermione, Weasley, and Dumbledore bashing and lots of Ginny bashing. Slight AU but mostly Canon. Please read and review I always love hearing what you though and if you like the story, and of course I'll always take constructive criticism to make the story and my writing better. Gonna aim for each chapter to be 2k - 4k words but 2k absolute least.

Chapter 1.
New beginnings
Platform 9 - King's Cross Station, London
As he came out the other side of the same old brick wall he was used to, 17-year-old Harry Potter, now known as the Boy-Who-won by the entirety of the wizarding world, sighed and pushed his glasses up. I can't believe I'm back here again. He thought as he headed towards the train. He recognized the majority of students that he saw running on and towards the Hogwarts Express. He scanned the platform looking for his two best friends and his emerald eyes landed on a bright red spot and a bushy red brown spot by the middle of the train. As he approached he smiled widely and actually hoped he would enjoy this year. As he got closer his train of thought completely stopped as he noticed that Ginny and George Weasley were all with them.
You've got to be fucking kidding me, of course, Ginny and Fred would be with their brother.
Harry sulked mentally. He stopped quickly and said hi to both Hermione and Ron as he gave George a solemn smile. George gave a hollow smile back, Harry had known all summer he still hadn't gotten past losing Fred to the battle of Hogwarts last year. He didn't even give Ginny a cursory glance as he stopped on the train. He ignored the calls of Hermione and Ron and dragged his trunks and new owl cage into the first compartment he could find that wasn't near an entrance. He shut the door cast a light privacy charm on the door and flopped down into his seat. He took his signature glasses off and pinched the bridge of his nose.
I am not looking forward to seeing Ginny in Gryffndor all year. I can't believe she cheated on me, and with Blaise Zabini no less. I know I was on the run for a year and we hadn't broken up but the fact she flouted him all summer when I was visiting Ron hurts most. The worst part is Ron is taking Ginny's side and I know Hermione never takes sides even now. I'm completely alone. Again. At least I still have the experiences I had I've the summer becoming a Lord and all that stuff with my inheritance and learning about my family. I still need to-
His train of thought ran off the tracks as the train lurched and he heard a girl cry out in pain outside his compartment door and another voice laughing. He took the elder wand out and with a flick the charm was gone and he opened his door. He turned his head and his eyes saw the most beautiful sight. A short blonde girl wearing a skirt and jumper and long white socks, with the longest most beautiful blonde hair he'd ever seen. He trailed over her figure for a second as she had curves in all the right places and a sizeable bust then her eyes flickered up to meet his. He froze for a split second as he gazed into the most soul-piecing stunning blue eyes he had ever seen.
"Hi, um are you guys ok?" He breathed the words more than actually spoke them as he had to shake his head clear.
The blonde girl's eyes flashed with recognition of who had talked to her and she as well stared analyzing and examining him as what he thought was a small blush on her ears. After a couple of seconds, then another much shorter brown-haired girl beside her spoke up.
"She's fine the train moving scared her and she tripped over my truck into the door." She smirked then continued "Seems like she's a little preoccupied now though."
The girl blinked a few times then glared at the smaller girl and turned back to Harry.
"Yes I'm quite alright, thank you Potter," she said with an appreciative glance.
"Holy shit you're really him?" The younger girl said as she stared at him intently. "My name is Astoria Greengrass and this is my sister Daphne," she said motioning to the blonde girl with an excited look on her face. "Can we sit with you please, um unless there's no room in there?" the brown jgirl said pointing at the empty compartment behind him.
"Uh yeah you can sit" he was able to finally able to get out.
He stepped aside and let them go in first as Daphne nodded with a slight expression Harry couldn't make out. He closed the door and sat down opposite the two girls. He smiled awkwardly as he tried to figure out what he was gonna say his eyes drifted to the color of her jumper and more importantly, the crest on the dark green wool he had just noticed. It was a silver snake. He then knew exactly who was sitting across from him. Daphne Greengrass, or as Hogwarts was concerned her moniker, the Ice Queen. Of course, they'd be Slitheryn, but since I did get rid of Voldemort what's it matter it's not like I have any friends right now anyway.
The beautiful girl in front of him, as if she could see the fears turning in his head finally decided to speak.
"Just because we're in Slitheryn doesn't mean we hate you Potter, quite the contrary actually." "You saved the world my sister and I live in, you can't let people like Malfoy ruin your image of pure-blood families." "And the Greengrasses were and always have remained neutral." Daphne gave him a curious look as she finished talking to him, her sister as he had just found out still looked at him with wide eyes.
"I more so was thinking of why you wanted to sit with me at all." "Sure you're a Slitheryn and while you and Gryffndors don't always get along.." he trailed off under her intense gaze as he rubbed the back of his head and tried to finish his thought. "I'm sure you have your own friends I was just wrapping my head around why'd you wanna sit with well you know, me?"
It came out softer than he intended to. They both looked a little more than surprised the younger girl stared at him in minor disbelief and Daphne had a slight smirk on her face.
"Well my sister was someone you saved during the battle last year and never got to thank you and I myself have known who are for years." "Of course, it was hard not to with Malfoy being thoroughly unable to go a day without speaking of you, mentioning some absurd adventure you got yourself into or how much he hates you."
Harry's curiosity started to peak as he felt bold enough to ask a question.
"So why decide to sit with me and just not find your own compartment?" It came out much less confused than he really was. She looked at him then her sister who was grinning and then back to him.
"Well, my sister had been wanting to find you or write to you to say thank you all summer." She said as Astoria suddenly looked almost sheepish. "As for me, since third year I've had a personal interest you could say to see if you were exactly what everyone says about you or if there's more to it than what the Prophet says."
He must've looked caught off guard, which was not hard considering how long and frustrating his summer and the morning had been. He let himself smile reach his face as he decided now more than ever he would need friends.
"So Greengrass, I hear your head girl this year, any idea who the head boy is?" He questioned trying to find common ground.
"No I haven't the slightest idea, Malfoy was top in our year but seeing as he was an annoying prat and has the mark and isn't allowed back, I have to wait and see who came in second." She eyed him curiously as she kept her gaze fixated on him.
"You're looking at him, Greengrass." He said smiling more than he had thought, he relaxed into his seat and saw the looks on their faces, which were pure curiosity and surprise.
"You were second best?" "I remember you were dreadful in potions, at least til somehow you miraculously became supposedly top of the class your sixth year." She started trying to hide her surprise.
"Draco says it's because you cheated, but obviously he's lying right?"Astoria had chosen her time to interject carefully and Harry lifted his hands up
"No I didn't cheat." "Last time I checked we didn't really interact at all and I'm in need of friends this year and wanted to know if you would want to be friends?" He regretted it as soon as it came out of his mouth.
Fuck, of course, I just jumped to that no wonder I'm a Gryffndor. Hopefully, I didn't come across as desperate as that.
"I suppose that would be alright, although it is customary for friends to know about each other so I will have to ask you about yourself." "As I said before most of what I know is from the Daily Prophet or Malfoy, so I hope you're ready Potter." She said with a tiny smile he thought he saw creep up on her face. He smiled and swore he felt a blush creep up at the tips of his ears. For the next what felt like hours Astoria and Daphne thoroughly questioned Harry about his favorite spells, charms, classes what it was like to be a Lord since it was obvious he had no idea what he was doing. "You know Potter, if you would like help learning what it means to be a Lord I would be most welcome to help you." "As I myself am a Lady of the House of Greengrass." He hoped he didn't look as shocked as he was.
"You're a lady?"
"Well my title is HeiressGreengrass usually fellow nobles address each other by title, as we happen to still be in school I'll allow you to refer to me as Greengrass, maybe in the future as our new friendship progresses, Daphne." "But that remains to be seen." He could swear she was smirking. Harry cast a Tempus charm and realized they still had an hour left to go. He settled in and bravely started asking the icy yet beautiful girl in front of him whatever questions his relatively inexperienced mind could come up with.

Hogwarts Castle -Scotland
As the train gradually pulled into the station at Hogwarts, the three of them realized what this meant. Surely even after the battle and the Dark Lord beaten; two Pureblood Slitheryn nobles being seen with the Gryffndor Golden Boy would've raised suspicions. Astoria shyly hugged Harry and said thank you again for saving her last spring and rushed off to find her friends. Daphne blushed slightly,
"Well Potter let's go get a carriage as it's customary for the head boy and girl to go to the castle tougher as a show of unity." "I am sure now more than ever that would take precedence." She stood up primly and straightened out her skirt and grabbed her trunks as motioned for Harry to follow her. As they climbed off the train, Harry saw a familiar bearded giant he had come to love.
"Harry" Hagrid only managed to get out before Harry pulled into a hug and then regretted it instantly as Hagrid squeezed the boy tight.
"Uh Hagrid I can't breathe" Harry was able to get out while smiling widely and laughing,
"Sorry Harry it's so happy you're back for your last year." They smiled proudly at Harry and he couldn't but smile back. Little did he know Daphne was watching their interaction behind Harry smiling at the two. "Who's yer friend Harry?" Asked Hagrid Harry suddenly got flustered and turned to Daphne
" Hagrid this is my new friend Daphne Greengrass" he said cursing himself for forgetting the new ways he had learned to introduce and refer to nobles. Hagrid smiled at her
"Any friend of Harry's is a friend of mine." "Enjoy the year you lot!" He said excitedly as he walked toward the first years as once happened to Harry.
"So, I've never been a prefect or obviously Head Boy, so while we wait for a carriage care to tell me about it?" He tentatively asked. For the first time, he had known Daphne, which wasn't long she genuinely cracked for a moment and smiled.
"I'd love to Potter." "Let us take this carriage here" she Motioned to the carriage that just pulled in behind them. "Come lady Greengrass," he said goofily as he extended a hand to her. You've got to be kidding me I'm making a fool of myself. He thought as she sat thinking for a moment. She let a half smile through her face as she blushed a tiny bit and took his hand. He helped her into the carriage and shut the door. What Harry was oblivious to was the scene behind him. Ron and Hermione had watched the whole interaction between Harry, Hagrid, and Daphne. Ron's mouth was hanging open with a look of angry confusion, Hermione face was twisted with concern, George's face glinted a smirk behind the haunted look on his face and Ginny Weasley had a look of pure anger on her face as she watched Harry and Daphne's carriage head off towards the castle.
