The following day, Megumi returns and is successful. He exorcized the curse with ease from what he told us.
"Yeah, the grade four was easy. Demon dog had no issue consuming it." He says proudly.
"That's great Megumi. I'm proud of you." I tell him.
"Eh, not bad. But now, you're gonna go after a grade three curse." He tells him.
"Alright, when?" Megumi asks.
"Next week. I'll look for some recent reports." I tell him.
"Alright, sounds good to me. This one went so smoothly I'll need an actual challenge." Megumi says actually sounding happy for once.
"Sooo, who's the best teacher?" Satoru asks teasingly.
Megumi rolls his eyes, "Tsk, whatever."
"Well, you can take today off Megumi. You need to rest." I tell him.
"Thanks Suzuki. See you guys tomorrow." He says walking out of the room.
"Alright, he did really well. I'm proud of him." I tell Satoru.
He chuckles, "yeah, he did. But he still has a long way to go."
"Whoa there, that almost sounded sentimental." I tease.
"Whatever dork, I care." He tells me.
I walk over to him and place a kiss on his cheek, "I know."
I grab my things and put them in my pockets and start heading out the door.
"Hey, where are you going?" He asks.
"I'm headed to see Shoko. She said something about my cursed energy being out of wack or something." I tell him.
"Hmm, yeah, I thought it was just because you were happy and not as stressed. Maybe the happier feelings have made your energy dip? Did she say it was bad?" He asks.
"Don't know, i'm about find out." I tell him.
"Well i'll go too." He tells me.
"You don't have to." I say.
"No Naomi, I'm going. All i'll end up doing is sitting at home worrying anyways." He tells me.
"Alright." I say.
We head to Shoko and she greets us with a smile, almost too happy to see us. Suspicious if you ask me.
"Hey guys, Naomi sit, i'll take a look at you." She says.
I sit on the exam table and she summons her cursed energy through her hands. She hovers over my entire body and finally she stops. She goes to get a stethoscope and returns to listen to my heart.
"Hmm, let me run one more test. I'm gonna need some blood." She tells me.
"Alright." I say.
She takes some blood and goes to leave the room, "this won't take me long."
Satoru stands beside me placing his hand on my knee.
"What if I'm losing my cursed energy? I won't be able to fight anymore really." I tell him sadly.
He smiles trying to cheer me up, "I wouldn't worry about it. Your cursed energy levels are low, but that could mean anything. You're at your strongest when you're enraged. Maybe you're just happy." He tells me.
"Maybe." I say.
"Besides, you're like, super jacked for a female. I doubt you'd lose in a fight." He says confidently, "you're strong regardless, don't count yourself out." He tells me.
I nod and a few minutes later, Shoko returns.
"Well, my suspicions were confirmed. Gojo, you may want to sit down." She tells him.
He looks at her confused but pulls up a chair and listens.
"Don't tell me I've lost my cursed energy." I ask.
"No, it's kinda better than that. Well, depending on how you look at it." She says.
"Well? Lay it on us." Satoru says.
Shoko sighs and looks to both of us, "your cursed energy is dissappearing because you're feeding another's, well so to speak." She says.
"Huh?" Satoru asks confused.
"What? Who's?" I ask.
"Your child's. Naomi, you're pregnant." She says.
The walls start closing in on me. No, no way this is real. I can't be pregnant. There's just no way, Satoru and I have only been together for a month, this is way too soon.
I look over to Satoru and he looks conflicted. He has his blindfold on still and his elbows. He too looks like he can't believe it. But he also looks amazed.
"How do you know this?" He asks.
"Last night I had a suspicion all night about it. There were two cursed energy signatures. I knew she either had to have a cursed spirit with her, or she was pregnant. The blood test confirmed the pregnancy." Shoko tells us.
"And it's healthy?" He asks looking to her.
"Yes, nothing seems out of the ordinary. No elevated or irregular heart beat." She says.
Satoru takes a deep breath and puts his head in his hands.
"How far along?" I ask.
"When was your last cycle?" She asks.
"Maybe a month ago?" I tell her.
She nods her head, "then i'd say at the very least, two weeks? Not far along at all in other words. Expect some morning sickness soon."
"What about the cursed energy? What's going on with that?" I ask.
"Well, if my suspicion is correct, then just being Gojo's child makes them inherently powerful. Gojo is the first in generations to inherit the six eyes and limitless techniques, you are the last surviving Suzuki, meaning you are very powerful as well. Not as much, but still very powerful. My guess is this child will be just as if not more powerful than you or even Gojo. It only makes sense that during the pregnancy he or she will be stealing some of your energy." She explains.
"So they'll be born with cursed energy?" I ask.
"Not quite. The body needs time to develop enough to start memorizing techniques and how to use them. They'll still only show signs of their abilities around the normal age of six or seven." She tells me, "you won't notice the change that much. You probably just won't be able to use your techniques as much for a while."
"She won't be anyways, she's staying right here where she'll be safe. She won't leave my sight." He tells Shoko seriously, "Shoko, no one outside of this campus can know of this. If the wrong people find out I'm having a child, they will take her to get to me." He says.
"I'm not saying a word. This child would be valuable even if you weren't the father. It's a Suzuki descendant, and now a Gojo descendant." She says.
I take a shaky breath and Satoru looks at me concerned. He takes my hand and kisses it placing his forehead on it.
"I'll give you guys some time to process. Congratulations." She says and walks out.
Satoru stands and hugs me tightly, "I love you." He tells me.
"I love you too." I answer.
We sit there for a while, not saying anything, just hugging each other and not letting go. Satoru was right. I didn't think about it, but both of us are the last of our clans. If we already didn't have a huge target on our backs, we do now. This is kinda what I feared this whole time. I knew falling in love with him would only bring him more trouble. This is my fault.
"I'm so sorry." I say as I start to cry, "I'm so so sorry." I tell him sadly.
"No," he says gently looking down at me and wiping away my tears, "no, no, no. Naomi this isn't your fault."
"How is it not? This will bring you nothing but pain. I have ruined your life." I say.
He leans down and touches his forehead to mine, "Naomi. This is the best news I've ever received in my entire life. This is a gift that has been given to us." He says as he tilts my head up to look at him. He takes his blindfold down to reveal his beautiful blue eyes, "you're having my baby. I'm going to be a dad because of you. Because you are in my life, you have given me purpose. Purpose to make a better life for our child." He says placing a hand on my stomach, "One where the Jujutsu sorcerer network can be trusted, and uncorrupted. This is what I fight for. This is what makes me strong. Without you, and now without our baby, I would be nothing. My strength and power would be nothing. So thank you." He says.
I smile and kiss him hard. We stay like this for a moment and then we part.
"I love you Satoru Gojo." I tell him.
"I love you Naomi Suzuki." He answers.
We get up and leave the room, telling Shoko goodbye and thank you as we walk. Satoru puts his blindfold up again and I see him activate his infinity right before. He's on high alert as we walk back to the apartment.
When we get there, I unlock the door and we take our shoes off as we walk inside. Satoru shuts the door and I go sit on the couch quietly. I look to see Satoru kind of dazed as he leans on the wall leading to the kitchen.
"I'm gonna be a dad." He says and chuckles.
"And I'm gonna be a mom." I say starting to smile.
He smiles widely and runs over to me, pulling me to my feet and hugging me tightly.
"I love you." He says lovingly.
I laugh, "I love you too."
The fear and looming threat goes away for a moment, and we just celebrate our pregnancy. For a moment, we're happy about the news. Unexpected sure, but it's good news all the same. Excitement and nervousness starts to take over, but ultimately I'm very happy. We're having a baby, and I can't wait.
