Sonic
The grass and dirt brush against my shoes as I follow Amelia to the dark world. We start to run once we found that glossy barrier she went into before to see if this was the way to get out.
She runs and pushes on the wall, but it does not let her through.
And she has been trying for the past 20 minutes to get inside.
"Fuck!" Amelia starts panting and then she turns to me who was just standing behind her. "This isn't going to work! We are trapped."
"I didn't expect it too." And my words make Amelia frown. " We should head back to your spirit realm to stay safe and to also wait for us being locked here to end. We have three hours in real life and three days here. We can game plan and think of a way to get out of here-"
"Sonic, I'm not waiting three days." Amelia turns away from me and goes back to attacking the wall.
"Amelia we can't get out-"
"I know!"
Amelia rubs her face and turn to with a frustrated look. "I know…"
I bring her into a hug, and she sniffles hugs me back.
"I'm afraid of what is going to happen."
"I am too but we have to trust our friends that they will keep us and everyone safe." I pull her back and then I point behind me. "Let's go back to your realm and rest."
Amelia nods her head unwillingly and then we flash back to her realm. The warmness of the sky and flowers sprung up with every step we took to the tree, and she sat beside it, and I sat with her as well as we waited.
"Why the long face princess?" The tree awoken with a big yawn and offered her a pear which she took this time and then he offered me an orange.
"We can't leave."
"I see you have finally understood." The tree says and leans back up and then extends its branches to block some of sunlight on us. "As you are here. You can train. Rest. Sleep. Eat. Whichever is your desire."
"Training is a good idea. But could you give me some information?" Amelia turns towards the tree.
"Yes, your majesty."
"Spirts. I need to understand how to stop the evil ones. I need to be prepared for what is to come. My friend Axel has that evil spirit energy but I'm afraid that if he is powerful enough to send us here… then what else could he do or be doing? " Her stress made my eyebrows burrow, and she touches the tree. "Any information you know would be greatly appreciated. "
The trees leave blow in the wind before answering and then it spoke.
"Evil spirts are overpowered beings because of the spirit upbringings. As you have discussed with your friend Axel, he has seemed feel evil thoughts and feelings, causing the spirts to fuel off of that. These powers aren't able to help anyone, as you can tell from how you and the prince rejects the power. Spirits are fueled by the mutilated thoughts and feelings of the individual. Which is why Axel is as strong as he is now to send you both here to the spirit world for three days. This has been done before and I can say that it's impossible to get out of until the time is up."
After his words my heart was beating quicker.
"D-does that mean he could be putting his rage on others?"
"Yes Princess."
Amelia took a huge bite out of her pear and then she looked at the tree while she stood.
"Is he killing people-"
"Yes princess."
Her eyes shook and finished the rest of her pear.
"He is very strong to where you could not take him on, on your own. This acquires at least four people."
Amelia rubbed her face stressfully and I stood up as she started to walk away from the tree.
"Amelia." Her steps continued until she walked up the hill and stopped.
"Let's train." She says and wipes her face.
"Four people to beat him. No. We will do it ourselves." She stands firmly and speaks. "I have two abilities. With that… That's at least three people so if we can change the odds with training, then that has to change something."
I nod my head and she smile softly.
"We don't have a choice…" Amelia wipes another tear . "I'm going to have to kill someone that I love to save the world. If not, then…. Water and fire benders will be extinct along with air benders when there is already a small amount… I'll risk my life before I ever let that happen-"
"No one is risking their lives. WE are going fight as soon as we get back to earth and we are winning. We are beating the odds."
" Are we?"
"Yes. We are. Let's train and learn the most we can and then once we go back… We are ending this. No more wars. No more hate. No more evil spirts. Just peace and unity." I pull her in, and she rubs her face free from tears.
"Right."
"Good. Now. If we are going to train. Then it has to be the most efficient of hours we have left. We are going to use the time he gave us to become stronger." I start stretching and Amelia watches me.
"How… working out?"
"Meditating and then… we are going to master lightning." I say and Amelia breathing stops. "Lightning is the strongest bolt of power there is when it comes to elemental bending. So, if we use lightning then we should be able to do some damage on him. That would also give us an advantage if we both hit him with the lightning because then it would be like-"
"Four people." We say in unison, but Amelia didn't look as confident as me.
"I'm afraid. I've already been hit with the strongest lightning, so doing this should be easy? Right."
"… I forgot about that… "I look down to her leg but then my eyes come to her, and I touch her cheek. "This is your time to overcome this, you are already so strong now since that day so now it's time."
"Is it?"
"You were always meant to fire bend, Amelia. But you were gifted with both. "
"Right."
"Let's start now."
"Okay. First, we will meditate for about thirty minutes. Cheyenne taught me before using a different power or before practicing… we should meditate." I sit down and cross my legs with a straight spine and Amelia copies. "Feel every flicker of fire running through you. Ignore axinites. Ignore the grass touching us below. Just breath and feel the heat."
Amelia sits quickly and starts to become silent. All we could feel was the heat around us from the sun and then flames moving around our bodies within. My chest moved up and down softly as I focused on my energy.
It felt as if my conscious moved further in my mind and could feel myself roar in flames as I focused my best ability forward. I felt a hand on my shoulder, but I was far back in my mind to react to it, so it took me a moment to come back.
My eyes opened and it was a leaf on my shoulder. I took it off and then looked at Amelia.
She was focused like I was, but I was sure that more than thirty minutes had passed.
"Amelia?"
Her eyebrow moved and then she opened slowly.
"How long has it been?" She asked and I stood up carefully and grabbed her hand and lifted her.
"Enough time. Now. I need you to think of somewhere else in the spirt world , where it is raining. Storming. Lightning. We need to sense it to feel it so we can control it."
Amelia nodded her head, and she grabbed my hand. I watched her search for it and then I felt us jolt and we appeared in a small town.
The weather was blowing harshly with the heavy rains and winds. The sky thundered a warning that it was lightning to come before it and then first flash caused Amelia to flinch.
"This is perfect, now. Close your eyes and sense the patterns. Feel the lightning above."
I close mine and she does the same as we listened. It thundered loud once more, and I listen Amelia touch me and I open my eyes.
"I'm not sure I can do this. I sense it already and-"
The lightning smashed through the ground 50 feet from us, and we both looked but she brought my attention back.
"I feel the surge of power b-but… I'm not sure I can bend it!" Amelia worried and I walked her over to an empty house and she watched as I didn't come in.
"Watch me cast it." I say and I walk away from her and back into the storm.
The puddles splashed below my feet, and I look at the sky with rain falling on my face. I stretch my hands upwards and then I slowly lower them down, but it felt resisted. I breath out slowly and then I fold my fingers down besides my pointer and my middle finder. My hands felt staticity and as I waved them around. Searching for the source of the power where the lightning was appearing. My hand moved closer to the sky and the resistance came back with more of a ringing noise in my ear and then I felt it. The shock of huge power into my fingertips. My eyes opened as I saw the bright light dance around my finger and down to my arms. I move my heavy arm quickly and I moved it to my chest and shot it out my other arm.
I hit the ground once the power left me, and I start at myself in a puddle.
"I did it."
"Sonic!" I turn and see Amelia running towards me and she held my face. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah… I think I did it." I say standing up and then the thunder roared again but I felt more control over the storm than I was moments ago. "You try."
"I-… how I don't think I can hold all of that in me." Her eyes move from the sky.
"You have to try Amelia. We don't have much time and we need to boost your powers. You are going to need everything you can do before we head back and who knows… your lightning might be three people worth because of your mother's history of her power with lightning. " She wipes her face and sighs nervously.
"You can do it… Just focus on moving it in and push it out. Find it and push it out. Breath and focus. Just like what we did for meditating. Do it for this." I encourage and she nods her head.
"Alright. I will try. "
I give her space and she watch me walk away. She closes her eyes and then focuses on the sky. The sky roars louder than it did for me, and I watched her left her arms to the sky. The wind picked up and then she stumbled back slightly.
"Come on, Amelia. Focus."
The pressure of the lightning was pushing down on her, but she was doing the same back causing her to finally fix her fingers and allow the lightning to come through.
A loud bolt came from the sky in an instant and I didn't even see it enter her. Her eyes bucked up and she fell to the ground.
"Amy, Release it!" I yelled and wondered how she could hold such a power.
Her body cramped up and her eyes and face were turning red. I grab her arms and try to pull it out, but it was shrunk in.
"Fuck! She could burn alive!"
"Amy, shoot it anywhere! Shoot it out!" I yell at her as she was suffocating from the large amount of power.
She yelped out and pushed her arm out and it shot out her body at last. Her body dropped cold, and I brought her to my face.
"Amy?!" I felt her face and it was freezing. I grabbed her body and rain into the random home. The house was poorly built but I placed her in the bed after taking her clothes off and warmed her up as I made a small fire with rags and sticks.
Her breathing was fast as I held her, and I moved closer to her.
"Amelia… I'm sorry. I should have listened to you and now you are passed out."
I brought her body closer as she breathed fast and then I looked down at her body. She looked normal but her face was pained. I decided to let her rest on her own and I got out of bed with her and sat and watched her. Her eyes were puffy and her toes with still clenched like she was being electrocuted.
My eyes watched her carefully without blinking until she finally stopped breathing so hard. I touched her forehead and it felt normal, but her sleeping was not.
Some time had passed, and I even rested my hand on my knees with my face until I heard her spring up.
Our eyes met and I crawled to her.
"Wait, lay down first-"
"I thought…. I thought I died." Amelia said and I shook my head. "I couldn't breathe…. And then I was stuck my mind."
"Am I pushing you too much? Maybe we shouldn't do this anymore." I say and Amelia eyes saddened.
"But I need to try." Amelia stands up and grunts." I have to get stronger."
"Amelia, I don't want you to harm yourself for this. What if this was back in real life?"
She falls back down, and I catch her before she fell.
"Amelia, just hold on."
"Sonic, I can't… we have two hours left and I need to be able to do this. Let me do this!" Amelia yelled and I moved closer to her and held her face.
"I'm not about to let you overwork yourself. Just rest for a moment. Please."
Amelia rolled her eyes and laid down angrily. Her face left my hands and I watch her get comfortable. I slide into the thin sheet, and I turn her around and hold her. My heat evaporates the angry that was about to come out of her mouth and then her eyebrows relaxed from frowning.
"Thank you." I say and she starts to blush, and I kiss her forehead.
Our eyes meet and my mouth opens without instruction too.
"I…" I get lost in her worlds of blue and then she moves closer.
"What?" she asks gently, and I shook my head, and I kissed her lips.
"Nothing… But um. When we return back. I want you to know that I'm protecting you, your kingdom and mine. The earth to keep you safe."
Amelia eyes crinkled and so did her lips.
"I know. I'll do the same-"
"You won't have to worry about me. Your focus can be just saving Axel." Amelia eyes watered and she nodded her head. "Whatever you have to say to get him back… I won't be offended or nothing of the less."
"Okay. Thank you."
We rested in the run-down house and I listen to Amelia snore lightly. I turn my head away from her and I stare into the flashing lights of lightning.
"I'll protect every….er… every…"
"He is awake!" said a nurse and a cool towel goes to my face.
There were multiple people and doctors running around in the dimmed tint I was in and then I lean up quickly.
"Please save my baby girl!" Yelled a woman walking into the tent and they started healing her.
The girl was knocked clean out, but her mouth dripped with blood, causing me to stand up.
"Prince Sonic, please wait-"
"Where is she?" I asked and her face looked frightened.
"We are not sure Prince… but dear chaos I hope she is alright!" the nurse was freighted.
My palms sweat and my arms shake, I walk outside and almost run into some people scurrying to a tent. My eyes starred at the back of the castle that was in good condition, but my eyes went past that.
Smoke. Dark grey clouds. Yelling. Warm winds. And hundreds of people. Hundreds of people that were worried and trying to get to the safety zone behind me.
"Have you seen the princess?" I asked a random person who shook their head and ran past me.
I started to ask more people. I needed to know where she was before I…
I stopped in my steps as the sky went black and then light reappeared as the ground shook. Everyone sped up their pace and I watched an elder lady fall. I ran to help her and as she thanked me, I passed her on to a citizen.
I flew in the air and inhaled.
"Everyone!" I yelled and some turned their heads to listen to, but others moved slower.
"Take care of one another. I know it may seem scary, but I will let nothing happen to you all. Please make sure that we all get somewhere safe!"
Their eyes moved to each other and then they moved slower but more diligent, letting the injured by and the children.
I flew off fast as my eyes watered up just as my palms were as some debris hit my face.
"Please Chaos. Please her be okay."
