Chapter 6 Two weeks later

Raven;

So two weeks had passed and with each day my hopes had gone down. I really liked Drew, but perhaps two weeks with no contact, I guess that sent the message loud and clear. So I decided that the best way to forget Drew was to take my youngest sister Jamie fishing. Or as she would put it, going fishy. The walk to Dad's was a long one but it never felt that way when I was with Jamie, or even Iziah. We were too busy chatting so the walk always went by in a flash. Right now Jamie was chattering on about the bright flowers and general nature sounds.

Years ago Jamie suffered an injury that I refuse to call an accident because we all knows it was anything but. Anyways the injury left her with only one side of her brain, she had issues with memory, impulse control, bascially everything that required a fully working brain was now only working at fifty percent. This may sound cruel but I love her even more now and when the end comes, she'll be the one I miss the most.

Suddenly Jamie stopped, a bright pink flower in her hand, her nimble fingers patting the petals like it was her new pet, knowing Jam that could very well be true. The thing I loved about Jamie was her love for loud noises and bright colours.

"So explain to me one more time, what happened exactly?" Her round face looking down at me, see Jam who is still growing was all ready at five-eleven while I'm stuck with my five-three frame. I know it shocked people to know that we were related, given her honey blonde hair and bright blue eyes, she reminded me of Barbie but without the plastic.

It didn't matter to me that this was the fifth time I had shared this with her, her memory was like sieve but with much bigger holes. The only thing Jam liked more than noises and colours was the ability to help, so when Iziah opened her big trap about Drew, Jamie wanted to know how to help. She pretty much insisted that she help, me thinks she just wanted some gossip.

"Ok I met a guy" "That's great!"

"Took him back to the boat" "As you do" Jam agreed nodding her head in deep thought.

"Had mind blowing sex"

Jamie tried to hold in her giggles but didn't quite succeed, despite being married for three years the thought of people naked still made her giggle like a school girl.

"Then he left his number" "Oooh! Tell me it was barbeque!, I'm all about barbeque right now!" Jamie cheered almost falling over her own feet, I managed to grab her wrist to stop her from connecting with the concrete, I tried not to wince in pain at my left wrist, I was used to it hurting, like it was reminding me of the situation I was in, trust me, I didn't need the reminder.

"It was his real number Jamie"

"That's weird Rae, tell me thats weird right?"

"I thought so too but apparently not" I failed to mention that when I was near him the pain stopped, and thankfully so far only I knew that information, not even Izzy knew cause I knew what she would do and I'm pretty sure shot-gun weddings went out with shoulder pads and leg warmers.

Thankfully Jamie started walking again "Then what happened?"

"Well I rung it, got freaked out then I went played cards with Dad and there he was, he gave me a ride home and then more sex then we exchanged numbers properly but now its been two weeks and he hasn't made any kind of contact"

"That bastage!" Jamie gasped, according to her that was the worst thing to happen to me, everything I had been through pailed in comparison to getting stood up by a guy that I didn't really know, to be fair I was very interested in changing that.

Jamie had grown tired of our talk so she ran ahead since we weren't too far from Dads, just as she got to the front door I noticed something that actually made nerves float round in my belly, that familiar truck parked in Dad's driveway, I should reconize it, I did spend the better part of my night bent over the damn thing. It might be an opportunity to find out some things but then again it could go horribly wrong. Jamie was all ready inside when I caught up to her, she was standing in the hallway, doing her odd squats which is her way of jumping up and down, the last time she actually jumped she landed perfectly fine until she got dizzy and knocked her head against the wall and wound up in hospital for a week.

"Dad! Dad! Dad! Dad! Dad! Dad! Dad! Dad! Dad! Dad! Dad! Dad!Dad! Dad! Dad! Dad! Dad! Dad!"

"Jam! Go and see him while I find the tacklebox"

For a moment she stopped, fear written on her face "What if he's in there?"

"He's not Jam, I give you my word"

She still looked unsure but trusted me as she always did, back to full bull Jamie she burst into the kitchen, I'm kinda hoping that she scared at least one of them. You know the one I mean.

Random kitchen time!

Jamie burst in hoping to make at least one person jump, she was oh so proud that they all jumped except Dad because he was well aware that Jamie was around. Jamie gave Dad a kiss and a hug.

"Hi Dad! Guess where Rae is takin me!?"

Dad laughed, "Inside voice Jam, so where is Rae taking you?"

"We are going fishys!" Jamie decided to just randomly sit down, since there were no seats free she just sat on Shawn's lap. "Rae is just lookin for the candy box"

She looked around the table, trying to see if she could remember anyone on her own. Of course she looked right at Drew,

"You. You I don't know"

He extended his hand, Jamie's small hand completely vanished. "I'm Drew"

Jamie shook his hand because that was just good manners, when she pulled away she clapped her hands in pure delight, "You talk funny! Say more words!"

Drew kept the laugh to himself, but decided to give the young lady what she wanted, "I'm gonna hit the head"

Jamie giggled behind her hands, Shawn however looked at Drew like he was about to commit some kind crime, or he was annoyed at Jam for her loudness.

"Would you like to hold it for me Shawn" Drew teased the older man, he read the man's face like it was second nature. A skill he wasn't aware that he even had until now apparently.

"Hold what? If it helps I'm very good at holding things, unless it's a fire hose" Jamie interrupted, her hand shooting into the air almost catching Hunter in the face.

Dad shook his head trying not to laugh, he just pointed at the kitchen which led to the bathroom, "Go Drew, just go"

Drew;

When I opened the door to the bathroom there she was sitting on the bench next to the sink. Her tiny legs folded underneath her while she played on her phone.

"Let's just hope you don't have to piss cause this could get awkward although in fairness it's not like I ain't seen a guy taking a leak before"

"There is so much in that sentence that I have to wonder about but no I don't gotta piss Rae, but I am happy to see you"

"Wanna see a miracle Drew?"

"Sure"

She pressed some buttons on her phone, that annoying jingly ringtone burst around the small room making it sound louder. Rae waved her hands like she was magician

"Wow! Your phone is working now! It's a miracle!"

I knew that two weeks and no contact was gonna be bought up, either she was gonna be really pissed or really sad.

"Do me a favour Drew, on your phone create a new message that says either I wanna see you or I don't wanna see you again, then tell me just how long that took, cause I'm pretty sure it only takes like thirty seconds"

"Ok Raven, I get your point and I'm sorry"

She let out a smirk, "All right I'll let you off the hook, but you only get one of those." She looked at her watch, "Since we're running low on time all you have to do is answer a simple question, would you like to see me A) purely sexual B) the whole courting thing or C) not at all. And since time is short and all, you just gotta pick a letter"

How did all this cotton get in my mouth? I tried to speak, tried to think but everything was being swallowed and drowned in cotton. When I thought I had ability to at least pick B, the rattling started at the door, followed by one word repeatedly.

"Rae! Rae! Rae! Rae! Rae! Rae! Rae! Rae!"

"Looks like time was shorter than I thought, feel free to at least text an answer Drew, that would be greatly appriceated"

Rae got off the sink and went to relieve her sister who was still banging, I grabbed her wrist, a slight shadowy pain crossed her face but it was gone in seconds, I wasn't even sure it was real. Her small body pressed against mine so perfectly, I needed to feel her lips even if for a second.

"Hey! The door opens!" Jamie got tired of banging and just walsed in, when she saw me wrapped around her sister, she looked confused, and I have a strong feeling that Jamie is always confused.

"Do you know that you guys are in the bathroom together?" Then her face hit recognition, "Did he ask you to hold it Rae? Cause I don't think you know what that means"

I was very sure that Jamie didn't know either but lets just move on from that shall we.

"Jam go say good bye to Dad and Hunter, and this" She gestured to the whole bathroom scene, "Is official ROI"

Jamie saluted her like a perfect soldier, well it would've been perfect if Jamie was trying her hardest not to laugh.

"Ok before I go Rae what does ROI mean?"

"It means Raven Only Information. Basically she won't say anything about what exactly was going on in Dad's bathroom"

I thought I was being casual, I really thought no one had noticed but sadly the one person who noticed was the one person I didn't want to notice. Randy had gone outside for a smoke, Shawn went to say goodbye to his girls, leaving me alone with Hunter.

"I don't know and I don't wanna know what happened in that bathroom but you may wanna tread lightly Drew"

"Meaning what mate?"

"If you hurt that girl the last thing I will be is your mate"

I couldn't blame him for being protective, I wanted too but reality was, if I was in his shoes I would've said the exact same thing. So before everyone else came back to the table I did at least send her a text.

What time will you be back tonight lass?

should be docking about 8

I'll see you at 9 and my answer is B

enjoy your game, and yes im dancing right now, correction both me and Jam are dancing in the middle of the street.

thank you for that now I can't stop laughing

I put my phone away and focused on the game which was finally starting. I had no idea what exactly I've gotten myself into but if it included Raven I don't think I'm gonna regret it very much.
